Oh this place was BAD! My wife and I went to Charlestons on Dodge for dinner on Valentine's day and what a mistake. We sat at the bar because the place was jam packed (expected). One of the bartenders that waited on us was very nice. We ordered the shrimp cargo appetizer. The shrimp was old, chewy and disgusting. My wife ordered the filet and I ordered the sirloin steak. Both were under flavored and rather leathery. The highlight was both the fly loaded baked potato and the potato soup. If you have the opportunity to eat here, skip it. read more

Just ok. With Applebee's across the parking lot for half the cost, this Charleston's is going to have to step it up. We have been to the one out west and were happy to see this one come closer to our neighborhood. We decided to try it on a Saturday at about 5:30. We were surprised at how many cars were in the lot at that time and concerned about the wait. We were told it would be 30-40 minutes, but we ended up only waiting a few minutes because we needed a large table and one had just opened up. We felt lucky! It is very nice inside. The nice, clean bathroom with tv in the mirror was impressive to my daughters. Our server was friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. The food was really just ok. I had a hard time even finding something exciting on the menu. We started with chips and quest because the kids were hungry and I knew they would dig into the chops. I got the chicken Parmesan. It was a lot of food, but nothing special. The salad was spinach, tomato and little balls of mozzarella. Fresh basil leaves instead of spinach would have been much more authentic. Again, just ok. My husband got a petite filet with blue cheese and sautéed mushrooms. He had no complaints. My son ordered the scampi, which was a new item for him to try. He liked it, which was a relief! The kids meal selections our younger children ordered were fine. Both my son and I brought home half of our meals, so the pasta portions were plentiful. The best part of the meal? Everything was delicious, service was excellent! We started with the shrimp cargot appetizer. It was very good, shrimp in butter sauce covered with melted havarti cheese and served with perfectly grilled wedges of bread. Dinner salad was one of the best I've ever had. Comes with egg, tomatoes and tasted like maybe even some tarragon leaves. It is served with a croissant with a little honey on it. Impressed with the variety of salad dressings, I think they listed 4 or 5 types of vinaigrettes. I chose the champagne citrus vinaigrette and was not disappointed. Also had pork chops with rice and veggies. Big portion, cooked medium was juicy and perfect. Ate lunch with a party of 7. Loved the large booth they seated us in - conducive to talking. I think everyone enjoyed their meal but me (this is why I have three stars opposed to zero). I ordered the salmon Caesar salad. The salad was seriously confusing: it came with tomatoes, cucumbers and a small piece of salmon. Who puts tomatoes and cucumbers in a Caesar salad? The kicker? The salad came with NO DRESSING????? I would have asked for dressing but a server did not stop by until it was time to pack up everyone's food with boxes. At that point it was too late. We had a party of 12 on Father's Day and for the most part it was very good. Everyone had a different entree and we all thought the food was very good. The wait staff was excellent except it took longer than acceptable to get our bill. Also, when we asked if they would turn on the TV so we could watch the US Open, they said it would be $50! I guess they're charging everyone until the TV is paid off!!!!! Very weird! We all looked at each other like they were kidding, but they weren't! They then came back and said since it was Father's Day, they would turn in on at no cost - then it didn't work!!!! We were treated to a wonderful dining experience on our first day of vacation in Omaha. The entire staff is extremely friendly and helpful but Megan (our Server) is a true asset and I recommend asking for her specifically. She assisted us in navigating through the menu and made recommendations that were spot- on and fabulous!!! I strongly recommend the Shrimp Scampi and the Catch of the day. I have season tickets to the Omaha Community Playhouse, and typically we dine before heading to the performance. I had purchased a group of 12 tickets and called Charleston's for reservations, as we had done once before. The first time, we had an AMAZING time, so we thought our repeat was becoming tradition. The server was "our age" middle aged woman with a charming personality. It was 5:45 when we meandered from the bar to the table, and we announced we had to leave by 7pm for our performance, 7:15 was our "drop dead" time. We had one gal arriving late, so we asked to just go ahead and order, and she could order & catch up when she arrived. The server assured us there was no problem - we had plenty of time. Our friend arrived, our server was so amazingly calm even thought the place was packed. We asked to please order, and reminded her we truly needed to be finished and leaving around 7pm. This time she was rather animated in her assurance that we had PLENTY of time - relax, enjoy the evening. You can guess where this is headed. Our food arrived, but there were several plates that were prepared incorrectly. Some of the gals allowed them to correct the problem, for me, I just ate the amazingly yummy steak but left the balance of the meal, as I needed to pay and get to the venue to get our will-call tickets and get things lined up for my friends I had left behind. They were left behind because when the checks came, many of the checks were wrong and had to be recalculated. Ironically, the re-calculations actually needed to ADD money to the checks because some things had been omitted that we needed to pay for. Three of us actually ended up standing OUTSIDE of the doors of the performance and missed the opening acts because they will not seat you once the performance begins until a transitions happens that will not interrupt the pleasure of the other ticket holders. I contacted management, and I explained what had happened. The manager was concerned, and thought we should share our story with his manager, I think he said Vince, to hear the story. He took my contact information. I was never contacted. I'm thinking of this this morning because this evening is yet another performance, but I have 11 friends who now have quite a few jokes and one-liners to say about Charlestons. I must say, I often organize evenings with colleagues and friends, and I had some very high hopes for this to be our new "go to" spot before mid-town activities, but this was such an expensive evening in the terms of embarrassment, missing some of our long-awaited performance, incorrect and/or incomplete food orders and no time to correct - it was a complete disaster. There was no excuse for having a standing reservation, giving them the terms of our dining, and yet having this happen. As good and amazing as the food and atmosphere is, the lack of follow-through from management, the carelessness with order accuracy, check accuracy, and inability to meet our timing needs without warning all can be summed up with this: Cannot go there unless I have an abundance of time. read more

