Meats were only just room temp. and very dry. Maybe sitting too long. The metal cookie sheets used for plates are thoroughly disgusting. They need to use plates that can be run in a dishwasher. The inside raised edges of our cookie sheets had dried bits of food debris that were left by a previous eater. Once we saw that, we were done eating and did not take home a doggy bag. Tables and chairs were "sticky" and need a deep cleaning many times per day. Not sure if we would come back again. read more

Not only was the meat absolutely fantastic! It was delivered on time and at a reasonable fee. It's more of a takeout restaurant. Only 2 tables to share seating with other people. Few seats at the bar. Only serves beer and wine. Does not just sale meat Togo. You have to buy a whole big meal. The service was great and the meat was good. read more

The owners/ chef were friendly and knowledgeable and helpful in deciding gluten and dairy friendly items. The BBQ and sauces was super tasty. The sides were delicious. Went in because there was no line and we were pretty hungry. The hostess was on the phone and told us she would be right with us. She made several trips to the bar area and helped a customer with a pick up order. During this time we were told twice more that she would be right with us. Cutting to the chase, we got seated after a few more minutes while a table was being cleaned. The server came to offer water after about 5 minutes. She gave us ample time to consider the beverage selection, like really ample. We placed our drink order and she zipped off, though we were ready to order food, too. A couple trips to the bar to make drinks for walk in customers and other tables, we had our drinks and she was ready to take our order. They have an open kitchen and the entire bar and restaurant had magically cleared out. We watched our order be quickly fired and placed for pickup. They called out the order. We waited and made eye contact with the Cook line staff. He called the order out again, loudly. The server was resting during the lull and couldn't hear. The lead cook came to our table and asked what we ordered. He confirmed that was our order up and I asked him to just bring it out, which he did. He apologized and told us it was the servers second day and she was still training. I asked who was training her, nobody that I saw. The meat was outstanding and plentiful. My roll was straight out of some bag and served without preserves, butter, or honey. We had to ask for utensils. BBQ joints often offer towelettes or warm towels for post meal tidying. No dice. I will come back for the great BBQ (1/2 rack of baby back, a 5 pack of pork tostadas, and a brisket sandwich). The top notch fries are somewhere between potato chips and 1/4" slices of potato. Golden brown and sometime looking like mini sopapillas! Great location w live music outside at Indian Creek Plaza during the summer. Nothing kills my mood faster than being forgotten when I am spending $65 to feed 3 people at a bar. Consider the meager tip part of your training. read more

I really love this place! consistently excellent food, my favorites are their fish bites, are wonderful! (very light breading and full of flavor.). Chef Kris's brisket is absolutely amazing as well, so flavorful, really spectacular I think. (For me, though the bbq sauce is extremely good, the flavor of the brisket by itself is so wonderful, it doesn't require sauce, so I enjoy it plain. We tried the brisket family item ($70+) the meat had 40% fat, the diner rolls (6) were mini size. $84 (including tip) for 4 people was not worth it. Was in town for a college visit and stopped by the Chop Shop BBQ. It was AMAZING! The bbq Brisket fries with chili were insanely delicious, and the potato bombs were awesome. I hate to give poor reviews. In this case I can't in all honesty give a good one. Me and my wife stopped in for lunch and had the brisket sandwiches. These had to be the driest most flavorless sandwiched we have ever tried . They were dry and had no smoke flavor. The coleslaw was very bland for being a chipotle flavored dish. I did not think it possible but even the bark on the brisket was bland. For the price there are other choices which I have had that are much better. This could be an exception but this is my honest opinion on this visit. read more

