Our food was brought out by one of the male managers, we had the same thing with a slight variation. He described the plates he was placing to make sure it was placed correctly, then just walked off, no "enjoy your meal", or any message of that sort, pretty sure his wait staff are required to do so. We both ordered Chimi's, one was simple chicken, the other was with grilled chicken. When I got the bill, I noticed there was a charge for the grilled chicken. I am appalled, since it is all "Fresh" ingredients, then the shredded chicken would have started out as grilled chicken (cooked to be able to shred it). therefore there should not be an up-charge for this. Since there is an up-charge, this indicates to me that the shredded chicken comes from a can, and is therefore cheaper, hence the up-charge for the grilled, not very "FRESH" now is it. I know the last time I was at Chevy's there was not bacon in the refried beans, I used to eat their beans, can't stand bacon. I know it is the fad for all of the restaurants to follow and put bacon in everything, but sometimes you need to leave well enough alone. Take the bacon out, or give those of us that don't like bacon the option to not have it in the beans. Overall very disappointed with this visit. read more

I thought the food was fairly bland. Maybe it's because I've been spoiled by the Mexican food in AZ. I ordered a combo plate with enchiladas and a taco. They didn't have machaca beef so it was disappointing. I had to add salsa to everything to pepper it up a bit. Typical Midwest Mexican. What was strange was the floor was very slippery. Not a great experience today. Server was excellent, but food was terrible. Chile relleno had to much breading, like a pepper baked inside a cake. The cheese was cold on the inside. Queso dip looks and taste like Velveeta cheese. Salsa, I believe is made with roasted tomatoes and looks off, but taste alright just didn't give the restaurant salsa fix you crave from a Mexican restaurant. Won't be back. read more

When they first opened several years ago, it was better than most places I've experience in Dallas, Tx. Over the years, however, the food quality has just gone down hill. I had the plate with many different enchiladas and it was so uninspiring that I couldn't finish it. Won't be back if it's my choice but I'll go if it's up to someone else. read more

After living and traveling often in New Mexico, Arizona, California, and Texas, we have had a good variety of Mexican, Spanish, and TexMex food. This restaurant is definitely not authentic or tasty. Sort of bland and very unappealing. I got a chicken and a beef taco, a chicken enchilada, rice and refried beans. The spices on the chicken are very strange and not tasty. The rice was okay and the beans were icky. Didn't bother looking at dessert. Chips and salsa were okay and definitely better than the main meal. read more

Had lunch here yesterday 3/30/12. Had the one of the combo platters. All I can say is that a hungry man tv dinner has more flavor. And who in their right mind microwaves deep fried food? Ended up being a pepper with lukewarm cheese inside wrapped in a very oil soaked mush. On a brighter note the server I had was one of the best. I have eaten at this place twice and was disappointed both times. The service was good but the food is just plain bad. I am guessing that there is a shortage of guacamole and sour cream. Not often do I write anything negative about a dining experience, however, the way the manager and host staff treated us was outrageous! We were given conflicting information about their call ahead policy for a busy Sunday brunch. My sister in law called ahead during the week to speak to a manager about said policy. She was told they would accept call aheads and and was instructed by a manger to do so right after church to get our name on the list. She did just that and was told that they actually DO NOT accept call aheads. When we got to the restaurant the host was absolutely absurd! He was so rude and treated his co-worker so poorly right in front of us. The manager was extremely unprofessional. Service was excellent our waitress was personable and very efficient at her job. Food was served luke warm on cold plates so before we could start to eat our entire meal was cold. Manager at location was outstanding and did the right thing. Based in this I would probably try this restaurant again in the future. What I can say about my visit to chevy's is that I like the free chips and salsa they where really good liked them a lot. I can't say much about the meal that I had. I had the mixed grill and it was plain it had no flavor all the meat that was in the mixed grill it was all the same flavor bland!!! read more

Im not giving a good rating and here is why. The last two times I was in this resturant I had problems. Well, actually the last 3. I like the food it is good and Ive no complaints. But being asked 15 times durring the course of the meal how is everything hows that first bite going down hows the meal going hows everything hows your drink hows this hows that. And being rudely interupted from my conversation in order to do so was a major pain in the butt. And secondly I leave a tip depending on what I feel is deserved...Its normally a pretty good tip. Tonight I was there with my girlfriend we had a nice meal I left 4.50 tip It was not quite 15% but close enough....When I got home and checked my credit card I had been charged an extra 59 cents....Not on my receipt. The server took it apon herself to raise my tip to 15% wich is exactly what the tip would have been if you added .59 to it. Where as I do not necessarily begrudge 59 cents I feel that 59 cents was stolen from me and inted to do everything in my power to expose the server and the resturant. That 59 cents could have caused my account to bounce and could have cost me $60.00 or more in fees. I feel this action was a theft and am looking into prosecuiting the server involved. I loved the food but the service has to improve...I do not intend to ever eat there again. read more

I've been coming to Chevy's since before it was Chevy's. As a frequent customer, I've seen the ups and downs of their service. What was once a substantial bowl of queso full of the sort of flavors you know are going to make you fat, there is now a small and rather wimpy bowl that could barely be considered an appetizer for an average family of four. The worst part? The price hasn't changed. The trend continues with their chips and salsa. The chip bowls are smaller, the chips are no longer freshly made, and the salsa has become a lackluster version of its previous self. However, they have made up for it in one area. That area, my friend, is the unlimited enchilada night. In that stunning night, this restaurant shines. Unlimited enchiladas for $10.50 is something America can get behind. I myself have, with no lack of effort to stuff my face to the point of hatred as Louis C.K. puts it. What they lack in other areas, enchiladas make up. As a small guy who goes to the gym way more frequently than is considered "normal," unlimited enchiladas give me the hope that one day I will not be so tiny any longer. Unlimited enchiladas are a metaphor for everything that makes America great. So I'm going to keep eating until I hate myself, as long as I can keep gaining muscle, and Chevy's Fresh Mex will likely continue to be a regular stop as long as enchiladas are on the menu. read more
