My family used to come eat here in person (at the original location at boys town exit) for years when I was in high school so I have fond memories for deeper reasons than most. But the food continues to evolve - yet stay the same - when it should. Today I tried the Dynamite Shrimp Salad (normally I get the Caesar or Cobb -- both equally delish) and I was blown away. Seriously new fave salad. You can test the waters by ordering the shrimp app first. If you like that and greens - get this salad!! You will not be disappointed. ALWAYS get an extra side of the croissants or you WILL be mad at yourself. They are continually soft, sweet and worth the extra money. Other family faves are kale salad, Walt's salad, ribs (!!), baked potato soup and their glazed carrot side. I haven't eaten in house for years so can't comment on service, but remember it being awesome when we would dine in.

Absolutely the best!! From the wait staff to the dessert, we couldn't have asked for a better experience! We were seated right away, got some fantastic drinks (blackberry mule & lemon drop martini were fabulous!), appetizers were great, salads served with a fresh croissant, the steaks were perfection and the corn was crisp, sweet and delicious! Got our dessert to go and was pleasantly surprised with the pineapple upside down cake and vanilla ice-cream back at our room. Would most definitely dine there again!!

What a fantastic place to eat dinner! I went with a group of friends before a fancy event and it was such a great experience. The place was clean, fancy enough for dresses but also not too fancy where you can't wear jeans and a t shirt. The waiter was so friendly. The food was great but the queso was exquisite!! The croissants were so soft and buttery. All the meats were good as well. We will certainly be back!

Charlestons has been my go-to steak spot for over 20 years Through the years management has changed, locations have changed but the food has always remained the same high quality. I always get the filet with a baked potato and house salad with their home-made blue cheese dressing. I promise you'll never have blue cheese dressing better than theirs. You won't find a better made baked potato with perfect crispy, salty skin. You won't find a better prepared steak. And lastly you won't find a nice big flakey, buttery croissant with honey drizzled on top like charlestons The only negative I will give is I miss the ambiance of the older location. It was dimly lit and had a cozier family vibe compared to the new brightly lit more open, modern design Other than that all of their food is top notch. I know other family really enjoy their shrimp scampi and noodle dishes. They also make killer bread pudding when it's on the menu!

Had a nice meal to help celebrate our wedding anniversary. Would appreciate the staff doing a little more to make it more memorable, but the food was great. Kids had the burger and ribs. Both were cooked perfectly. Had the 1/2 chicken, which had so much flavor and the salad was really good. It came with a croissant, which was delicious. Kind of wish they gave enough for the table. Hard to split 5 ways. I liked that they had Coke products. It was pretty quiet at 5 pm, but got busier towards the end.

I've been going to Charleston's as long as they've been in business, always had great food, always had great service. I'm not sure how long it's been on the menu, but they now have fried chicken and they knocked it out of the park. I've had a two weeks in a row now. Once inside and wants to go. Both times incredible.

Charleston's has been my family's go-to "what should we eat for dinner" restaurant since I've been a kid. I was sad to see it leave the old location, but I was happy to hear they were keeping the same menu. My husband and I visited the new location last week and had a really good meal. We started with the chips and queso, which I had never had, but it was great - a little spicy! I had a chicken and avocado club. This was a nice, large portion and tasted light and fresh. My husband had the enchilada plate, and he was also impressed by his meal. The only note I have is the ambiance - it is LOUD. I feel like the dark, moody feel of the old building inherently lent itself to using quieter voices, but the bright, new location does not. I hope the invest in some kind of noise-reducing infrastructure, because I know I'm not the only person to notice the voice level.

First time trying charlestons and everything was delicious. Enchiladas were super tasty, and the croissants were some of the best I have ever had. I will definitely be back to try more things.

I've been in a lot but first time at the new location! Atmosphere and service are both great and fast--just as they were in the old spot. The salad (I subbed shrimp) is amazing--one of my favorites in town! This time it didn't come with as much dressing as usual which was disappointing, but all in all they are a very consistent spot and have a great variety, paired with excellent service!

Always have to get their shrimp dynamite salad!! So beyond good and they're croissants!! Their martinis are always hitting the spot as well!

