    Happy hour small plates
    Ashley M.

I recommend happy hour at the bar instead of the moving restaurant. We intended to eat at the main restaurant but the slow movement made us feel unsteady and nauseous. Plus, there isn't happy hour at the main dining, it's only at the bar. However, once moving to the bar, we had a great time! Happy hour drinks and food were well priced and very tasty! Service was speedy and kind. No complaints at the bar!

Dinner At the top of the tower of americas. You take a short ride to the top to the restaurant. Be sure to call ahead for reservations. The tables you sit at spins around so you get the full 360 view of San Antonio. The view is breathtaking. The food was below average and very pricey. I highly recommend eating at a nice restaurant or even a chain before coming as the dinner was not it. I would rather come for drinks and or desserts. The food had no seasoning

While visit San Antonio this was for sure a mus, we were doing some other things and almost missed our reservation. I called them to see if we could hold a little longer and was told they have a 15 min Grace period, after that we would for sure lose our table. We could eat at the bar but it is a part of the restaurant that does not spin. This is basically the only reason we were coming here, to experience the restaurant rotating feature. Spoiled alert, I was a bit angry cause we made it! Got our table and I noticed that there were empty tables that did not get guests for the entire time we were there. So I was angry that they rushed us with our other engagement knowing they would not have issues accommodating for one table. Tho I know why they prob do that cause accommodating for one may imply for many and this is a very tourist heavy town. But they had a few empty tables the whole time so that was a bit disappointing. We came in and have a Wait staff changed 3 times, one waitress said she was sick and leaving so we got another waiter and then he also left us to a third one. We not sure why cause the first one was there the entire time we were there. Not a big deal but very weird. We ordered appetizers and drinks and those took forever cause of the change of wait staff we had to wait a long time for the drinks. I was not impressed to be honest. Fleur de liz- it came with an very simple presentation, looked like pineapple juice and did not taste like it had any alcohol in it. I didn't even drink more than half of it. One of our friends liked his drink and asked for another one but we never got that second one. He was not charged for it so that's a positive. We got for appetizers: Half dozens oysters- nothing to write home about, it was ok, already loosen from shell and ok. HUMMUS AND PITA- also another pretty average appetizer. The little pita looked like those ones u get from the market, the mini pita breads. For the meal: Shellfish linguini: that was my meal and I must say it was very dry. I appreciated that it came with a half lobster tail, the tiniest lobster tail. But it was nice to see. However the pasta was so dry. The sauce was all in the bottom so I feel like they put the cooked basta on top of the sauce and the guest is supposed to mix it in. I was not here for that. So very dry. For dessert: Creme brûlée tasting: the mini trio was well presented, the original and the mint flavored ones was pretty good but the strawberry one has a very displeasing after taste that came later after the strawberry note was gone. I could not have more than two spoons of it and honestly tasted pretty bad. The waitress noticed and asked if I wanted a replacement but I refused as I was already very done eating and waiting on our orders. If I accepted that replacement I was not sure how long would that take so it was fine to leave it alone. All the meals took a very long time to arrive, we were no longer hungry when the main dishes arrived and we were not able to enjoy the meal. The timing of all dishes was very bad. Took too long. Lastly, the ambiance and the experience is what people come here for, I can definitely tell that time is catching up to the room. The spinning floor has very noticeable nuances that is stalls in certain parts of the rotation, there are areas of the restaurant that the temperature regulation is way out of wack. We would have areas that were comfortable and then areas that were so cold we had to put our coats on. It was pretty distracting from the entire experience. For a place that charges fine dining prices this was definitely not a fine dining experience.

The food is good, however the service takes soooo long! I recommend ordering an appetizer as soon as the service first comes to your table and might as well order food too. Also, the server does not inform you that the molten lava cake dessert takes 30 minutes until you get to dessert. so there's another long turnover time. I don't know if they are understaffed but it has always been like this! Also it would be nice if Christmas music was played instead of loud instrumental music

I really don't understand the average and subpar comments here on Yelp. Is it people expecting filet mignon and pay for hamburger? I don't know. All I know is we had a terrific time with truly delicious food and expertly crafted cocktails! This was a treat, and we enjoyed every second of it! We opened with appetizers of a shrimp cocktail and their hummus. Our beverages of a Manhattan and chocolate & bourbon cocktail were absolutely amazing! The shrimp cocktail was visually stimulating with the fog coming off from the dry ice. The hummus was surprisingly delicious! My wife raved about her filet and I thought my grouper was scrumptious! Our service was absolutely top notch! I rate this visit on par or maybe a half a step above The Capital Grille. Keep up the great work! Hopefully we'll be back sometime.

