Chada Thai has been a consistent favorite of mine for over ten years - no joke!! My personal favs are the chili pepper fried rice, crispy garlic chicken, and pad kee mao. If you get 3 or more stars on the traditional dishes they will pack quite a punch - but it's a complimentary heat and not overwhelming. Still, having never been to Thailand myself I don't think I could handle 4 or more lol. But seriously do yourself a favor and grab something from here! read more

Not bad seems to be the common theme here and I have to agree. The atmosphere is not great and in fact I find the orange walls a bit too much but for the price you shouldn't expect a lot of charm. We ordered two salads. One with chicken, peanuts, basil and lime (sorry, am bad w/names). This one was a bit too salty but I guess it IS Thai food. Also, the peanuts in the chicken salad tasted rancid to me. The one with peanut sauce were pretty good except it was all iceberg lettuce which is not that appealing to me. I guess what I am saying is I really liked the peanut sauce which made up for the rest of the salad being pretty mediocre although fresh. We also ordered a seafood dish with green beans, peppers,, mushrooms and basil. It was pretty good I guess but I don't know if I would order it again. The bathroom was pretty clean if you care about that. I am not sure if I ever received a fortune cookie in a Thai restaurant before but free dessert is always nice. read more

One of the most unassuming Thai restaurants you'll ever come across. This place is only a couple blocks from my house in a small strip of businesses that includes 7-11, Domino's, a terrible Teriyaki restaurant, and a dry cleaners. This place is a diamond in the rough. I cannot order food from this place without getting one of the two house specials, Crispy Garlic Chicken. This dish is phenominal! It's a giant portion of lightly tempura battered white meat chicken, tossed in this spicy/sweet garlic sauce with fried basil leaves and bell peppers mixed in. It's incredible. I have tried other dishes to compliment the Crispy Garlic Chicken, including cashew chicken (above average), their phad thai (average), panang curry (delicious), larb gai (mom loved it), and chicken satay (excellent peanut sauce). When ordering a spicy dish from this place, beware, they will hear a "3-star" request, but counter with a "4-star" delivery. Do not underestimate their heat levels! I love spicy dishes, but do not try and be a hero and order a 4-star here. I've only gotten food to-go here, but the place is always wide open. It's a family run business and at night they young son sits out in the restaurant and plays his Nintendo DS, while the older daughter and parents run the kitchen/service. read more

Best noodles I've had anywhere. Chada is my favorite restaurant in Seattle. Chada is an unpretentious, cozy restaurant that does a lot of take out business. I live in Kingston now, so I have a hard time making it past the Phad Kee Mao on the rare occasion I'm in the area. The phad thai is second to none, and I've had a really good seafood curry in the past, but I couldn't say which dish it was. The portions are generous and the price is right. I usually get 3 star spice. I will say, the spice level varies by chef, ranging from sinus hot to stomach lining hot. The flavor is on point at every level of heat (I've tried 1-3 star, and wouldn't dare go past that...). Even when it blows out my stomach, I eat the leftovers in the morning. It's just too good! Chada looks like it's been a Greenwood staple for awhile, and I believe it's popular for their crispy garlic chicken, which does not disappoint! It's a huge serving and the flavor so intensely good- definitely great for two big appetites or three small ones. The server was nice about refilling my water like 4x since it's probably high in salt content. It's a mixed bag of customers with construction workers getting to go, seniors and millennial walk-ins who most likely live in the area. Parking is tight with the lot super busy shared with 7-eleven and a laundromat, and off-street is tough with the congestion of cars due to the stacks on stacks of apartments in this block. I live very close to this restaurant and it had very high reviews, so I decided to check it out for dinner. Everyone was raving about the crispy chicken, but I last minute decided to try something that was less reviewed - the ultimate fried rice. Like many others who have eaten here, I, too ordered my food to go so I could return home to catch a game on tv. I was nervous that it wouldn't be enough and was second guessing that I should have ordered the crispy chicken in addition, but the portion was big! I ordered a level 1 spice since everyone wrote that their spice levels are extremely hot. My mouth was not watering by any means and I don't have the best spice tolerance. Maybe I'll try a level 2 next time. This dish did have a couple of pineapples which I did not expect since I didn't order the pineapple fried rice. There was maybe 1 prawn in the entire dish, and no eggs. The dish was delicious, but not quite what I had hoped for based on the description from the menu. read more

