If I could give this place 0 stars I would cause the service we got was terrible. We decided to sit at the bar and as we came into the bar section the bartender eyes were following us to the table w picked. We waited for about 15 mins and my friend went to the bar to ask if it was ok to sit where we were sitting and he gave her the attitude. She sat back down and waited another 10 minutes for him to come take our order. And we explained how we wanted to ask if this area was ok and he responded back saying I'm tired. I'm trying to clean up. After we were done eating and was trying to pay. We heard the bartender telling new customers coming into the bar that he's been there since 10am and didn't want them at the other tables. Overall service terrible. And if anyone's wondering who it was he's the bartender with a beard and has a face likes he's smelling something bad. read more

We were seated right away on a Friday for dinner. The food was good but the service was pretty crappy. We waited a very long time for our food to come out then waited a long time for our kids dessert to come out after the food was all done. We finished our drinks while we were eating and our waitress was nowhere to be found so we we waited more time to get a refill on our drinks. My son's meal came out in pieces because nothing was ready. He first got his ribs then later got his side of corn and finally his fries. I was the last one to get my burger and it didn't come out until way later after the rest of my family received their food. Friday night for dinner and understaffed. And wait is ridiculous. So many open tables but no servers. Hostess was nice but was doing her bills at the front desk. And not really paying attention to if tables were open. The server was having major trouble using the ordering tablet to order had to repeat our several times. And then the food took over thirty minutes to receive. Yet other tables were getting their f food ahead of our order. The food is so so. The bar doesn't open til 6:30 cause they don't have bar help. This place has turned into a dump! My wife and I went in there to eat at the bar and the bartender was this older, smelly, greasy dude who looked like he was on a four day bender. He was working the bar and tables and after 15 minutes of not even getting a drink we went to the other side to sit down instead and that was a mistake. This is a very busy restaurant, so we usually get ourselves onto an online waitlist. It makes a huge difference as you can see where you are on the list . Our servers were fabulous.. my 3 star review is for the cleanliness of this place and chefs. As I sat down in my seat, I stepped on something very soft and squishy. When I looked down, I had stepped onto a hamburger bun and noticed dirty napkins on the floor. Yuck! Just looking around made me think what else is really clean?!! Chili's is a South San Jose staple and I would be super sad if they ever closed this location. I've been mostly doing takeout-only for the last couple years, but it's usually a really pleasant experience. I try and aim for early dinner time to beat the rush and typically my food is ready before the estimated time. Lunch is never busy either. I'm never waiting too long for an employee to bring it out to me and only once has it been incorrect, which I think is a pretty good record. I'm docking one star because I think the dine-in experience is a little sad and has gone downhill since my high school / college days. The food keeps me coming back, so I'll continue placing takeout orders from this location! read more

Tried to get a to go order. Ordered at 7:25pm via Chilis app. Said it would be done around 7:55pm. I showed up a little after 8. Inside was not busy but several dashers waiting in to go area. Asked two different staff about my order and they said they were backed up and also couldn't find the order. I showed them the proof on my phone and that it had already charged my account. After talking to two different people and waiting almost 30 min in the to go area (left around 8:20pm) I asked for refund. Manager came out and had me write my name on a piece of paper and said it would be 5-6 days before I could get a refund. Everyone that was there before me had gone with large orders and several others who came in after me had also left. So I know they were very busy, which is great for their business but I couldn't seem to find anyone who had interest in filling my order unless I wanted to wait an additional 20-30 min. Hopefully I will see the refund because it was $63 and I never received food, an apology or even acknowledgment that I placed an order. This location must be busy enough with large to go orders. If you are ordering a small order to go be, just be prepared to wait and also hope they can find the order if you use the app and not Door Dash. I do enjoy the food normally so it's disappointing to have this type of experience. Funny enough... although no one could find my order I did get a text to fill out a survey a few hours later lol. I was sure to fill that out straight away. Hopefully it makes it to someone who cares because I'm guessing with all the bad reviews on Yelp, concerns for this location fall on deaf ears. Good luck! Yesterday my good friend & went to meet up at our spot for the first time in two years due to the pandemic. We always sit in the bar for Happy Hour. When we arrived @5pm the bar area was completely closed. So we were seated in the dining room. We asked our server if we could still have Happy Hour in the dining room since we were unable to sit in the bar because they had closed it. We were not permitted to have Happy Hour because we were "seated in the dining room" & Happy Hour is restricted to the bar area only. I could fully understand this is the bad was actually open & we had access to sit in the bar. We did not. I think this was bad form. Chili's should have honored their Happy Hour in the dining room since they had closed the entire bar area to all customers. read more

Chili's is my FAVORITE chain restaurant ever. So much so, that my friends and I frequent this location and come every 1-2 weeks. We always sit in the bar because it is self seating and the bartenders are awesome! Almost every time we come we get Lilia as our server and she is THE BEST. Despite that she's always swamped with a ton of tables she gives us great service. Our glasses are never empty. We always get the 2 for $25 and start with the chips and guacamole. The portion of the chips is huge and the guac is always fresh, never brown. For my meal I always get the steak, cooked medium rare, with broccoli and rice. People always ask me why I would get a steak at chili's, but for what I'm paying for it's really not that bad! They add a garlic butter which is super flavorful. For dessert we always get the chocolate molten lava cake. It is one of my favorite desserts ever. The 2 for $25 deal is truly unbeatable. read more

