We are halfway between two different cheddar restaurants so we flipped a coin but unfortunately got the tail, not the head. This cheddars in Morgantown was out of everything starting with the freebie croissants. They didn't have baked potatoes or mashed potatoes or green beans or a host of other Things. There was a newbie in the kitchen who did not even know that a Montecristo comes with raspberry preserves and sprinkled with powdered sugar. The waitress was not the problem, she did all she could really do with what she had to work with. This was 100% purely a case of bad management. A good manager would have gone to the grocery store and bought what they needed but not here. The choice will be easy next time, going to Wheeling. read more

The restaurant was clean. Staff was smiling and friendly. Food was hot but not prepared or served as described. Plus....They were out of the croissants and literally most of their sides. I think they had fries and broccoli casserole available. I had a coupon for free queso and chips. Waitress seemed stressed about using the coupon and reminded me twice I can't use it again. My sister and I went here in July while apartment hunting for her. The ambiance is nice and the fish tank at the bar (where we sat) is SUPER-cool. My meal had to be comped completely. The salmon was so salty it was nearly inedible and the double-serving of broccoli on my plate was almost completely raw (except for a few small pieces). I've been to this Cheddar's many times over the years. The food is always delicious! One of the best things about it is the price. It's pretty cheap for good quality food! The portions are huge! For example with the buffalo chicken wrapper you get 4 wraps...4!! I've ordered it many many times...def my favorite and one of the best things on the menu. They have great fried chicken tenders. The croissants are also a must try but look like they have gotten smaller over the years. Monte Cristo is another great choice. The inside is nicely decorated. A casual laid back vibe. There are many places to shop nearby so the location is convenient with a large parking lot. My last trip wasn't the best as the service was slow. They also were out of diet Dr Pepper and a few salad dressings. It also took a while to get the check as the waitress explained something went wrong with the computer. Oh well those things happen. If you are in the area I def recommend Cheddar's over the other nearby chain restaurants. They offer a wide variety of food. read more

I wish I could give this restaurant negative stars because not only is this a RACIST establishment, but the food and service is trash. I waited over an HOUR for the salmon "meal" pictured below and the waitress was rude and was reluctant to serve me, like being a different skin color is a disease. This was one of my favorite places to go when in Morgantown, but not anymore. Our spinach dip appetizer was ice cold with frozen spinach in spots. Sent back and came out a second time still cold. No silverware, so they gave us take out plastic ware with one napkin per person. I ordered ribs and they had no to little barbecue sauce on them. Was just passing through on my way to Ohio to visit family, wanted something to eat that wasn't just another drive-thru so thought I'd give Cheddar's a try. I've seen their locations in several places but had never stopped in at any of them, and assumed it would be just another chain like Applebees et al. In a way, I was right. But then as I tell people, chains are successful for a reason. They get a bad rap, but at the end of the day they're consistent with decent prices. In this case, I had the monte cristo, which was delicious! My server was friendly, quick with drink refills, and didn't waste my time when it was time for the check. My husband wrapped his experience up as "forgettable", as he couldn't even remember what he had ordered a week later (a rarity for him, as he is a food scientist who loves trying different restaurants). I was not impressed by the Monte Cristo, but this may be in part due to some cultural differences between where I grew up and this region of the country (so not fully Cheddar's fault). The Monte Cristo was comparable to deep fat fried fair food. It had little to no flavor, but lots of grease. On the plus side, our server was pleasant, and the environment was clean. It was busy, but we were sat within a reasonable amount of time. Given how busy this restaurant appears to be, it is enjoyed by many. I've been to this cheddar's location a few times. I always look forward to going there whenever I'm in town. One of the best things about cheddars is the value. You get a lot of food - at a pretty high quality - for a low price. We had a party of 7 last night and made out for under $100. We got the spinach artichoke dip for an appetizer. It was very good - more cheesy than others I've tried. There weren't enough chips but they brought us more to finish the dip, which I appreciated. I got the baked spasagna. I've gotten it a few times and I love it. It's hard to go wrong with baked pasta. It's just baked spaghetti noodles into a brick, like a slice of lasagna. You can get it with meat or marinara sauce, and it comes with garlic bread. It's so good - but I can almost never finish it. It's huge! I also tried one of their croissants that come with their side salads. It was good - slightly sweet. I've never had a bad experience at cheddars. It's a good family restaurant. Like the ruins of some monument, it manages to still stand above some wreckage, but its uprightness is a miracle in its own right. While I can only speak to this location's quality, I get the feeling that Cheddar's in general are simply no place to be. Let me tell you why... Despite being seated in an empty bar area at 8:30pm on a Saturday night, the wait for our food was over an hour. We had a hard time tracking down our waitress, and when I asked if we could change the channel, they simply said they didn't know if they got the channel I requested (Fox, by the way). When I asked what beers they had on tap, I was told they had ONLY 2 BEERS on tap: Budweiser and Coors Light. But that's all just inconvenience - the kind of inconvenience you'd put up with if the food was worth it. Let me spare you the suspense - the food is not good. My dad ordered a cheeseburger, which they ONLY serve Medium Well. My dad asked if they could maybe cook it Medium, and we were told it really wasn't possible. What?! He ordered it anyway, asking only that they leave off the mustard. When the burger came, it was dripping with mustard. When he asked for the mayo that he ordered with the burger, we waited 15 minutes for our waitress to bring it. Although we didn't ask to speak to a manager, our waitress still sent one over. The manager was kind, apologized, removed the burger from our bill. Apparently, that the burger was served with mustard was the reason for the removal, not the fact that they literally refuse to cook anything other than medium well. Spare yourself. Listen to the other reviewers around here. If you're looking for a burger, try Atomic Grill south of Morgantown, Tailpipes downtown, or Five Guys at the Suncrest Towne Center. If you're looking for good food of any kind, look elsewhere. However, if you're looking for subpar fare and 2-hour waits, Cheddar's is your place. read more

