Benjamin's Easter Buffet 2025 I don't normally leave bad reviews but this felt necessary. Let me paint you a picture of Easter at Benjamin's: My family of 9 adults had a reservation for their 3pm seating. When we arrived a little before 3, we had to wait in a line that was out the door of the restaurant and down a long hotel hallway. We were pretty far down, and as we came in people were wishing us luck or calling other restaurants to see if they could go there instead. It was like being on the RMS Titanic- a foreboding sense of inevitable danger ahead. We were worried about our 3 elderly family members being able to stand in line, but luckily the line started moving after 10 minutes or so. When my party got to the front, we were seated. They did not ask if we had a reservation- just led us to a table. Half our group was cut off by another party that just arrived, claiming they had priority because they had a reservation. Hah! So did everyone else in that line but okay. Anyway, the rest of our party joined us, our waiter brought out 2 carafes of water, and told us his tables would be going first. He felt really bad for the customers, you could tell. We asked him about the food they ran out of as people were muttering about that in line. He said they were out of garden salad and turkey (because they dropped it, apparently. Huh.) but they were also out of bread rolls. If you're going to have three buffet seatings- have food for all three. So the buffet itself was outside the dining room. They had opened at least one other banquet hall at the hotel to fit people, so they were all coming toward this buffet table. Luckily, we were first in line. There were three servers at the buffet for 11 trays of food so it took forever. The scrambled eggs looked awful- very dry. No one piece of bacon looked like it was cooked the same- some of mine were crispy some were chewy. Sausage was fine. They gave you two pieces of each. Stingy! One of my two French toast sticks was hard as a rock. Potatoes were okay. I went to get coffee at the next table and Oop! There wasn't enough to fill a cup in the one canister on the table. No one seemed to be in a rush to bring out more though. The dessert table had some danishes and another tray of blondie crumbs. While eating this first plate, someone finally came around to ask what the name of our reservation was. Better late than never! Our waiter brought us a whole coffee pot because he knew we didn't get any, complete with fresh cream and sugars. After finishing our first plates, some of us headed back to the buffet for round 2. But lo and behold the line was back around the corner! A family friend dining in another section of the restaurant told us that at this point, they had only just received water. Yikes! We did not want to wait in line, so we waited at our table for a bit. Some of us never even returned to the buffet table. A few of us did head back now that the line had died down. I set a timer; it took 14 minutes and 43 seconds from the time I entered the line until I was back at my table. When you reached the buffet area, they had now diverted the line to start at the ham carving table rather than the eggs, so the feng shui was even worse than before, with the line now stretching across the small buffet area. This time, I got the lunch offerings. The ham was alright. The mashed potatoes were incredibly salty. The carrots were mushy on the outside but hard on the inside. The scrod was fine and the penne was fine. There was a welcome addition to brownies at the dessert table. We could've paid extra for a better dessert selection off the menu though. We were not as wise as our fellow diners who complained and got comped, so my elderly grandfather who was paying for our meal paid full price for this, at $35 per person. Oh, and they didn't tell us about the credit card processing fee, costing an extra $10. Thank you to our waiter who tried to make this doomed experience a little better! Suffice to say, we will not be returning to Benjamin's. read more

Never coming here again. Food came out 10+ minutes apart so mine was cold before other people in my groups even came out. They comped part of it, but not worth trying again. Worst waitress I've ever encountered Janice. So many blame games & confrontation. Will update quality of food once I reheat it at home. Guessing the drinks are strong so you won't notice. And the final meal we were waiting on, chicken pot pie, came out cold in the center. 2 parties total at lunch on a Saturday, so far from busy. read more

