The service at Ruth's Chris Steak House is always incredible. Wait staff is cordial, efficient, and willing to please. The food is also fantastic. We enjoy the shrimp and filet mignon each time we dine here. It is always cooked as ordered, and we never have leftovers. The mashed potatoes is our favorite side dish - smooth and creamy. I never can stop after one or two bites. This restaurant is also beautifully decorated, with a classy and comfortable feel. This was my original review: This place is well, over priced for what it is. It was my first time, and I do not know where they've got their price guide from but it needs some adjustment. The atmosphere is so loud, the decor is out dated. The price you pay is way out of line for what you get and the experience. The service was just ok. Our Server Angelo was alright. There was nothing to warrant the price at the end of the meal. I ordered the french onion soup and it tasted like a hot bottle of red wine. I told the server it was terrible, I did not like it at all and to take it away. I was told they would take care of it, yet the $15 charge was still on the bill for the little crock of soup they give you. The best part of the meal was the sweet potato casserole. The steaks are not very flavorful at all. Just is not what it I thought I was going to get. A very underwhelming experience. To which the restaurant replied with their comment to email to follow up. Outstanding!!!, we were in the area and decided to stop in to catch their Happy Hour ( 4-6 ). But with only 15 minutes left we decided to order off the dinner menu. Neither of us was starving but we did want a good meal. Our server "Matt" recommended the NY strip for me and my side was a huge baked potato. Honestly this was the best steak steak I've ever had. It was cooked perfectly, tender and savory. My wife order Ruth's chop salad and she had a couple slices of my steak. It was a very well portion salad but she stated it was so good that she wanted to finish it. She also thought the steak was very tasty. I actually ordered a caramel Apple-tini and it was delicious and this comes from a usually non drinker. Let me add that the CUSTOMER SERVICE from Matt, Serena and Guillermo, was beyond amazing and I'll only seek out them on my next visit. The Head waiter only stopped at our table twice and was very short. He was honestly concerned with an 8 top rather than our 2 top. The assistant waiter is who shined for us. He was very attentive, very professional. Brought birthday confetti for our table and spread it around the table for decoration. Nice touch!!! I guess that's what he's there for l. To pick up any slack. Well he did expertly!!! All in all the service was impeccable!!! The decor was what you would hope for at an upscale establishment. It was eye appealing!!! Other than a little loudness from the bar patrons. It was an enjoyable experience. We were in a side room, but the doors were facing the bar so the sound carried in. It made it a little challenging to have a nice conversation while we ate. The wall paper was so nice and had a flow that made us happy!!! For the meal!!! We started with some Pellegrino water and they also brought us a very nice bread and butter. The bread was very yummy and soft. We started with 2 apps. The Lobster Bisque and the Fried Calamari. Both apps were very very good!!! We would definitely order them again. We ordered the Porterhouse for 2 as our main dish. We requested medium temp and when it came out it was a nice big cut of meat. They even cut it into pieces at the table for you on a cutting board. Then they place 500 degree plates in front of you so you can keep your steak warm as you eat. The waiter starts by asking you what side you would like and cuts a slice off to show you how to move the steak to warm it/cook it more. Then you take over. They will even bring you a second plate if you request one as I did. The 4 star, instead of 5 is because the steak was definitely Medium Rare. I cooked steak many times in my 15 years working in a kitchen. I know steak temps. This was way too on the rare side for a requested medium. Hence the reason for the second hot plate and the 4 !!! The filet side was cooked a bit better than the strip side. We were able to cook both sides up a bit more before eating it with the hot plate. My daughter only had some of the filet side and I ate most of the strip. I also finished what she couldn't cook enough for her to eat from the filet side. Great for me, but wish she could've had more. The steak was still very flavorful and we enjoyed it so much!!! The closer!!! For our closer we chose the Crème Brûlée!!! 