Shout out to Roza for taking care of our group of seven hungry men. She seated us quickly and took care of our orders in a timely manner. I started with the Charmthai house salad. It was pretty large and full of fresh greens, cucumbers, and carrots. The peanut dressing was good, but could have used a little more salt and savory for my liking. My entrée was Red Curry Delight with chicken with a side of white rice. The curry was very flavorful with just the right amount of spice. It had a nice umami taste from the fish sauce. Definitely one of the more affordable finds in Georgetown.

I came here on a very cold night looking for something close to my hotel. I was not disappointed. It was very nice with a quiet ambience and really wonderful service. The service was very attentive. The menu was large and I had lots of options as I am vegan. I enjoyed my food and my time at Charm Thai and I will definitely be back again.

Decided to skip the original restaurant choice upon a friend's recommendation of Charm Thai. We decided to order 3 dishes I often get at Thai restaurants and Charm Thai did not disappoint. I managed to at least capture two of the 3 dishes. A) Massamam Curry with Chicken B) Drunken Noodle with Beef C) Basil Fried Rice with Shrimp (no picture)

Got doordash. Super tasty. Eggplant with mixed veggies had a great spice level flavor. Tofu drunken noodles was sautéed well and delicious.

Still tasty! The Pad Thai lunch special is an affordable indulgence. Drunken noodles are so good. I could eat Thai food every day. MealPal and Charm Thai help make that dream (almost) reality!

I went on a Friday afternoon about 1 PM to have lunch with a friend. I was surprised at how empty the restaurant was for that time of day and day of the week. Not necessarily a good sign. Parking was relatively easy to find also, which was great. Given that there was only one other patron in the restaurant we received prompt service. I ordered the pads for you which is what I get regularly. When I go to TY Thai restaurants. I asked for extra broccoli. The portion size was OK, I was surprised that it was not the Asian broccoli I typically get with this dish. The flavor was decent, but the noodles were slightly overdone. It was a decent meal, but I don't know that I would recommend the place or return again.

We looked at the reviews before coming here and notice such a mix. So we decided to just go for it and make our own judgement since we were in the area and walked by it a lot. I really wanted to like it, and maybe they were having an off day? But here's my review: 1) drinks: ordered 2 pineapple juice (I like juice ok lol)...let's just say it tasted really funky. Like it was spoiled and they added club soda to it. So then it tasted like Kombucha. I gave it a 0 stars. 2) fried eggs rolls- it was crispy. But the fillings were soggy and had no flavor. Gave it a 2 star. 3) pad Thai- it was ok. The tofu tasted a bit off and too spongy. The flavor was mediocre but not bad at the same time. 3 stars 4) venue- there were a lot of cob webs. I really don't like spiders but there were just too many webs. 2 stars 5) staff- there was only 1 waiter who was nice and he had to be the bartender as well. So I give his service a 4 stars. So if I average that out, it's basically a 2 star place from my experience. I hope things improve and for them to do well. But like I said, maybe it's an off day. Who knows.

"Guava boba" after it was finished and just had melted ice in it.

I only ordered boba tea. It didn't taste like the flavor I ordered. It just tasted like any unsweetened tea. I asked for "no ice" but the waitress seemed like she wasn't able to do that and said "little ice" which I said ok to. When I got the drink it was a small cup half full of ice. It was almost $10. The atmosphere seemed calm but I didn't like that at all.

    Table ambiance

Ambiance was dim and quiet. The server was immediately attentive and very nice. Great menu choices. I think the sauce and spring rolls were not gluten free after a few hours my stomach hurt but it tasted soooo good. Highly recommend.

Tucked into the heart of Dupont Circle with its unmistakable bright blue awning, the restaurant is intimate, moody, and always buzzing. Inside, you'll find dim lighting, a handful of cozy wooden bar booths, seats along the bar, and a few outdoor tables. It's not a huge space, which only adds to its charm and makes every reservation feel like a win. The atmosphere is perfect for sharing dishes and lingering over dinner with friends. The food was incredible...I genuinely loved every single bite. Just be prepared: the Sichuan spice is no joke! If you aren't expecting it, it'll definitely sneak up on you (in the best way). My must-orders? The chili wontons, Dan Dan noodles, and beef noodles. Every dish was packed with bold flavor and left me wanting to come back for more. If you've been trying to score a reservation, keep at it. Astoria is one of those places that's absolutely deserving of its reputation, and I'll be thinking about those noodles until my next visit.

