Let me start by saying the food was very good. Now for all the cons. First when we were going to be seated we asked for a booth, they told my wife and I it would be a 10 minute wait for a booth so we settled for a table. Not 5 minutes after we are seated the couple that walked in after us was seated in a booth across from us. When it came to ordering my wife attempted to order a meal without onions and the waitress explained that she couldn't do that because it was pre made..... How is this a scratch kitchen of meals are pre made before ordering????? My wife said that's fine and order the meal anyways. We didn't see our waitress until my meal came out and I was confused as I didn't see my wife's. After an addition 5 minutes of waiting we asked another employee about my wife's meal and she brought the manager over explaining that it was never ordered. Shocked as we both were my wife just settled for some more soup and bit her tongue and was ready to leave. To add on our original waitress finally came over to apologize and 10 minutes after the manager and she didn't ask or refill our drinks until the very end of the meal. I am so glad I had a gift card to pay for this meal as I would be even more disappointed than I already am. Wouldn't recommend anyone dine in but take out due to the food actually being rather delicious but the service and respect for customers is that of a Walmart. read more

Got everything right on my first visit. Been to many others in Texas and this location meets the same standards. The only negative is that it gets really busy. If you go during peak hours, you run the risk of them potentially messing up your order just like anywhere else. I always order the steak and chicken tenders tossed in buffalo sauce. read more

I would not recommend this place and will not be returning. The service was very poor. We had to ask to even order our meals. It took far longer than expected and when it finally arrived, it was of poor quality. It was not due to the lack of flavor, but my palette was continuously abused by the abundance of foul flavors. The Mac n cheese was similar to the smell of burnt plastic. The Dijon chicken was a chicken breast with honey mustard slathered on top cheap rice. The Monte Cristo was a train wreck of flavors. The maple bacon chicken sandwich was average. Our server brought our food and didn't return to our table until it was time for the check. Very bad service. LONG waits with no explanation. Waitress disappears for 30+ minutes at a time and never checks on us. No food, empty drinks. Manager very rude about it and acts shocked that a customer would complain about being ignored. He seems to think it's very reasonable to be left on our own in a restaurant with no food or anything to drink. This is when they first open at 11:00 and aren't even busy yet. I stood at the bar for 10 minutes waiting for a bartender. My wife and I waited 40 mins for our appetizer. When I asked the hostess Jasmine where I our server was she told me, " Oh it's just Saturday. I can get you the manager if that would appease you." To which I replied, " We've been waiting on an appetizer for 40 minutes and there's hardly anyone in here." Another server standing there asked what we had and got it for us. Our server Erica arrived approximately 3 minutes later with our main order and was surprised to see our appetizer. Erica came to our 3 times in an hour and a half. My food was returned because it dry from possibly sitting (under a heat lamp). Over all the service was terrible and we will definitely not be coming back. I was in the service industry for 10 years and I know this isn't how you treat patrons. We LOVE Cheddar's! Yes there can be a wait, but that is not unusual for a newer restaurant and we believe that the wait is worth it. What we love about cheddars is that the menu is so diversified - not the same old, same old that a lot of the restaurants have. Our food has always been excellent and plentiful. We have been many times and have always enjoyed it. As a matter fact, we are having take-out from there tonight. We dine out a lot! We have never commented that the service has been poor so therefore I Know that this has never been a problem for us. I highly recommend you trying this restaurant. read more