3 courses for $55, need I say more! The experience and food overall was worth this price. When you walk in it's a dimly lighted and elegant, the dining room was spacious and well maintained. As an appetizer I started with the Caesar salad- this was one of the next Caesar salads I have had in awhile, particularly because of the in house dressing they toss the salad in (10/10). For an entree I got the 6 oz petit filet with shrimp cooked medium- unfortunately my steak did come out overcooked and my friend's came out undercooked. We believe our plates may have gotten mixed up and I ended up taking her steak, not the most appropriate or ideal situation but I didn't minds the shrimp was delicious and the steak was seasoned well (8/10). Our server was very attentive about the matter and we appreciated him switch out my friends steak. For dessert it was a cheesecake with fresh berries, it was ok I felt the crust of the cheesecake could have been better and kept at a colder temperature, the fresh berries and raspberry sauce was delicious (6/10). Excellent! Would rate a 10 if there was one. We were there last night for our Anniversary. Everyone told us Happy Anniversary (maybe it was the rose petals on the table). Our server "Carlos" COULD NOT HAVE BEEN BETTER! Enjoyed all the food (and drinks!) from Hennessey Sidecar to the cowboy steak my husband ordered. I enjoyed the petite fillets with shrimp on top. The manager Matt, came over and wished us a happy anniversary and I told him I had never tasted anything as good as that casserole. He said it is even better with ice cream on top. We ordered crab cakes and a shrimp cocktail for appetizers... crab cakes were very, very good! Big lumps of crab, very flavorful with not very much bread crumb filling- nice crunch on the outside. The shrimp cocktail was pretty typical of expectation, large shrimp on ice with cocktail sauce... not especially noteworthy The stuffed chicken breast was spectacular, the seasoning was the best I've tasted... not your average stuffed chicken breast! A must try for chicken lovers The steaks were cooked perfectly to order, filet mignon came medium rare and very tender, the strip was cooked to perfection at medium and had a beautiful char... they didn't have a standout seasoning profile.. you tasted steak! The baked potatoes are enormous and served with a display of toppings if requested... enough for a meal in itself! Some at our table ordered the Ruth's Classic prix fixe menu which came with sides and seafood... The lobster tail was a nice size, but came a little over cooked. It was served with real drawn butter. Our shrimp was cooked a little too much as well and wasn't seasoned in a stand out way... there were 3 shrimp atop the filets. We ordered French onion soup which was tasty, came with a generous amount of cheese broiled on top and was enjoyed. The Caesar salads were very large (definitely enough to share) and were as expected, there was a generous amount of shaved parmesan cheese on top which was notable and delicious! We also ordered garlic mashed potatoes which were good, but not wow- fantastic. The lobster mac and cheese was a dish to share with the table. It had nice cavatappi pasta, that was cooked al dente. The cheese sauce was flavorful but very runny and sat on the bottom, it had to be restirred each time a serving was wanted. It was not baked mac and cheese. The lobster was placed on top of the pasta and cheese, there were some bread crumbs... it was ok, but for the prices here, it should be fantastic, so I don't recommend it... The desserts we ordered were Creme Brulee, which was the best a table-mate says they've had, a very rich chocolate flourless cake served with vanilla bean ice cream that was decadent and cheesecake with fresh berries that was creamy and light... fresh whipped cream was served upon request and generously provided... 1-Star Review: Deeply Disappointed by the Service at Ruth's Chris (1700 N Westshore) My party and I had an extremely disappointing experience at the Ruth's Chris Steak House located at 1700 N Westshore last night. What was meant to be a special evening turned into a frustrating and uncomfortable ordeal marked by poor communication, long waits, and an overall lack of care or professionalism. Our original reservation was for 6:15 PM, but the restaurant called and pushed our time back by two hours at the last minute. I accepted the change because it was short notice and finding another reservation would have been difficult. We arrived at 8:10 PM and were thankfully seated right away. Unfortunately, that's where the positives end. After being seated, the host assured us that someone would be with us shortly, but "shortly" turned into a full hour. We were talking among ourselves and didn't initially realize how much time had passed. Once we did, one member of our group tried to get the attention of a staff member, but no one acknowledged us. Seventeen more minutes went by before a server finally approached our table. What shocked us most was the complete lack of apology or explanation. The server simply proceeded to take our order as if nothing was wrong. After that, we waited another hour for our food to arrive. At this point, we had been in the restaurant over two hours with nothing but water. To make matters worse, the restaurant closed while we were still inside. While I appreciate that we weren't rushed out, no one communicated anything to us. There was an unspoken sense that we were being ignored or overlooked altogether. As a group of four young women, it genuinely felt like we were being judged or dismissed from the moment we sat down. Overall, this was an incredibly disheartening experience. For a restaurant with Ruth's Chris's reputation, and price point, the lack of service, communication, and basic hospitality was unacceptable. Ruth Chris Tampa you were such a disappointment. I've had good experiences out of town but the Tampa location was just not good. The service was terrible. We were offered dessert before we ordered our dinner. The steak was good but the rest of the sides were cold. Our table was a mess because none of the plates or cocktail glasses were cleared. We even had to request steak knives to cut our food. There are so many great steakhouse options in Tampa please do not waste your money here. read more