I was so disappointed! We used to go there frequently in the summer. They had a great menu, service was good and food was excellent and plentiful. Today we arrived and had to wait almost 10 minutes before the waitress showed up. Someone from the hotel actually went to retrieve her from the back. She sat us down and then didn't come back for about 10 min to take our order. There was only one other person in the restaurant who had already been waited on. We both ordered from the limited menu. Only a few items compared to what used to be on the menu. We both ordered fish and chips. It literally took 49 minutes for the food to arrive. When I mentioned that to the waitress she said there were other orders ahead of us? What the restaurant was empty!! They do take out. I saw one bag of food come out front. There was only one waitress in the whole place. When our food arrived, the fish looked like it had been fried and then re-fried to warm it up again. The steak fries were very hot but the fish was just warm. To add insult to injury, the place was so cold that my nose and feet became very cold. On the way our we saw a man that ordered a pizza when we got there that was still waiting to pick it up. He said he was not coming back again. My husband and I will not return. I am so disappointed in the revised menu, slowness of service, and poor quality of food. They need to make some changes. read more

Very disappointing experience at Benjamin's in Seekonk. I went in with a gift card that was purchased when the restaurant was operating under the same name, but they refused to honor it. I was told the restaurant has gone through three different owners and that there were issues with the previous owner not paying out gift cards. As a customer, that's extremely frustrating. The restaurant still operates under the same name, and there is no notice on the website or posted anywhere in the restaurant letting customers know that old gift cards are no longer valid. Customers shouldn't be stuck with the loss when ownership changes, especially when nothing is communicated ahead of time. Just something others should be aware of before going. read more

The service was excellent. We ordered fish & chips and baked scrod. Fried fish was crunchy and not greasy. However, the baked scrod was not what my friend got. It was haddock instead. We were not told of the substitution. We had the early bird dinner. Dessert choices were: strawberry shortcake, bread pudding, or grape nut pudding. However, they only offered carrot cake or cheesecake instead! Since the original owners retired, this lovely restaurant has lost its heart. It is by far the most attractive venue around. They need to step up the luncheon choices and have what is advertised on hand. Let's find a way to get more people to try a meal here. It would be a terrible loss if it closed. I have been going to Benjamin's f for many years and it's always been a good experience. Went there last night with another couple. What I didn't know was that it had been sold and under new ownership. It was a train wreck. The menu has been reduced from 5 packages to 1 1/2. The other half page was kids menu. They didn't carry the three different beverages I tried to order. I ended up with sweet tea. It was obvious from the start that the waitress had no idea what she was doing. The other couple received the wine they ordered but my wife never got her coke. I ordered veal masala and a cup of soup. She returned to tell me they had no veal so I changed it to chicken. When the meals final came I asked the waitress if I should it my meal or wait until I received the soup that never came. She offered to go and get it as it had been sitting on the bar for about 15 minutes. I declined. Our friends wife chicken parmigiana and the waitress brought her chicken Marsala. The manager came over and asked how we were doing and I unloaded. And finished by the way the bread was stale. Three of us we're finished eating when my friends wife meal finally came. My friend ordered the steak tips which he said were good but each item of his Oder were in individual little dishes, no dinner plate. My life had fish and chips the fish did not resemble any type of fish I've ever seen. The manager did take my friend's wife's dish off the bill and offered us free desserts. We declined the dessert. I don't think the waitress had ever worked as a waitress before last night. We left no tip. I had tried to call the restaurant for three days prior to make reservations but no one answered the phone. I should have taken that as a sign of trouble. In summary it was the worst restaurant experience I've ever had. The previous owner should have made the new owners change the name as they are tarnishing the the previous owner's reputation. Stay away. read more

