My husband have not been here in years. Today we remembered why. I ordered a Walts salad and my husband had the shrimp scampi. The scampi had too much lemon with an over abundance of basil as a garnish. The salad was fresh with a nice selection of ingredients. The champagne dressing was so tart it was inedible. I was glad I asked for it on the side. The salad would have been much better with dressing but we never saw our waitress Alexis again. She did appear with the bill for $45.00. There was no apology for her absence but she did offer me a new dressing choice for my 3/4 eaten salad. Thank goodness I had enough Ice tea to get it down. I felt better about all the calories I saved by eating a dry salad. Remember the days when a manager would stop by and ask how you meal and service was? Not so here. She walked past our table twice...nothing. I am assuming she was the manger, long hair curly and small stature. She seemed to have plenty of time to talk to a man at the bar and another table with some women at it. She passed our table twice to get to them. This was our first visit to any Charlston's location. When we asked the manager for suggestions, he raved about the steaks or anything from the grill. I ordered the prime rib and my husband ordered the sirloin. The steaks were unimpressive. They were tender and cooked as we requested but very bland. The salad and sides were good. Service was amazing. The only reason I took one star off is because the food was just bland. For what we paid, I was hoping for something "different " but our meals were pretty uneventful. I do recommend this place- however it's not somewhere I'm in a hurry to return to. I will probably return at some point but it will not be my first choice. Service was top notch though ! Upon arrival to this establishment, you are greeted, and promptly seated. There was a pretty long wait for the server to come over to the table after though. I ordered the 'Hickory Burger' and I thought it was subpar. It was nothing out of the ordinary. The burger lacked a spark to set it apart from other restaurants. Service was slow but the waitress was very kind. Don't check on us a lot, which is fine. Food. Was. Divine. I ordered salmon and my husband had the pork chops. And we're both usually hard sells when it comes to food quality. The short smoked salmon came with a grain mustard sauce and sat on top a bed of dill cucumbers. I opted for mixed veggies instead of creamed corn, which was the seasonal veggie. My fish also came with a salad - I opted for the house salad with herbal vinaigrette. The greens were crisp and it came with house made croutons and bacon. A deliciously light honey butter croissant came on the side of the salad. My husband ate it because I made him drop his Annie's pretzel in the parking lot when we left the mall (right before we stopped here), but from the small taste I had before he inhaled it, it was delicious as well. My husband enjoyed his pork chop well done with rice (which isn't on the menu, but is available) and the creamed corn. The portions were huge. We both had enough to take home for later, and not for lack of trying to finish. We were happy. Next time, I'd like to try the dessert (too). read more

Charleston's has 19 locations in the United States, and generally places with many locations I don't often go to, because I'm a big supporter of small and local businesses. Especially when it comes to a steak place in Omaha LITERALLY THE HOME OF STEAKS. But guys the food is massive and if I went there on my period I would probably cry tears of joy. Because twas lit. The spinach dip. Gooood. The steak and potato. My steak was cooked perfectly. And my potato had these glorious cascades of cheese that *Italian chef finger kiss* rocked my world. Fudge brownie with ice cream. Literally it's a jumbo version of the little debbie brownie which some may find gross while I however am v into. But most importantly, the service was great. Clarissa, our waitress, should get infinity raises and Charleston's should buy her a house or something in Omaha so she never leaves. My time there was great and after 5 years of driving by it, I'll definitely go there next time I'm in the mood for a solid meal. Only way to make this place 5 stars was if they bought the chuck e cheese next door so I could play skeeball while I eat a steak. Think about it. read more

Had lunch at this restaurant recently. The service and food were excellent! My daughter and I had a hard time deciding what to order because everything sounded so good. We ordered the Queso and Chips appetizer, Shrimp salad and Chicken vinagrette salad. Everything was good portions for a reasonable price. Queso and chips was amazing! Best queso I have ever had and the chips that came with it were perfect. Will definitely eat here again when I'm in Omaha next time. Only thing I wish they had was an outdoor patio area. They had a big space on the sidewalk next to the restaurant that would make for a great outdoor seating area. read more

Saturday was my first time eating at this restaurant. I must say it was very nice inside and calm. Me and my date both enjoyed our food. The employees was nice and helpful. First time here. In town for visiting family for Thanksgiving and decided on recommendation to give it a try. We had a party of 8... 6 adults and 2 kids (8 and 12) 1st they put us in a 6 person booth leaving us squeezed in. We placed our orders kids ordered cheesburgers one was no onion no lettuce the other burger ordered everything. Food arrives and the kids recieved kids burgers which are plain burgers no condiments at all. Turns out thats the way kids burgers are supposed to be. To me, the server should have said something about it since the kids ordered something specific. They ordered from the menu just like the adults. Considering we were on a schedule we couldnt afford the time for a refire. Everyone else had good food, i would go back but i would hope that servers learn their menu and dont make assumtions. read more

