The potato soup was very goodcand nicely garnished but the portion size was small. The half size club sandwich was pretty good. The salad was very good and the honey lime dressing was good. The croissant was good but a little different. My companions had fish and shrimp and were pleased. Server was a little phoney. Gnats buzzed around. So my total for the soup salad and half sandwich was around 11. Not all booths accomodate overweight customers. Club sandwich should have been on texas toast. read more

Solid American chain fare. Never had bad food here. Portions are large and pricing is in line with other restaurants. I don't understand the comments comparing with Cracker Barrel, the menu options and target clientele are completely different. The service is hit and miss, but like every decent restaurant in Hendersonville if you go past 5:00pm on any night you can expect a wait, and weekends border on ridiculous. Never have understood this but great for the owners I guess. Small waiting area does not help. Parking and access follows this pattern also. This is an update to my previous review about how cold it has always been in this restaurant. I have to say, not only was Cheddar's written response here on Yelp thoughtful and professional (in contrast to the snarky tone of my review!), but we actually DID come back the next day for dinner. As soon as I walked in, there was a marked difference in the temperature. Very comfortable! We had a very pleasant meal with friends. Thanks for your response, Cheddar's! Our waitress was fabulous and that's as far as positives go. We spent 3 hours in the restaurant and this wasn't due to socializing. It was due to EXTREMELY slow service. We were at our table for almost 45 minutes before our drink order was taken. Our checks were all wrong (most of us overcharged for what seemed like the next table's food). The biggest turn off was that we had a party of 7 girls. They sat us at a BOOTH and would not give us an extra chair until I spoke with a manager. We don't have Cheddars in California so my husband and I decided to give it a try. I was a little skeptical because I assumed it would be like a Cracker Barrel which I think is just okay. I ordered the lunch special with the baked potato soup and half club sandwich...huge portions for $7.99 I think. When it came out, I asked the server that I thought my meal came with a cup of soup since I was served a bowl of soup and he informed me that that was their cup serving size. Well my boyfriend and I gave Cheddars a second chance recently, because the time before we had awful service. The food has always been pretty good and that's why we choose to go back. We had great service this time and the drinks and food were great!! The only complaint I would have is that we ordered an appetizer and barely had the chance to eat any of it before our dinner came out. We were still charged for the appetizer. I guess timing is everything. I have been many times and I have never had a bad time ever. The last time I was there it was storming out. We had finished our meal and the storm really kicked up. The power went out briefly and it did something to the computer system because they could not find our check. Instead of asking us to wait while they re-entered it the manager covered our tab. Service was horrible as we waited 25 minutes to even be greeted by a server after we were sat. The "grilled pineapple salsa" looked like it came straight from a Dole can and all the food was room temperature at best when it arrived. After we sent our food back and it came back the same way, we gave up. The table across from us which was not bused when we sat down was still not bused when we left, which takes on a new level of nasty at a supposedly nice restaurant. The salad that was ordered as an appetizer was not delivered until after the main course, and after reminding multiple wait staff that it had not come yet. Great place if you can handle a loud restaurant. Almost everything on the menu is great and under $10! Great drinks, decent service for the most part and the food is good. You do have to order fries separate from your burger, but making things ala carte like that is good, because they allow you to have any side you want with your sandwiches or burgers. The BEST on the menu is the Buffalo Chicken Wrappers. You can have them without the Buffalo sauce if you are timid. Plenty of food to take some home on that meal, great the next day! Good for groups up to about 8 or 10, but not more than that if you all want to sit together. read more