We have always enjoyed a meal at Benjamin's until our most recent visit. Last week, we went in for a late lunch. We ordered early bird specials, he got the chicken Ptarmigan with salad, I ordered baked scrod with salad, spinach and baked potato. After we were seated and brought our drinks, our server, Janice, decided to have the bartender, Victoria, take care of us. We ordered our meals and when they arrived, I was given haddock au gratin. I reminded Victoria I had ordered baked scrod. She apologized for the error, saying that she had entered it incorrectly, and went to the kitchen to correct it. It didn't take very long to get the correct meal, however, when it arrived, I noticed it was a much smaller portion than it had ever been before. There was almost no butter and the little bit of bread crumbs were burnt. Upon tasting it, it didn't taste anything like what I remembered. When I said something to Victoria, all she did was apologize. The spinach was cooked in some sort of tomato sauce with way too much garlic. My husband's chicken Parmigiana was burnt around the edges and he said the sauce tasted off, different than any of the other times he had ordered it. Janice, who typically wait on us came over and asked if everything was OK. We explained about our meal and I asked her if they had a different cook. She told us they did, and commented she remembered us from our past visits. She said she would get someone to come out and speak with us. Someone from the front office came to speak with us, because apparently the manager had stepped out. We told her what had happened and I explained that I was not upset that the order was delivered incorrectly what I was upset about was the order that was the replacement meal not being nearly what I had remembered. They were very gracious and took my meal off of our bill. We did however, notice that there was a service fee for the use of a credit card already added to our bill. When we asked what the fee was, we were told it was for credit card transactions. We explained, that we had planned on paying by cash so an adjustment had to be made. If Victoria had asked how we were planning on paying prior to cashing out our meal, it would have saved her the trouble of having to redo the transaction. We have eaten at Benjamin's several times prior to this visit and have always had consistent and excellent service and food. While the staff took care of our issue, because the flavors were so different, we are not sure if and when we will return. On a side-note, the incorrect meal of the haddock au-gratin, looked a lot better than the baked scrod. I wish I had considered trying it instead of asking them to correct the error. I could have always decided to send it back since it was not what I had ordered. read more

I knew I had made a mistake when I walked in and the place was pretty much empty. We were seated and it took a while for them to come back to take our order. one entre had very spicy sauce and another was bland. The menu had much less on it compared with the one on line. Went here with the family for the Easter buffet. Absolutely total chaos. We had a 1 PM reservation did not get to a table until 1:45 PM only to wait in the buffet line for another 15 minutes. Server came out out of the kitchen with a pan of tiramisu and just turned it upside down on the dessert table, making a total mess. We ordered drinks and after 45 minutes we canceled the order. Posted menu offered roast, turkey, Italian bread and a tossed salad none of which were on the buffet line. Complained to the manager, and he did make an adjustment on the bill, but there was really no excuse for the chaos. Will never go there again. read more

Would give 0/5 if able to. Easter Brunch- Went here with the family for Easter Brunch event. 4 kids; 5 adults. Waited 20 minutes to be seated and we were one of the first to be seated. Took us an hour and 15 mins to be allowed to go up to the buffet. As you can imagine being the first to be seated and waiting this long to eat with young children was quite a disaster!! When finally reaching the buffet food was cold/frozen and some items burnt and not appetizing. Pancakes hard as a rock. No ketchup, butter or ketchup was provided. Coffee station-most of the canisters were not working or empty. Staff- State this is not the first event that went poorly. Previous staff have also quit so a lot of new employees. Staff aware of the unhappy customers. 3 banquet rooms to one very small buffet. Sad looking carving station. Safety-One small door for people coming in and out(same door) Fire hazard and safety hazard as someone could have spilled hot coffee on a child waiting in the line. (Thankfully none of the canisters were working at this time. Spoke with GM, Event Manager and Owner. Owner seemed unapologetic and very snippy. Could care less... Not worth $35pp ... GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!! Don't waste your time or money on frozen food and long wait times!! read more

My wife and I visited here for the first time on a Thursday night. We got there early, about 5, and were second guessing our decision when the place was totally empty (and the Xmas decorations still up in March were a bit odd too), but the decor was fine otherwise, cloth tablecloths, napkins, etc. We ordered 2 Manhattans that were excellent. They came with a nice sidecar with the rocks. We skipped apps. I ordered the chicken parm and my wife ordered the gnocchi. Both were excellent and plentiful. The chicken was nice and thin and crispy. The sauce was great. We each only finished about half. We ordered grapenut pudding for dessert that was good. People started to filter in as we were there, so it didn't feel so odd. The place is huge, so I think it will always feel empty. The bottom line is that we'll be back. read more