It is unfortunate that I have to write this review. I actually like cheddars but my experience at the town center location was less than acceptable. My wife ordered a buffalo chicken wrap with out pickles on it. However when it came out it had pickles on it. No big deal send it back and make a new one. No more than 3 minutes later here "New" dish was back. All they had done was remove the pickles and told us they remade it you could taste the pickles and see where they had been and a whole new meal made in under 3 minutes that's just unbelievable. The waiter lied and said they remade it. Then we sent it back again again. They did remake it but then the chicken was half warm and half cold. I left and had to get my wife food at another place. My first time at a scratch kitchen. That's right. They make everything here. As advertised. It's a new place, so it's pretty well clean. Has a very downtownish/rustic feel...if you can picture that. Anyways. It's me and 2 others. Our server's name is Andrew who took very good care of us. New restaurants tend to start out shaky so they usually start out with bad or sub par reviews to what their potential could be. But he was very attentive to our needs and very knowledgable on the menu. A lot of new servers choke when they get asked questions concerning their own menu, but Andrew did a great job. So I'm giving service 5 stars. Drinks!! Because who doesn't like to order a happy drink at dinner? So I order the Cheddar's painkiller (forgive me for not remembering what was in it, but it's reminiscent to a rum runner if you know what that is), and my friend orders the Cheddar's long island. Both tasted great and had a great presentation. My drink had a fine print under it "limit 2 per guest". I can totally see why they would do this. The drink is served in a ginormous glass. And with the all the content in the drink, it is justified. We also order their spinach dip for an appy. Good. Even the small side of salsa that came with it tasted amazing. So for the entrées. I order one of their specials, the Cheddar's Cajun Pasta I think it was called. Amazing. My friend ordered the Baja chicken Alfredo. Very good. The sauce wasn't very soupy and empowering as some places have it. And my other friend orders their country fried chicken. Also very good. So food was exceptional. So overall, I'm giving it the full 5 stars. Let's keep in mind that the alcohol from my "limit 2 per guest" happy drink has already creeped up on me. But I'm leaving the rating as is. I ordered the chicken tortilla soup. After an afternoon of throwing up, I would never eat at this restaurant again. The soup was apparently microwaved and tasted horrible. I only ate four spoonful's since my husband and I were starving We waited 40 minutes for our order to arrive. My husband ordered the blackened chicken with rice and beans. My bloody mary was undrinkable , my pasta salad had lettuce in it with old pasta, chicken strips (the only thing i ate of my order), and some caesar dressing and parm.....it also took forever to come out as did my soup which turned out to basically be pico with cheese, a little broth, and a few tortilla strips....just not edible food!! My boyfriend got the fried chicken with mashed potatoes, white gravy, green beans, and"texas toast" (a piece of white toast smeared slightly with garkic butter).... The green beans were good at least but we were let down, hungry, and kinda grossed out and could've been happier with cracker barrel! From the start, our experience was horrible. We were told there was a 45 minute wait for the four of us, including me and a few family members for a birthday, which made sense to us a first, seeing as there were lots of people waiting in the lobby, and more and more people coming in. Once we finally were seated, though, I noticed the entire row of tables next to ours was empty. There were at least 5 booths with a 4-5 capacity, 5 half booths with two chairs on the other end, and a curved seating area meant for bigger parties. So why were they telling people there would be 20-50 minute wait, depending on the size of the party? The waitress came within about 5-10 minutes, apologized for our wait and said she'd take our order with our drinks if we had already looked at the menu. Three of us ordered the same thing, a 6oz. sirloin steak, a baked potato, and a salad. One of us ordered a pork chop, which was said to be laid on a bed of mash potatoes, with one side. The salads came first, although they came at different times. Of course, a salad is hard to mess up. Everyone was okay with their salads, but two of the salads had stale croutons. The waitress at the table next to mine must have heard my crunch through my rock-hard-crouton, as she gave me a weird look after the noise. After our salads, a different waitress came to give us our main dishes. This waitress had not been shadowing our original waitress, and had no idea which dish was which, even after reading things off of the paper that was given to her with our orders written on it. Next were our main dishes. Behold, a disaster. From the second she brought out the tray with the steaks, I could see how dry they would be. Usually when you're given a steak, there's a little pool of blood; Sometimes it even mixes into your potatoes a bit. This plate had a steak on it, a potato on it, and an extremely white plate. Nothing dripping. The steaks were a mess. Our waitress made it a point to ask how to cook our steaks when she took our orders, but every one we received were the same; Extremely uneven. They were completely charred on the outside, red in some places, brown in others. They were all cooked this way, even though we all asked for different temperatures. They were incredibly salty, to a point where we all stopped eating them. One of the dishes had onions on it, but not the other two. The pork chop was not laid on mash potatoes. We asked why, and our original waitress, who had returned, told us they ran out of mashed potatoes. The manager, who was standing behind her, told her the kitchen was not out of potatoes, so she apologized and brought us a new air of mashed potatoes. At this point I realized how horrible the communication between employees was. It took us an hour between our dishes being taken away, and ya actually leaving. I don't think I need to say that none of us will ever come back to this restaurant. read more

