The service was slow, which is my only complaint here. I came in on a Saturday night with a reservation and was seated immediately, but our food took around 45 minutes to arrive. I was pretty hangry by the time we got our food, but man was it tasty! Both the curry and noodles were really great, and portion sizes were huge. After seeing some good reviews of this place and having high expectations I left really disappointed. We were sat upstairs which it seems like you are forgotten about when you are seated upstairs. It took about 30 minutes from when we got seated to just to get a coke. The full vegan menu did have a lot of great options which I was happy to see. We ordered a starter and our main dishes. After waiting quite a long time then both the starter and our main dishes were brought all together. I ordered my food mild and my partner super spicy. They ended up flopping the spice and mine was really spicy and his had virtually no spice. Also there was barely any food and our bowls were mostly liquid. Overall the flavor on the food was really good especially our starter which was the Thung Tong. I would give the place 0 stars for service though and would say it's overpriced for the amount of food you actually get. read more

I've ordered takeout from here more than any restaurant since COVID hit. With a lot of my pre-COVID favorites, the quality of the food or service has declined. I'm not going to be too hard on those places since things are rough right now, but it does make Chatayee stand out. I come here once every month or so and everything is always delicious. They always have seasonal specials to keep things interesting, like the Yam Som Oe, which is like a papaya salad with pomelo instead of papaya, and a huge variety of vegetarian options. The larb hed is solid, although the shiitake funk can overwhelm the other flavors a bit. I also appreciate that they have solid classics for the less adventurous, because my husband only eats pad thai. The massaman curry and roti is a perfect balance of spicy, creamy, and a bit sweet. The prices are a little higher than your standard round the way Thai place, but you get what you pay for. In terms of bang for your buck, this place is way better than the pricier Kalaya. Another small thing I've appreciated is that all their takeout containers are paper or aluminum based. I know that worrying about the amount of plastic waste you generate from takeout orders is a very privileged problem to have, but it is one I think about. And I like that when I come here, I can throw my containers out with slightly less guilt. read more

The search is over guys! Finally, a hot new authentic Thai restaurant has opened up in the city! It is absolutely gorgeous inside. From the chandeliers, fully stocked bar to the beautiful dining room, this place is absolutely breathtaking. I have now dined here once a week from the day they opened and I still can't get enough of this place. Now onto the important matter, FOOD. I am slowly working up my way to trying everything on the menu but there are a few favorites that I can't seem to get away from. The Tom Kha Kai soup is bomb! And how can you go to a Thai restaurant and not get Pad Thai?! Don't get me wrong tho, absolutely everything I've tried so far has been delicious. The Yam Nuer Salad (Thai beef salad) is bursting with flavor. The massaman lamb curry was delicious. The lamb was so tender and the curry I could just eat everyday! We loved everything we ate! For apps we got their shrimp spring rolls, masaman curry (v) with rotti and tom kha gai soup also with shrimp. The spring were delicious, the shrimp inside were succulent and not the mini ones that you may be accustomed to, the masaman curry on the roti was straight peanut buttery deliciousness. I have no words, you will be licking your fingers, this stuff is so good! Entrees we got pad khe mao (v) which featured cauliflower and fried tofu it was good, nothing out of the ordinary, the vegetables were seasoned well and the noodles were not too oily. We also got the salmon curry, this was something very different, it was a dark coconut curry with eggplant and featured a large filet of salmon which was cooked to perfection, served crispy skin side up . I ordered the Pad Kee Mao Kai and the Massaman and Roti last night through Grubhub. The food was still warm and most importantly it was really good! The Pad Kee Mao Kai came with colorful veggies besides just the noodles and chicken which was nice. The roti was a little oily. The massaman curry had veggies in it too which gave the curry some texture. The lost star is because the prices are a little high and the food was a little salty for me. I also asked for medium spice level on both dishes, but it tasted mild. I've tried a lot of Thai food with medium spice level and Chatayee's just wasn't enough. read more

