Look how CUTESY this place is?! It felt like a mini Pop Mart store with all the adorable decor & collectibles! My friend even got me a blind box to open The milk puddings were so yummy & filling! Soft, silky, and almost tofu-like texture. They literally melted in your mouth. I got the taro one, which had pieces of yam & other toppings that really brought the dessert together. My friend got the mango milk pudding, which had little bits of sago & pomelo that made it light & refreshing. We also tried the Peach Princess, smelled just like peach candy! Such a refreshing dessert for a hot day. My friend absolutely loved the mango drink too. Such a fun little dessert spot, delicious treats & cute vibes all around!
Was recommended to this cute place by a friend! Right outside of John Wayne, there's this tucked away plaza with a bunch of food places, and Chewie and Mallow was right inside. The cafe itself has you order at the front, and there is a small, but cutely decorated seating area that leads down a hallway. (No bathrooms by the way, so you will have to go elsewhere if looking for that). I saw that they had a promo for a free milk pudding, and I tried to register for an account, and my friends and I ordered enough to make the cutoff, but then the guy at the register said that the account had to be another day old before I could use that promo sadly. We ordered the strawberry milk mochi, the mango tango, and the mango pomelo sago milk. All of these were delicious, and I really liked the smoothness of the mochi in my strawberry drink compared to 3cat's mochi. Drinks came out decently fast, and overall good service. Would come again next time I drop by the airport!
My favorite place for hongkong style milk pudding. Locates in a big plaza with plenty of parking. Both of the Mango & Mango Pomelo Sago (杨枝甘露) Milk Pudding is very tasty, it balances between the sweetness, creaminess of the pudding and the tartness of the topping. Will return to try their bowl.
Came here on a mission for the Coconut Revolution... and yeah, it revolted by not being on the menu . Audible called and landed on the seasonal watermelon coconut--and honestly, no regrets. This place hits that perfect "treat yourself" lane. The drink was super refreshing, nicely sweet, and loaded with that fun chewy texture that makes you feel like you're eating and drinking at the same time. You can customize sugar and ingredients, but I rolled with the standard and it was dialed in just right. On a hot Irvine day, this was exactly what I needed...a little pep in the step, a little sugar happiness, and a solid excuse to slow down for 10 minutes. Located in one of those busy Michelson shopping centers where parking feels like a competitive sport, but worth the effort once you've got a cup in hand. Bottom line for me: fun spot, great flavors, and a solid mood booster when life (or traffic) starts testing you.
First time here with friends and went on a weekday evening. There's indoor seating as well. I love how they sell blind boxes, their whole wall of their collections available to buy. There's also a lot up backdrops for pics. The service was great, kind and friendly. You can order at 2-3 kiosk or on the counter with an employee. I've only ordered the mango pomelo sago pudding; not too sweet and it comes in a small cup which was plentiful for a person. I'd come back here if I'm in the area to try their drinks since my friends enjoyed theirs.
So delicious!! This is the cutest dessert shop. Lots of cute trinkets and stuffies on the walls. They have a good selection of drinks, dessert bowls and Hong Kong pudding. I love their white peach Hong Kong pudding. The pudding is not too sweet - just perfect. The toppings for the white peach one is so fun. It's like little pieces of peach in a ball. It's super refreshing. The desserts come out pretty fast after you order on the kiosk. Be sure to sign up for their rewards program! As a welcome gift, there are many discounts including free pudding when you spend $15.
Great drinks and cute decor! Tried the taro and strawberry cloud mochi drinks which were very good. Also had the fresh mango milk pudding and it was very good and very refreshing, especially for a warm night. The service was quick and the worker was friendly and helpful. Would definitely come back here again! They definitely deserve more business.
Just happened to be at the center and stumbled across this cute fun place! The sign out front caught my eye, so I decided to try one. Then, decided to get two. (Hahah!) When the guy saw I spent over $15, he told me I get an ADDITIONAL one for free!! OMGGG... So here I am with 3 perishable items all to myself. Thinking back, I should have given one to a passerby, but I just thought of that right now. I would have really made someone's day! They were all delicious. I was actually able to just take a taste of all three and they made it home to save for later. My favorite being the Korean milk pudding. The toppings that came on the White Peach flavor was similar to popping boba, but even more fun and crunchy! The pudding reminded me of Melo Melo. Very refreshing and not too sweet. - Mochi Matcha Bowl - White Peach Milk Pudding - Mango Coconut Mochi Drink I was able to get the Mango Coconut Mochi Drink with ZERO SUGAR!! Guilt free and still amazing! Win-Win-Win!
