Cheeseburger in paradise gets the job done. We avoid these kinds of chains, especially when traveling, but we're needing a bite, so we stopped in. The service was great and we were well taken care of. They do have a nice beer menu. We ordered burgers (of course!) and they were OK, as expected. Any port in a storm. read more

Very rude female hostesses. Never in my life have been treated so horribly walking up to a resturaunt host booth without even saying a thing. This ladies were looking me up and down with nasty faces and asked me to put a shirt on after we heard the male hostess say that girls wear bikinis in there all the time. It is right across from the beach and we just left the beach to get a quick drink. Horrible service. read more

This place was actually a great choice for breakfast. It didn't have a huge selection but it was a decent variety. We had a strawberry smoothie and the Loco Moco. It was my first time having Loco Moco and it hit my savory appetite just right. If you want a great salty savory breakfast, that is perfect. The fifth star on my review was for Noah, our server. He did a fantastic job. The really great thing about this place is really the open windows that have a full view of the beach and ocean across the street. read more

Pleased with my experience, nothing to write home about but everything we got was still delicious. They had a small dress code requiring tops and bottoms. Which is fair, but we just came from the beach and were starving so it was a slight inconvenience but we were understanding and left to change before coming back. I got the steakhouse burger and it was a solid burger, for the establishment to be called burger in paradise, maybe I expected it to blow my mind. The loco moco was pretty good as well, the gravy is usually what makes or breaks a loco moco and this one was decent. I've had better of both in other places but it wasn't bad for a quick bite. read more

Visited CBP after a long day, unfortunately, that long day consisted of service that was not so good at different hotels. Thankfully, CBP's amazing staff turned that day around for us. Stopped here for early dinner while on vacation in Hawaii. Service is fast and the atmosphere is like any other sports bar/burger place. It's loud. Televisions all around with football games on. Good tastes good but the portions are pretty small for the money. read more

Second time stopping by this restaurant. First time we went, we sat at the bar and only had some drinks, nothing to complain about. The bartender was kind and the drinks were good! This time, we decided to try out their food. Big mistake. Ordered the most simple item on the menu, the "cheeseburger in paradise". Server confirmed that the burger would be made medium which is great. However, the burger I was served was basically raw. Our amazing server agreed the second he saw it. He took it back and had it remade. This time, the burger was not medium but well done and the bottom bun was extremely soggy. Like I could spread/break it with my finger. Also, there were like 15 fries that came with the burger. Underwhelming at best. The servers were all very kind including the bartender. I felt bad complaining about the burger but it was pretty terrible. Especially considering the name of the restaurant is literally cheeseburger in paradise. Messing up something as simple as a cheeseburger is almost impressive. (The ketchup was also very watery and not good) Ambiance is fine. It's right across the street from the beach but it was pretty warm considering they relied on fans and the breeze. Overall, I don't think I'd come back. Maybe for a drink and the amazing servers, but never again for the food! read more

Went for happy hour and everything is amazing. The pina colada is refreshing, you can taste the pineapple. The onion rings and the burger is very tasty . Service is fast and waitress is very attentive. Ambiance is great for date and groups. Shoutout to our waitress, left my hat and the next day I was able to retrieve it. read more

On vacation with my family, hubby, and I stopped here for a late lunch. We were greeted by a very friendly host and seated inside a dining room with open air windows, great to enjoy the Waikiki scenes of people walking by. We passed by this place once while walking back to our hotel and noticed their advertisement for their breakfast special. We went here to save a bit of money on breakfast for a family of 4 and it didn't disappoint. For $10, you get a coffee or soft drink, eggs, toast, and hash browns. The service was quick and our waitress was really kind. We got a table by the window which was nice, but overall the place was nice. Would definitely recommend read more

Okay we're here 10 days. We've loved the Hawaiian treats including great Asian and fish dishes. Needed a burger. Went here two nights in a row. Brina and Morgan our servers were super nice and friendly, the beer was cold (tried a couple locals!) and the food was really tasty. They're really busy but HUSTLE. It's a fun spot across the street from the beach, and they play the best music. Great to take a little change of course. Think you'll like it. read more

