Stayed at four seasons and this place is right next door, even gave me a coupon for free app. Walk in and the ambiance is classy but not pretentious, a warm Morton's kind of feel. The bar was awesome, great service, real recommendations and easy going. They made a great old fashion made from their own barrel of redemption. Off the recommendation, I started with the escargot, and ordered the wagyu filet. Decided to treat myself. The snails were great. Light but loaded with garlic, butter and just tasty. The bread and salad also, great! The wagyu filet was cut and cooked to order.. perfect. So good. Then ... yup, desert. Their favorite butter cake. So good. Wow! I didn't know I was waiting for that meal!! Fantastic Have to say the service was great and as good as the food was the service is what capped off this 5 star experience. Next time in Tampa, give it a try!!!

The personalization that Charley's showed me and my friends for our birthday, was unmatched! To start, Paul the manager was so sweet and made sure to check in on us throughout the night. We had an amazing server, Kelli (Hope I spelt that right!) who went over all our options, and was very attentive the entire time. Now, the food! I had the Pork Chop and it was seasoned perfectly! It was a thick, tender cut of Chop. I forgot pictures of our sides but the garlic mash was amazing! The lighting in the restaurant and overall ambiance was welcoming also. Please check them out, you will not be disappointed. Once again, thank you to Charley's for an amazing experience!

Second time at Charley's, same occasion, two years apart and overall, a very similar experience. The food was sensational. My steak was cooked to perfection, but I didn't enjoy the sides as much this time around. The cheese bread was new to me (don't remember having it last visit) and unfortunately, it wasn't my favorite. That said, the Cherry Whiskey Sour cocktail was a solid 10/10. Pro tip always get the butter cake. No exceptions.

Went here for my wife's birthday, they truly made it a special occasion. They did their steak show explaining every cut & how they're aged. Food was to die for! Not a big fan of scallops but we tried them and now I like them. Steak melted in the mouth, lamb was a bit too raw for me but was still really good. The two of us couldn't finish the shareable side, it's a good size for the price. If you like old fashions, my wife said they made a killer one

Listen, this is the place to be on a Friday! This spot was recommended to us while we were in town celebrating my nephew's 30th birthday, and from start to finish, we had a great time. The presentation and service were on point. We started with the lobster and our only regret of the night. It was $125 and unfortunately overcooked, so I wouldn't recommend it. Everything else, though, was amazing! The drinks were superb (I had two and was feeling it and I'm not a lightweight!). The steaks were perfectly seasoned, and the sides were delicious too. Overall, it was a great experience, and when I'm back in Tampa, I'll definitely be returning to Charley's

Rarely do I give 5 stars but Charley's is worth it. What an amazing dinning experience from the staff to the food. This is my second trip in many years since we're two hours away. If you're in town you need to try this place

Came in here for a special occasion with my BF's family and we were treated very well. Our waitress was very attentive and the vibe of the restaurant itself feels almost like a smoking room. I don't go to steakhouses often so its always a unique experience for me. The food was very delicious, and we practically had to be rolled out by the end of the night we were so stuffed. I believe I got the filet mignon with béarnaise sauce and we split a few sides. We got some desserts to share too and I honestly could have maybe skipped that since I was so full lol. I would definitely return to Charley's, I just plan to be more mindful of my portion intake :D

Outstanding from beginning to end. We were quickly seated upon arrival for our reservation. Drinks were expertly prepared and served quickly. Beautiful venue with steaks cooked on an open fire pit for all to see. Our server Rob and his team took wonderful care of us and explained all the cuts of meat available. The manager Paul stopped by our table a few times to ensure everything was to our satisfaction. He also brought us an amuse; meatballs made from the scraps of meat leftover when cutting steaks in a fantastic Marsala sauce. Excellent!!

I'm from out of town and this steakhouse was a surprise for me. The outside of the establishment felt like thr inside would be similar but the inside was actually quite nice with dim lighting to set the mood. I would say this is a nice date night spot. Our server was nice as far as the bare minumum requirement for this establishment. But he wasn't the worst either. They have a Colossal Lobster they serve here and I believe it's about 24oz which is significantly bigger than the normal 17oz. This was our appetizer and we got it broiled because we didn't want frying the lobster to take away from the flavor which was the best decision. We got the Porterhouse steak to share along with lobster mac n cheese (The steak came with a house sala + cheese garlic bread) & honestly this all SO MUCH FOOD. The food did not fall short of our expectations and honestly the steak needed no extra flavors because it was so perfectly season and tender. We got the steak medium and I would definitely suggest it this way. ( If you are a well done steak person, please do not come here as it will be alot of money and it feels like a waste to cook a perfectly good steak well done - just my opnion) The cost is on the higher end but it is a nice splurge for a date night just once in a while.

Spent Father's day here and we were sat immediately and to add valet parking is complimentary. We were greeted by our server soon after and she was very pleasant "Patrice". We had salads and bread, the salad was a pretty good size and the dinner rolls arrived warm. Both were very delicious so be careful and pace yourself "lol". I had one of the featured steaks which was an 11oz steak and it was prepared perfectly for my taste and it was very tender. My wife had the filet with two colossal shrimp. We also split a shared amount of garlic mash potatoes. We also order the colossal lobster tail and it was suggested to get it fried. It was so good but more than we could eat. I'd recommend this dish for at least four or more diners. And for desert we shared a piece of chocolate cake. We really enjoyed our night out here and we will definitely return

We had the most enjoyable meal at Charley's Steakhouse in the wine cellar private room for my cousins graduation. It was quiet and perfect for conversations. The service was amazing, including the steak presentation. We enjoyed calamari, wedge salad and the bison ribeye. It was incredible. We loved the lobster mac and cheese and the cauliflower. All of our drinks were delicious. I would highly recommend this spot.