I would not say that the food here is great. However, my kids love their chicken strips, so we go and endure mediocre food for a decent price. The service is ok. My biggest deterrent from going here would be the noise level in the restaurant. We have been here several times, both while nearly empty and packed. The noise level was very high in both scenarios. We waited around 15 minutes until the waiter called our names. The waiter was quite old but so energetic and welcoming. The restaurant menu was very neat and to the point. As any menu the appetizers, soup and salads, main courses, and desserts. The waiter gave us 10 minutes before she came and collect our order. We first got our beverages which are a diet coke and a very delicious lemonade with strawberry flavor. For appetizers we ordered the homemade chicken tortilla soup and the awesome Triple Treat Sampler which contains a combination of beef, bean, and cheese nachos plus your choice of two others: loaded potato skins, crispy chicken tenders or mozzarella sticks. In our case we ordered skins and sticks. we enjoyed every moment eating these great dishes. For the main course we ordered Lemon pepper chicken and baby back ribs and shrimps. Unfortunately the Lemon pepper was good not up to the standards and my medium well steak prepared well done. I asked the waiter to cancel the steak order and she did with great smile and apologies actually she gave me the shrimp and potato sides for free. After we got our drinks, it took awhile before she came back to take our order. Again, it was game day, so the restaurant was super slammed and busy the entire time we were there, so I'm sure she was just trying to survive the night! The food was ok. I got the philly cheese steak sandwich with fries. Not going to lie, was disappointed to see two slices of processed cheese just laying on top of the sandwich when my food came out. They weren't even melted. Lots of peppers, onion, and mushrooms, but they were too bland and pieces of steak were far and few between each bite. What used to be a great Morgantown restaraunt has turned into a trainwreck. In the last two times I've been there: 1. The entire party got food poisoning. We all ate different entrees, and did not share an entire appetizer, so multiple dishes had to have caused the issue. 2. After waiting 35 minutes to be seated, we waited over an hour for our food. After complaining to a manager that our easily prepared chicken entrees were still MIA, we received them in a less than pleasant fashion. Sides like coleslaw were actually hot from being under the heating lamps, while the chicken tenders and pasta were soggy and not even warm. I was just at this Cheddar's location yesterday and I'm definitely not coming back. I ordered the Monte Cristo sandwich, and I'll be honest, I must have missed the words "deep fried" in the description. But when it arrived everything looked delicious, until I took a bite. The sandwich was drenched in grease. Dripping. Oozing. I swear to you it was like I ordered some grease with a side of sandwich. To make things worse, the inside was still gooey, as if the batter wasn't fully cooked. So it was a greasy, doughy, mess of mayonnaise, turkey, and ham with what looked like Kraft singles american cheese product. It was sickeningly greasy.. The side of french fries, were okay. Definitely not as greasy as the sandwich. They weren't seasoned at all, which is unusual, but not exactly a deal-breaker. This was our first and last time at this restaurant. The waitress was pleasant; hence the one star rating, otherwise the experience deserved a zero. After ordering, we waited abut 40 minutes to get our meals even though the type of food we ordered didn't require much cooking time. Our meals were luke warm to cold. My chicken breast was so over cooked that I couldn't eat it and had to return it. I really thought a place called Cheddar's would do cheese related well, to my dismay the Mac and Cheese had no flavor and was watery. My husband got the creole pasta that again, had no flavor. 2 years ago this would have been 5 stars. But for the last couple of years, their chicken wrappers have gone down the drain. If you order a buffalo wrapper to go, the odds are officially less than 50% that you will get a good one. Chicken is typically dry, chewy, barely sauced. When they make this wrapper good, it's very good. But the odds of getting a good one are just horrible anymore. The inconsistency is frustrating and unacceptable, hence the 2 star score. Where's the sauce Checked out Cheddar's before a rowdy football game in West V. I liked the look of the place, very farm and comfy even in the bar area where I sat. I was straight to the point and wanted a burger with bbq and bacon on it. Like most places, they had what I desired so I ordered up. Food service seemed slow but it was pretty crowded. The burger was tasty and had flavor to it. The only problem was each bite was dry. I realized I was missing bbq sauce on it. Maybe that would have made the burger outstanding, but as such it was just ordinary. May give them a chance at redemption in the future though. read more

