I've been to Cheba Hut in Tempe, San Diego, and Denver and I love their sandwiches so I can't even tell you how stoked I was that there was one right next door to the hotel I was staying at in Dillon during a snowboard trip! After a long day on the mountain we made a run for some subs and I was really impressed with this location. Had a white widow that was absolute perfection, and split some garlic cheese bread with the crew that was ideal for sharing. Extremely clean, well-run, food was on point and exactly what I needed. Met Dylan, the manager/co-owner and he was super friendly and took great care of my friends and I, as well as providing some great suggestions for beverages at the bar. Really great food with an extremely friendly staff. A laidback environment where it seems like everyone is happy to be there, employees included. The sandwiches are unique and have unique and hilarious names. Alcohol is available at the bar in the back of the restaurant with a decent selection of draft and canned or bottled beer. The tuna melt with gardiniera on garlic bread is EVERYTHING. Seriously. My mouth full of my first bite and I looked at my husband and said, "Fuuuuck," little flecks of bread and spit going everywhere. He definitely married an imperfect woman. I've been eating Cheba Hut since I went to college in Arizona and the quality has stayed consistent over the years. Just getting to this review now because the folks at this location are really sweet people. We ate at the bar and the nice stoner behind the bar was great. We stayed longer than we intended. Our big party arrived in Silverthorne and were just looking for a quick dinner after a full day of travel. We found Cheba's and were so excited to check it out, as we were starving and hadn't eaten in over 8 hours. We arrived at 9pm ready for that sweet sweet salami and Swiss. The thought of a toasted sub was all that was keeping me going that night. Unfortunately, our hopes and dreams were torpedoed in an instant - the rude employees at Cheba's closed almost an hour early on a Tuesday and laughed at us when we tried to walk in at 9pm. They pointed and laughed at us as we fell to our knees, pleading for even a morsel if sustenance. Their cackles billowed up as we plodded away with our tails in between our legs. I loved this place! From the amazing decor to the incredible reggae music, every detail here was delicious! So many veggie friendly options that were also hearty and satisfying. Every bite packed a punch of flavor and I loved carrying our sandwiches to the bar for some house-made infused vodkas and moonshine (although the homage to the 90's kool-aid fountain was tempting). Eventually caved and had to get some dorito-nachos which were perfect. I wish i lived closer to this place, I would come hang out all the time! What a.. unique.. experience. Coming into Dillon after a long westward road trip during the start to a busy holiday weekend. All the full-service staples had lines out the door until late, so it was off to find fast food that wasn't a Subway or McDonalds. We tried the Odoba next door and instead opted for Cheba. We will be back. I think it's par for the course in a place like Colorado (thanks to recreational legalization) to find stoner-vibe food spots, and as the sign on the door would allude, Cheba is definitely one. I got the 5-0 Blunt (all their sandwich sizes pay homage to marijuana terms - the small is a "Nug", the medium is a "Pinner", and the large is a "Blunt". Mine came with garlic bread, which was excellent. The sandwich itself was toasted to perfection and none of the cold ingredients had been overheated. Nothing was soggy, the bread was crispy, and everything tasted amazing. Those who prefer a laid-back atmosphere may be best served exploring other options - the entire restaurant is covered in various bumper stickers and decals and the music is techno-EDM. There's even a small bar in the back - a touch which I would never have come to expect from a sub shop. Prices are good, portions are generous, overall, great experience.