I have been to this place on multiple occasions for there delicious food and sports games. Taken friends, people from out of town. My girlfriend and I came in today, we were served by Lauren. To be honest Lauren gave us the worst service I have ever had. My girlfriend is celiac and when we asked if the food was cross contaminated she responded with "I have celiac but I'm 26 and don't care about cross contamination". This is important to pay attention too because my girlfriend could be very sick for days. Very disrespectful and made us feel very unwelcome and unsafe. Lauren is the only reason I may question if I want to come back. This place a great place to eat and drink with the exception of Lauren's service. read more

This place is always busy every time we go past. They have a breakfast special right now - which is eggs; home fries and toast for $10 and there also doing an October fest special for the rest of the day. My other half ordered the breakfast special and enjoyed it. I ordered the breakfast burger and home fries ( this girl needed some meat); that egg broke just right and down the burger; which created this nice combination. What's to complain? Walking up and down the street, it can be hard to get a table anywhere. I came in solo, and they were able to seat me right away by the bar The waiter came over, took my order, and my food was out fast. Like super fast. That made me worry at first - but it was fine. I got the original cheeseburger in paradise, added an over easy egg and some onion rings. It was very messy and hard to eat, and needed salt on the egg and on the patty itself. The egg and burger were cooked exactly how I ordered it. The patty was on the thicker side, and I'm more of a smash burger guy. Overall it was fine. No major complaints. Considering other prices nearby, the value for money was good. read more

Food We ordered two cheese burgers and two hawaiian burgers. All of them were so greasy and saucey. Nobody could finish the over priced burgers and walked out with growling stomach. The burgers stayed inside the stomach for a while and we end up skipping dinner. Service It was fairly okay considering the amount of people on Christmas Day lunch time. Sadly I was not familiar with the song "Cheeseburger in Paradise" by Jimmy Buffet until my in-laws informed me. It was their first time back in Hawaii in years, and apparently they had eaten here during their honeymoon. A few decades later... it was still around so we ate here for the nostalgia factor. LOGISTICS Located on the main drag in Downtown Waikiki, it's on the corner of a street and across from the famous Waikiki beach. Unfortunately by around sunset they start putting the shades down to block out the sun from diners, so you can't really see the view from the restaurant. However it makes it a nice way to kill time while waiting for food (assuming someone from your party stays behind). According to my in-laws that place hasn't changed much in terms of layout. Even the colors and decorations felt a little dated, so definitely an old school island vibes here. Servers are friendly in their Hawaiian shirts, and it was amusing to watch them interact with the international crowd. Service is a little slow when they get busy (it took awhile to get our order in), but such is the island life. Oh the mural near the restroom was also a lovely touch. FOOD Island Style Cheeseburger: If I'm going to get a cheeseburger in Hawaii, I might as well go for the one with a grilled pineapple. This burger had the usual fixings of lettuce + tomato, but also included a teriyaki grilled pineapple + avocado + Colby jack cheese + green onion. The mention of green onion is laughable as there is just a few pieces on the cheese. Burger itself is quite dry despite asking it to be cooked medium rare, but the pineapple saved it by adding a bit of sweetness and juiciness. Lack of flavor/salt in the burger was also saved by the fact the teriyaki glaze on the pineapple carried the burger. Avocado on the burger, like the green onion, didn't really add much as there wasn't a lot on there to notice its existence. Fries were OK... they reminded me of the steak fries from Red Robin, but a little more crispy. OVERALL For the price, there are definitely better burgers out there that are cheaper and not as touristy. I knew this place was a little bit of a tourist trap, so I expected to pay the tourist price of $20 for a cheeseburger and fries. Don't get me wrong - it's a decent burger for what it is. A cheeseburger with a teriyaki grilled pineapple. You can't beat the view across the street, the old-school island vibe, and the fact it's a "safe" option for dining. But there are better places to eat in Hawaii, especially in the area, so come here if you're looking for the nostalgia factor or to satisfy one's curiosity. Again, there are better places to eat... but this place does appeal to a certain crowd. read more

