The worst Chipotle i've ever tried to frequent. Been twice and had to leave both times after waiting in line. First time, they were out of chicken. This time, out of white rice. They provide no notice and try to rush you through the line. It's not OK that the other part of my order gets cold because you are out of an ingredient -- not for a $10 burrito. This was my first time going to a Chipotle, so I didn't even know what kind of restaurant to expect. For those who don't know, it's a fast-food place with counter service and some tables. If you've eaten in Mexico you know that burritos aren't really Mexican food, but the ingredients are Mexican-style. So we'll let Chipotle call itself a Mexican restaurant on a technicality. Plusses: The burrito was actually pretty good. I tried the carnitas, black beans, white rice, and some sour cream. Entirely decent and worth the price. The guacamole was too spicy for my taste. When I make guac it's just avocado, onion, cilantro, and salt. But this is clearly not a foodie place, so whatever. They do have a variety of ingredients you can request to build a burrito or a salad, and the line moved reasonably quickly when I was there. Minuses: The place is really noisy. They had some very crappy music turned up way too loud and the walls and windows are acoustically very reflective. I was glad I had my earbuds in, listening to a podcast. So, as the three stars imply, the place is "A-OK". HOWEVER: With "The Hot Shop" just a few blocks away and serving much better, much more inventive burritos, I'm not sure why anybody hankering for a Mexican-style food log would come to this place. read more

Don't frequent this chipotle! Really wish I would've made the drive to Pinole because my bowl tonight was super disappointing. Rice was hard, put way too much sour cream but skimped on salsa and chicken. I will not be back here again. Slow service, skimping on ingredients, poorly prepared ingredients (come on hard rice really!), employees that are unfriendly and inattentive, and a small parking lot to top it off. Chipotle, I look forward to a certain product when I enter you stores and this location falls way short of my expectations. We are huge fans of Chipotle, and have patronized locations all over the country. Love it. The food here is as to be expected from the chain - good. The employees are nice. My issue is: we've ordered several times through the app for pickup at this location and every time I come to pick up our order, they have not even started it. I totally understand that this is an extraneous service, but seriously - under promise, over deliver - not the other way around. I am now on a personal mission to review as many different Mexican restaurants/taquerias/taco trucks as possible so people know where they can get delicious burritos and not waste their money. i am not here to bash or slam places, just give a simple helpful review from a burrito connoisseur. If you are a restaurant/taqueria/taco truck owner and don't agree with my review, then invite me back for a 2nd chance... With that being said: Dont expect true authentic mexican food if you go to chipotle to get a burrito. If you keep that in mind it makes it a decent option when need be. All the ingrediants are very fresh. The steak is usually pretty chewy. The chicken is good with nice flavor. The bean selection is just black or pinto but both do have nice flavors. The rice is just white or brown cilantro nice not true mexican rice. The cheese usually does not melt. The hot salsa is veryyyy good and veryyy hot. I got to chipotle when need be and thats it, I prefer authentic mexican food. read more

I've given this chipotle location three chances for the online orders, and each time they have messed my order up. I order the same thing each time, and every single time they have messed it up. SUCH A DISAPPOINTMENT, can you not read the food ticket or what. I order the cauliflower rice bowl with chicken, no beans, sautéed vegetables, salsa, and extra lettuce. Each time I have gotten guacamole on my burrito bowl and no lettuce. The first time they gave me beans which I never order in my bowl, and no chicken. This chipotle location is a hot mess. My organization ordered a catered lunch and when I went to pick it up everything was prepared, timely and efficient. But more importantly, all of the employees were super friendly! Especially Jacque (hopefully I spelled that right) was so kind and helpful. I parked my car a little too far to bring everything to, and he offered to walk the food there with me and when I said I didn't want him to have to do that, he said instead he could watch my food while I pulled my car up. He then helped me get the food to my car and went over everything that was included in the order. He is a real gem there and if you ever need to order a large lunch, I would request his help! The best thing to happen to El Cerrito since Trader Joes! Who doesn't love Chipotle?! The food is delicious, the animals are (supposedly) treated humanely, and the service is good. The interior reminds me of Las Vegas. It has a very modern appearance with metal and lights scattered around. They also have outdoor seating with heaters. My only complaint is the parking lot is tough to get in and out of, but they have lots of street parking as well as parking in the nearby El Cerrito Plaza read more

Great for kids - the kids meal is right-sized and comes with lowfat milk (as one of the choices). Few options overall - you'd think that would mean short lines. Uh, no. Luckily my kids were unbelievably patient. Next time I may call ahead (although it is not clear if you can skip the line if that is the case). I must say I thought I wouldn't like Mexican fast food but I have to admit, I'm a bit addicted to this place. My favorite is to get the tacos (corn tortillas are so much more flavorful than the flour and healthier). You should definitely ask to add corn, it makes the tacos even that much better. But after reading all the negative reviews, I'm inclined to stand up because THIS IS THE BEST CHIPOTLE EVER. Yeah I said it. - This Chipotle is super consistent and as a returning customer, I really appreciate that. - The workers are always friendly and they perfectly construct my order every single time. EVERY TIME. - The bathrooms are always very clean, which is a good indicator that the kitchen is too. - The wait is never too long (especially compared to other locations) Chipotle is my favorite and this location makes me happy. I've visited dozens of Chipotles all over the U.S. because I'm crazy like that and honestly, this location can't be beat. read more

Hello twice in the last month I have had a bad experience here with the workers who are so rude for no reason, not necessarily towards me. I was just a witness to it both times. I let it go the first time, because I thought maybe she was just having a bad day (we all have those) but the second time was a different person. It's not ok. It was food, but I can't say much more for my recent visit to this Chipotle. The vegetarian burrito I got consisted of little more than rice, beans, limp green peppers, and onions and it still set me back $7.85 with tax. I visited this restaurant for the sake of convenience because I had a little time and had missed lunch. I had low expectations, but even those weren't met. The tortilla and foil were wrapped poorly and I had to wait for a manager to be summoned from the back before being able to pay. No napkins were included in the bag and no chips or salsa were provided with the burrito, a courtesy extended in even the most lowly independent burrito shop. I placed an online order for two burritos. One of the burritos was my sons so it was very basic. My burrito had a few more additions. To my surprise when I cut my burrito I guess they didn't have the time to make it or wanted to be funny because there was NOTHING but about 3 cups of rise 1/2 pinto beans and 1/2 black beans. It's a pandemic, I literally paid $22 for some rice and tortilla shells. I just hate when businesses get away with treating people this way and running off with their money. I placed a call to speak with a manager to resolve the issue and I guess he was so busy messing up orders that he couldn't come to the phone. And when I called back the team member all of a sudden could t hear me. If you can go to the Berkeley or Pinole location please do. There's nothing really special about this location...just the typical Chipotle experience. Ordered the steak burrito for lunch today and service was quick (the line was short). It's true that you get more food when ordering a bowl. The person in front of me ordered a bowl and was given two scoops of meat while I was given only one small scoop. The steak and rice were both undercooked which made eating the burrito quite a challenging experience. One of the ladies at the counter was nice enough to cut the burrito in half for me when asked. One of the stars is for the nice shaded outdoor seating area and lots of Tabasco sauce bottles to choose from. Come here only if you're in a hurry and need a quick bite to eat. read more

I went in yesterday in the afternoon, and the young lady that helped me was the sweetest. I went in and it was extremely busy the workers were working as fast as they could to help everyone in there. When it was my turn the young lady even apologized to me for having to wait but I understand that this is there job. I was astonished to hear she was only 16.
