There was nothing horrible about my experience but it was lackluster and blah. The restaurant for starters smells odd - kind of like an old, wooden ship meets pickle juice and urine. He's working today so I decided just to pop in myself. Go for a cocktail to say you've been there...done that. My opinion, skip the cheeseburger...skip the food in general. The burger wasn't bad, but it was not that good and definitely not great. It was dry, thin but not smash burger thin, and cooked to well done. Honestly, it looked and tasted as if it was a frozen patty (sorry Jimmy B!). Burger was served on a brioche bun with Mayo on top and bottom, two sliced of red onion and 2 slices of not so good tomatoes, and a Colby Jack. Lettuce was on the bottom. Fries were on the side...they were crispy and ok. Their menu says that they cook all of the burgers to medium, which I agreed to. This one was definitely well done and quite dry. Bummer. Where's the Heinz 57 and the kosher pickle? For a place that's called cheeseburger in paradise, they definitely need to "bring it" but just didn't. If you're going to be a cheeseburger, Jimmy B, tourist Mecca, give the tourists 100%. I am a light eater so portion was fine, but if my husband had been with me and ordered this burger, he would've had to order a second. The fries on the side were not ample, but rather more of a kids meal portion. All in all, it's a no go. The cocktail was on point! All in all, I'm in Hawaii, so how much can I really gripe about? Popped in on a Saturday night after some beach time. Place was packed and had a wait. Luckily, we were able to sit in the bar, right along the sidewalk. Ordered the local beer sampler, mostly to explore the local options. The dragon fruit lemonade was my fave, but definitely drink it while it's cold. Flavor starts to fade as it warms up. Poke nachos were really tasty and the highlight of the meal! Was surprised that the tuna here was so fresh?! Laren and Edna's burger wasn't so great, sadly. Kinda bland, nothing spectacular. First, it's in Waikiki so you should already kind of have the expectations of high prices, mediocre service and food. This was my second time coming here and I love on island. So for what that's worth, it should say something. Not taking the price into account b/c it's Waikiki, their burgers are actually really good. They were cold and hard but the last thing I was going to do is send them back or complain b/c I've watched too many movies that always have me in fear of doing this due to the potential outcome related to your "new" food and it was just the fries that were crap b/c the burger was nice and that was what I was really paying the $20+ for. I am a beer drinker, especially when it come to eating a burger so I did like that they offer a variety of pour sizes. I liked this b/c it gave me the ability to have a little beer with my burger and they offer 10.5 oz pours. Although my 10.5 oz beer was $6.50, like I said, i got to have some beer with my burger and i wasn't forced to but a whole pint or crazy brewtus. That helped keep my bill more realistic for me. They have a decent size bar with hella TVs and plenty of seating around the whole place, so another plus. Their service is really good too. They are nice, friendly and attentive. Helps with the Waikiki pricing imo. They have a bathroom too lol something not as easy as it sounds to find in the area. Very good food and super quick service! I've been to a Cheeseburger In Paradise years ago when my family visited Maui but now I can appreciate it more now that I'm older. It's a typical burger joint but they really lean into the Hawaiian culture and cuisine, which makes for a super fun and energetic atmosphere! The staff there were also very friendly and helpful - my wife is Dairy free and her burger accidentally came with cheese on it but our server and the kitchen had a new one out within 5 minutes! Today was International Beer day so I treated myself to a 20oz IPA however, I was super tempted to get one of their many delicious-looking cocktails! So, you do get to eat a cheeseburger....and you are right by the beach, but.... It's not a life changing, OMG kinda burger joint. Pros- Wana, our server was great! Witty, helpful, and a wicked memory! She repeated our orders to us (nothing written down!), went to a few more tables.... And each order, which had some type of modification or additional item was done correctly for the most part (see cons on food....) Pros- we were seated in a decent amount of time, probably within 15 minutes on a Sunday night....other spots we went to were a minimum of 45 minutes to an hour! Pros- they add whipping cream to their smoothies, which my son thought was a nice surprise! Pros- the location, just across the street from Waikiki Beach! Cons- the waitlist system is weird. You have to put your name down plus wait in line! They also don't ask your name, so if someone cuts, which several parties, including mine felt a guy did.... Those who follow their funky system can get screwed! I pointed it out to the guy, he said he'd put his name down a while ago, but no one believed him (especially my 16yo!) Cons- the food was adequate. Fries were the best part of the meal.... My burger was the only one cooked to the requested temperature. I asked for medium and it was pink. We really only visit this restaurant once a year when my in laws are in town visiting as my father in law likes this place, tho im not exactly sure why. The menu also apparently changes as often as we frequent this place. This year my daughter was napping and so we opted to do a phone order for once. Apparently the menu on their website is not up to date as they no longer offer fried pickles....im curious as to whether they have pickles at all as none of our burgers came with them on the burger itself or on the side. The strangest thing of all is that they have completely omitted their kids meal from the online menu. They have one, as we confirmed it on the phone, but its just not listed on the website for whatever reason. The kids burgers are just 2 plain cheeseburger sliders I think they also offerered grilled cheese and a chicken option? I forget. The burgers we got were fine, nothing spectacular or worth writing about really...just ok. It says a lot when the best part of the meal were the cold onion rings I had. And for a $20 burger + $4 to upgrade to onion rings, you'd expect better, but it is Waikiki, so you're paying that tourist premium...tho you really shouldn't be...not for this. I understand that we dont get the freshest food to review as we're walking it back to the hotel, but it was literally a block away yet everyone's fries (and my aforementioned onion rings) were nearly ice cold. My onion rings were at least still crisp. Eveyones fries were super soggy and gross. Id be happy to never have to go back again, but I'm sure we'll be back next year when the in laws are in town. When we saw the breakfast menu, we definitely had to try this place because they had pancakes and Loco Moco. I always like to try hashbrowns at every breakfast place and theirs were well seasoned with salt, nice and crunchy on the outside, and not oily. My son had the Loco Moco, because he needs to try that at every restaurant in which they have it on the menu. He says it was pretty good. The egg wasn't overdone and burger patties were generous in size, his only complaint was that he could've used more rice. I'm always craving pancakes for breakfast to accompany scrambled eggs and sausage. Their pancakes were good, not too huge in size, but average in flavor and a little on the dense side. My son ordered the mango breakfast smoothie, which came looking like a cute Mocktail. I had coffee and appreciated the many too-ups. Overall, it was a good breakfast experience. If you're lucky and get seating next to the windows, Cheeseburger in Paradise offers pretty standard fare with a lovely view of the beach. We were helped pretty quickly, but there was a surprisingly long wait (~25 minutes) between ordering our entrees and getting our food for a place serving mainly burgers and fries. For reasonably (and understandably) inflated touristy prices, you get pretty decent portion sizes - think of it as paying for the view more than anything, and you're good. Fries were pretty good as far as burger restaurant fries are concerned. With all its different burger offerings, the restaurant has a burger for everyone. I did not expect the Island Style burger to be as sweet as it was, but that may be my illiteracy showing. This place is our absolute favorite place to go to for drinks and apps!! It's so chill and fun vibes, we were in hawaii with a group of 9 for 12 days and probably came here at least 10 of the 12. You absolutely have to try the pina colada ($7 at happy hour) they are AMAZING! We also love the coconut shrimp & poke nachos as well!