I have been to Ruth's Chris twice. The first time was 13+ years ago, for lunch. I had a Caesar salad with chicken and I remember thinking that it was the best Caesar salad I'd ever had. Just recently came back to meet someone for drinks. I had (2) dirty martini and the petite fillet. Both were excellent. The steak was one the best steaks I've ever had. Dimitri at the bar is very attentive and makes an excellent martini. The bar area is very warm and comfortable. It definitely won't take me another 13+ years to get back in here. Never have been we went for Mothers Day. I did a little yelp investigating to see how this place was. Honestly with reviews it seemed like a hit or miss place which seemed surprising for a fancy steak house. Thankfully it was a hit for us. I'm talking better than Bern's or Ocean Prime in terms of food. We got the steak, stuffed chicken, sweet potato casserole, lobster Mac n cheese and the cream spinach. Everything was AMAZING but the cream spinach you can skip that one. The service was good a little slow in the beginning but I figure with it being Mother's Day it would be. The ambiance definatley could use a refresh it looked nice but you could tell it was old the wallpaper was peeling and it just felt a little outdated. Ruth Chris is one of my top three steakhouses IMO. It's been a minute since I've gone but let me tell you it did not disappoint! We started with their sizzling crab cakes. Absolute perfection. For my entree, i got the filet which was outstanding. Cooked exactly how I wanted it... medium. The sides: 1. Creamed spinach is my absolute favorite. Love it! 2. Not my favorite steak house. We arrived a wee bit early, dressed nicely (our server even commented on it). We were escorted to a brightly lit room off the bar, presumably where the misfits are supposed to be segregated from the hoi polloi. For example, a couple in jeans with a screaming infant and a family of five in shorts after a soccer game were in our room. I did see other parts of the restaurant had a totally different vibe, but I wasn't given that experience so here we are. For a starter we had the Barbeque shrimp and it was very good. For entree we shared the ribeye, mushrooms and creamed spinach. The ribeye was good, nothing to write home about. The mushrooms were very good and the spinach was not pleasant at all. I had heard the cheesecake was very tasty, but I hated it. It was all crust, and the filling was bland. So overall, the food rates a 'fine'. Ambiance was bad. I went here for a work dinner, and I feel like it was the perfect place for the occasion. We were able to make a reservation easily for 4 people. The ambiance was nice and upscale, but also quiet enough to have conversations without having to strain your voice. I really liked how they had a bundle option where you could get several courses all together. I feel like that is sometimes not a given at steakhouses. I got some white wine and the filet with shrimp on top. It was delicious. I've heard they have a good happy hour as well, but we were not able to check it out. Maybe next time! Even the bread was soft and warm with a buttery crust. When it came time for dessert, the cheesecake was just right. It had a thick texture and a smooth flavor that wasn't too sweet or too heavy. The crust was buttery and firm, not dry or crumbly. It was a great way to end the meal. We were seated near the bar, which gave us a nice view of the room and the staff working. Went to Ruth Chris for 80 th Birthday. Overall the service and food was good. Everything except for a few items is a-la-carte. It is relatively expensive. My complaint is that they charged $78 for 3 9 oz. Benton Lane pinot wine pours. The menus states they are $17 each. Which is $51. Looks like a $27 over charge on our bill. Hard to see when you are there at close out. So be careful on the wine bill. In some cases it may be better to charge by the bottle. Seems like we could have gotten a full bottle for the $79 charge. We waited over 10 minutes before our server even came to greet us and take our drink order. When we asked about the crab cakes, we were told they were mostly made of lump crab meat -- this was completely wrong. Our steaks came out burned on the sides yet undercooked inside. When we sent them back, we completely lost our appetite and just wanted to leave. What made things worse was that no manager ever came by to acknowledge the situation or apologize.