Need a cute Asian dessert date? Chewie & Mellow is probably one of the cutest and most Instagrammable dessert spots in OC. Chewie & Mellow is a cute Chinese dessert shop located in a nice plaza in Irvine. They serve drinks, dessert bowls, and Hong Kong milk pudding. We ordered a Pandan Bliss Bowl and a Strawberry Milk Mochi. Absolutely loved both, not too sweet at all, the flavors were on point, and the dessert comes packaged super conveniently for takeout. There's some tables off to the side of the shop, good for sitting for a short duration but not the best for large groups. Also adored the cute displays they had going on here. Highly recommend giving this place a shot!
This was a cute little shop to visit with refreshing desserts! The person taking it order didn't go too in depth about their menu, but then again we didn't ask too much. So not much to complain shot. My parents really enjoyed their drinks, and my dessert was good, but I'm not sure I'd order it again. I'd love to give other menu items a shot! Especially with such cute decorations and refreshing food items for hot days like when I visited.
Dessert time is the sweetest hour of the day! I haven't stepped foot inside yet because I opted for delivery instead. If you go to the TRADE shopping plaza often, you already know the parking situation can get crazy at peak hours and I'd rather just not deal with it. Don't need that stress in my life. But If you are visiting, bless your soul, they are located near Michelson and Von Karmen. Between HiroNori and Thai Body Works, where Yomie Yogurt used to be. From the videos I've seen here, the interior is very photo-op friendly and you'll definitely get your social media pics. They sell these dessert bowls that come with different ingredients like puddings, jellies, red bean, sago, fruits, milk, taro balls, and more. You can also get Hong Kong style steamed milk pudding, creamy drinks, mochi (?) drinks, tofu (??) drinks, herbal drinks, and juices. Pretty interesting menu. My order came in a sturdy to-go bag that is both reusable and insulated. Their bear and bunny mascots are prominently displayed. I got the Oreo Chocolate, which is a creamy drink with sago. The consistency was thicker than milk but more runny compared to a milkshake. I added boba, which was chewy and added additional texture. If you like pudding, sago, and mochi, this place is for you! They have dessert bowls, milk pudding, mochi drinks, and other drinks too. I highly recommend the strawberry mochi drink at 100% sweetness level. You get the strawberry pieces with a smooth, melt-in-your mouth mochi. OVERALL : This is a super cute and unique dessert spot in OC that goes beyond just your typical boba and ice cream / jelly desserts! They have a small shop, but with ample seating indoors (and also in the surrounding outdoor areas). Clean store and friendly service with a good variety of colorful asian desserts + drinks. Think Mango, Pandan, Sago, Red Bean, QQ balls, Jellies, boba, and puddings! They allow customizable sugar levels which is a bonus too for those who are trying to control their sugar intake. Their packaging is very neat and the desserts came out fast! I got reduced sugar for all my orders and loved everything I got. PARKING : There is a parking lot shared with all the other shops at the Trade Food Marketplace. Parking can be tight during peak meal times, but I usually come here for a late night dessert so there are barely any other cars there! FOOD/DRINKS : Drinks: - Milky Grass Jelly - Grass Jelly, Red bean, taro balls, Konjac Jelly, Barley, and House Special Milk -- reminded me of something that could be in a dessert bowl, but converted into a drink! Lots of toppings to chew on -- basically a drinkable dessert! - Mango Tango - Fresh Mango, Grapefruit, Sago, Mango jelly, House Special Coconut Milk -- like a mango sago! Always a solid choice Bowls: - Strawberry Fields - Strawberry Pudding, Crystal Boba, Sago, Strawberry, Golden Boba, Water Chesnut Popping Boba, House Special Milk -- Loved the strawberry pudding! Really awesome service, cute decor, bags and even branded napkins! This place reminds me of Meet Fresh but with more variety in toppings, pudding flavors, and a cuter vibe. Great service and presentation of teas, drinks and desserts! Only downside no restrooms. Parking here has a limit and it's situated with other great eating places. They have coconut and soy milk as alternatives which is amazing. You can adjust the sweetness. I recommend adjusting it to be less sweet like 50% unless you have a sweet tooth. -Coconut Republic : 50% sweetness was perfect for me. Loved the taro balls and creamy coconut paired well with the purple rice. -Peach Plum Duet: Super refreshing and liked the popping boba that adds to the fun texture. -Tropical Mango: Altogether was super fruity and purple rice paired surprisingly really well with the mango bits. -Pandan Paradise: Subtle Pandan flavor. The taro balls didn't have strong taro taste but jellies were a good sweet dessert which was good with the pudding. read more

