Chick-fil-A is on the top of fast food companies that I admire. This location always seems busy, but long line moved quickly and staff makes you feel genuinely appreciated. Chicken sandwiches are simple, but the honey BBQ (honey mustard) makes the sandwich go from basic to bomb in seconds. Unlike McDonald's, nuggets actually has the texture of chicken meat. I have been a fan of @Chick-Fil-A since I learned about it while in Indianapolis about 10 years ago. So when they began to open here in Chicago I was ecstatic. I began frequenting this location. I mean I went so much that one of the early morning managers learned my order and was front and center when I came in. I mean this was everyday. Yesterday I went to this location because I was in the area and had been feigning for this location(I think its the best). But I was really saddened that they wouldn't take my money. I had made a purchase, sat and ate but I want more to take home to the kids. Yet I was told they don't take bills over twenty dollars. I had NEVER heard such a thing. So i go to chick fil a all the time. Different locations always in the morning because i work all day. I always order a grilled chicken sandwich. No matter what time it is (before 10:30am) never had any issues. Today at this location the lady taking my order was ok with it. Even told me i might have to wait for the fries since it would be cooked to order She than double checked with the cook he insisted that i get out of line n wait for (15 min) because it was still breakfast. I hate this place and wish they never opened in Chicago. It was hard enough trying to fight off the freshman 15 with these jerks right around the corner from campus but now they have really done it! I have to say, the chicken is good, but nothing remarkable or spectacular. Personally, I prefer my fried chicken spicy, a la Popeye's. The service at Chick-fil-A is nothing short of remarkable. When they first opened the restaurant on Chicago, the line was out the door and down the block. Believe it or not, I think I waited in line less than ten minutes before I ordered and god my food. And you will not wait more than about two minutes for your food, if that. What I don't like about Chick-fil-A is the political leanings of the parent corporation. I wanted to really test this place, toss it through the ringer as it were. The inside is very nice and modern, the outside is cold looking, sterile. Work on that. The staff is very friendly and the service is quick as to be expected at a fast food joint. Like I said, I wanted to test this place, so after my class at Loyola, I biked over here, got the Chicken pieces, 4 sauces, fries & cole slaw and went to the gym. Then I stuck my food in the locker while I worked out, for 1.5 hours. Then I biked home and ate it. It was still good. Well done Chick-fil-A. Chicken - Better than the McDonalds, wendys, arbys Burger king noise. Waffle Fries - These were OK, I reserve judgement because I let them sit awhile, and fries don't like that. Cole slaw - nothing to write home about, but they give you a lot. Saw says. (sauces) = Buttermilk ranch - oh yes creamier than snow whites thighs. Polynesian - really awesome. Cross between sweet & sour but not gross. Bbq sauce - least favorite. Too sweet, not enough smoky. Better than all the other fast food BBq sauces tho. Cheese sauce - this was new and the cashier said it was really good. When I ate my food it was so long after I ordered it I forgot what this was. When I first tried it, I thought it was butter. I had a good day today. Part one: I had a dream that I was Thelma in "Thelma and Louise"....but skipping the early part of the story, where she leaves her douchey husband a note in the microwave and then things get ugly with the guy at the country-western line dance-o-rama. The dream went right to Brad Pitt and driving around with my best gal pal, blowing up the trucks of a-holes who don't know how to apologize. FUN. FUN. FUN. Part two: I tried Chick-fil-A for the first time. I'd always heard positive reviews, but I never had it. Of course Chick-fil-A came to my college after I left (if only I'd been on the 9 year plan...). While it's been in my general neighborhood for awhile...I just never made it there for one reason or another. But, all the stars were in alignment today. I had the original sandwich with waffle fries. In terms of fast food chicken sandwiches, Chick-fil-A's rules. RULES, I say. And the waffle fries have probably ruined other fast food fries for me. They have set the standard for "fresh", that's for certain. I am not sure when I will make it to Chick-fil-A again, but I'm already torn between getting the same sandwich, and trying something else. I hear the nuggets are something to behold. And here's another thing...every employee I saw there looked like they could work someplace else. I'm not used to that in fast food places. Everyone was so pleasant...and so...hygienic...and so...employable.... I'm glad Chick-fil-A is close to home, but not too close....if it was any closer, I'd eat there way too often, and, like Thelma's douchey husband, you'd be able to park a car in the shadow of my a$$. While visiting Chicago, a friend and I stopped here for a quick bite while out & about. I do love CFA, and since we don't yet have any in the Bay Area, I was more than happy about stopping here. The chicken was, of course, excellent, but this review is more about the service. I have never NEVER encountered a more friendly & welcoming staff at a fast food establishment. The cashier was extremely friendly, but what really sold me was while eating, the person who I believe was the manager, was walking around asking people if they needed anything, or if we would like refills on our beverages. My first time at Chick-fil-A. Big, bustling, crowded, lunchtime. Many tables, but not many vacant. The attractive cashier with the unexpected British accent--is that Brixton or Bermuda? --hands me my drink, but not my food. "We'll bring it out to you when it's ready." I start to walk away, then: "Just stand over there where we can find you. Next." A minute or two later, another young woman walks straight toward me and hands me a white paper bag. I'm uncertain. How does she know it's me? "This is MY order, isn't it? For 'Tom'?" She gives me an angelic smile--or was that a Jonestown stare?