Ordered the sampler platter. Let's start with the good. The sausage was great. Sides-Beans had no flavor and coleslaw was like eating cabbage both needed better seasoning. The ribs were dried out they put them in a little oven to warm them up and they were really chewy. The brisket was fatty and had a very strong taste to it. First the staff: absolutely amazing. You can truly tell these folks enjoy their jobs. Friendly, welcoming and excellent servers. The food: we have been several times and everything has always been perfect. The daily specials are out of this world! Tonight was a brisket sloppy joe. The flavor was amazing and the meat tender. The owner makes different sausages that are always yummy. The hatch green Chile is our favorite. Don't miss their Cinco de Mayo specials- they are freaking awesome. The sweet potatoes are so good. The fries are great, as are the beans. Whenever we have guests visit, chop shop is our go to. Never disappoints. Patio seating overlooking Indian Creek provides for a relaxing and enjoyable atmosphere too. These guys are killing it and everything is fairly priced for the quality, taste, and portion size. I don't know how there are only 4 stars average here, it should be 6! Last night's dinner was such an amazing experience. From the moment we walked through the door, we were warmly welcomed and taken care of. Then we ate...holy hell this is some of the best BBQ I have had in a long time. I had the ribs which were unreal, my girlfriend had the pulled pork cheesy sandwich and loved it! By the end of our evening, we felt like family. Personally, I am not a BBQ person, but Chop shop offers a complete game change to bbq flavor! Absolutely delicious. The entire staff was super friendly and fun to talk to. The lady at the front has awesome recommendations so if it's your first time dining at chop shop, ask her what she'd have. I had the big cheese sandwich with pulled pork. Sooooo yummy! Tastes amazing with their chop shop sauce! The butternut squash macaroni and cheese was different but still pretty good. Hubby ordered a sampler platter and loved every bit of his food too! It was very hot inside, AC not working. There were flies all over the place and no where to sit. Ordered the Sampler Platter and was very disappointed. The chorizo was black and dry inside, almost powdery and not edible. The brisket was mostly fat, tough and bland. The pulled pork was dry and very little flavor. The ribs were raw in middle, all fat and very tough. After all the hype of this place and wanting to try it out we were very disappointed and will not be coming back. read more

Oh man.. this place does some fantastic BBQ. The Pit Master Sampler was so tasty. The ribs were good, the pulled pork was great, the brisket was so soft and so flavourful, and the sausage was excellent. I hit up the smoked butternut squash Mac & Cheese for a side, and it was delicious! The chop sauce is good, but the Cadillac sauce is where it's at for me. This has to be the worst BBQ I've had. They don't even have a smoker. It was EXPENSIVE and not as advertised. We ordered the pulled pork sandwich and brisket plate. No way the three paper thin slices of brisket were 1/2 pound as advertised and the side of Cole slaw was horrible. I've had better pulled pork for 1/2 the price. Located near the Indian Creek plaza...this small shop offers some great food. The restaurant is small and cozy, but not short on flavor. Ribs to pulled pork shoulder, to bbq chicken, the flavors are delicious and with the offer of two sauces and either served wet (with sauce on it) or dry, they both compliment the BBQ. Table seating is limited to two large tables inside or sidewalk seating in the plaza, our party of four shared a table with two lovely ladies for lunch inside. Drinks are limited to the bar or canned, but they have a good selection, so I'm not complaining. The word is out that this is good BBQ, so they can get busy, but well worth it! read more

My husband and I visited the Chop Shop on a Sunday night for dinner and were really impressed! The place was busy, and only two seats at their kitchen counter top were open so we took them. Eric, the chef, took care of us up there and it was a very delicious and wonderful experience! Best seats in the house. I was even more surprised to see they had options for vegetarians/vegans like myself, and was able to order a spicy bbq jackfruit sandwich. SO GOOD! Their portions are BIG and full of amazing flavor (all sauces are made in-house). My husband tried a few different things, and Eric also gave us samples to try, so we were definitely in a food coma once we were done. We really appreciated the hospitality and service, as well as the variety of plant based options. Good craft beer selections too! Excellent!! We came to see the lights and wanted to try Chop Shop, it did not disappoint. Pulled pork sandwich was unbelievable. I also tried the cauliflower mac-n-cheese which was creamy and delicious. The kids had the student special which was a sandwich, side, and drink. They chose the tri-tip and said it was very tasty. There is not very much seating at the restaurant but we were able to stand at the counter. The waitress said the restaurant is designed to be an order out concept. This is a great idea unless you are visiting from Boise. We will definitely go back, most likely in the summer when we can sit outside. read more