Apps- Calamari- ehhh sounded good but dry and no butter sauce on it that I saw. Stuffed seafood mushrooms-Rancid-smelled horrible had to send them back. Went for a family holiday get together last night. 7 adults. 6 meals came out close together. The 7th was a vegetable lasagna. Came out at least 10 minutes later. Was cold in the middle. I ate around the edges. I didn't want to ruin the meal for everyone. My biggest issue is while the waitress said she was sorry for the delay, that one meal should have been taken off the bill. A true hidden gem! When we walked in and there were only two other tables occupied, we were a little nervous, but we are so truly grateful that we gave this place a chance!! 10/10 recommend the clam chowder and the entrees we got. My husband got the swordfish steak and I got the stuffed jumbo shrimp. Both were recommended by our super sweet server who did not steer us wrong! The waitress was so attentive and took the time to answer my questions and offer her recommendations. The menu had a wide variety of seafood and various pasta dishes. Found on Yelp while staying in Seekonk. The restaurant is in the Ramada Hotel. They have daily specials and the Tuesday we were there they had a Dinner for Two Special with a bottle of wine for $49. We went to the bar for a drink and had our meal there - we both ordered the Italian Combo platters - one Chicken Parm & Ravioli and one Eggplant Parm w Meatball & Sausage. The portions were huge! The sauce was very good, fresh bread was also offered. Our bartender Sue was great and took care of us. I would recommend this place to anyone traveling thru the area. The restaurant is quiet and a nice place to relax, (watch the Red Sox!) and enjoy a nice meal. read more

The worst dining experience ever! We went today for Easter Brunch. It was advertised in East Providence Post $30 for Brunch buffet. We were charged $35. We waited 45 minutes to get called up for buffet. We were in buffet line for 25 minutes. The bacon was not cooked, the pancakes hard as a rock and French toast was burnt. They advertised it included turkey and salad which they did not have. The coffee was empty. When we got back to the table we told the server about the coffee. He brought us fresh coffee then charged us for it $5 a cup. I told him we shouldn't be charged because it was part of the buffet. Everyone was complaining because it was so awful. The owner was unapologetic and didn't care about the customer. They automatically charged a 20% gratuity and I heard a server say the gratuity doesn't go to the servers. In addition, there was a service charge added to the bill. We will never go back. The whole experience was a nightmare read more

Ate here with a family of ten for Easter and ended up waiting for 30 minutes regardless of our reservation. The service staff seemed to dislike the manager, and condemned the new owners. A small array of food was offered, which was displayed in the waiting room. The line for entry and the line for food became mixed and ultimately everyone was prevented from eating. The food itself was mediocre at best. While the ambiance was pleasant, it cannot make up for the subpar quality of the restaurant. read more

The service was great and we felt very welcome upon arrival. The shrimp scampi took me back to the Benjamin's in Taunton. I haven't been able to find a shrimp scampi the way they used to make it. We will be coming back! read more

Diamond in the rough! My husband and I were looking for a place close to home in Seekonk after voting and stumbled upon this place. The place was nicely decorated and pleasant to the eye. We sat at the bar were Susan waited on us. Very nice and personable!! She informed us of the specials and made us feel welcomed!! We had the dinner for 2 with lots to choose from. I had Haddock au graitin, my husband chicken parmigiana Alfredo. Good portions and decent flavor! The dinner for 2 also comes with a bottle of wine and dessert. Both had decent choices to make this an excellent value. Our server/bartender was definitely the final touch to make us this a regular stop. We appreciated her great service! read more

A beautiful and old school kind of establishment. I decided to try it out since I was tired and just checked in. I ordered a few things and it was all decent but nothing exceptional. Stopped in with a group of 10 for dinner; it was later in the evening and they quickly accommodated us. Order some apps and meals. The calamari was some of the best that I have ever had. For dinners it was a mix of chicken, seafood and Italian dishes for us. Every bite was delicious. Service was outstanding too (I believe her name was Laurie). Worst experience ever. We went to celebrate my mother's 80th birthday. Had a reservation for 13 people. We were there 1 1/2 hours and never received our drinks. Manager/owner was just standing around. My family member went to speak to him. The manager was very defensive. We said we only have bread and water at the table and have been here for 1 1/2 hours do you see a problem with that? The "owner" said well what do you want me to do. We said well maybe help and take some orders or something. He then proceeded to harass us, and said if we continue he was going to ask us to leave. We all started to leave. My 90 year old father needed help, and this guy was tearing the tables down and not leaving us alone. I have never experienced such rudeness and terrible customer service in my life. I would never go here or recommend this establishment ever. read more
