Someone ordered me food and had it delivered to me while I was sick. Came with no utensils or receipt showing what was ordered. I got some coconut base soup. It's kind of a tangy soup. Lots of vegetables. This was actually pretty good until I hit a chunk of something hard it the soup. It's rock hard I have no clue what it is but I've added a picture. Besides that the soup was really good and comforting. Still hot when I got it. Also got noodles of some sort with vegetables. Looks amazing, good portion. But the taste is off, its bland and fishy. Had spring rolls too. Good, solid spring rolls. The sauce it came with is really pungent in flavor it's off putting. If you take a little sauce with each bite it's ok. Came here for lunch this afternoon after the 2 other places next door which were our top choices were closed. I love thai food so I was excited when we stumbled upon this small shop. Once I sat down, I instantly checked yelp as I always do to get the low down on # of stars, popular dishes, and common complaints. I became hesitant as soon as I saw 3 stars with over 340 reviews. We were the only people in the restaurant and I started to think that was a sign....my boyfriend said this was a fan favorite of his so we decided to stay. For food we went with the tom yum gai, yellow chicken curry, chicken pad thai, and chilli thai chicken. I would consider myself a tom yum gai connoisseur and this honestly was the worst tom yum I have had. For starters, the soup was lukewarm and everyone knows that the key to good soup is to serve it piping hot! Not only was the soup temperature a problem, the flavor was another issue. Overly tangy and tart with too much lemon made it impossible to enjoy! I tried to keep an open mind but at this point I had a feeling that I was not going to come out pleased. Shortly after (we were the only ones here so I expected this speed) the rest of the dishes came 1 by 1. The yellow curry was totally bland and the potatoes were so undercooked that i couldn't even cut through them with my fork!! The pad thai noodles were really soggy and even though I know just as well as anyone else that pad thai noodles can get soft, these were next level mushy! The last dish to come, the chilli thai chicken, was by far the best! The chicken was crisp and the veggies were plentiful. Overall, did not love the food but the chilli thai chicken brought my experience up significantly (to 3 stars)!! Most likely will not return here. read more

THE BEST Thai food in Los Angeles. This place is a hole in the wall with 7 tables but packs huge flavor. The restaurant is always clean and they sanitize tables, menus, and chairs between diners. Our personal favorites are the egg rolls, beef/chicken satay, chili Thai chicken, chicken fried rice, and spicy noodles. The food is ready fast and always comes out hot. They have great lunch specials, too. Chili Thai has something for everyone, their menu has a ton of options. This is our go to take out spot for Thai food. I've never actually dined in the restaurant but I order delivery all the time through Yelp and the food is always tasty and good quality. There's been a few times they have been out of something I order and they will call me to ask what I want to replace it with. It's a bit hard to understand the communication over the phone due to a heavy accent so I try to put in alternate notes in my order online. West LA has many Thai restaurant options, and when mapping out the quality of all these Thai restaurants across a normal distribution graph, Chilli Thai falls somewhere slightly above the median. The dishes are less expensive than most places, with entrees around $10 or under, the prices barely rising over the years. The food is hit and miss. I ordered a pretty disappointing dish -- garlic chicken over steamed vegetables, which just turned out to be some sliced, slightly dry chicken over a huge bed of cabbage (and no other vegetables). The spicy stir-fried eggplant, however, was divine, and the green curry delicious. I appreciate that they warned me about how they could not make the green curry completely mild/not spicy, and even offered to cool it off a bit when it turned out too hot for my taste. They get an extra star on Yelp for looking out for me in this way. It's nice that in addition to the usual chicken, beef and pork, they also offer duck as an option for the curries for not a lot more. I was thrown off by how the menu stated they do not use MSG in the food. However, since I am sensitive to MSG, I got a bit of an MSG hangover after eating here. This review is only for the mango sticky rice. Delicious! I just came back from Thailand a few weeks ago and I consumed more mango sticky rice than food. This place is a winner for sure. I don't really like how the rice is piping hot and the mangos are just room temperature, it's such a strange combo but it was a mix of that in thailand. This restaurant is a hole in the wall right across the street from Landmark theater. We have been wanting to try it for a while but somehow we always skipped it. Today we decided to give it a try. What can I say... I am actually disappointed. The food was just okay and the price was too high for the quality. The crab fried rice had a lot of crab meat which was great but the taste was just so so. Couldn't beat the crab fried rice from Thai Tree House for sure. We specifically asked for Tom yum soup for our house noodle soup. It came so sweet. We even asked for lemon to make it