We only went here for the view and the drinks. I would go back for the drinks. A little slow on the service but the crews were friendly.

We are members of Landry's Select Club. This is a very nice restaurant that we like for special occasions or just a "staycation"type visit. The chefs are always creative and the meals are presented well. We had a steak filet mignon with garlic mashed and a sea bass fish option. I recommend going right before sunset so you can see it during day and when it gets dark with all the city lights.

Beautiful restaurant with breathtaking views. We arrived one hour before closing for a late night family dinner. I ordered the filet mignon which isn't my go to but I loved it. Now for the real deal- our waiter Jason. He was one of the best waiters I've had in a long time. Sense of humor and completely professional. When in San Antonio a must is the Vhart House and ask for Jason.

Service was top notch, the food was amazing, we had the cheese fondue, the shrimp Mac and cheese and fish and chips. My wife said the clam chowder was excellent

The best views in the city. We ordered salad, fish, king crab and the crème brûlée flight.

This place was super fun experience! All the food we ordered was really good. My favorite dish was the Shrimp and Crab dip. I would get that every single time. FYI happy hour is only at the bar. Website was a little confusing about that but no biggie. The server Dave was very helpful and kind! We met both the AM Emily and the GM, they were very kind and wanted to make sure we had a memorable experience. We came in for my sisters birthday and they gave her a dessert with a candle and the server even gave her a card from him That was one of the sweetest things i've seen a restaurant do for birthdays. I love how it revolves so we can see all around the city during our dinning experience. The pictures from this viewpoint are beautiful. they also have spots that tell you whether you are looking south/north/east, etc The one downside was that they do not validate parking. That threw me off because MANY restaurants i've been to usually validate.

They greeted at the bottom of the restaurant and at the restaurant. They were very friendly as we were literally the first ones there. So they were having their meeting before breaking off and doing their job. Ambiance is nice. The view is good as it rotates around. We went full circle while we were there. Food was good but the server could have done better. He spilt drinks as he was filling up our cups , he didn't refill till our cups were empty and towards the end. Which he did apologize. He didn't take his time putting the plate down and spilt one of the dipping sauce on the table. I had told him my son wanted his burger plain and dry. No cheese and he gave him cheese. Other than that we were literally the first ones there and it was great.

Chart House at the Top of the Americas offers great views of San Antonio's skyline, which immediately sets an impressive tone for the evening. The spacious, rotating dining area gives diners a 360-degree view of the city, with helpful signage indicating directions like north, south, east, and west--a unique and appreciated touch for orientation. We started with a selection of appetizers: calamari, coconut shrimp, crabcake, and hummus. Each dish brought its own fresh, delightful flavors, though I was a bit disappointed when they couldn't make a French martini. The main course didn't disappoint--the 7 oz. filet was cooked perfectly tender and had rich flavor. However, some elements could have used improvement; the mashed potatoes, though flavorful, arrived lukewarm, and the mushrooms lacked seasoning. For dessert, the hot chocolate lava cake was promising but didn't quite meet the high expectations set by similar dishes at other top steakhouse locations like Morton's. While it had the molten chocolate center, there was a subtle aftertaste that didn't sit quite right with me. One area for improvement would be better guidance on the pathway to the restaurant, especially given the size of the Tower of the Americas complex. Our server, though new and still learning the ropes, brought enthusiasm and did his best to enhance our experience. Also, the dining area was super cold in some spots and warm in others. Having visited several Chart House locations, I'd say this one was okay, but the overall experience could be elevated to match the scenic setting. Despite the small misses, I was grateful for a memorable meal and appreciated the lively conversation with my company. The restaurant remains a unique choice for anyone wanting a spectacular perspective of San Antonio and a relaxed evening with a view.

We walked in without a reservation, and I really appreciate that they were able to accommodate us with outdoor seating. The patio had a fun, upbeat atmosphere and was a great place to spend the evening. The drinks were generally very well made, once they were prepared correctly. The food, however, was just okay. I had the cheeseburger with an egg, and while it was decent, it wasn't particularly memorable. The standout was definitely the fries, especially paired with the spicy ketchup. Unfortunately, the biggest issue was the service. Since we were seated outside, it felt like our table was forgotten. We sat for at least 15 minutes without proper plates, napkins, or silverware and had to ask multiple times before everyone was taken care of. We never had enough water glasses for the entire table, drink service was slow throughout the meal, and at one point I walked to the bar myself because my Old Fashioned had been made with agave and was far too sweet. I also had to track down our server just to get the check. Overall, I appreciate that they accommodated a large walk-in party, and the atmosphere and drinks were enjoyable. However, the combination of mediocre food and inattentive service left us disappointed. I don't think I'd return, as it felt like our table was simply forgotten once we were seated outside.