--turns and walks away from me without saying a word. I wade into the crowd, scanning occupied table after table, until I find one open seat way at the end, by the door. I sit, take a sip of my Dr. Pepper--it seemed like a Southern kind of drink to order--and nibble on my waffle fries. The waffle fries are interesting, but not very good. They're not crispy, they're not very hot, and they're limp. Then I bite into the sandwich: CHOMP! Num, num, num, num. Holy Hell, this tastes good! Now I thought the spicy chicken sandwich was a minimalist Creation--just chicken, bun, a couple of pickle slices.... THIS sandwich has lettuce, tomato, jack cheese... HEY! Wait a minute!!! This is a DELUXE spicy chicken sandwich. I've been upgraded! CHOMP! Num, num, num, num. And then I hear it, in the distance, from the direction of the order counter on the other side of the room: "Tom.....Tom....Tom?" They can't be calling ME, there MUST be another "Tom" in a crowd this big. Shouldn't there? CHOMP! Num, num, num, num. Oh my Gosh! I've taken the wrong order!! (But it's an upgrade, not a downgrade, so I really can't complain.) And now, someone who actually paid for this sandwich is giving Hell to the counter people for losing their order. CHOMP! Num, num, num, num. "Tom...Tom...Tom!" All those Christians behind the counter. They all know I did it. They are ACCUSING ME!! CHOMP! Num, num, num, num. "Tom...Tom...TOM!!!" I hear my name shouted across the room, over and over, louder and LOUDER. They're calling me on purpose, to get me to confess my sin. CHOMP! Num, num, num, num. It's not my fault! Everything about this place is amazing, the sandwich, the fries, the sauces, the customer service, etc.... I think the food speaks it for itself, so I'm not gonna bother writing how good it is. Even though they don't put anything in the sandwich but chicken and pickles... the taste is still amazing (after i put my sauces in, of course!). It's Chik Fil A. It's outside the red line. I can walk there from work when I had a day from hell. I mean, I used to walk there from further when I had more frequent days from hell. Every time, I get a #1 with NO PICKLES (I need it to have a bun, I can't do the nuggets) and they have never once given me a pickle. Until it came here I used to just stare longingly at the closed one in the Florida airport, since I was always there on Sundays by some horrible twist of fate. Lines are long but go really fast. This location is spacious, clean and friendly. I checked in only to find that I get a free chocolate chip cookie (saved it for my guy.) I wanted to try the new grilled chicken sandwich. I am extremely happy that I did. Not many places would make me wanna do a couple of cartwheels for this type of sandwich, but move over, here I come. The piece of chicken tasted fresh and was bigger than the soft tasty wheat bread. Just my luck i didnt get a soggy piece of lettuce that other places offer. This is an excellent Chick-Fil-A. It's big, fancy, clean, and the product is as promised. After suffering from an underwhelming breakfast at the State and Lake location, I was hoping to have a more satisfying experience at this location. They definitely delivered and moreover, there was a check-in offer for a free chocolate chip cookie (SCORE!). The biscuit was good and buttery (as usual) and the chicken was nicely breaded which is HUGE because I find that the breading varies from location to location. They were clearly making everything fresh which makes a great product just taste even better. Also of note: they have additional products such as a breakfast platter with eggs and they sell the sauces by the tub. I wish that I could have taken home a tub of chick-fil-a sauce...alas I was only taking a carry-on :( read more

It's been over a month and my mouth still waters when I think about it. The restaurant was busy, the line was long, but moved very quickly. All of the staff I encountered were great and so nice. My only complaint (and not Chick-fil-A's fault): Hey assholes reading books, doing homework and not eating!! Can't you see this place is crazy busy? Call me the devil but I had to try this place in spite of where they stand against anything that is not heterosexual and milky-white Christian. I have never been to a Chick-Fil-A before, ever. My first visit has left me kind of understanding all the hype about their food, but kind of not. Service was friendly but the sandwiches themselves were surprisingly small, like McDonald's-style small, had I been expecting too much for the price? Probably I was, I don't know where I got the idea that Chick-Fil-A would be an economical choice. On to the positives - the chicken itself was definitely moist and flavorful, I generally avoid fast-food chicken because it often gets done up so wrong, but it seems that Chick-Fil-A has got that almost just right. Ditto on the waffle fries, not too soggy or too stiff. I don't know if I will ever visit a Chick-Fil-A again, but if I do it won't be during the lunch rush hour. Had I spent less wait time and less $$ I might be more enthusiastic about returning. And there are plenty of other places in the city where I can spend the same money on a good meal without having to worry about the crass politics of the people who are profiting from my spending. read more

