If your car has any serious, don't tell them beforehand. I was told I had to buy my own engine before any mechanics would even look at my car here. They are all over the place too. John, the owner, says he will check it out to confirm I need an engine one day but the next he's yelling and swearing at me on the phone. He said the job took 21hrs at $120/hr of labor and "too expect a few extra hundred bucks by the end of it" so it's kind of decision I want someone to care about. Took it Sergio's in Malden and got quoted for the same job for 17hrs and they have good vendors. Chaotic just wants your money, be careful. read more

Punctual, transparent, and personable. Jason and Justin took excellent care of me when I came in this morning to get my new catback exhaust mounted on my Jeep. A couple days ago, I called them to ask for a quote and installation time for my bolt on system, and they said it would take 1-1.5 hours, and would be between $100-$150 depending on how hard it would be to get the stock system off. They were true to their word: it took 1.25 hours to get my exhaust on, and for $125 - right smack in the middle of both their estimates, which I was thrilled about. They mentioned some housekeeping things I should look out for and really made me feel comfortable, and we even talked cars together a little as they installed. If I could give this place zero stars I would. Found this place through a recommendation from my normal tire place. Was getting a small lift and larger tires for my Jeep. I always do my homework when buying any major purchases. I spoke to the owner John and told him exactly what I was looking to do, and what was needed. Long story short I went on his recommendation on a tire I didnt think would fit, but hey, this guy does this for a living. I paid for the parts, and he ordered them. Fast forward 2 weeks, Im picking up my Jeep, pulling out of the shop, the tire is rubbing. I knew this was going to be a headache at this point. First, he didnt order the right tires, I wanted newer Nitto Grappler G2, he installed the older model, the Grappler. When I called to ask discuss the issue of the bigger tire is where the real problems happened. John was a total flake, told him I was gunna come by after work friday to look at them...I get there..Hes gone. Came back the next morning, not there. When I finally saw him, his attitude and demeanor was piss poor. Not wanting to help me with a problem he created. "I said they 'should' fit" is what I was told when I asked why he recommended those tires without wheel spacers. They should??? Lol Im spending $2k on wheels and a lift and youre not even sure they would fit, and this my problem? I offered to buy the spacers, which I wanted in the first place for this setup, and have them install it. I ended up buying them and paying a different shop to install them. They didnt really want to install them given the bad rep spacers have, but did it when I explained my situation, they did it. In and out in 30m, super fair price, and now they have a customer for life. Want nothing to do John, and his business going forward. The issue should have never occurred in the first place, I put my trust in someone who does this for a living, assuming they would know what they're doing...Not recommending thousand dollar purchases that may or may not fit my application. My frustration lies with John, his piss poor attitude/body language and his unwillingness to fix an issue he created. I got hosed in this whole deal, overpaid, had to jump through circles to get a response from John. He's a flake who doesn't know what he's talking about in terms of cars, and has no idea how to run a business. Say it with me, "service industry". read more

Wow what a great find. I had just recently purchased an OEM BMW M Performance Exhaust System and attempted to have BMW Install it on my 2016 6 series and they couldn't do it. Sad right?? The solution! Found Chaotic customs online. Not only did they install it, they did it with great skill and then some. Spoke to my man Anthony there. He was courteous, knowledgable, and informative and did an excellent job. For the work he did it was very reasonably priced. I am very happy with my exhaust. I highly recommend these guys! Recommended to these guys by another mechanic I respect (and have rated here). Totally satisfied. They didn't know me; I was a long way from home; a great target for a fleecing. They looked at my exhaust system and rather than selling me the moon, welded it for a reasonable price and I was on my way. I had a catback and test pipe made for my Acura TL and am very happy with the outcome. They took the time to make sure I was getting exactly what I wanted, weld quality and overall workman ship was amazing and everything was handled professionally and done in a timely manner. I came in with pictures of a name brand system attempting to match and and they did amazing job. They had lots of cars their ra ding from Japanese imports to lifted trucks all the way up to 850hp drag cars so I was very confident having the guys at chaotic make my catback. read more

When you set up an appointment with them - the appointment date is kept. Each time my car was brought in right away and could either wait in the office until done, or pick it up later. Went here in the summer to get a custom exhaust and tips put on. Very fair price and only took them an hour and a half I believe. I was not 100% sure of what exhaust to get at first. They helped me decide by showing me youtube videos to see what tone/volume i was looking for. Not many places would do that, so *thumbs up* nicee 8) I did come back a few months later to get some information and a quote on installing a CAI. This shop should stick to the only thing they are good at, exhausts. Apparently they don't know how to be mechanics they "diagnosed" a car but the car came out of there shop with the same problems. They said it was safe to drive but surprise surprise they lied. When I went back they changed two parts that were not even close to the problem to Unnecessarily charge me and even the second time could not fix the problem. This is an unfit business. I left a review several months ago. I would go about this saying I had a bad experience but let's be real here, John is a money hungry person. He feels the need to keep his business running by overcharging and misdiagnosing issues. He is an exhaust shop and should not be repairing anything more than that. My brother and all of his friends raved about the shop and how good it was that's why I went there. I knew I should've went to Jamie as one stop. He treats the girls with respect. I brought my car here in March, my car was stalling, John told me that my cat code/clogged cat being repaired would 100% fix this issue. He avoided/ignored the real issue which was a vacuum leak. My neighbor got the same codes he did and John overlooked it. Why replace an $8 vacuum line when you can make $300 off of an innocent girl and then on top of that slap on 2 $50 belts even though she called and told you not to touch them. Slapped on another $300 so that when I went to pick up my car.. the bill went from $300 to $600 WITHOUT my permission. I do not recommend this shop. He doesn't do any work on the vehicles himself, he dictates. This is why he fired a very valuable employee recently and since then his business isn't doing well. Please save yourself a headache and avoid this shop for anything more than exhaust work. read more

Friendly staff. As of May 2019, they no longer do custom exhaust work which somewhat contradicts the business name in my opinion. I was told by a staff member that they will now only install pre-made aftermarket exhausts for pickup trucks. I was then referred to another shop. read more

I first discovered Wakefield Auto Repair by accident. On of my wheels got a nail in it and I had to find the closest auto repair place ASAP! It was early evening on a Saturday and I was afraid I wouldn't be able to find someplace that was open. Fortunately, I pulled up to Wakefield Auto Repair. While they were officially closed, John and one of his guys were around, and they were kind enough to fix my tire on the spot and charged me very little (this was 6 months ago and I can't remember the exact cost, but it wasn't much). I have taken each of my vehicles in on separate occasions since and Wakefield Auto Repair has always fixed the problem that day at what I believe to be very fair prices. John and his crew are good guys, and they do solid work at reasonable prices. Hard to ask for more from an auto repair place. read more