Such a great gem ! A cute small boba shop in Irvine that has great decor and friendly staff. The boba was really refreshing! I got the boba bowl as well and it was a perfect dessert to have after having a hearty meal. I got the princess peach bowl and I love how there's so many toppings that came with it , it's like eating a dessert cereal . Mango lovers rejoice! If you're a fan of mangos you might like the mango tango drink here. I was craving something sweet late one night and came across this dessert shop. The store inside has a cute design aesthetic and has a couple tables inside for you to sit and enjoy your dessert. I decided to go with the mango tango drink and the pandan paradise bowl both at reduced sugars. As mentioned, the mango tango drink is filled with fresh cut mango along with some grapefruit pulps and mango jelly on a coconut milk base. Truthfully, it felt more like a dessert fruit bowl that you drink with a straw, but it was still light and refreshing none the less. Meanwhile the pandan Paradise Bowl had some pandan pudding, taro balls, red beans, and other toppings mixed with a coconut milk that was also light and refresh but didn't taste overly sweet at all. Finally tried the dessert shop that I'd seen ALL over social media! Chewie & Mellow in Irvine is literally decked out to the NINES and their branding is on point. the tofu pudding in the sweet tofu mango drink was so silky & mango-y, and the dark cherry slush that came highly recommended by the staff was OH SO good. The customer service is wonderful. The person behind the counter explained all the drinks to us. I got the Taro Cloud Mochi 70% sweetness - it was the perfect amount of sweetness, especially with the brown sugar boba. It was an interesting texture. My wife got the Iced Chocolate Mochi 70% sweetness and it was DELICIOUS. I wish I tried that one instead. My parents got one of the bowls and they said it was yummy. Chewie and Mellow is a boba and dessert spot located in a plaza with a food court and other eateries. It can be difficult to park here during rush hours, but my friend and I went on a weeknight so it was easy to find a spot. Upon entering, we were greeted by a staff member. The interior is light and bright with a lot of cute decor. There isn't much seating; only several bar seats. Orders can be placed at the cashier or at a self-ordering kiosk. We ordered the Pandan Paradise bowl to share. The bowl and the bag it came in were super cute and match the aesthetic of the shop. The bowl was very good -- it was light and not too sweet. It reminded us of Meet Fresh but we liked that it had a base of pandan pudding (although the texture and taste was more similar to jelly). It came with a side of coconut milk which makes the dessert creamier but can overpower the pandan taste a bit if not a coconut fan (I like coconut, so I used a lot of it). The bowl was loaded with toppings such as coconut jelly, taro balls, sago, and red bean, and they were all as tasty and fresh as the pandan pudding. Overall, giving Chewie and Mellow a 5/5. The staff are friendly, service is quick, and decor is well-themed. Wish there was more seating inside but we didn't have any issues finding a spot outside to enjoy our bowl. Would recommend to others looking for a dessert spot and would come back to try a different bowl or a drink. read more

My partner wanted to check out Chewie & Mellow because she loved the theme of the shop and the aesthetic, and I was pleasantly surprised! The shop is really nice and is decorated with all sorts of cute stuff and with their mascots too! My partner ordered the Mango Tango and I ordered the Citrus Burst, and both drinks exceeded my expectations! The star of the show was the Mango Tango, as it was made with real mango and was creamy as well. Very refreshing for a hot summer day. The Citrus Burst hit the spot for me as I love any sort of citrus drink. Service is really good as well and the bobarista gave us complimentary insulated bags for our drinks. I've been wanting to try this place since the desserts look so good and I've heard good things. I really enjoyed the decor inside I thought it was super cute and they even sell the blind boxes that they have on display! Service was good, fast and nice. We got the grass jelly bowl to share. It was pretty good except every time I had a bite with a raisin it felt a little jarring. The textures don't mesh well together. The taro balls were also a bit disappointing as they were hard in the center and not chewy/soft all the way through. Maybe the drinks are better but I don't really see myself returning any time soon. read more

We felt like having dessert after a full meal. We headed over to the center on a Saturday evening. It was probably late enough so we were fortunate enough to find parking without having to circle around a few times. Cute inside with lots of different decorations and stimulation overload. The young man who helped us was very informative and took care in bagging our items to take home. The mango drink and peach princess bowl were not overly sweet. Would like to try some of their other items. read more