Absolutely terrible service. We ordered our appetizer with our drinks and when we ordered our entrees we requested our salads to come out before our meal. We waited patiently understanding there is usually a rush at lunch. We received our appetizer immediately followed by our entrees. When we pointed out to our server that we never received our salads she asked if we even wanted them anymore. We declined the salads and she removed the upcharge from our bill but since the salads were a substitute for a side that came with the meal we ended up paying for sides that we never received. This was not our first bad experience at a Cheddar's but it will be our last. We will not be returning. read more

Out of onion rings at 542 pm? Wife ordered Cornmeal White Fish with French fries and cole slaw. After our appetizer arrived, the server came back and informed my wife they were out of the Whitefish. She ordered the half rack of ribs with cole slaw and corn. I had Country Fried Chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy, southern green beans and Texas toast. I got the Santa Fe Spinach Dip for an appetizer. It had more spinach than cheese which is better than typical spinach dips. Could have used more chips. The waiter came back later informing us that my wife's ribs would come after my entree. Two entrees arrived, our original orders, which confused us, they took it away, brought her the ribs a bit later, then someone showed up with our original orders. After talking with the manager we found out that the cooker for the onion rings was broken. My meal was very good, could have used more gravy on the chicken. Wife's French fries were kind of soft and soggy, cole slaw was ok. Fish was crispy, light, and good. The ribs were boxed to take home for tomorrow. Needs improvement on communication between servers and kitchen. Food good. Service needs improvement. read more

We went to Cheddar's for Mother's Day, we were well aware it would be crowded; however when the hostess gives you a 30 min wait as a customer an hour and 10 minutes is unacceptable. I ordered a Passion Punch drink and the waiter told me they did not have the liquor for the Passion Punch. I told him "TY/waiter" ok! I will wait and you can come back to me. When I told him he had not taken my order he told me I didn't know you wanted to order with a very SASSY/and STANK ATTITUDE. I ordered the Strawberry Mojito. He came back and told me they did not have the mint for the Mojito. What restaurants does not have there liquor inventory in order when you first open? The waiter had an attitude with me, my cousin, and my husband. I told him to I wanted to speak with his manager. The manager politely came over and apologized. The pasta jambalaya was dry. In addition, we were told not to use the silverware. The waiter. The manager did give us free appetizers and dessert; however we ordered our dessert to go and when we got home there was no ice cream in the bag. Only one star because ZERO stars is not an option. In summary, I did not want to go this Cheddar's based on reviews I read. All around HORRIBLE! Went with six people. Long wait. Then we were introduced to our main waitress who had the ability to answer any question BEFORE we asked them. She was training a second waitress. No utensils, napkins or plates for appetizers we ordered. Both waitresses must have been hiding in the kitchen because we did not see them for a long time. Four people ordered soup. Three soups came out and we told the runner we did not have utensils and were missing a soup. Nobody came back to our table. We asked another waitress and she said no problem. After a long time our mind-reading waitress showed up with three long dessert spoons and not the missing soup. Our soups were cold now. We asked her about the missing soup and she came back and said they were making it fresh. Appetizers come and we still have no plates. They were not hot. Entrees arrived and my steak was improperly cooked and only grilled on one side! My sides were incorrect or missing. Not one order was correct. People got fries instead of a baked potato, incorrect veggies, etc. So much time elapsed and the waitress said there was a black out. Really? What blackout? She also said their were no clean spoons. I asked about a soup spoon and she said at least you got a spoon to eat it. I said my wife did not get her soup yet and she said when it is done it'll be out. Were were done eating and she brought my wife's soup out and asked how are we paying for our meal. I began to ask her about dessert and she cut me off. I said somebody wanted to get a piece of cake for their birthday but she cut me off again and said I thought you were done ordering. I said I did not ask you a question yet, so let me talk. She rolled her eyes at us and said "You ain't talking to me like dat." But none of us were rude or loud even though our dining experience SUCKED!!! We tried to tell her that her manners were rude and she said, "I am going to get my manager." We waited and waited which is usual for this LOUSY food joint and we had to ask a different waiter to get the manager and explained to him what our waitress told us. The manager came and he seemed concerned and embarrassed but this was a TERRIBLE experience. If you want long waits, bland food, cold food, lousy service, no utensils, no plates, RUDE wait staff, this is the place for you. read more

