I've eaten their chicken many times over the years and it has usually been good, until recently. Somehow, they've discovered a new breed of bird that's slightly larger than a marshmallow Easter peep! These scrawny creatures have legs the size of pencils, thighs the size of a tea bag and, after being way over-cooked, feels like you're chewing on a piece of jerky from the paleolithic era! I really like the rotisserie chicken but I don't bother with the sides or anything else. El Pollo Loco has better sides. You can get 8 pieces for $6.99 and this is basically a whole chicken cut up-- two each of breast, thighs, legs, and wings. I like that it is drive-thru. It has a good smokey taste, is tender, and isn't too salty. The tacos and burritos are not what I expected. I am more used to Mission-style taqueria food. The tacos were pre-made hard shells and rather bland. The burrito was large with too much fine shredded cheese and sour cream. The sour cream overwhelmed everything. As far as fast food is concerned, I'm claiming this little place to have the best rotisserie chicken that my taste buds have ever encountered. The meat is marinated for hours with tangy lemon and herbs, and is so succulent that it literally falls off the bone! A two piece meal is $5, and is flanked with you choice of mash potatoes/gravy or rice/beans, garlic bread or tortillas, and freshly made salsa. Might I add a healthier and smarter alternative to KFC which is located on the next block. Make sure you have cash on hand because they have this odd debit card payment method...you have to "with-drawl" $10 first and then they give you back the remaining change, a lovely fee of $1 is also attached. I happen to work around the corner, so this is my lunch of choice at least once a week. MAN OH MAN. This place seriously has one of the best tacos I have ever had. I am an extreme taco junkie and have tried tacos from many, many places and I must say that the tacos here are absolutely delicious. My boyfriend and I always order the same thing; Taco combo plate with an extra taco with a side of beans and rice or whatever else I'm in the mood for. Its a fast food place so expect to get all dressed up and come here for a date. But it suits the purpose to just sit down and eat your meal. They also have a drive thru if you don't want to eat inside. but I do keep my hand sanitizer handy when eating inside, lol. They have a staff of diligent workers who demonstrate great customer service. The meat is so delicious, no matter what you order, you'll at least get a taste of their wonderful chicken, which is probably why I love the tacos so much. I love their rice too, its so fluffy, I don't feel guilty for eating carbs. I have tried their taco salad, super burrito, 3 piece meal, and taco combo plate, and have been satisfied with everything I get from here. In the summer, they also have late hours and sometimes close at midnight, which is awesome when you have the munchies late at night! We always come to the drive through for their chicken tacos with sour cream. Their tacos can be delicious when drunk and with la vics hot sauce if you have it. My boyfriend really likes the their hot sauce with the chicken tacos. If I were to describe them I would say they're pretty basic with the lettuce, tomatoes, a hard/soft shell, cheese, and shredded rotisserie chicken. We LOVE this place. We get take out for our family here 2-3 times a month. Great Juicy Chicken - NOT FRIED! Love the sides, especially the spanish rice and cold slaw. The tortillas (flour or corn) are always fresh and warm and I love the chunky salsa they provide. I think this place is so appealing to me just because it looks so dinky and dirty from the outside but is so surprisingly good. The chicken is great, it's cheap, fast, and it doesn't make you feel like you just bathed in a vat of lard like so many restaurants do. I used to go here a lot more often, but I'm getting a craving. Monica helped me decide what to order for my son's graduation party last week. He wanted Mexican food and I found caterers to be slow in returning calls and not happy that I "only" wanted food for 40. Monica was lovely and gave me confidence the food would be ready. I've eaten there before and ordered a family pack for another party years ago, so I knew the food is fresh and delicious. Their food made our party! The chicken was scrumptious, and the pico de gallo was so fresh and tasty. You get lots of sides choices with party packs, and the portions are large. Until I talked to Monica, I was stressing over the food. She was lovely and came through for us. We ordered 2 party packs and technically had enough food for 48, but we had lots left over even though I saw people eating large plates of food. Not set in the best of areas, but the daily long lines at the drive-thru that you constantly see driving past this location were an accurate indication this time around. The chicken is fresh and not greasy, definitely a healthy eating option when you're considering eating out. After eating and thinking I was indulging myself with this meal, I realized I wouldn't personally classify it as fast food. Everything appears to be healthy and prepared fresh, from the beans, to the rice, down to the pico de gallo, even their flour tortillas are soy and wheat based. To those who say there are no healthy eating options when eating out, I guess you've never had Chicken Express! Who knew this little quaint place serving Mexican Rotisserie Chicken would be this good? I will try their agua fresca next time, knowing that their beans and pico de gallo are legit.
