    Focus bowl
    Kelly S.

I got the focus bowl for the protein. Got pork belly and chicken teriyaki. The pork was delicious - crunchy on the outside and moist on the inside. Didn't care much for the teriyaki chicken. Veggies were fine and it was filling. Would return to try other mixes. The packaging is pretty nice!

All the ingredients have impressed me. The chicken broth is FABULOUS! I wasn't expecting such pizazz from the broth. The carrots with fennel are also something in g special. I am traveling, just in the area for work. I'm wondering if I can get breakfast in the morning here before heading out! Very much worth checking out folks! I was a bit overwhelmed when I walked in. I'm not very decisive. The guy starting my bowl was very friendly and helpful. I only visited the downstairs area which is where you get take out or build your own bowl. It's a popular spot but the line moves quickly, although not Soup Nazi quickly haha. The ambiance was non rushed.

This is a build your own bowl style place with a Vietnamese twist. I liked the concept but it could have been executed better. The portion size could have been bigger and the veggies a little less greasy. I paid extra for the crispy pork and while I liked the crispy skin, the actual pork meat was dry. I definitely prefer the coconut shrimp as a protein. They were big, succulent, and thankfully not fried. The coconut flavor was good and not too overwhelming. I wish they had more vegetarian and vegan proteins. The only plant-based option was a vegan ball that was fried. I would have prefer a tofu option or guac/avocado or tempeh or edamame. I personally liked the Citrus Sesame and Thai basil sauce of the 4 sauces I tried. They had a great Uber Eats deal. Bowls are a little expensive regular price though given the smaller portion size. They have a nice seating and hangout area upstairs. Note the entrance on Google Maps is not accurate. They share a location and entrance with Roll Play - Rosslyn and I recommend putting that into Google Maps instead if you are trying to come here.

This is your Chipotle-style build-your-own-bowl place, but with healthier options and in Southeast Asian flavors. The braised beef I got for protein was out of this world. I'd come back just for that. I also got the crispy pork belly. My advice for that is not to go when they are about to close. It was no longer crispy. It must taste great when it's fresh out of the oven. If you don't want to build your own, they also have pre-selected bowls. The good jars for dessert are also healthy jars with collagen. I had to try it once, but I might not again because they were $9.50 a jar! The prices definitely will tell you that you're in Arlington if finding parking hasn't already. There's equally good Roll Play on the second floor of the same building. The staff was friendly and helpful. There aren't many places to sit on the first floor, but a cute little corner. However, the whole second floor has plenty of seats and nice views. I love the food, the interior design, and the views. I don't love the location and parking. Yet, I'd drive to Arlington for another bowl of AN any day.

So sad that Roll Play removed their bubble tea menu, but this isn't a bad replacement! Located next to Nando's Peri Peri, I ordered a large "Create Your Own Bowl" which allows for you to choose 3 proteins, 4 bases, unlimited toppings and dressing, and homemade broth. You start with selecting your base, then your protein (pork meatballs were yummy), followed up with toppings, dressings, and crunchy toppings. Lastly, you get to choose your broth (chicken bone broth was good) and check out. I also ordered the Matcha Sago Latte which comes pre bottled. Everything tasted good and fresh. Service was great too. The staff communicated early on that there would be a wait for the pork meatballs if I was willing to wait, and they provided options on how I wanted it (wait by the register or have it brought up to the second floor while I was eating). I think the time estimate might have been a bit off, but I got it and it was hot and tasty. Since this is a concept of Happy Endings Hospitality like Roll Play, it shares the same decor and seating as Roll Play which is located above. It's a good addition to the Rosslyn neighborhood and I wouldn't mind coming back again!

Just a bad meal, not worth $20.

I'm still trying to figure out how this managed to cost over $20. What showed up looked less like a meal and more like a collection of ingredients that had clearly been sitting around waiting for closing time. The noodles were clumped together, the vegetables were limp and tired, and the chicken... I don't even know how to describe the texture other than "concerning." Not fresh, not appetizing, and definitely not something you feel great about eating. To be fair, the chicken broth was actually pretty good -- warm, flavorful, and easily the best part of the experience. Unfortunately, it was also the only part that didn't make me question my life choices. Everything else? It had that unmistakable "this has been sitting out way too long" vibe. I took a few bites and started wondering less about flavor and more about consequences. Most of it ended up in the trash, which honestly felt like the safest move. Maybe I came too late in the day, maybe I ordered wrong -- but at this price point, that shouldn't matter. Freshness shouldn't be a gamble. Safe to say... not rolling the dice here again.

sooooo yummy wow So happy there's another variation of the "build your own bowl" restaurant. They had plenty of fresh, delicious options. Employees were super helpful as it was my first time and I got their advice for what to get at a lot of steps lol Restaurant is kept super clean! In a great location