Terrible Service from start! When we walked up the host didn't greet us! Our server: The only thing that came out fast from him was the bill!! Didn't tell us it was happy hour Didn't ask how we wanted out burgers cooked Didn't ask me how I wanted my egg on my burger cooked The server behind us offered everything to the people she was waiting on! Our Wings came out after food which was the appetizer!! He Didn't come to check on us Didn't bring us napkins or enough sauce for wings Didn't bring more water for refills We asked for a Togo box for our chicken wings 3 times and he still did not bring it . I did not feel the server deserved a tip and I'm not that person, I love great customer service!! Overall this was probably the worst place we ate at in Honolulu. food: My husband and I shared the teriyaki chicken wings, which were just dripping with sauce. The sauce was good, but there was about twice as much as I would've liked. Maybe asking for it on the side, or light sauce would've been wise. We also shared the chicken bacon ranch salad, which was also good, but nothing to write home about if you're visiting Waikiki. Of course, since the place is called Cheeseburger in Paradise, perhaps it would've been smarter to just have the burger! Now, I am going to say that considering how packed the restaurant was, I'm fairly impressed that the quality of food met the basic standards - the cooks must've been dying back there in the kitchen, 'cause when we got to the restaurant it was packed with a 20-30 minute wait list. service: Our waitress did pretty well although I'm sure she was taking care of far too many tables for her to be efficient. There were a couple of requests for napkins and drink refills that took a few tries to get fulfilled. In spite of the crowd and needing to turn tables over quickly, we had to wait quite a while for our check too. ambiance: It's loud and crowded. If you're looking for a quick table and the opportunity to chat with friends or family over dinner, this probably isn't the best place to dine. read more

I went to this restaurant for their breakfast special. The so-called eggs tasted different and I when I asked whether the eggs were fresh was told they were pre-packaged. I was also told that only people who order the special got prepackaged eggs those who paid more got fresh ones. I was shocked to learn this and disgusted because I try not to eat any packaged foods. One of the servers there provided a great recommendation with a wine pairing for the carbonara and let me try a rose before committing. I've been here three times. I'm giving a generous two stars, because the first time I went I sat at the bar and had a drink and it was good. About two years later (months ago) I stopped in with my boyfriend. We ordered chips and salsa. It was disgusting. You would think they would make their own salsa if they were going to serve it but it was obviously store bought. For our meal my boyfriend got a burger and I ordered calamari. My calamari was awful! It tasted frost bitten. It was disgusting. My boyfriends burger was brought to him over cooked with no bun. Service was ok. We sat in the bar area. So for the price of the food we got I would have rather gone to fast food! So six months later (day before yesterday) we decided we'd give it another try. Hoping if we ordered something different we'd be happy. We walked in we asked to sit in the bar tables. The hosts said to just sit anywhere so we sat down. I waited a couple minutes and went to the restroom. When I came back about five minutes later no one had come over to help my boyfriend. No menus no drinks. Nothing. We sat another five or so minutes then I decided to go up and let the hosts know that no one had come over. They said they would go let the server know. We sat another five or so minutes. Finally, a girl walks past us. She didn't stop, as she was walking she asked us to take out our IDs. No, menus, no water, no "hello I'm sorry for the wait I'll be right with you" , just a rude "take out your ids". We ended up walking out letting the manger know who was standing upfront at the time. I was pleasantly surprised by the fish tacos I enjoyed that night. I'm not someone who regularly orders fish, but our server, Kiley, recommended it as her favorite dish, so I decided to give it a try. She suggested getting it blackened with Cajun seasoning. I always love asking servers what their favorite dishes are because they're the ones who really know the menu, and let's be honest, they probably eat this food more than the guests do. When I tell you I devoured those fish tacos, I'm not kidding. I shared one taco with my partner and ate the other two myself. It was super filling, especially with a side of chips. I also ordered seasoned fries, which, by the way, were hot, crispy, and fresh which is exactly how I like them. I hate when fries are soggy. The only downside of the night was that I wasn't told how much each shot would be. I always appreciate when servers are upfront about pricing. Each shot ended up being $15, so I spent $45 on three shots which was more than the cost of my actual meal. Lesson learned, and I'll take that with a grain of salt. My companions loved their food too. My partner got the double cheeseburger, and my best friend ordered the loco moco. It was a nice change of scenery for us, especially since we were able to walk around Waikiki Beach after dinner. We also sat outdoors, which added to the vibe. This was genuinely one of the best experiences I've had at a restaurant. The island style burger was incredible! Every bite was super juicy and the pineapple, avocado, tomato, and teriyaki sauce created a new flavor for me that worked wonderfully on a burger. They send the burger out open face as well so I got to see all the ingredients. Everything looked and tasted as fresh as possible (which I know can be especially hard when working with avocado). Although it was very pricey for just one burger ($18) it was well worth it. Furthermore, our server Kristy was the best server I've had at any restaurant in my life. She got our waters quickly after we sat down and gave us a genuine, friendly welcome! I had some questions about the menu and she answered them with 100% honesty. And though we weren't ready to order then, she came back at a perfect time to take our orders. The food came out and she made sure that everything was perfect periodically throughout the meal. She also made sure we never ran out of water, and even gave my friend a new glass of water because there was too much ice in his original glass. Excited to see them back open again. All the staff members seam to be really happy to be back at work and every one of them that I came in contact with was so nice. For the breakfast I had the Gringrito, I don't eat meat but they were happy to leave it out for me and add avocado. It's kinda like a cross between a burrito and a quesadilla. It was really tasty! I also came for late lunch a few days later and ordered the fish tacos, coconut shrimp, and a side of fries. Wow those air fried fish tacos are so good. There's not really much to them but I like that. Some places go overboard but these are simple and the pineapple and arugula pairs really well. Fries are nice and crispy too. The pina coladas were only 5 for happy hour so that's cool. I ordered a double. I've heard good things about the Cheeseburgers, but I don't eat red meat so I wasn't able to try them. The coconut shrimp are nice and crunchy, then you get the sweetness from the coconut and a hint of spicy chili from the sauce. Highly recommend. Well it will become apparent that I can not speak for the food, but after it came out that this establishment would let an employee go after a 3-star yelp review which personally attacked this person, I feel I must put in my two cents about that sort of rash behavior. Clearly putting dollars over people, this is the sort of business management that is ruining the industry. My industry. We all saw Waiting and laughed at the absurdity, but one thing that movie had unfortunately right was the way staff can be treated, and this is a problem. I feel for the employee who lost their job. I feel for the other employees who will be negatively affected by the public outcry caused by their own management's mishandling of a misguided, self important yelper's review. I do not feel for the management that made the decision to let them go for this, or any one of the dozens of 1-star reviews their restaurant will receive. By their own logic, each one should cost the job of somebody in charge. Shame. read more