I went for the first time last summer after moving here. The chicken pecan salad was flavorful except for the main part, the lettuce. They should put better less watery lettuce and more ingredients to offset the chicken and candied pecans. My husbands food was average as well. The server didn't seem like he liked his job unfortunately, even though he was semi polite. This is one of our favorite places to eat in Hendersonville. The atmosphere is great and the service and food is always top notch. Story time: So my girlfriend and I came in at about 7:30 for dinner on a Saturday, were told there would be a wait of about 25mins, cool... we'll just go watch Dr. Strange (good movie by the way), and then comeback afterwards. SO, we do that, and now we're fairly tired and just ready for some food at about 10:20pm we come back to no wait, (YAY!) and get seated. Now, here's where my critique comes from a 5 star to a 1. Hostess was 10/10, cracked jokes with us, made us feel like we were talking to a person, good times. The place could have been cleaner, (but it's a Saturday, we'll cut some slack.) but I digress. So we sit down and get our drink order about 3 minutes after we sit down, our waitress was not having any of what we were selling. Both my girlfriend and I tried to make jokes with her, no response, she just blank stares both of us like: "no... this is an eatery, not a comedy club". So we order our food. 15 minutes later our salads come out, and then, on attempt to tell our waitress thank you, my girlfriend says "thanks Christina!" In a very happy tone. "Christina" is wiping the table behind us and doesn't even acknowledge her, so... she tries again. "THANKS CHRISTINA." In the most quiet YELL I've ever heard. The waitress then turns her head and says "are you talking to me?" Well yes, naturally we would want to thank the person who served our food... but for the sake of argument, let's continue. "Um, yeah, I thought I overheard someone talk to you say the name Christina, so I assumed that was your name." Says my girlfriend. "My name's Christmas..." she replies.... BOTH PARTIES ARE LOOKING AT EACH OTHER WITH STRAIGHT FACES AND MY GIRLFRIEND SAYS: "what was your name?" "Christmas." ..... ..... she walks away.... doesn't say a word. My girlfriend just looks at me and says "did I do something wrong?" "You assumed." I replied, as I got up to go to the bathroom to wash up before eating. WE'RE NOT DONE YET FOLKS. As I walk past the kitchen into the bathroom, I notice the floors and how I could pinpoint every single shoe step over it. So, I sit down on the toilet, because why not kill 2 birds with 1 stone, and I attempt to do the deed. 2 people walk in during this time but they approach 1 at a time. Player 1 sounded like he was drunk and enjoying his night (ATLEAST someone is), and is singing alongside the tunes of pink Floyd and anything else the radio might spit out at him, then leaves. I'm still talking to a man about a horse during this interaction. Player 1 leaves. PLAYER 2 ENTERS THE GAME. I realize that I've been here for FAR too long, and I get out and go to wash my hands. Player 2 steps up next to me and he too starts washing his hands. No words are expressed during this interaction between player 2 and myself. I say my abc's and then I attempt to use the worlds longest time waster invented, the automatic paper towel dispenser. I take my usual 3 paper towels (2 for the bulk, 1 for the remainder), and I then attempt to hold the door open for player 2.... THIS MAN IS TAKING 9 PAPER TOWELS. After an awkward head non to each other and about 30 seconds of me holding this door open, I leave because I'm not a door man, not dealing with this. So i get back to the table and see our food is ready to eat. Grabbed my shrimp and dipped it into THE FIREY GATES OF HELL COCKTAIL SAUCE, so I try the chicken in the honey mustard... not too shabby. I eat 2 shrimp, 1 piece of chicken, and 3 forkfuls of mac and cheese. I'm done at this point, over it all. So. We leave, giving a good tip, and a very audible "THANK YOU!" To them as we walked outside deciding maybe we shouldn't go back on a Saturday. Right now I'm sitting at about 3/5 stars for them. We get home and lay down and enjoy an extra hour of sleep (thank you daylight savings), and then at 3 am, she goes home. I wake back up at about 6 AND DESTROY MY TOILET WITH SOME LETHAL COMBINATION OF WATER AND FECAL MATTER AND PAIN TO MY STOMACH. I think it's just me, so I'm still sitting at about 3/5 stars. Then, 9 am approaches and she texts me good morning, and then decides to inform me that she too had an unsettling stomach last night. When she went home, she ran into the bathroom and PROJECTILE VOMITED DIRECTLY INTO THE SWIRLING PORCELAIN ABYSS, stating that the food didn't sit right with her, so... all in all 1/5. TLDR: Went to dinner, pissed off Christmas, held a door for far too long, came home and destroyed our toilets respectively. Cheddars, step up your game. read more

