Yes, I intentionally tried Chamon in Las Vegas. Japanese food, onigiri (I hope I spelled it correctly and saying it right) that isn't always available. Many pieces are $5 and some special ones could be a couple more but it's all good! The sizes were moderate- it's a perfect quick bite and it will fill you up. I went happy shopping and left the place with 10 onigiri with 3 different fillings. I'm still eating them haha... nah but I/we finished the following day and the rice was still nutty. I kept in a cool bag not cold. Anyway, I voted 5 for this place. Uniqueness and innovation. Yes, they are, exactly- imagine not reinventing the wheel and completely come out being new and exiting- yes- WOW!! My husband and I really enjoyed the food! We ordered the deluxe which had a bunch of different tempura (eel, shrimp, scallop, soft boiled egg, and squash) and included soup and rice. The tempura was so light and crispy. The miso soup was also really tasty. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Food was served quickly. The restaurant is much smaller than I expected- maybe only 4 tables and a few bar seats. The onigiri looks great- we took a few to-go. Found out about Chamon on Tik Tok. Thought it was just an onigiri place, only to find out they also serve tempura bowls and plates for dine-in. It's small inside, with only 12 or 13 spots (including the bar), so definitely go early or at night to beat the crowds! Premium tempura plate was a 10/10. My friends and I were really excited to try this place and we have been hearing rumors that we would need to go there early or else they may run out of food or we may have to wait for a bit. They were definitely right. We came here today around 4:30pm since they reopen at 5pm and make a fresh batch of onigiri. There was already a line forming at the door as soon as we arrived. Before we know it, the line grew quite long. Around 4:45pm, they had taken our orders outside so they can prepare it as soon as we get in which was a bit nice. By 5pm, they allowed us in and we were able to get a basket for our onigiri and then was able to sit right away to our table. The servers were quick and attentive. For onigiri, we had bought quite a few to try them out. They were overall decent. I would say my favorite one is the eel. As for the tempura meals, I had ordered the deluxe plate and my boyfriend ordered the tendon bowl and my friend ordered the vegetable tempura combo plate with an add-on of eel. FYI: Bowls definitely look better on pictures and looks more aesthetic for the pictures and the combo plates have everything separated so the tempura isn't covering the rice. For the deluxe, the eel and shrimp along the vegetables were good. I was not that big of a fan of the scallops. I think because they were small scallops, it was just not as tasteful. I would say the food was overall very yummy. I do wish the rice was a bit softer, but the way the tempura was cooked tasted great. One disappointing thing was the pictures and the menu stated they had enoki but it seems like they are not longer serving enoki and had replaced it with pumpkin. If you want onigiri, you can purchase if there is no line for it. AND they do have a cut off time for dine in. Restaurant is really small with 4 small tables and a bar seating 2 individuals. If you have a large party, expect a much longer wait. My bf and i arrived around 1pm with a line already. We just lined up unaware we had to put our name in for dine in. But later on, we were able to go inside to buy onigiri while waiting to be seated. Overall wait time was about an hour. ONIGIRI- Large variety of onigiri options with different price ranging from $2-5, veggies, tuna, salmon, unagi (eel), spam & tomago (egg), chasu (pork) etc. Purchased at least 11-12 onigiri total. Some bits and part of the onigiri was salty but if you eat it together it blends well with everything. I would suggest to go light handed on the salt but i was also glad it wasn't bland either. TEMPURA BOWLS; 1 Premium and 1 deluxe. Everything was so flavorful and delicious. Within the first bite of each tempura, was so good! Next time i want to get the tempura bowl deluxe or the deluxe plate to try a little bit of everything. Bust out food tour continues. Asian poker buds and I can't live on burgers alone. We need rice. Chamon, Vegas' first tendon specialty restaurant. Let's go! IMPORTANT: In a tendon sauce will ALWAYS be poured over the freshly fried tempura quickly making it soggy. It is EXACTLY the way it is supposed to be eaten. The "premium" a great way to start but wanting anago tempura, opted for the "deluxe". Protein items (anago, shrimp and scallop) are dipped in a marginally thin batter then well fried; crisp on the outside and not oily. The veg really shines. Still crisp lotus root, sweet kabocha and perfectly fried shiso. All of it atop a good quality short grain rice and topped by a delish sauce. The eatery claims the mother sauce is from Kyoto, part of the Kansai region of Japan. It definitely has the telltale milder soy flavor and kicked up sweetness. It blends so well with the fried goodness of the tempura and taste great with the rice. Japanese proper and efficient service. Very limited beer and sake options to pair. Lots of musubis on offer. None sampled. Is it as good as what you'd get in Japan? No. And don't even think of comparing it with tendon from Asakusa where tempura is fried in sesame oil that is so many levels away. But hey, this isn't Japan and for being in Vegas, amazingly good! read more

First there was to be a soft opening. When we arrived we were turned away. And tonight, despite advertising open until 9:00PM we were turned away at 8;33. I explained we came from Henderson and couldn't find a parking spot (in the ridiculously small lot) and could they please fit us in? No tempura for us--- the host did not care. My wife and I are being slowly convinced that Vegas has the best Japanese food in the U.S. Today's exhibit that I'd like to bring into evidence: Chamon, a restaurant specializing in tendon (tempura rice bowls) and onigiri. First, let's talk tempura. The main dine-in area is primarily a tempura restaurant. The menu consists of tendon, which is a bowl of rice and tempura drizzled with tempura sauce (there is more sauce on the table if you wish to add more). You can also order a tempura plate, which is basically the same thing, except that the rice, tempura, and sauce are served separately. My preference is to always go for the plate, since I don't like my tempura pre-sauced. Either way, the tempura options and side dishes are the same. I recommend going with the Deluxe ($26.95 bowl/$27.95 plate), which comes with almost everything, including shrimp, a soft boiled egg, vegetables, and eel. Unfortunately I did not catch our server's name, but he helped make the whole experience memorable - not only was he very knowledgeable about everything on the menu, he was also very strategic with timing and efficiency in this cozy restaurant and very thoughtful with his suggestions.
