Came here two years ago so it's time to update my review. Like last time, I had a nice meal but it lacked the "wow" factor. Last time I got the crab roll and this time I got the butter garlic shrimp. 12 jumbo prawns came in a bowl filled with garlic butter. Three slices of toasted French bread went with it. Last time I got the clam chowder and found it bland with few claims. Today I gave the smoked salmon chowder a try. I liked the salmon chowder much better but it still lacked flavor. Could have had a stronger smoked salmon flavor. Got the same berry dessert as last time and liked it both times. Service isn't great. Was seated and ordered taken but not much follow up. Still a solid option in Fairbanks.

Food was so good we ate here twice! Day 1 - Swiss Mushroom Steak Sandwich and New England Chowder. Both were excellent, but the Swiss Mushroom sandwich is what made want to go back for another meal the next day! Day 2 - I decided to try the Philly Cheesesteak and my wife had the Crab Roll. The Cheesesteak was also very good, but I think I'd pick the Swiss Mushroom over it (if I had to pick... but it was close). The rolls used for these sandwiches are excellent. I did get a couple of bites of my wife's Crab Roll. Tons of crab (but a hefty price at just under $40). I thought it was good, but I think I would have liked it a little better if it was served warm instead of cold.

Tasty is all my son keeps saying... Food was great. Crab Roll was perfect, toasted wonderfully and just the right flavors. My son had the wonton soup and was in heaven. My husband loved the French Dip- he said that the meat was sliced thick and flavored wonderfully. We also tried the potstickers, and crab Rangoon. I wasn't a favorite of the Rangoon but my husband and son loved them both. The chowders were perfect and worth coming here to try. Servers seemed to be in top of their tables, getting food and cleaning things up. They were nice and helpful. Great music and atmosphere. We would definitely come back. A little over priced but the food was good.

Croissant was really flavorful - bacon crispy - fresh sprouts - but I can tell this is bagged processed meat nothing sliced fresh - Costco square ham. The chowder was ok... served like warm so it got cold and gluey very quickly. I couldn't finish a cup because by the time I ate a few bites of sandwich it was cold. Service was great. Potstickers were obviously house made and really good.. but 20$ for 10 is pretty nuts. All in all this place is a solid 3.

Let me just say this is the best crab I think i've ever tried in my life. I've eaten a lot of crab but this one was sooooo fresh and soft it was perfect ! The service was great too really friendly. The place was small but not like unreasonably small. Just normal eatery you know. It honestly took a while to get and the price was about $100 a lb market price but wow i'm so so happy I didn't get impatient(it's not even their fault i was jet lagged). Easily could've and would've got more. Excellent King Crab!!

We were sat immediately, and asked our drink orders right off the bat, which was nice. The Snickers iced coffee was pretty good. Would order it again. I got the halibut corn chowder and there was nothing too special about it. I wish there was bigger chunks of halibut in there and I added salt and pepper which brought it to life a little bit. The crab roll was pretty good. It came with butter and ranch, I tried both, butter was my favorite. For 36$ I'll pass on this one next time though. My wife built her own sandwich which she says was really good. The restaurant was pretty busy, the service was still good. I would go back to try something else.

This is a nice and well loved local establishment with excellent food! We weren't too hungry and were leaving the next day so decided to go small and order more if need be. We both enjoyed cups of two of their three chowders. I had the smoked salmon chowder and my wife ordered the New England clam chowder. Both were delicious and hearty! We then split a large order of 12 potstickers which filled us up! I really wanted to try their Philly Cheesesteak, but they don't offer them until 4pm...! Sad face. Oh well. Next time. The servers were both nice and stopped by occasionally to see how we were doing, if we needed refills, etc. the space was simple, nice and warm and a treat to come sit in from the -34F weather outside...!

So I came here because of the reviews and honestly it didn't disappoint. We ordered the garlic butter shrimp it came with French bread. And also ordered the smoked salmon chowder. The shrimp kinda came out looking like a soup lol but don't drink it like one! Not sure if it was worth $25 but it was a good experience. If you just eat the shrimp alone it's good but if you wanna go next level..... butter the French bread and dip it in the butter sauce cut one shrimp in half squeeze a lil lemon on it and put it on the bread... THEN EAT. holy cow Batman!!!! Freakin delish!!!! The chowder honestly I was hoping it would be a lil more Smokey flavored. But it was still good needed a lil more pepper and salt but once we added it it was good. Not like an out of this world thing but tasty. We also ordered a croissant to go with the chowder which was yummy. Flakey buttery and good sized. Cute lil place very quaint. Decently priced. Friendly staff.