During happy hour there are select cocktail and bites you can enjoy for $7 each. My drink of choice for the evening was the perfectly balanced Berry Smash . I was torn on bites but ended up going with the Happy Hour sliders and the pork belly appetizer from the regular menu. Both were soooo good...particularly the Pork Belly which was a perfect blend of sweet, spicy, and savory. This visit redeemed Haywire in my eyes and I'm looking forward to returning during regular hours to explore more of the menu during dinner service.

Drinks were AMAZING! Bartender Rob made the best Negroni I've ever had. I asked him to use whatever gin he thought best--result was an artistic smooooooth full-bodied drink. Told him when I was done I'd lick the glass if it wasn't considered so uncouth for a 'mature' lady like myself to do so Hubby's Buffalo Trace bourbon old fashioned was also outstanding. Rob was the bartender last night who did such a great job, and his work was even better tonight. We highly recommend The EsquireTavern for excellent cocktails. We love the long wood bar and high copper ceiling upstairs, but love the intimate speakeasy atmosphere downstairs even more. We'll definitely be back every time we're in San Antonio! First review, Friday night: Drinks were great (Manhattan and Bourbon Old Fashioned). REAL drinks, no complaints at all about those. And the bartenders were very friendly and helpful. Those aspects of the Esquire get 5+ stars from us. But the appetizers were not good, close to inedible. It was about 8:30pm or so, so maybe they were getting ready to close out the kitchen but the chalupitas with chicken tasted like rubber, and no flavor at all. The seafood platter had something in it that was breading with shell inside, but no meat of any kind. We couldn't figure out what it was supposed to be. The shrimp was good and the fish was good but those other things... We'll always love the drinks, the long wooden bar, and the ambiance at the Esquire Tavern, but we'll eat somewhere else and come here for before or after dinner drinks. The Riverwalk was to packed with tourists. I sat at the bar as i wanted to watch March Madness. The guests I was seated next to were nice enough to let me change the channel to see basketball game I wanted to see so that was a plus. The music playing was great upbeat classic rock. The entrance to the restaurant is one floor up from the street on Commerce. Maddy was very pleasant and provided service with a smile. She was very attentive to all customers. I ordered the garlic shiitake noodles and crispy Brussels sprouts along with a tall double captain and Coke Zero. Everything was great. Before a concert I wanted something that wouldn't mess with my sensitive stomach. I enjoyed my experience so much that I returned the following day and ordered the exact same thing. Enjoyed it just as much the second time around.

Bar Loretta was such a fantastic find. We were staying at the Marriott Rivercenter on the River…read moreWalk and wanted to get away from the super touristy River Walk scene. Earlier in the day I took a walk through the King William neighborhood and stumbled on this beautiful old house with an inviting vibe. We were so glad we came back for dinner. We were a group of five with a reservation and from start to finish the experience was excellent. Our server, Raymond, was personable, friendly, and genuinely great at his job. He gave thoughtful recommendations and made the evening feel relaxed and welcoming. We started by sharing several dishes, all of which were spot on: Pears and Greens salad with lardons, frisée, arugula, radicchio, endive, Danish blue, and bacon vin - $16. Fresh, balanced, and perfect for sharing. Crispy Brussels Sprouts with maple, herbs, pecans, and cotija - $10. Crispy, flavorful, and addictive. Mac and Cheese - $12. Rich, comforting, and well executed. For mains, Raymond steered us in all the right directions: Mustard Glazed Faroe Island Salmon with warm fingerling potatoes, parsnips, mushrooms, frisée, and herb oil - $30. Beautifully cooked and flavorful. Tomatillo Shrimp with grilled Gulf shrimp, white cheddar grit cake, and tomatillo butter - $28. Bold and delicious. Loretta Burger with crispy prosciutto, manchego, arugula, tomato, grilled red onion, and smash sauce on a brioche bun. Choice of fries or tots - $18 (some had tots, and one had fries - tasty). Absolutely nailed it. Queso Fundido Burger with fried chorizo-queso blanco, charred poblano, and cactus salsa verde. Choice of fries or tots - $20. Indulgent in the best way. My dining companions enjoyed a variety of wonderfully prepared cocktails while I stuck with a Topo Chico. I still felt right at home. Overall, Bar Loretta felt like a world away from the tourist-heavy spots along the River Walk. Dining out has gotten so expensive lately and too often the food or service does not justify the price. Bar Loretta delivered on both. Great food, great service, great value. Highly recommend. We would absolutely come back. 5 stars