Inside had small tables and a kinda casual cocktail bar vibe Beef Noodles - the highlight and actually very good! The noodles are long and handmade and chewy. They hold onto the sauce very well! The sauce has a slight kick and is very savory. The beef is soft and also flavorful! I feel the price for the portion is kinda expensive though 8/10 Chili wontons - skin is silky and soft, sauce is savory with a small kick as well! Even though the sauces look similar to beef noodle they taste very different. The fillings had good flavor and overall were good but were a bit tougher and dryer than I would prefer. 6/10 Crab fried rice - crab is slightly overcooked but naturally sweet. It has a light curry taste throughout and was pretty good but didn't really stand out 5.5/10 Mapo tofu - slight kick and nice savory taste in the sauce! However I think they cut the tofu pieces way too large or the tofu they chose had way too much tofu flavor that overpowers the sauce. I'd prefer a very light silky tofu but this was a soft tofu. 6/10 Vpod - at first it just tasted like orange juice but then the other flavors peek through on the after taste and when I mixed it more. Even though it was good, it still felt very basic 5/10 Philadelphia Scotsman - it's pretty ginger forward. Technically the level of ginger spice is fine but strong but then the rest of the drink got completely overpowered and so this just wasn't that great 2.5/10

The toro tacos were a standout -- rich, buttery toro paired with a crisp shell, the kind of bite that balances luxury with a little bit of fun. We rounded things out with several maki rolls, all fresh and well put together, each one distinct enough that ordering a few felt worth it rather than repetitive. Beyond the food, the service made the night -- attentive without being intrusive, which is exactly what you want for a birthday dinner. The ambience matched too: romantic, trendy, dim lighting that made it feel like an occasion without trying too hard. Great pick for a celebration -- between the toro tacos, the maki, and the overall vibe, Shoto delivered on every front.

This is not a space to grab food if you're trying to have a conversation. We often found ourselves yelling across the table and when selecting items to share we crammed ourselves on one side of the booth squishing other patrons. Otherwise this would've been a 5 star review. Our waiter was amazing, albeit a bit distracted at times because of his service area, and helped advise us on the items we were interested in. We had: Koika No Karaage - their version of calamari - 10/10 - lightly fried with the most amazing texture and paired with a yuzu mayo. For the price I wish the serving size was larger but that's my only gripe. Kani - 10/10 - snow crab with spicy mayo - 2 came with the order and they were amazing. The Japanese crest was the perfect contrast to softness of the snow crab. It was also seasoned well. Hotate Toryufu - 10/10 - the scallops melted in your mouth. Amazing. No notes. California Maki - 6/10 - my least favorite thing here. It wasn't awful but it didn't compare to the other things we had. Drinks - I WISH I could remember the name of the drink I had. Hands down one of the best drinks I've ever had and was paired with sparkling sake. Bathe me in sparkling sake, put a bottle in my casket, I want it with me forever. I would come back for sure but would opt to sit at the bar. It would definitely be easier to speak to someone sitting next to you than across from you. For the price you will not get full here but if you want to share some small bites of new food this is absolutely your spot.

The Sparkling Rosé was phenomenal. The Blck Pnk was on the bitter side, which may be perfect if that's your preference, and I appreciated how thoughtfully crafted it was. The beer was ice cold and crisp. To start, we ordered the mandu and two orders of the chikin. For our mains, we had the pork rib & kimchi fried rice and the dolsot bibimbap. Everything was delicious. My only critique is that some of the dishes could have benefited from just a touch more salt to really make the flavors pop. The restaurant itself is small, quaint, and feels very homey. I loved the family-style setup and how easy it was to share dishes and move things around the table so everyone could try a little of everything. Overall, I would definitely recommend Anju to others and would happily return with a group of friends. Kanpai is in a prime place along Rockville Pike, but depending on when you go you may find easy parking. (If you're not bothered about where to park, ignore what I just said.) Out front there's something that looks like a tuk-tuk or rickshaw. Tbh, don't know if it's theirs or the business next door. The restaurant itself is clean and elegant. Also, not as loud as some Korean BBQs (thinking of KPOT off of Randolph Rd), which is important if you don't like being overwhelmed by everyone else's noise. That is one big '+' in Kanpai's favor. The waiter was cool and very helpful. Because of him I now know what the thin meat slices are meant for (which is for the soup), before then I had no clue. The food itself is good. Like, why wouldn't it be? I actually prefer the shabu-shabu (soup), makes me wish I knew how to do that myself so I wouldn't have to go out as much. Yes, the grill meats were great, as was the kimchi. These places are not cheap, but it was enjoyable while I was there. If you're not in a rush you can go a few doors down afterward to an import store selling everything from K-chips to puzzle-kits. So I would say...take your time. But don't warm your seats for more than 90 minutes, as Korean BBQs tend to kick people out (nicely, nicely) if one overstays. P.S. I'm sure they have some great drinks there, but even if I wanted to I couldn't loiter. That's what Bethesda is for. (Or at least how it used to be.)