A 4 star rating for Cheddar's, but the rating has an interesting story behind it: We went here for the first time on Sunday at ~noon. We were told to wait for 10 minutes and were then seated. We all ordered what seemed to be very ordinary options (dijon chicken with mushroom x2, ribs, and a pecan salad). We waited and waited (for what I later learned to be 42 minutes!!), but the food never came...we also never received an explanation of why the food has been this late (our server apologized and refilled our drinks once, but the apology did not give any explanation as to why the food was late). Finally, we were able to get ahold of the manager who was passing by our table and she said that she is sorry and our food is on the house, which I thought was a very nice gesture! The food itself was pretty good, I would have taken pictures, but after such a long wait I was too hungry to do anything but eat. I did not try the rib, but the dijon chicken and pecan salad were both very good (not extraordinary, but pretty good). So, after all of this, we came out of the restaurant filling full and satisfied. Cheddar's is your typical chain restaurant, serving a variety of dishes ranging from steaks, to pasta dishes, to salads. It closely resembles Applebees in terms of pricing and atmosphere. A large group of us went for lunch on a Friday afternoon. I went with a half rack of hickory ribs and a cup of tortilla soup. The rubs were average, certainly edible, but nothing spectacular. I doubt they were really "smoked." The tortilla soup was tasty, but on the small side even for a cup. My wife had the buffalo chicken wrap: breaded buffalo tenders, cheese, a tangy sauce, rolled in a tomato tortilla. Again, not bad, but nothing to be excited about. On the plus side, the portions were more than enough. Almost everyone had a fair amount of food left. You certainly won't leave hungry. Cheddar's isn't bad, but don't expect to be wowed by the experience. read more

We had a late lunch there yesterday. This is the first time I have been to Cheddars in Morgantown, West Virginia. Our waitress, Jasmin, was so warm and attentive, but not too attentive. She brought extra drinks without us having to ask and all on the house. She even offered to give us to-go cups of beverages for the road. I was truly pleased with her service. The food was also good, but a little too salty for me personally. I had grilled fish tacos that had an awesome tartar sauce that had a dill flavor. And Cheddar's homemade coleslaw was Spot On and delicious. I would buy a gallon of that, if I could, and take it home and I am very picky about cole slaw. My bf had the outrageous Monty Cristo, an incredibly unhealthy, but delicious, deep-fried sandwich with fries. The sandwich comes with an amazing raspberry jam for dipping. We sat in the main dining room and I had a great view of the large and lovely fish tank that takes up a wall of space. The main dining room also features a cool, Southern-looking ceiling fan that evokes times gone by, bamboo, and the tropics, all at once. Visually, the interior is stunning. Even the ladies room is lined with slate tile and features marble counters. Yes, I noticed the bathroom features, so sue me. ;-) We also had chips and salsa and our total tab was about $20. I thought this was a great price for the quality of food, service, and atmosphere at Cheddar's. I will definitely go back to Cheddars in Morgantown, WV. read more

One of my favorite places in Morgantown. So many great memories here; birthdays, anniversaries, and just drinki it up days because we just needed a drink to relax from classes.