It's been a year or two since I last ordered take out here, been coming here for about 10+ years. Their standout dish has always been the crispy garlic chicken, and pad thai has always been meh, service was always a grumpy/surly woman. Today I got an ultra chirpy woman on the phone who took my order of crispy garlic chicken, pad thai, pad see eiw, and Chada's noodle delight. First and most important of all...from tasting the crispy garlic chicken itself, I can tell this place has new chef/owners (aside from the friendlier lady on the phone and the pad thai which I'll get to later). It's sadly not the same spectacular dish I used to love. Now it's chunks of dry-ish fried chicken coated in the same sweet sauce, like a Thai version of General Tso's. I think Panda Express is better if I was seeking fried protein coated with sauce. Pad Thai was really good! It had good wok flavor. Their pad thai used to be very bland/meh, but this was really standout. Pad see eiw was so-so. Dry, and nothing to write home about. Chada's noodle delight was a container of bamboo shoot/mushroom/veggie soup and another container of dry crispy ribbons of noodle. A Thai version of Hong Kong style crispy/cake noodle. It was overwhelmingly flavored with bamboo shoots which I was not too crazy about. Summary: I will be looking elsewhere for crispy garlic chicken, this place ain't it anymore. Came in on a Saturday evening with the family cause the wife was interested on there famous garlic chicken. Soon as we arrived the person behind the counter seated us right away, good places are the one that seat you right away. We ordered the garlic chicken and seafood Tom yum with two Thai ice tea. We live in the neighborhood and were thrilled to see a Thai spot so close with such a decent star rating. Does not disappoint. We always get the same the things because they are spot on...Crispy garlic chicken, pad see ewe, and panang curry. Delicious. They run on a four point heat scale, and 4 is unreal. Sometimes even 3 is unreal and we are seasoned heat foodies. The spiciness levels are a little inconsistent and heavy handed. Default to one lower than you would normally get. read more

Sooo delicious! Glad I tried them. I ordered through Grub Hub and the food came fast and it was still really hot! I even had to wait for it to cool down. Anyway, I got the Green Chicken Curry and it was super good, and had a generous amount of chicken. The only downfall is that it doesn't come with rice so you'll have to order it separately but it's only about $2. Also, I ordered it spicy level 2 because I usually like medium spicy and it goes from 1-4 but I could've easily done a 3 because it was still kinda mild, comparable to taco bell mild sauce (spice level, not taste). Literally a joke, I order from here all the time (delivery) and all the sudden they have the smallest takeout boxes with the smallest portion of pad Thai I've ever seen. After many times of passing by Chada Thai, I decided to place a take out order with them. I ordered chicken pad thai, two stars. What I got was more inline with a 4 star spice level. It was a heat level I could not enjoy, and I had to throw 90% of the meal into the compost bin. The pad thai was on the dry side, and not very flavorful beside the excessive use of spice. I also ordered the fresh rolls, they were OK, but nothing special. The service was ok, and fast, but not a good option if they cannot provide food at the spice level requested. read more