My hubby works right across the street and I have never been to Charleston's. Well, what can I say? It's beautiful in the restaurant our waiter was friendly, outgoing and pretty cool. Lunch was delicious. Lots of options to choose from and they sometimes have promotions. I had gotten a sandwich and it was pretty big so I was only able to eat one half, but I had something for later. I got home, my son saw the box and I got suckered out of the other half. He loved it too. This review has been a long time coming, so I think I will be planning our next date night.

They definitely have/had some pretty high prices compared to other eateries in the area. I'm not sure if that is caused by cost of goods or location or what, but I think that did come into play when a lot of economic hardship is happening all over. Like I mentioned above, I DID like their food, but it definitely had to be a special occasion type of thing, due to the high prices. When we did go, I LOVED the Maryland Crab Dip. It reminded me of my favorite crab dip in the world, at the SweetWater Brewing Company in Atlanta. We also had the Green Bean Almandine that was on special last time we went and that was pretty good, but you have to be a green bean fan, for sure. I decided to try the sushi as my main dish last time, and had the Everything Crunch Maki, which consisted of cooked salmon, jalapeño, and cream cheese. It was pretty good, and had a little hint of spice to it from the jalapeño, which cut the heavy cream aspect. My husband had the Grilled Atlantic Salmon for his entree, and gave me a few bites. It was cooked well and the mushroom risotto below it was very flavorful and filling. The cute nautical ambiance and excellent service were always appreciated, so no complaints there either. I think if they had been in a different area with less expensive rent and cost of goods, I may have visited more often.

This spot was right by the hotel in Old Market, and we were early enough to get right in and grab a nice table (during happy hour, no less). The vibes are clean, nautical without being cheesy, and bright. The service was equally bright and helpful, and everything was flowing. On a super hot day, I had a Tom Collin's that was great and refreshing. Our group shared calamari with a top tier dipping sauce, an "aji verde" sauce that was new to me but I would buy it by the pint. We also shared their truffle fries and the side of mustard aioli was great as well. Best fries in a while. For my main, I got the blackened Mississippi catfish that was served over dirty rice, green beans, tomatoes, and a crawfish beurre blanc. It was as good as it sounds, I ate every bite on the plate. Okay, so let's recap: Amazing location? Check. Great service? Check. Good specials/happy hour? Check. Great food? Major check. Hard to top, I'll go here everytime I'm in the area and it was hard not to go back twice.

Honestly, we weren't that... impressed, but we gave it a valiant go on both meals chosen! Kinda bummed there wasn't a drink menu with cocktails, but they had a great selection of wine ranging from $100-$500 a bottle. So, we stuck with water. Bread and creamy butter was dropped off while we waited and who can't resist a warm roll? Got the Trail Boss Prime Rib, with salad bar, and baked potato side was requested as medium. The au ju lacked flavor, and only lasted a few bites before not used at all. The baked potato was delish though! Prime rib was very tender, a lot of cap which was nice, but it was just sorta.. average. I snagged their Teriyaki Tenderloin Kabob on a bed of wild rice, salad bar, and asparagus side (probably the first restaurant I've seen that's offered asparagus as an actual side), requested well done. By all accounts it does look a bit charred, but when the veggies were pulled apart, they were warm and tender and paired well with the teriyaki and rice. That rice was delish! Asparagus didn't blow any air up my skirt unfortunately, because I really wanted it to blow my mind. I felt like we left a lot of food on our plates, but that could've just been how it was. We just felt... underwhelmed and wasn't picking up on all the hype.