I ordered a prime rib that can only be described as chewy and I was charged .75 for the olives in my martini! WHO CHARGES FOR GARNISH? So bad it's laughable. Seriously, dont waste your time. Our first visit was Valentines Day. I have several food restrictions and require the gluten free menu. I always ask a lot of questions. On the gluten free menu it mentions that you have the bread excluded/ taken away in order to stay gluten free. I do not know how other people feel but when I see items taken away I feel somewhat cheated. A restaurant in our home town offers gluten free rolls at their cost of $1 for their patrons who want or need gluten free. Why can't Charleston's? After all these rolls can be stored in the freezer until needed. The next questions I have for the staff involves salad dressing. Avoiding soybean oil and canola oil can be loads of fun. The staff always has to go ask the kitchen staff. The waiter came back and said they had nothing without those ingredients. I commented that I would need to bring my own dressing and he responded that many people did. I am tired of spending over $100 on a meal and not getting bread if I would like some. I am also very tired of going in upscale restaurants and having to carry in my little cooler bag with my salad dressings. If I ask for just olive oil and vinegar you have to make sure you are not getting an "olive oil blend" which has a token amount of olive oil with soybean oil. Otherwise our meal was great. The service was great. I just saw a commercial on tv touting how great their food and ingredients were. It amazes me that people in the food industry seem to be unaware of the dangers in so many of our foods especially soy and canola and anything that has been sprayed with glyphosate. I am sure it has to do with costs. considering the prices on the menu and the fact that many of us are willing to pay a little more to get safe ingredients the company could afford to upgrade. read more

I stopped in to get a takeout order. They were very busy. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich with avocado and it was delicious. It also had cheese, tomato and bacon. There was sprouts too but I took most of them off. They have really good coleslaw also. I've eaten quite a few things at Charlestons and it's kind of been hit or miss but this sandwich was very good. It saddens me greatly to write this review because this was one of my mother's favorite restaurants. She loves this place so much that she chose this location for my bridal shower on 9/24/2016. When she set up the time for the party, the management assured her that she would have 15 minutes to set up for the party (this was 1:45pm). We were not allowed to enter the room until 2pm. My guests were already arriving while we were setting up the decorations. We let this go because we also knew there was another party prior to ours. We understand that the restaurant cannot really control how long it takes for other guests to leave, let alone trying to make the room pristine for another party. We sincerely understood this. The real issues started when one of our servers slammed the plates on the table, and proceeded to toss them about in front of my guests. Her attitude was definitely palpable, so we tried our best to be as respectful as possible. After the plate issue, she tired of laying the flatware bundles, so she tossed them in the center of the tables and on the ends of the tables. The other servers did their best to take our drink orders, but they were constantly mixed up. No one complained or was rude to the staff about it, though (at least from what I could tell). We all understand the service industry, and there were 30 of us. It happens. Two of my guests decided to go to the bar to order drinks and overheard said server speaking inappropriately and rudely about our party. The manager was standing right next to her, so it can only be assumed that he heard her. My guests attempted to let the manager know how displeased they were with this, but they were completely ignored. As I have stated, I understand the service industry. I am certified in hospitality management with the National Restaurant Association. I understand the difficulties behind running a kitchen as well as front of house and what had happened was completely unacceptable. If this server had an issue, she should have waited until she could go to the back of the house to complain with her coworkers (like every good server does). Once I hear from my guests that servers are making rude comments about them, there is most definitely a problem with the level of professionalism in this restaurant. The fact that the manager would actually allow their staff to treat guests this way floors me. The fact that the manager completely ignored two guests who had a legitimate complaint is insulting to the profession. We will be contacting the owner of this establishment because clearly the manager has as little respect for his guests as his waitstaff. read more

This place is awesome I came here to celebrate my mom birthday. We was seated very quickly before i could get a word out the waitress was right there ready to serve us. She took our order and answered our questions. I ordered the kc strip steak, it was cooked to perfection my baked potato was very good, and my string green beans was delicious. My mom love their buttered rolls and she loved her prime rib. The waitress was very good at making sure our drinks was full at all times. Cindy and I went there Easter Sunday at 1:00. We were greeted and seated quickly, and that was the end of the good stuff! We were informed our server would be David. We sat there totally ignored for about 5 minutes until another male server stopped by, and asked if anyone had taken our drink order. We told him no, and he was nice enough to do so. He brought our drinks out, and again we were informed our server would be David. After 10 more minutes of servers walking past us without a word, we realized that David must have been kidnapped by UFOs, I dropped $2 on the table for the iced tea, and we left. We drove 60 seconds away to Longhorn Steakhouse where they were more than happy to serve us. I cannot speak to the food quality since we never received anything at all! The three young ladies standing by the door did wish us a nice day as we left, so I guess our visit did end well! read more