My friend and I decided we would get lost for a while and then stop and use the Yelp App to see what restaurants were nearby. At some point we got lost enough that the nearest Thai restaurant, Chada, was about 1.2 miles away. Good thing the iPhone has Google Maps. Double True. Whenever I go to a new Thai restaurant I order Phad Thai, because if they can't make Phad Thai, they probably can't make anything else. That, and Phad Thai is really the only Thai food I eat. Whoops. I like the idea that I'm judging all Thai restaurants on their Phad Thai though and I would otherwise order something else. It makes me sound thoughtful. Setting The place is larger than I would expect for a Thai place that seems like it is in the middle of nowhere. Though there are people that live there so that it is definitely somewhere. I still don't really know where I was. I'll check out the address of this place when I am done writing this review. The inside of Chada Thai is very red. I like it. Apparently there was also a walk up window for to-go orders. Service Okay, it's a Thai restaurant. The lady took our orders, brought the right food, filled our water. That's the best one can expect from any Thai restaurant, and she did it all. Food As I mentioned earlier I ordered the Phad Thai, with Tofu. I ordered 5 stars before she told me it only went up to 4 stars. Maybe I should do that every time I go to any Thai place because for the first time ever I didn't get white person stars. I got real stars. I got spice. Yay spice! Of course, along with that spice the lady came by twice to make sure I was okay and could handle it (including warning me before I took my first bite that it might be too spicy). It wasn't. Thai people think they handle spice better than white people but they are wrong. It was very spicy. I can handle it. I'm a man. I eat raw peppers. Compared to that this was weak. Mad bonus points though for actually giving me the level of spice I asked for. Now, I didn't think this was the best Phad Thai I've had, which is why this place only gets 4 stars instead of 5. Chada Thai is the kind of place you want in your neighborhood. Excellent food at a reasonable price with the option of eating in or take-out. As others have said, the Crispy Garlic Chicken is a must order. It borders on addictive as I always eat too much of it. The Pad Thai is the real thing, not that catsup based stuff that some places want to feed you. The Vegetable Fresh Rolls are a bit bland but you get 3 of them the size of a toddler's calf for 6 bucks and the dipping sauce is spicy and delicious. I have always found the staff polite. Quite simply, Chada Thai has the best thai food from Holman Road through Shoreline. Their Pad See Ew is delectable, red curry top notch, and tempura garlic chicken bursts through the box and is otherworldly awesome. General Tso out of the way: this is the Asian breaded chicken you've been dreaming about. So how about the spice? Other places throw some pepper flakes here and there with little effect but Chada will bring the heat if required. However, they can also tone it down if need be. I have a baby at home and they made her a pad thai minus the peanuts and adequately mild. Perfect and still very tasty. Pricing is right around eight to ten bucks for just about everything, a fair deal. I spent several months trying to find a place like this and now that I've found Chada I have made it my goal to recommend them every chance I get. We ate here awhile ago and I was disappointed and didn't plan to go back. The food was just eh. Unfortunately, today we ended up calling in another to go order because Yum Yum Thai isn't open on Sundays. I figured Chada is close by so we could give them another try. It's interesting people think this place is reasonably priced - I just paid $40 for two swimming rama with noodles and a soup. What? On top of that, whenever you call the person who answers seems annoyed that you're calling. Reading the other reviews, I'm not sure what to think about the perceived attitude about the main owner. She's always been friendly and warm to me, and knows my name when I order (Damn that phad kee mao and crispy garlic chicken! She knows us too well). Who cares that the 10-year old takes your order? So being asian I have to say I go back and forth with how I eat my asian food. Sometimes I really need authentic robust flavors and sometimes I eat at panda express. However I do love going to Chada Thai, they have a very delicious fried rice. I've had the Panang Curry which was certainly not goop. The special chicken with a sweet basil sauce is also quite good. The garlic chicken and shrimp come in this sauce that I would really love to pour over rice. I'm sure there are things on the menu that aren't the greatest, but it's close to my house, it's relatively cheap, and I love the family that runs the place (the daughter who must be in her early teens takes orders and the 5 year old son seats people and brings menus and water). I'm not saying it's the best thai food in the world, but it's homey, farm style comfort thai food that's a good value and a small business I am happy to support in this bad economy. read more

I am a stickler for Thai food and this place is delicious. I read other reviews of service but mine was fine. I ordered lunch special at 2:45 (lunch ends at 3) and received no guild. I ordered Phad Thai, my Thai litmus test, and red curry. How spicy 1-4 I said 3 - I got the typical response (I'm a white girl) it's very spicy and I said that's fine. I have been to thailand and made Thai food and I get it! It was spicy, but not unbearable -- just right for me. I definitely went through a couple glasses of water. Anyhow, the Phad Thai was perfect, like the best street Phad Thai I've had. Huge portion for lunch too. the curry came in a small cup but i still couldn't finish that, and the rice was perfect, not too sticky. You can tell they use the traditional ingredients like kaffir leaves in their curry too. Delish. The lady was sweeping a lot but never tried to rush me out. She also was talking to some other customers about the noodles etc and seemed shy but helpful. They have the best Pineapple fried rice I have tried and trust me I have experimented in other places (mainly in downtown Seattle) and have been disappointed.