Friendly service, comfy setting, and oh yeah - the food! Unfortunately for me, there is too much seafood on the menu but there's always something. People rave about the seafood dishes so I'll trust them and say it must be good. I'm just not into it. On this visit, we each ordered a cocktail. I decided to try the lemon martini which I never order and OH MY GOODNESS. It was awesome! They nailed it. The limoncello brought it home. My dining partner had a dirty martini and was satisfied as well. We enjoyed a Spezia salad which featured mixed greens, prosciutto, tomato, Kalamata olives, and a house vinaigrette. It all combined so well. The lettuce was wonderfully fresh, no need to pick out rotting leaves like some places. The dressing was simply light and delish. We shared a plate of spaghetti. You get several options to add to it. The grilled spicy Italian sausage sounded good. I'm not sure which was better. The sausage or the marinara sauce. Both were soooooo good!! The sausage was truly grilled and spicy and just amazing, and it was not greasy either. The marinara sauce challenged my own that I make at home. We devoured that plate of spaghetti which was big enough to share. I forgot to take a picture as it was served so I am sharing a tight shot of half the order after we divided it.

Spezia, you let me down!…read more Our waiter struggled to keep up with the dinner rush. We arrived for our reservation and were seated at 6:40 where we weren't greeted by our waiter for quite awhile. It took a long time to get our drinks and I had to ask for bread so we decided to skip appetizers and go straight to our entree. When ordering the entree our waiter said "and which salad would you like?" And then listed the salad options. Normally when ordering a main and the waiter says which salad do you want that's because the salad comes with the meal. Nope. We were charged $11 per salad that we didn't even really want. The salads were your average side salad, but thankfully had good dressings. We hadn't brought up salads, the waiter did when we ordered our entree. So we were disappointed to have $20+ in salads that we didn't request until the waiter offered them. Our salads were finished for at least 15 minutes before our main entree came out at about 7:30, nearly an hour after we had been seated. My shrimp scampi was good, the broccolini was a touch under cooked but the flavors were still good, and the shrimp was surprisingly large in size and cooked exactly how it should be. Had we been served quicker and not offered things that didn't come with our meal when ordering our meal we may have been happier, hard to say. The table next to us was sat about 10 minute after us and had a different waitress. They received their entire meal (including bread & apps) and left before we were offered dessert. The food is good, I won't discredit that at all. But when coming to a restaurant like this you are expecting a level of service that we just didn't get. I'm sure we'll try again in the future and if service is better I will definitely update my review but for now, this was a let down of a birthday dinner.

This was a business dinner with colleagues. We started at the bar and the bartender was great. Seating is comfy and the décor is very nice. They offer all the top shelf spirits you might want that area mainstream. The bartender was able to do anything you want with them. The food offered there is the full menu, so we started with some onion rings to nosh on while drinking. Those onion rings were very interesting, with a thicker dough-style breading, they were very good. Next was to sit down for dinner and I apologize for forgetting our server's name, but he's been there about 15 years and he was great! Perfect amount of attention to our party, great pace, great suggestions too. The menu was tough, as there were several options, so I asked him to choose for me - he did a nice job. What was delicious: hash browns (outstanding), green beans, creamed corn, sourdough bread, What was subpar: Beef tartare--probably one of the worst I've ever eaten. Took one bite, it was stringy. Hoped I didn't get sick. Unpleasant texture. Not mixed tableside, we mixed the raw egg into the dish ourselves. Three steaks were severely undercooked. My steak (bone in filet special) was MR, I asked for MW. It tasted as if it was marinated low quality beef, chewy, difficult to cut, (yes, this filet was not easy to cut with a quality steak knife), odd texture. colleagues steak was basically raw (appeared bloody red)--he'd requested MR, sent it back to kitchen twice! Another colleagues steak was very Rare. Steaks were really disappointing as was the preparation. Our party of five was surprised when the steak was returned still undercooked. Considering the quality of my bone in filet steak and the undercooked steaks, I won't return to this location. There's a kitchen issue that needs to be resolved and the manager when that steak was recooked for second time should have observed it was still very rare when he delivered it because our table of five all did. Less than stellar experience due to the subpar beef tartare and steaks.

And my friend got the chipotle potatoes au gratin and said he could barely get the potato flavor. We all had the three course meal and most of us got the steak. We all ordered at different temperatures including medium well and they all came out rare or just uneven. It was good flavor and it wasn't too chewy so we all just ate it with no complaints! Along with the three course meal was a mini dessert so we all tried each and they all fell flat. We did get them to-go so maybe that had something to do with it but even a simple brownie wasn't anything great.