This is NOT like the Charlestons on West Dodge, the reliable quality, service and food there did not make it here. Salmon Short Stack is a different cut, flat and bland and not smoked. The turkey burger we ordered was actually ground beef( and drier than even ground turkey would have been ). There were tons of servers, bussers, coffee pourers and water pourers but they never came to our table. Entrees took forever to arrive and when I asked what appeared to be the head waiter he explained that he was only the conductor in the symphony and everyone had to play their part. (How about you play the part of a server?) he was much too busy showing off his arm's length tattoo to the table next to us. (Doesn't do much for my appetite.) the ribs were good, other entrees very poor. The pourers continuously tried to take my plate while the other two were still eating ( see rule #5 in fine dining ) and atleast 4 times I asked them to leave my plate until the others were done (no communication by the conductor, I guess ) Then, after we were all done, illustrated man convinced us to order the chocolate dessert. I ordered coffee, the chocolate dessert never arrived. We received coupons in the mail recently only good at the new location. I have been here twice in the past month and have gotten the same thing. I got the soup and salad combo with a regular salad and potato soup! The salad is so fresh with great ranch and a roll. The soup is filled with potatoes and super rich and creamy! The hostesses have always been really really nice. Servers are average but do not go above and beyond. My mom said their burger was good and my boyfriend enjoyed the chicken finger player but did not care for the Coke slaw. Overall a great restaurant with some damn good soup and salad read more

Went here with a group of work friends for lunch. The place was packed! I am not normally a salad kind of person, but gave the Chicken Spinach Waldorf Salad a try and it was excellent! My colleagues had the Caesar and said it was very anchoviey, whatever that means? The server was very attentive but did get a deer in the highlights look when helping my vegetarian coworker. She initially ordered the enchilada without chicken, only to have the waitress come back and say they were pre-made so they couldn't take the meat out. Oookay, didn't realize this was McDonalds. When asked what could be made vegetarian she had to go back to the kitchen and when she came back her answer was "you could have a salad". Really? In this day and age it boggles the mind that the restaurant does not have at least one vegetarian options or, lacking that, at least be prepared to modify an entree to give all of the customers menu options. read more

Excellent experience the food for everyone was great. We all shared samples with each other. We had never been to this restaurant we were celebrating with a large group and the waitress was awesome very friendly and went above and beyond to make this an excellent experience. The kids loved the large burgers. The place smelled so good when we walked in and the atmosphere was welcoming. Great dining experience. The entire evening was perfect. I don't think you could go wrong with anything on the menu. Everyone took home a portion of their food the restaurant has generous portions. So much so that we did not have room for dessert! Guess we need to go back! Really can't say enough about the kindness our waitress showed grandpa and grandma..she didn't rush them and had suggested several items so sweet! Very disappointed in this last visit. I will state right away that our waiter seemed new. However. We were a group of three couples and only two people out of six had their orders correct and one of those two who ordered the prime rib said it was so tough she had a hard time cutting it! One had to remind the waiter that he ordered coffee three times before it came. We have been going to Charleston's for several years but I will be reluctant to go again any time soon. Went in on a Sat at 8pm, got seated right away. We were excited for a nice meal, and noticed that the restaurant wasn't busy at all, and we were the only ones in our section. Needless to say, it took about 20 minutes for our order to get placed and we were there for nearly an hour before our food was served. The meal was delicious, but our waitress simply disappeared frequently. Despite her polite manner, her disappearing act caused frustration. I have been a customer of Charleston's for many years but my recent visit to this location where the manage Vince Fletcher disrespected and insulted my Sorority and its members was another example of the climate in which we are living. We are professional African-American women with over 300,000 members worldwide. The level of overt racism was unbelievable. Promises and arrangements made during the call for preparation were not complied with. We are not a group of women who cause a scene or controversy. Again we are professional women. Vince Fletcher was not trying to hear what we had been told by Mike another manager who previously took our call and reservation. Since was the culmination of our years activities in the community and celebration of accomplishments for the year, we were ready to spend money and enjoy our sisterhood. Vince was even rude to our Chapter President. Of course, we left the establishment and went across the street to Longhorn Steakhouse where we were greeted and treated above our expectations. We had a party of over 20 women. I am encouraging all African-Americans both in Omaha and nation-wide to boycott ALL Charleston's restaurants due to the lack of respect and the comments made regarding "You People". read more