Great place for delicious, healthy Southeast Asian rice and/or salad bowls! Think sweetgreen or Cava, but make it Vietnamese. It's in the same space as Roll Play, and currently only paid street parking. The upstairs has more seating and is very spacious. The bowls are decent portion, but can be a little pricier with premium toppings and add-ons. Some of my favorite ingredients are Brown/Red Rice, Roasted Sweet Potatoes, Spicy Glazed Eggplant, Coconut Shrimp, Crispy Pork Belly, and Jammy Egg. You can't go wrong with any toppings honestly. ASK FOR DRESSING ON THE SIDE. I do it every time so it doesn't get too soggy or feel like the bowl is drowning. Most of the dressings are pretty tangy, but my favorites are the Spicy Passion Fruit and Scallion Lemongrass. My favorite part of it all is that you get a complimentary broth on the side!!!!! Both Chicken Bone Broth and Vegetarian Broth are soooo good. They perfect complement the bowls, and are good for you! The staff is super friendly and helpful. Ask all your questions; they'll be very patient with you!

I LOVE this place. I did: Build your own bowl. Base: salads, carrots, eggplant. Protein: Meatball, Chicken, Crispy Pork Toppings: EVERYTHING Dressing: spicy tamarind If you get a large bowl, the portions are enormous. $16-20 depending on choices. Service was friendly and helpful. Ambiance is modern and pleasant.

Looks like Happy Eatery rebranded to have Roll Play on the second floor and AN, which is a new build-your-own SE Asian bowl fast-casual, on the first floor. My friend and I stopped by a few weeks ago, and the employees getting our orders had great recommendations. They also loaded up our bowl with so many toppings! REG: CREATE YOUR BOWL - 14 This comes with 2 proteins, 3 bases, unlimited toppings and 2 dressings along with homemade broth. I decided to get the following: * Base: bok choy/napa cabbage, brown/red rice and roasted carrots * Protein: AN chicken and coconut shrimp * Toppings: Pickled medley, snap peas, broccolini slaw, and crispy garlic shallot * Dressings (which I got on the side): Citrus sesame * Broth: Chicken bone broth As a whole, the bowl I made was delicious, and the flavors complemented each other well. I kept the dressings on the side (which was good) because it was already so flavorful without it. I really liked the coconut shrimp because it comes with this creamy and savory sauce (that my server really hyped up) that was the perfect sauce with the rice. There were plenty of vegetables and protein, all tasted healthy yet delicious at the same time. For the price, I'd say it's pretty worth it to get a balanced meal. I felt incredibly full after eating the bowl, and in the future, I'll get a large bowl (+1 protein and +1 base) so I can split it into two meals. The chicken bone broth was rich and tasted like what a chicken pho broth would be like. I personally found it hearty and enjoyable, but my friend didn't like hers as much as I did. After eating, the server asked us for feedback, which we happily provided. I would encourage asking for the dressings on the side and only adding it in if you feel like you need more flavor or spice in your bowl. Overall, food was tasty and healthy. My friend liked it so much she went back a couple days later. I will definitely be back!

Stopped by for lunch and ordered a regular bowl with onion rice as the base -- super flavorful and satisfying! Tried both chicken and tamarind chicken, and they were cooked really well and packed with flavor. Great selection of toppings to choose from, and the vegetable broth turned out to be a standout -- exceeded expectations!

Glad to see more asian bowls starting to pop up! Their onion rice is really good. I highly recommend you add that to your bowl. I love their topping options and thoroughly enjoyed the meal! It also comes with soup which is very flavorful. Overall, a great bowl for lunch if you're in a hurry and need to grab something. They share the same space as Roll Play (which I also love!) but AN occupies the first floor now!

I was so excited to try out this place. A few years back I thought to myself, a Vietnamese Chipotle-style would be so cool. Today I get the chance to try it out for lunch. So this place is part of the roll play restaurant groups if I'm not wrong. I got a customised protein bowl. I was a little disappointed with the flavor. I was hoping for a little bit more bold flavor, more of that umami taste to the proteins, but it was just slightly slacking. Vegetables and other parts taste pretty fresh though. I will probably want to try out other options here in the future.

The drink and food I'd say is pretty standard. The Lomo Saltado dish, however, I'd say that it's just a bit too salty, and the beef steak is slightly overdone, but only slightly. So I'd still give it a 4/5. Overall, I thought it's a beautiful space and nice dining experience and I'd still recommend it to others, just not on the top of my list.

I tried the Moriawase after and told my server I wanted to add caviar if it was possible and since I didn't get any, I assume it is only an option for the nigiri/sashimi. Silly but no problem. I was still sooooo hungry I ordered a Surf&turf roll and it was less than appetizing. It had no flavor which was terribly unfortunate.