Whereas there's not too much you can do to ruin the food, I was very unimpressed with the service. Every other Chick-fil-A I have been to, the service is what gets me. At this location I felt like a cow in a stockyard. The guy at the register didn't make eye contact; after he swiped my card he failed to even speak to me again. No "thank you," didn't tell me where to wait for my food, just called out "next guest!" in my ear and allowed the next person to push me out of the already crowded register area. Say thanks at least and tell me where the dipping sauces are hidden behind some random pillar in the dining room. And the staff "working" the dining room could take some tips from their smaller sister stores. Talk to people and don't have a look on your face like you're slave labor in a sixteenth century Turkish prison. First time at a Chick-fil-A. Good food, but greasy....I had to run to the bathroom half-an-hour after I ate here. I guess my stomach's not a fan of the grease! The culprit may have been the waffle fries. Grease oozed out of them as they were folded over to dip into the ketchup. I had the spicy chicken sandwich which was very tasty. Not spicy enough for me of course, but it was good enough. But that's why they have packets of hot sauce available, which I love (tabasco!). Also, their dip and squeeze ketchup packets are great! The food is on point, but they are bizarrely stingy with ketchup. This is one of the very few CFA locations where you are not allowed to take as many as you need. Today, I ordered three complete meals, including fries. The food runner brought no ketchup, so I said, "Can we please have some ketchup for our fries." She returned with one (that's not a typo, only 1) container for all three of us. After a few seconds of silent, stunned disbelief, I asked, "Can we PLEASE have more than that?" She looked at me like I just shot her dog but eventually returned with...one more container...and literally threw it on the counter in front of me. I wanted to write an updated review on this location of Chick-fil-A because the service was outstanding! After placing my order, the lady at the counter offered to bring the food to my table. That was very kind as I was with my daughter in her stroller so that made things easy. Also, while we were eating our lunch, another worker was wiping the tables and I asked where I could get my lemonade refilled. She offered to refill my drink for me. I greatly appreciate this level of service, especially when fast food restaurants are not known for this. Unfortunately my complaint from last year still stands true. I never used to understand the hype surrounding Chick-fil-A. However, I have a fairly recurring lunchtime appointment in the area, and this is one of the only passable fast food joints so I kept returning. I'm now sold! The chicken is so fresh and non-processed compared to other chains! The Chick-fil-A sauce is like crack. I could eat containers of it alone. The specialty shakes and brownies are delicious. The sides never wow me the same as the chicken and could be better. Service is fast and efficient. Being next to Loyola, just off both Michigan Avenue and the Chicago red line stop, it is always crowded. However, they fill people's orders quickly and efficiently. Sometimes it's a battle to find a seat, which is annoying. I think they underestimated demand during peak hours and could use an even bigger space. That said, the food and service outweigh the ambiance, resulting in a high four-star rating for fast food! read more

I'm a weird chick-fil-A fan. I like it a lot. Food wise, i'm speaking for only the nuggets with the cfA sauce. Thats what i get everytime. So I dont typically like to eat fast food, having lived in Chicago 15 years I actually have never ever had chick-fil-A till 2015, and went to the Chicago branch for the first time a few months ago. I dont know how old CFA is tho. but i dont think its a new chain. I didnt expect the establishment of CFA here to be really nice! it doesnt smell like fast food, its clean, the service is very friendly, fast, the nuggets were delicious and cheap. So i go there a lot since i discovered it. After i've done my shopping in the area,this is my stop. It feels good that i dont hav to go to any of the expensive restaurants downtown. I get a lil booth seat, eat my crispy nuggets w CFA sauce. Sometimes i get the waffle fries coz thats good too. Writing this review makes me want some. I love Chick-fil-a!! I'm from the dirty south so I've missed it oh so much! I was so excited to see it opening so close to me. A few nights ago, after leaving the bars at 2 am, I was walking by and passed this location. There were people (managers? owners?) inside so I waved and one of the guys came out to say Hello and said to come back on June 16th for their grand opening. How nice of him. I love them already. Also, I have seen the cows walking around and they were giving out free chicken sandwiches. I'm a nugget gal myself and loooove the waffle fries. Oh and the oreo milkshakes - delishhhhh. Okay, so this location isn't exactly open, but I love them already (I hope it doesn't turn shady like some of the other places on Chicago Ave.) and I can already tell they're going to have great customer service. read more

Customer satisfaction is measured by consistency, and that is exactly what Chick-Fil-A does! I love coming here for the special blend of spices on their sandwiches, waffle cut fries, and a Dr. Pepper (or sometimes a chocolate shake). The breakfast chicken minis are delicious. They need to open more of these restaurants in Chicago. I've been to the one in Schaumburg and I really like this one downtown; they both look brand new, and the service is always quick, friendly, and amazing. The only reason I gave four stars instead of five for the rating is because unlike the other places this location does not offer the slices of lemon pie.