Firing a single mom who has other extremely positive reviews just before the holidays? I refuse to give my money to such a heartless business, and I encourage anyone with a heart to take their patronage elsewhere. Employers that don't care about or listen to their employees don't deserve to be in business. These reviews are useful, but you have to take them with a grain of salt. Actually came in to get some burger to go. The bartender was not busy but in was obvious he had several other things he would rather have been doing then ring me up for my to-go food. When I walked up to the bar I saw the bag of to-go burgers sitting on the bar top. I told the bartender I was here to pick up my food and he said it would be a few minutes so I assumed the food on the counter was for somebody else. Then he took his time ringing me up, stood around, wiped down the counters, made several other drinks for the wait staff and then grabbed the bag of food that had been sitting there and handed it me after making me wait for it. However, after having to abandon our original dinner plans, we were no less intrigued after randomly stumbling across this place. While they may not have been our first choice for dinner, coming here was far more appealing than eating fast food or at the nearby IHOP! Although seeing so many folks at this mini food truck park may have been what caught our attention, it was the boxes of fried chicken on nearly every table that swayed us to try Waikiki Chicken in Paradise in particular. After skimming the menu, it wasn't hard to see why they were such a popular choice - everything on it sounded great. Granted, that's not overly difficult when there are only eight items to choose from, but tough to argue with the likes of fried chicken loco moco, fried chicken curry rice, fried chicken sandwiches, chicken & croffle, and fish & chips! Since we saw how big the portion were and didn't want anything too heavy (read: sadly, no loco moco or Japanese curry), we opted to split a FRIED CHICKEN RICE PLATE ($16.95) which came with a Fried Chicken Cutlet over White Rice with Mac Salad & Green Salad. Funny enough, despite already having a sense of how much food they give, I was still surprised by the generous portion size. As for how it all tasted, this was great. The breading on the chicken reminded me of Popeye's (though, without the spice), the batter was crispy, and the chicken itself was rather moist. As for the sides, the mac salad was pretty good, but the salad was a little heavy on dressing. If there was one thing I could change about our order, I think I'd want to see how it would taste with a sauce or glaze. At the very least, I'd definitely go with a different dipping sauce, like their Pineapple Ginger, Lilikoi Mayo, or Guava BBQ, as the Honey Mustard we went with tasted a bit generic. Of course, we could've solved both problems if we had gone with the Fried Chicken Loco Moco or Fried Chicken Curry Rice instead! I guess I'll just have to wait until the next time I'm in Waikiki!