sour but didn't help. The honey duck was crispy but again the taste was just so so. Half fried duck for $16? I expected more! With a lot of good Thai restaurants in the west side like Natalee Thai, Thai Tree House, Tuk Tuk Thai and Thai Boom, I won't come back to this restaurant for sure! Additional note... Food was not bad here. Slightly above average as far as Thai restaurants goes. I would not recommend the Mongolian beef. It was too sweet and is Mongolia a Thai province? It was not my idea to order it and no, Mongolia and Thailand are 2 different countries and you can not get Mongolian beef in Mongolia either. One of our favorite spots for takeout. The restaurant ambiance is cute and quaint too. Feels like you're in Thailand. The only reason I only give it 4 stars is because the prices are a bit high. I realize that rent is also high but often times our bill is easily $80 after tax and tip for 4 dishes. We had just finished watching the 3 hour movie The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, across the street at the Landmark Theater. My friend announced she was starved. We asked the ushers for a nearby recommendation, they pointed across the street. A good eatery they said was Chilli Thai. We spotted an "A" rating from the view up at the Landmark. We decided to "chance" it. There were only 2 other tables occupied when we walked inside. I grew suspicious of the stifling odor. Even more skeptical when the waitress acted all pouty when she took our order. Maybe she had a bad day, who knows? I didn't time it, but it seemed like it took awhile to bring out my tofu vegetable soup. The broth was steamy hot, though skimpy on the veggies. I would order it again, a big bowl with extra veggies or extra broccoli. I would not order the Prik King again. The sauce was over salted, though the green beans were extra crunchy. If they took away 90% of the sauce & added more green beans I would reconsider. The tofu was deep fried. My friend ordered the All Day Special, c-1, BBQ Chicken. She said it was missing something. I advised her to ask for another order of sauce on the side & that seemed to help her out. She remarked that it still did not taste barbeque - ish. However her chicken pieces were decent sized & she ate it all up, see pictures. This restaurant sufficed in a pinch. By the time we left, people had stood in line for a table for God knows how long. They were eager to take our seats. In my humble opinion, having been to about a dozen Thai restaurants around town, it was not worth the wait for dinner here. Hey life is just too short. We waved down the attention of the waitress, a simple napkin elicited a sigh. Seriously the service sucked, big time. It was a 3 star night for Sarah G. and I. 5 stars for the company, since Sarah G. is a dream, but 3 stars for the food and atmosphere at Chilli Thai. While Natalee Thai is some clean, good, White Man's Thai food, Chilli Thai feels a little more authentic, but isn't as good in my opinion. I got the $6.50 Super Special Amazing Silly All Day Foodriffic Meal with Pad Thai. It comes with a veggie egg roll and some white rice. As a vegetarian, I subbed vegetables for the chicken in the pad thai and added tofu (about 5 cubes) for $1.00, bringing my Super combo to $7.50. Like Sarah said, this place is really small, definitely not a huge place. With its location next to the Westside Pavilion, there was a very diverse crowd in here! It wasn't filled with all Asian people like more traditional Thai places, nor was it filled with White people like Natalee Thai. It was right in the middle, which is how I would describe the food as well. The pad thai was decent, but the broc in my noodles kind of had an oyster flavor to it. My egg roll was much smaller than Sarah's (that's what she said), but it was decent and the rice tasted like rice. The pad thai was even more slippery/gooey than I would have liked and it was overall just pretty ok. Not bad, not great, just ok. However, with so many $6.50 all day combos that are about the same size as what you get at Vegan Glory or California Vegan (NOTE: All of the combos except for one do have meat, so this is not necessarily any more friendly of a vegetarian place as any other Thai place), just without the delish salad that you get at Vegan Glory and the disgusting salad you get at California Vegan. it's a good deal if you're just jonesing for a quick Thai fix. read more

Food was wonderful. We ordered the coconut milk hot and sour soup with chicken and mushrooms- one word- odd- BUT delicuous! It's a must have! Next up their all day special! 6.95 for any meal on the back of their regular menu! Comes with rice and an egg roll! I ordered the Thai spicy chicken mint!- except asked for basil instead! Was AMAZING! I absolutely loved it! With that price there's no denting of anyone's budget! Since we saved so much on the meal we even ordered dessert! Mango with sticky sweet and salty rice! Uhh.. I DoorDashed Pad See Ew and Red Curry from here. I adore Thai food and wanted some comfort food so I decided to order. The portion of the curry was laughable for the price and the chicken was dry. Now to the Pad See EWWWW! Emphasis on the "Ew" because it was truly disgusting. Again, let me reiterate that I ADORE Thai food, this dish in particular. As soon as I opened the lid, I knew something was wrong. My pork was clearly dry and thrown on top of a mountain of dry flat noodles, soggy bok choy, and broccoli. I mean it was truly horrible.
