I got to the restaurant and the parking lot was packed. I had to park across the street. I walked in and was greeted with a delicious aroma. I ordered BBQ Pork and Sweet and Sour Pork to go. I got back to my hotel room and unpacked it all. I saw that white rice was included. The BBQ Pork had a delicious sauce and was boxed with iceberg lettuce. It was actually a great combination. The Sweet and Sour Pork had onions, green peppers and pineapple. I put that over the rice and couldn't stop eating. Which says a lot because the portions were huge. Friendly staff, especially loved the orange chicken, Sichuan green beans, and honey walnut shrimp. Great ambiance. Super friendly staff. Delicious food at very reasonable prices. I've been here twice so far. Last night went with my boyfriend for date night. He ordered the Salt And Pepper chicken and I had the chicken egg foo young. While the restaurant may not be much to look at from the outside and isn't very elegant, it is great. I'm giving a lower 4 star rating. And mostly on pickiness on the flavor profiles. It's my opinion that there are some really tasty dishes and some that taste good but lack more defined flavors that you might search for in Chinese cooking - garlic, ginger, scallion, etc. AND if you're in a larger group you'll end up getting a lot of dishes that end up blending in with one another so losing the unique of the flavors. However that said, there are some great dishes including the salt and pepper fries chicken wings (surprisingly!) fried with jalapeños slices and scallions. The walnut shrimp is top notch without being overalls heavy on the cream, the candied walnuts that coat your tongue with its nutty aroma and of course the large shrimp! Also by far I've had the best tasting duck at China Chili with its skin crispy and the tender duck meat. However some cucumber slices for the condiments would be nice! On service, I think the main service staff work really hard to make sure customers are satisfied but I've gone a few times when some other wait staff were quite lackluster in their attention to customers' needs. However, I appreciated when I asked about an issue with a dish, it was solved immediately for us. read more

I don't know why I've never written a review before, but walking in tonight to get take out and seeing how seriously they are taking the safety of staff and customers made me realize my oversight. The Singapore noodles are amazing, the duck kicks ass, and I love the salt and pepper chicken. When it's safe, check out the awesome dining room with the huge lazy Susan's that make sharing that spectacular duck possible. Received the wrong order. Things happen, right? I called to get it resolved and they would not help me, and only kept repeating that they checked the order. Well, not well enough, obviously. I ordered a tofu dish and received chicken curry. Do you think they in any way offered to remedy the situation? Nope. No vegetable egg rolls. No tofu. Only thing right was my friend's sesame chicken. Ordered 4 lunch special. Two Sichuan shrimp, teriyaki chicken and sweet and sour chicken. Encouraged by 4 Star yelp review, we went in. First they gave use soup, kinda like egg drop with a bit of veggies. Pretty good But all dishes were so sweet, the sweet and sour chicken was almost inedible. This type of chinese American restaurant this caliber will fold in a few months if they open up on Dallas. I was craving Hong Kong style chow mein really bad so I busted my Yelp app and China Chili was one of the first on the list. We got to the restaurant and were seated promptly. Our order: crab puffs, salt and pepper shrimp and Hong Kong style chow mein. We first got our crab puffs and they were slim. Once I started eating them, there was practically no crab meat. For $6, what a rip! Then we get the chow mein and shrimp. The entrees weren't any better because they were bland, bland, bland! I was so disappointed. This is an excellent restaurant with very tasty unique dishes. Why am I giving it 5 stars? My mom said that she really enjoyed her meal, and was the best Asian dinner she's ever had. I was glad to hear that because I liked my food too! Although this restaurant is called China Chili, it takes its inspiration from Singapore and Malaysian influences. The egg rolls were even different. I was pleased to see that they use rice wrapper instead of the thick flour kind that most Chinese restaurant use. I don't really like those because they are too thick! Also, being a vegetarian, I was also very impressed with the vegetable selection here. My roommate ordered the Ma Po Tofu. I ordered the Tofu with green string beans, and my mom ordered the cashew chicken. The dishes were prepared to a high standard and served in good-sized portions. My review: Please understand that I am a hard rater. I rarely award more than 3 stars. My definition of 3 stars is a good, solid meal with good service. It is a place that I recommend you try and a place I will likely return to. The food here was tasty and the value for what you pay is within reason. The staff was friendly and attentive. Both made for a positive dining experience. Today I began with a large bowl (enough for 4!) of chicken corn chowder. I found it to be slightly bland. Next was sweet and sour chicken and house fried rice. Both good. I was disappointed that they did not offer combination plates. Everything was ala carte (Sat). Take a chance and eat here. My go to Chinese restaurant. We had the Phoenix Dragon family meal for 3. It came with chicken salad, hot & sour soup, fried rice, sweet n sour pork, king Pau Chicken, Mongolia beef. I have occasionally eaten at China Chili since moving here in 1992. Whenever I need a fix for Chinese, they have been my choice. They have the best orange chicken I have ever eaten! No one can come close! Most places serve nuggets with syrup sauce over it, China chili is authentic and awesome. Last night I also ordered the veggie delight, it was delicious: veggies done to perfection! It was the perfect balanced meal. No wonder it's rated one of the best Chinese restaurants in the valley! We were driving around & decided to Yelp nearby restaurants. China Chili popped up in the list & had received good reviews, so we decided to stop by. The parking spaces in front & behind the restaurant are limited & when we got there, there were no spots open so we had to park on the street. When we walked in, we noticed the restaurant was much larger than it appeared from the outside & was pretty busy - a good first sign. We were promptly seated & brought our drinks. We ordered the Fried Golden Prawns for an appetizer and the Chicken in Phoenix Nest & Sesame Chicken for our meal. The prawns were good but nothing special. There were sweet & sour and horseradish sauces on the table which were the only reason that the prawns had any taste. As for our meal, the Chicken in Phoenix Nest was in an interesting tasting sauce - the first couple of bites were good but left a weird after taste. I only ate 3 or 4 bites. The Sesame Chicken was the same way. I understand that it's a different preparation than the sweet American version but this plate just had a bunch of slices of fried chicken with a gravy tasting sauce poured on top. I only ended up eating about 4 or 5 bites of this as well & was done. Additionally, one of the things we noticed was that our waiter was really nice. We had a few questions about the menu & he was more than happy and nice, answered everything. Some of the ladies who were waitresses there, however, were not friendly. They glared at people when walking around picking up plates & dropping off meals. It was a little un-comforting / intimidating to get these looks while eating.