Chowder house has amazing food and service. All the food we got was delicious. We especially loved the crab rolls (disclosure: we are from the dessert). It was the freshest and juiciest crab I've ever had. The server did warn us it's been a bad season for crab fishing so the price is $$$$, but it was worth it since it came with two. I shared with my husband and a hot bowl of chowder. Pot stickers were also very good. Great lunch! Crayons brought out for the little ones. House made pecan apple pie was bomb!

This place is Underrated. We absolutely love the food here! Food: 1.Halibut chowder : Creamy awesomeness. Generous proportion as I felt like there were bits of halibut in every single bite. 2. Salmon chowder: Delicious too. But my fave here was the Halibut chowder. 3. Salmon sandwich build your own : my ingredients were croissant, lettuce, cucumber, sprouts, tomato, provolone, cream cheese, mayo, dijon, guacamole. SO Good. Service : Friendly and Excellent Ambiance: Casual

Fushimi is special, tucked into a small strip mall with somewhat limited parking. It has a very fun interior, themed almost like any other Japanese steakhouse. The dining experience was great and our waiter was even better. He even chatted with me about my experience in Japan, his experience in the states, and let me practice the very little of the language I still remember from high school (it's been a long while). But the food...if I lived here, I'd be a regular. And quite honestly, I wasn't expecting to enjoy it as much as I did. We ordered a few things, including the salmon teriyaki dinner. It came out sizzling (literally) but was still perfectly cooked. It wasn't dry or super fishy, just absolutely delicious served over a bed of vegetables with a side of steamed rice. We also ordered a few rolls which, for the life of me, I can't remember the name of because I was too busy actually enjoying my food. Overall, a great dining experience and I can't wait to visit again.

Although it was a bit of a tourist destination, the food was good and was plentiful. I really liked the Prime Rib! Salmon was good too. Only a few draw backs, the food is located outdoors and only the salad bar had a roof over the top. It did rain for a while and we had to make a choice to either stay undercover (hungry) or get wet (along with the food on your plate) while waiting in line to get your main courses. The main courses included Salmon, Prime Rib and a Cheesy Cod Bake. You also got unlimited non-alcoholic beverages and one dessert. Other drinks were available for a fee. Many of the people arrive on buses, so they do get really busy when each load is dropped off. Lines can be a bit long. The entrance was kind of cool, it was through an underground mine shaft. If he tries this crap again, I will keep on editing this until the end of time. Because he took $208 from me and gave me $.13 in product. I asked that man at the grill to cook me a piece of fish medium rare. He told me he would not. Matter of fact, I went down to the prime rib area where they were cutting off a piece of medium and I asked for medium rare. He tried cutting it off the same spot. I said that's not medium rare he said it was I said fine knowing well I was going to write this review. Now you wanna play the game if you respond to me and I respond you you go right ahead and we'll do this for the rest of time. But you don't ever wanna walk into this place and spend your money on this crap. The Alaska Salmon Bake in Fairbanks comes with a reputation that the food unfortunately cannot support. Both the salmon and the cod were cooked far past any reasonable standard -- reduced to a dry, flaking consistency closer to fudge than fresh fish, with none of the moisture, fat, or flavor that world-class Alaskan seafood deserves. When I requested that my salmon be prepared medium rare -- the correct preparation for fish of this quality -- I was flatly refused. This is a liability shield masquerading as a culinary policy. Alaska runs some of the finest wild salmon on earth through these waters, and to reduce it to the same overcooked fate you'd find at a casino buffet is nothing short of malpractice. Properly prepared salmon should be translucent and silky at the center, the fat still doing its work, with a clean sear on the outside. What was served bore no resemblance to that standard. Holland America books this excursion as a signature Alaskan experience. Travelers deserve to know that the fish -- the entire point of the meal -- is cooked without skill or care, and no accommodation is made for guests who know how it should be eaten. Skip this and find a Fairbanks restaurant willing to treat their product with respect. You don't get to go on top of my review without an alternate response to me. You people knew full well what you were doing and how you were doing it. I asked every person there to cook beef fish, medium rare everyone and then said absolutely not so you can go to hell. And if you want to keep on going, I got the rest of my life to make you my cause so go ahead make my day.

When we arrived, we found out that you'd need a reservation to dine in the main dining hall, so we ended up going to the Saloon side where we had to find our own seats. We sat near the pool table, and the chairs were super unstable. The staff were fine but clearly seemed busy and understaffed. It took a long time for them to bring us water and take our order. I tried flagging the waitress 2-3 times when she was passing by and felt very ignored especially as I've made eye contact with her a few times. We ended up ordering the fried seafood combo and the seafood chowder, and it ended up taking at least 20min to come out (even the soup). The dishes were all very salty and definitely needed a lot of water to go with the food. Overall, definitely not a place to go before a flight since you might not be able to get in and out very quickly, and the food was really just alright for the price. Perhaps the main dining room experience would be better but I still wouldn't recommend it given the food quality and service.