We waited an hour and a half before our food got to the table, and when it finally arrived, every dish was cold, they brought the wrong dish and the so called manager came out twice and did nothing. We hadn't been to this Chilis location since before the pandemic. They used to have this really rude manager, annoying, abrasive, condescending, and so we had stopped going there. (Do I have an opinion??? Haha!) Anyway, decided it was time to give them a try again. My rewards account was still active, had a free chips and salsa (it is huge - check out the picture). We both ordered off their lunch menu. Comes with a free soft drink, but since we both had Samuel Adams Octoberfest beer, we only benefited "two of the three" items on their lunch specials. Husband had their Smasher Burger (which was huge) that came with fries and appetizer (he had potato soup). I had the Lime Cilantro Carne Asada, and also had the soup. The carne asada was a bit overcooked and a little chewy, but the sauce was flavorful. I can't really complain about the salsa, as it was free, but it was a bit boring - I'm okay with it being really mild, but it could have used maybe a squeeze of lime or something to zing it up a little. We ate in the bar, loved our server Jason. Glad we gave them a second chance. We will start going again. read more

First time visit review:. Jacob the bartender is amazing. The only reason for the four stars is the service. Chili's food is always consistent. It's mid-grade chain food. The only thing that up sells the restaurant is service. We came in at 5:30pm on a Wednesday and sat in the bar because the dining room was draab and mostly empty. The 3 for $10 is a friggin deal! 1 appetizers, 1 enter 1 drink (non alcoholic) is a delicious bargain you can't deny. My family and I came here for lunch the other day and Our server/bartender Adan was exceptional. A million mahalos to him for making our experience very enjoyable. We all got the 3 for $10 deal. The fan favorite Honey Chipotle Chicken Crispers, corn on the Cobb (one of my favorites) and fries was the go to pick. However I went with the avocado slices on top of a medium rare steak with roasted asparagus. It was surprisingly stellar. As an appetizer we all shared chips and salsa and of course? I had to order my all-time favorite dish "the Chicken enchilada soup". Say what you want about it but it's a nostalgic choice I've grown to look forward to anytime I come here. After waiting 10 minutes they informed us that it would be a 30 minute wait because they only had one server (on a Saturday at lunchtime??). The blended margaritas here are the best!!!! 2nd best is Aqui, but they use vodka in ALL their blended drinks...which is odd for margaritas. I prefer sitting at the bar, and the bar at Chilis is a great place to chill, watch sports, eat, and have a drink. The bartenders and servers are friendly and fast. It is affordable, and there are specials like 2 meals for $20.00. I usually order steak with asparagus ("Guiltless Grill) or the veggie burger, and the price can't be beat. I have been going to chilis for quite some time now, but have noticed the big change in service from what it was to what it is nowadays service is EXTREMELY SLOW. If you ask anyone for ranch etc and that is not your server, don't even expect to get it. I was there and I was over charged two drinks I didn't order plus an order of "Chips and dip" which I hope is not the price for CHIPS AND SALSA. Because $8.00 for chips and salsa would be ridiculous. This has not been the only incident I witnessed. No matter if you go in the day time or evening is always the same disappointment . I think servers, bartenders, runners etc need to be retrained so you guys can provide the best service ever. Short staffing is unacceptable and clients should not have to wait10/15 minutes to be served their drinks and get a lousy service. If that continues everyone will be out of work pretty soon and NO ONE SHOULD WONDERING WHY THAT HAPPENED. I came to Chilies on November 10, 2023 with my friend. We were seated immediately which was nice. The bar tender was amazing I would give him 5 stars no doubt. The vibe of the restaurant was what I didn't like. Our server seemed lost for some reason. I let her know we were celebrating a birthday she forgot to bring out the birthday treat after being reminded 3 times. We finally gave up and said we can celebrate else where. Our food came out nice but just a bummer that the birthday treat or our chocolate cake was never brought out. Also we noticed a gentleman yelling from the corner of the restaurant asking for the manager. I guess the family had been sitting for some time but were not helped by their server. Sadly the gentleman also had 3 kids with him under the age of 10. He asked for juice which never came to the table. The server asked the gentleman to quiet done and was told that people like him should not be in their restaurant. He started to get angry and he asked people like me. What do you mean? Some older lady that works at Chilies said, you Mexicans think you got it good. Not sure what she meant by that. But the situation got kinda steamy from there. Personally I felt bad they were not being loud but they were waited a long time to simply get kicked out. The situation was handled very poorly. The gentleman called the cops. Ok this is our first and second attempt to come here after pandemic. We came today with no one in the waiting area (we even called ahead because we have young kids and can't do long waits). It took 5/6 minutes of people just passing by to even be greeted and get our name down (it was 4:30 on btw). Ok got our name down and there seemed to be seating available but had to wait 10/15 minutes in waiting area before we gave up. Also there was 2-3 more groups who came and also were never greeted.
