The food is really good here! Everything was hot when it came out and it all was super fresh. It's also really cool how they have kool aid on tap. I strongly recommend getting the kali mist. It's amaze balls! They also have rice krisy treats made out of fruity pebbles. You need one of those. The only thing I didn't like was how loud it was. I had to scream at the person who was taking my order for them to hear me. Also, they seemed a little stoned so that didn't help. Still a great place. You should check it out! read more

Always the best subs ever! It took some creativity to come up with these ingredients but it all goes together so well.

Visiting Phoenix for work and stopped in to grab a sandwich. The whole vibe is chill and casual. Music is playing so not ideal to take a call, but remember you're there for food! I have two young kids and would take them here. However, if you're uptight regarding a hemp setting, this may not be the place to bring your kids. I ordered the meatball, aka "The Bomb" and it was the bomb. Not the typical meatball, sauce, cheese, & bread in their sub. It came with the above along with mushrooms and bell peppers. Whoa!? What a great idea! It was pretty outstanding. The bread was toasted, nice touch. I went with medium or "Pinner" haha, with a drink. Came to $10. Not bad for what I received. Definitely going back to try something else while I'm in town. I'm also going to grab the old school Kool Aid that they serve too! read more

Cheba hut continues to do a few things for me. First, it's THEME confuses and stresses me out. The art on the wall, the songs playing, they all fit together very well. You definitely get transported somewhere when you walk in their doors. The FOOD is consistently powerful. The bread is perfectly fluffy and warm. The veggies taste fresh and crunchy. The meat tastes meaty. The shake they put on most subs is worth getting shot for. I would take multiple bullets (probably on the same streets that Cheba Hut is located in, oddly enough) just to get a full shaker of that goodness. The PEOPLE are interesting. In the bar, they are loud, and at the register, they are respectful. Choose where you want to sit according to how quiet you want the surroundings to be. The SERVICE is not that slow, considering they have signs telling you they aren't going to hurry. I've never waited more than 5 minutes for a Kali Mist (The best item on there IMO). The waiters and the staff are very friendly, and also fitting of the stoner vibe. All in all, I would do a few unspeakable things for another sub, and many more things for their shake. read more

I've been getting the White Widow sub for years. I think this sandwich place is under estimated due to their choice of theme/decor. They make great quality sandwiches and deserve a lot more credit. I usually get the white widow, which is basically a bacon chicken ranch sub. I get it without the mushrooms and get all the fixings on it. Their homemade ranch is sooooo good. Don't expect super quick service. They even have a sign that mentions "quality takes time". This location doesn't have that many parking spaces, so you may need to parallel park. read more

Awful customer service, we ordered through doordash and we were missing a few items from our list. When we called them they said "we forgot to hand it to the guy" and I asked what our options are and they responded with that we cannot deliver it or give you a refund back which is odd. As this being their fault and not the doordash employees you'd think they would try to help out a bit more. This also isn't the first time they've "forgotten" to give us what we ordered. Love that we have a Cheeba Hut in the hood!! Very friendly customer service and both times I've been my sandwich was just as expected!! I've been frequenting the Mesa location for over a decade so it's nice to have one so close to home. Good selection of craft beers at the bar, looks like Friday is all day happy hour at $3 a glass for craft, not to bad at all. Don't forget to try the munchies!! I tried the Cap'n Crunch bar, wowsers! I ordered a power plant & forgot to ask them to take off the feta. I got here & asked at the register & they re-made my sandwich with NO arguments. Vegan choices. Laid back, clean atmosphere. Friendly, easy going service. Outdoor seating. A bar (if you drink) but off to the side if you want to avoid alcohol altogether. Limited parking but definitely worth the hassle. I give this restaurant 3 stars because the subs here did not exceed or meet my expectations. The subs have been over-hyped by my friends and the main reason I give it less than four stars is because upon ordering a desert cereal treat or brownie, the sticker on it said "Wednesday A.M. " and it was a monday. The other times it was the same thing but different days and it honestly made me uncomfortable because logically, they gave me OLD treats that were not fresh. One of the best and coolest places to eat in Phoenix. Sandwiches are outstanding (the white widow is my favorite) the service is great and always friendly, atmosphere like no other being a weed theme but not overwhelming at all, people that are against drugs should not be turned away from this awesome spot. They even have a full bar inside with beers on tap, AND 4 flavors of Kool-Aid on tap at the drink station with free refills. Well, you wont walk out of this place high, but probably a few pounds heavier. Lol. Their white widow is AMAZING. I have not been to Cheba Hut in probably 10 years, partially because I forgot about them (I live downtown where up until now they had none in Phoenix). I'm not exactly sure for being around 18 years, why it took so long to have a Phoenix location, but I must say, it was worth the wait! Very good food. I like the 3 different size options. Happy hour daily. I think the whole pot theme is a bit overdone (for someone who doesn't smoke). But I guess that's the whole thing that sets this place apart. You step inside a trippy well decorated building. Luckily, my 7 year old only chose to point out the slug bugs all over the place, and not anything else! Will definitely be back, and probably put on all the 10 pounds ive lost over the summer! read more