I would like to say that their pad se eul is good but the service is very poor. We went on a Friday night, it was not quite busy. Our waitress came out with the wrong food order and when we asked to split our check based on our food dishes, she adamantly said that they don't do it there and would only be able to split the cost of food. She was very rude and rolled our eyes at us. She didn't even bother to check the cost of the food when we asked (the check was in her hand). She also did not offer me the spice level on my pad se eul either. She was also taking care of the next table to us however she was not rude to those customers, but only to us. A friend of mine loves this place and invited me here for dinner. She comes often for happy hour and highly recommended it. After my visit, I have to agree. I will definitely be back! I started with a glass of Merlot and the Tom Yum soup. I ordered it spicy with chicken and it was perfect to warm me up as we dined outside. On the server's recommendation I ordered the curry lamb. It was tender and flavorful and absolutely delicious. My friend tried it and agreed that I had chosen a winner. She had the shrimp cucumber salad which was very fresh & tasty and some sort of cakes made of eggplant which were phenomenal. I'll be back just for the them. Kudos to Howard for 'Wow' customer service and my compliments to the chef! Recently went to Chatayee for the 5th time and it was the most memorable in terms of freshness and deliciousness of the food and the service we received. It wasn't very crowded after work but I had made a reservation (an actual human responds!) and was seated immediately and at the table I had requested. Our server, Howard, was on point out of the gate with 5-star treatment. He came over right away and provided water and asked about drinks. We ordered a spicy mango margarita and the Tom Yum on the Rocks. The drinks were strong and delicious. (I always order the Chili Mango Margarita and there have been other times when I felt the bartender did not put much care into making it.) Everything I've had here, especially from the vegan menu, has been amazingly tasty and I try to order something new each time. But I ALWAYS get the Massaman & Roti--a delicious sweet curry stew served with a fluffy nan type bread. Absolutely my favorite. Don't ever pass that up. There have been other times when I notice that this restaurant has struggled with staffing as many restaurants are post-quarantine. (Howard was the bartender too and I noticed few other servers.) Also keep in mind restaurants are doing way more takeout and this can create delays from the kitchen when it seems like the restaurant is relatively empty. There have been a couple of times when servers have been a little off-putting or gotten orders wrong but they are usually unmemorable (in a good/neutral way.) A bit of a heads-up that in my opinion these aren't everyday kind of take-out place prices or serving sizes. If you come with a group of "Hungry Men" and want to leave full I would recommend ordering at least 1-2 appetizers per person to share, 1 entree per person to share, and an additional fried rice entree (i.e. Jasmine Fried Rice) to share. Light eaters will be fine with sharing an 1 appetizer between 2 people and ordering an entree each. But whatever you do, share all the wonderful flavors. TL;DR 1. Howard the bartender/server will take excellent care of you. 2. Try the Chili Mango Margarita 3. you MUST order the Massaman & Roti appetizer 4. Get lots of plates and SHARE. 5. We went here for a last minute birthday gathering on a weeknight with a large group. The service was absolutely amazing! Everyone was so nice and attentive. The restaurant itself is beautiful and a great place for groups. The food was also good. The spice levels are true to the cuisine so order accordingly. Some of the group got medium and it was quite spicy. One of the dishes was quite dry but we asked for more sauce and they provided it to us pretty quickly. Not only did they make us wait for nearly 30 minutes without saying a word to us but they refused to make eye contact with me. I was the only black person seated among the 8 total tables with patrons. I even said excuse me to one of the bussers after he passed me with empty hands for the 4th time and he kept his head up and didn't look at me. No offers of drinks or appetizers. No check ins to see if we knew what we liked on the menu. Nothing. Nearly 30 minutes. As an FYI for anyone black who wants to be a patron, I was dressed nicely and smiled at the staff. This place has gone through a few iterations over the past 3 or 4 years, and I like the current one. The menu has variety without being all over the place. I tend to stick to basics for entrees (pad Thai, curries) since I like to try different appetizers. Every dish I have ordered has been yummy. And unlike my experiences with past iterations of this place, the cocktails have been solid during recent visits (although that may vary depending on who's behind the bar on a given night). I never post reviews but I was seriously so disappointed with my experience. I ordered Tom Yum Soup from Chatayee. When it arrived, it was cold. Not even warm. The portion size was laughable, it looked like half a portion. It tasted like spicy water. There was none of the flavor that Tom Yum soup should have. I could have poured water from my sink into a bowl and added a dash of hot sauce for the same thing they served me. There were a small handful of vegetables and a tiny amount of chicken. It was TERRIBLE. If I wasn't sick, I would have sent it back, but at that point I was feeling awful and was so tired, I didn't want to wait another two hours to go through the return process. What a disappointing waste of money. I will never order from here again. read more

came here for lunch and had a great meal! it was a little bit empty but it's also a HUGE restaurant. as time went on, more patrons came in. we started with the butternut squash soup, which didn't look like it sounded but it was yummy! it was a clear broth with vegetables and some chicken. i would have preferred some tom yum but it was still yummy then we ordered the roti which isn't on the lunch menu but it's so delicious it's a must! they gave a decent quantity of roti with curry which i appreciated. perfect portion for 2 people my friend and i split the shrimp pad see ew and the red curry. both were cooked very well and had great flavors. i wanted a little bit more for the price (especially the curry) but they are lunch portions so i would hope the dinner is bigger. all in all, the service was great and the food was delicious! i'll def be back to try out their HH specials read more