Customer Service Horrible at Cheddar's! Father's Day, June 15, 2014 my first time to go to Cheddar's, but not my husband, so we decided why not. Even though the place was packed we were seated within five minutes. Our waitress was the issue and I believe her name was Emily but by the time we left we were so angry I forget the name. We waited around ten minutes before she ever came to our table, giving us her name and then taking our drink order and our appetizer order. We ordered diet coke, mango fruit tea and chips/salsa. She walked away coming back about fifteen minutes later, while we sat and watched her serve the tables around us with some of those patrons having been seated after us, arriving to our table with only a diet drink and the excuse that she was sorry for the wait but that the computer was down and she was not able to get our chips/salsa or the mango fruit tea, but would take our order so she could go ahead and place our order and would check on the fruit tea. So we waited another fifteen minutes, while watching the restaurant manager take care of a large group that also had some kind of issue/problem and they were seated across from us. Funny though this very same manager walked by our table numerous times the forty minutes we sat there but never seemed to notice we had nothing on our table but one diet coke. Our waitress then approached the table behind us bringing their food to them (they had already been served their drinks) and they being the family who had come in after us, so we decided it was time to leave. As we got up, while the waitress was serving the table behind us, she said very loudly, "oh I can't bring your mango tea because the bartender has stepped away from the bar". That in itself was not appropriate of her for a table who was being served in a timely fashion to hear. We will never frequent a Cheddars establishment again! Where has America's customer service gone to! BAD customer service seems to be so prevalent in almost every facet of the work force OR does management just not care anymore. We all know that waiters/waitresses don't make money from the establishment itself but from the tips they receive for a job well done. Our family loves Cheddars. Whenever we head south, we seek out Cheddars. The onion ring appetizer is outrageously good! The first night I had salmon that was a bit overcooked. The second night I had the Monte Cristo...which was fantastic! Everyone at the table wanted a piece of it. Highly recommended! Service was very good both nights. I love Cheddar's, so much so, that while out of town we decided to go there. Our server, Miguel, was awful. I am never one to complain, but all the tables around us that had a different waiter were seated after us, got their food, and left before we got our food or our drinks were refilled, even once. I had to remind him AFTER we got our food that we had ordered soup as an appetizer. He didn't check on us for over an hour, or i would have mentioned that earlier. I know this was not a kitchen issue, which i would be more sensitive to, but we waited over an hour for our food while other people were getting theirs around us. We all got chicken and one got a club sandwich. Fries were cold when they came out, and like I said never got refills while waiting. We also witnessed him just standing at the computer not doing anything multiple times. Also, when there was a table of his that finally left, he was over there in a flash to get the money from them. Used to be one of my favorite places to eat back around 2010-2012 but I went for the last time. I understand budget cuts and that usually means sacrificing food quality but these guys took it to a new level. Actually wound up going to a fast food restaurant afterward because neither of us ate our food. The worst part was our waiter came to the table twice- to take our drink order and to bring the check. We have eaten at this location over 20 times since its opening. The price was excellent and the food was good, however the quality of both food and service has greatly deteriorated over the last year or so. The food has become bland, mushy, and overall unpleasant. Unless you enjoy a fried menu item and even then it is hit or miss, I would strongly recommend dining elsewhere. The service has become mediocre. A huge pet peeve of mine is a dirty menu! After opening theirs I wanted to put on rubber gloves! YUCK! And seriously, how hard would it be come up with new menu items, or even a special or two? read more

Went on Saturday June 27, 2015 to celebrate my MIL's 75th birthday. She loves their Monte Christo's! We were seated quickly with no wait, but the seats of our booth were not clean and we had to wipe them off. My husband ordered a steak medium well but had to send it back as it was practically mooing. My daughter ordered pasta alfredo but it was so dry that she couldn't eat it. Our appetizer had started to congeal on top due to cooling when we received it. Half of our meal was good the other half not so much. Not sure if we will go back again. read more