Cheba Hut is a Phoenix staple. They've got multiple locations in the valley and, unfortunately, they vary in quality. We got 2 Griefos here and they were both very skimpy. I've had the same sandwich at other locations and it was quite good. But here we got mostly bread and cheese (a few wisps of lettuce and a tomato). They have a pretty decent selection of beer, though. So that's nice. read more

They are open for takeout YAY! My coworker suggested this because they have a vegan option for her so we have now ordered on their app twice. Both times my sandwich was really really good. I had the 5-0 which was like an Italian sub and I really enjoyed it. I added the chipotle mayo which was a nice kick. The only thing that could have been better is that my pepperoccini were massive, not cut in bites but otherwise a great sub. We had ordered 4 different app orders and they brought them all out in a box and were fairly quick considering what is going on right now. I was also really happy with the price. This was the most reasonable and a really good size sandwich for what we paid compared to several other places in this area. The server was going to everyone's car and working really fast and hard at keeping up with all the takeout and it is much appreciated for those of us still working full time! read more

All Cheba hut sammies are soooo tasty especially for vegetarians. This location, however, has very poor phone etiquette so placing to go/take out orders can be a little frustrating. They often answer "hello?" Or "cheba hut" in a monotone, annoyed sounding voice, followed by a "yeah what do you want" to actually order. Most times I have to confirm I'm calling the right location, and have to ask to have the order read back to me. If to go orders are such a hassle for the employees maybe it shouldn't be offered as an option anymore? But like I said the food is amazing and whenever I'm there ordering at the counter there has never been an issue! read more

I can not recommend Cheba Hut DT more. Always a nice place to chill on a day off or during a work break. Really whenever. I'm always happy with the food: sandwiches, loaded nachos and the side Greek salad. I just enjoyed a blackberry sour and a side Greek salad and couldn't be happier. Besides the food, the bar experience and service is notable. James is the best!! Enjoy this beautiful place. The high vaulted brick building is a major plus! read more

I am a long time Cheba Hut customer. I love the sandwiches. I love the environment and I keep coming back. My last particular visit, which was today, put a bit of a bad taste in my mouth and it isn't because of the food. Me and a few of my friends ordered and took a seat at a table. One by one, we all started having our food brought to the table. All except one of us. My friend is the least difficult person I know so he was fine waiting. After some time, he stopped an employee to ask what the status of his food was. She explained that she tried calling for him but that he wasn't paying attention so she gave his food away. He then told the employee that he was under the impression that the food would be brought to him since the food was brought out to everyone and he simply asked why the situation was any different for him. At this point the employee began to get defensive and argumentative. Everyone in our party felt as though she was putting blame on him. Here's my issue, I've worked in the restaurant industry before. I've been a server, a bartender, and a manager. I know sometimes there are things that are out of your control. And I especially have dealt with my fair share of difficult customers. However, this felt unprovoked. And there are several ways this could have been avoided. There are all of maybe 7 tables in this particular location, why not just go table to table and double check to see if the food belonged to anyone there? When everyone in our group had their food except for one person, why not ask him if he was waiting on something? Even if he wasn't I feel like this is basic server/ food worker, etiquette. Lastly, if nobody claimed the food, why not just hold onto it and put it on the side until someone came to claim it? It doesn't make sense. Somebody paid and ordered that food, obviously they will come and get it, why be so quick to give it away? I've had this happen plenty of times and there's always been a time frame, in anywhere that I've worked, where we held onto the food just in case someone would ask for it or in case a dish or part of their meal had been missing. It just wasn't the best experience and the employee handled the situation very poorly. read more

Looooove CHeBA Hut! The employees are friendly, helpful, and personable. The bar makes some great drinks, especially the Bloody Mary. There's beer on tap, Kool Aid on tap, and tasty sandwiches. A super chill atmosphere, although it is usually pretty busy inside of every Cheba Hut. FOOD POISONING!!!!!!! Do NOT GO HERE or to any cheba hut location for that matter. I went there for dinner got the chicken Thai stick sandwhich - ending up with a TERRIBLE food poisoning that has lasted for days now. 12 hours of non stop vomiting, i couldn't even drink water or hold down any liquids at all! Day later and my stomach is still messed up and non stop diarrhea. AWFUL. On top of all of this I called the manager to tell her what happened so that no one else has to go through what I went through and she was so incredibly RUDE to me! No apology at all. She called me a liar on top of all of it!!! I can't believe her! I was literally about to go to the hospital from your food poisoning me and you're going to be a bitch to me right now?! Also like the manager doesn't care enough to make sure no one else gets food poisoning?! What kind of manager are you?! Sounds like the manager knows NOTHING about food safety omg so scary. I've had food poisoning once before and so I know what it's like and I know that cheba hut did this to me, I KNOW. On top of that ever since I've posted my experience on Instagram there has been literally 8 other people in my area (phx) message me about their experience with food poisoning from cheba hut too!! So that just proves that cheba hut is nasty AF, & your manager does not know how to properly train people on food temps etc idk what's going on there but stay far away. Fantastic place! Found this place by accident and the sandwiches are amazing. Doesn't take too long, affordable, and hits the spot. Cool decorations inside as well, and had good vegetarian options for my friend. And we received free crispy treats- really nice and tasted great!