This restaurant is located in Jacksonville, near the St.Johns Town Center. My friends and I went for a late dinner at around 8 or 9pm. The restaurant itself is decorated nicely, the lighting is kind of dark inside but they have cute and trendy lights to add to the tone and decor of the restaurant. I had water and the chicken pot pie. The chicken pot pie comes with a salad or soup, I got the tortilla soup. Both the soup and chicken pot pie were sooooo good! I would give the food and beverage quality and quantity a 10 out of 10. You get a ton of food and the prices are not expensive at all, very reasonable especially for a college student. The value for the dollar would be a 10 out of 10, you get what you pay for and more. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. She was not over attentive at all, she knew when we needed refills and the service was quick and good. I would give the decor a 10 out of 10 as well. Like I said the decorations were very cute and trendy and also very fitting to the style of the restaurant. Overall, I had a very good experience and would recommend to friends or family. read more

First time visiting Cheddar's and the last time. We came on a Monday night around 6:30, and were told a 5-10 minute wait. No problem. We are seated at our table and greeted within 5 minutes. Get our drinks and put in our order. I had the New Orleans pasta and my friend had the club. When our server came to drop off our food, not a word was spoken. There was no "is there anything else y'all need?" "How does everything look?" Nothing. It was dead silent besides the thank you we said to her. My pasta was so salty and overloaded with Cajun seasoning, I couldn't even tell if the chicken was actually chicken or burnt rubber they threw in the dish. The club was subpar. Our server never checked on us, not even to refill our drinks. She didn't speak to us until we were pushing our plates to the side and asked for the check. I understand, being a server myself, you get busy, some tables are more neglected than others. But checking on the two tables next to us multiple times and just walking by us without saying a word is unacceptable. This place has been open for a few months at this point and should have worked out the kinks. read more

This place is so bad!!! We decided to sit at the bar because there was a wait. Me and my friend, and there was one couple at the bar as well. We were not greeted when we got over there. We had to ask for menus AND drinks. The dude came back for our order after we called him over. He put out order in, we then waited FOREVER(45-50 mins). I guess he overheard us talking about it taking so long, and he hollered to another waiter to go check on my order. The other waiter came back with our food, that seemed like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for ten minutes. The only good thing was my sweet potato with extra sugar and butter. My burger tasted like butt. There was no flavor whatsoever, and they didn't even put the onion strings on like I had asked. It was lukewarm, and gross. I didn't even eat half of it. We then asked for boxes and our check. Waiter brings us boxes, no check because he's busy arguing with the other waiter that just came over to take over. Complaining about how dirty and messy it is. Not what customers want to hear at a restaurant. So unprofessional as well. We wait ten more minutes. Next thing I notice is the guy I asked for our checks from is texting on his phone. At which point I had to yell across the bar for my freakin check again because had now been here for well over an hour and a half mid afternoon for two people. That's a bit ridiculous. This was literally the worst service ever in life. First the sever took 15 minutes to greet us and when he finally did he forgot both of our drinks because he claims he forgot to grab them . I asked for a sweet tea and it was clearly unsweet and he told me that's just how it is. Then once we were done browsing the menu and was ready to order he literally disappeared for 20 min and we had to ask 3 ppl to look for him. We didn't want to just leave because we already waited 30 min to be sat. When he finally came back we ordered the queso and chips which took for ever and our food was put in wrong . He said sorry at least 50 times for everything but honestly once you mess up repeatedly "sorry" is the last thing You want to hear . The food took an hour and he kept saying he doesn't know why it's taking so long . We asked for a manager and he never brought one by. My steak was not cooked right but I just ate it because I didn't want to wait anymore . The food was really good though. Although I highly believe I won't be returning .