Just an absolute perfect steak house experience, delicious steaks, great service, private room that was elegant for our group. They treated us very well! Highly recommend!

Ask the Community - Charley's Steak House

I registered last week on your website, but never got an email for my birthday?

Mine was in my promotions tab, sent from talk of the town.

It it permissible for me to bring a special bottle of wine (that is not on your wine list) with an appropriate corkage fee?

Yes Tim our corkage fee is $25 a bottle with a 2 bottle maximum

Does Charley's offer a Happy Hour menu?

No. But after you eat there, you wouldn't want the menu to change anyway. Enjoy!

Do they offer a kid's menu?

Yes, I believe so. We took our two toddler granddaughters. They enjoyed grilled hotdogs, while we ate steaks.

Charley's have a new policy, where they put a party of 10 or more on one bill and they only split it between 4 cards?

Angela yes our policy is any group of 6 or more will be on one check but we can take up to 4 credit cards towards the bill.

Is it frowned upon to buy a larger 28oz steak to split between two people? Or in other words will they upcharge you for doing this?

Emma we have plenty of guest that split our larger steaks. It is not a problem we look forward to you coming in.

I signed up for the vip club and my Birthday is today, how do I get the free filet? I have not received anything from them yet.

Lisa if you could give me your email information I can look into it. Please send it to pherranz@tottrg.com

Does Charley's do anything special on your actual Birthday? Free meal, dessert, appetizers etc?

We belong to their club (forget the name), We get a free filet. Great deal and as always a wonderful experience.

The inside is very spacious and whimsically decorated with a few different seating options: regular table and chairs but also couch/loveseats with tables and chairs. Our server was attentive and friendly and super knowledgeable about the menu and the plentiful gluten free options/swaps (they have gluten free bread). For brunch, we ordered deviled eggs, whipped feta, lobster Benedict, sweet potato hash, and the fish amandine. Everything was excellent. The fried oyster on the deviled eggs was inventive and super tasty. The whipped feta has pomegranate seeds sprinkled on top which made for a yummy sweet and savory bite. Hubbys sweet potato hash was flavorful and filling. The lobster bennys had quite a bit of lobster and the old bay hollandaise sauce was perfection. The fresh fish amandine was yellowtail snapper that came out with a beautifully crispy skin, a delicious brown butter almond sauce and sautéed green beans. (though still comically high) Rocca continues to be solid, if not spectacular. Two things I think hold it back; first, value. The prices feel too high relative to the portion/tastiness. A great comparison restaurant to Rocca would be Rezdora in Manhattan. I would put Rezdora a few rungs above Rocca in quality/flavor (it's one of the top 100 restaurants in NYC per the NY Times and has a Michelin star, very different than landing one in Tampa) yet the prices at Rocca are effectively the same (each have a traditional ragu at $28). You also don't have to look as far as Manhattan. Just across the bay is Elliott Aster who I think delivers more delicious food, in heartier portions, at a better price point. Given Rocca is perpetually fully-booked, Tampa is obviously okay with their prices, so I suppose 'don't hate the player' (you can't begrudge anyone from charging what they can in this restaurant environment), but for me the value isn't there. Second - I think the inside could use some work. Looking at Eliott Aster, Predalina, or Ponte you can see an example of more elevated interior design. I think Rocca comes off more kitschy than 'homey'.

The physical building itself is very unique, very old school... lot's of hidden hallways and tucked away rooms. Almost like a dungeon-exploring adventure (not a bad thing). The food was good. My wife enjoyed the foie gras ($34) tremendously. I enjoyed the lobster bisque (+$11 from included French onion soup with steak) moderately. (had a non-traditional "spice" to it) My wife orders the 8oz filet mignon, and I ordered the 14oz Delmonico (a.k.a. ribeye). The filet was very good, and the Delmonico was good. Neither were out-of-this-world (certainly not enough to warrant the exorbitant price). The baked potato (which mine included butter, cheese, and bacon) had a "bite" to it, something that I did not expect (or enjoy). It might be the butter... they say it was a sweet cream butter, but there was a tartness to it all that was off-putting. I also ordered a thrice-baked potato, just to try it out. It was awful! Bern's has often been rated as the #1 steak house in Tampa, but I just don't get it. Perhaps my unrefined palette is lost on all the Frenchy froo froo stuff. I feel like I could make everything they offered better myself... for a FIFTH of the price. Everything is just so expensive there, and at those prices, I need to feel like it is the best thing I've every had in my life. It was far from this. Additionally, the time it took was very long. I get it, this is a multi-course situation, and you're supposed to take your time and not be rushed. But I personally don't generally take 90 minutes from start to finish to each my food.... I'm just not that guy. The atmosphere and intimacy were great for special occasions, but all in all, I don't think we will be going back, ever.

We were well taken care of but they seemed to be spread thin because getting refills and getting our check took a bit longer than expected. One ssue was that the menu was very different from what was online via Google. I should have gone to their website I guess, but several items were not available and the filet I was so excited for had a very different set of items. No Brie au gratin potatoes or braised rainbow chard, citrus gremolata and a fig chutney. Now, let me say that my filet was delicious. I loved the sauce and the asparagus was good but for me, the potatoes were super underwhelming. A nice sauce or something would have made them better. She got fish and chips which she really enjoyed, so it was a win. The Asian wings were our appetizer and were delightful too. Now the only real negative for us was the noise. I wanted to go so bad because people laughing and talking made my head hurt. Would I go back? Probably not. I didn't enjoy how loud it was.