The young lady that served us was wonderful. That is the only thing that I can say positive for a place that was too expensive for what we got. My daughter's steak was way overcooked and I'm not talking ordering medium rare and getting medium. It was a piece of leather. My steak if you can call it was was overcooked and tasted more like horse than cow. I ordered medium rare and it came out well done. Plus, what did I pay for the three of us to enjoy this food? $120. We've eaten there dozens of times! The artichoke dip is a must. The croissant with the salad is a treat. Everyone always loves the flavor and quality of their steaks. One suggestion - for vegetarians, I wish they would add a nice pasta dish to their menu. read more

I went to eat here on Christmas Eve and everything was great! Wonderful prime rib....very tender !! The only bad points were that we had just gotten our salads and our entrees came out. Also the au jus for the prime rib was EXTREMELY salty. Couldn't even eat eat it. Would definitely go back!! read more

A review from one of my 8th grade students: Charleston's Pros Clean Fancy Good Service Quality Food Cons Pricey I have been to Charleston's a ton of times to say that it is a solid restaurant. It has been one of the cleanest places I have ever been too. We never have to wait for a table when we go at a decent time. If we do, the max will only be about 15 minutes or so. This restaurant is great for families and for adults during happy hour. It's not really a loud place, and it can be very relaxing. I look forward to going to Charleston's because of their croissants are to die for! It is fluffy, flavorful, and drizzled with a bit of honey. Another food platter I love is the Spinach Dip. I could literally eat this every single day, it's so delicious. Plus, their chips come out warm and it's amazing. Another great appetizer is the shrimp cargot. It is shrimp in a bowl with 5 separate holes for the shrimp. It is drowned in butter with melted cheese on top of it, it also comes with sides of bread to eat the shrimp with. I would totally recommend this appetizer because, it's the right amount of food and it's not too filling before your main meal. Charleston's does a great job on making sure you always have your pop refilled or seeing if you need anything. This restaurant really makes me feel welcomed and cosy. Yes, the food might be in the higher price range but it is not to bad. It honestly just depends what you get and if you add anything else to it. Like the steaks will probably be on the higher range because it is always a pricey food item. I think that Charleston's is a very solid restaurant for families or even a date night because it is clean, fancy, has good service, and great quality. Even though, the prices are sometimes high it is totally worth it. Went to this little restaurant during a corporate training session in Omaha Nebraska and it had a great atmosphere, great service, my filet mignon, fried okra, and seasoned vegetable medley were all succulent, and last but not least, the key lime pie was most excellent!!!! read more

Pretty sad tonight. Have been to Charleston's at least 100 times in the past several years, and 99.9% of the time it's a generic, but consistently good. Tonight I ordered Prime Rib medium, came more rare than what my wife ordered. My daughters Shirley Temple didn't have cherries, because, "we are out", our drink order took over 20 minutes, to which we did get them comp'd. Overall, pretty poor job tonight. read more

Went on a Friday night after a long day at work for a date night. It was our first time there and we live two blocks away so we thought we'd give it a try, especially after hearing good things. We were seated immediately and someone took our drink order. 25 minutes went by and no one brought us our drinks or acknowledged us in any way even though the tables around us were all getting service. My party of six had a wonderful dining experience! We were waited on by Cameron who was excellent: poised, attentive, and a true professional. Our meals were served promptly and everything was well cooked and presented. I had the pork chops, mashed potatoes, and baked beans. The pork chops were juicy, thick, and generous: the mashed potatoes were perhaps the best I have ever eaten, and the beans were more of a chili than a baked bean but still tasty. Went there for a late lunch. The chicken fried steak is a joke. What appears on the plate is a massive cutlet, but don't be fooled. The amount of breading is twice that of the cutlet. The person that came up with the gravy recipe should be fired. It was chunky. I get its not the tradition cream gravy, but this was barely edible. read more

The atmosphere and service was okay. Nothing was above and beyond what I expected, but that's okay because they did everything well and made our first time here a great experience. This location is prime, as it offers a different vibe in an area surrounded by fast food. The menu selection offers a great variety, especially if you dine with rather picky eaters. The wait staff was great and the manager took a genuine interest in our dining experience. I got the chicken tender platter with two sides and walked away with leftovers. My mother got the fish and chips and absolutely loved it! I can see myself going back to dine if I'm in the area, but I wouldn't necessarily drive all across town just to be here. We had chicken fried steak with fries and Cole slaw for dinner. Chicken fried steak was the bomb tasted awesome with great seasoned gravy. Unfortunately the fries which we asked to be extra crispy were soggy and the Cole slaw had no flavor and a funny smell. Emma our waitress was great and kept out glasses of tea and Coke full. We had a party of 15 for dinner last night in a separate room. However, they made our party wait in the lobby until all had arrived. We asked for champagne glasses and it took over twenty minutes to get them and then there were only twelve. Another wait to find out that they only had twelve in house. Service was never better than fair for the entire evening. The salad was great. Prime rib was fine and the potatoes were cold. I would not choose this restaurant for a large party again. read more
