I do appreciate that there is a Chowking near me. Otherwise, I'd have to go to the Philippines to go to Chowking. Service was wonderful. I came just before the dinner rush. I don't know how long Chow King has offered breakfast but I got to try their breakfast entrees today. They offered tocino, longanisa and bangus. Their plates all come with garlic rice and egg. The portions are great. The egg was over medium by the time I got my order, I didn't mind it but some might. I didn't wait too long for my takeout orders. My family used to like this place in Milpitas. I went there with my husband today. He ordered the Mami which he said had no flavor, was bland unlike what it used to be. The siopao Amador we bought and brought home wasn't good, again unlike before. My son said the one he had was full of fat instead of the meat he's used to. The siopao I ate also had asado filling, half of it was fat. I spit out the fat. We won't be buying this again at this Chow King place. Service was ok. The table we first went to wasn't clean. It's inside a marketplace style area where Seafood Market is the largest store inside the place. Parking is easy. I don't go to this area often and will most likely not go there for a long while. read more

I went here waiting for an eye appointment. I decided to eat at this place. I wanted the two item combo it was explained to me that it came with chicken and rice. Instead I ended up with noodles chicken and rice and I could have substituted the noodles for something else but I wasn't told that by the grumpy mean rude older lady that was at the counter. Food was okay the service was horrible the older lady was trying to take my order while helping somebody with their order at the same time and not letting the other employees help that person. It was pretty sad because a gentleman had his ticket and was trying to pick up his food and the woman that was helping me at the same time was trying to tell him he needed to pay when he had his receipt in his hand and the right number for his order causing chaos and really rude towards that gentleman also. The other employee that was at the register had apologized to me for what the older lady had done I felt bad for her because the older lady was a bully on the registers. I ordered food for delivery on their Chowking website. Received one of the orders where the food was everywhere in the plastic bag. Called to complain and I was told I should take it up with DoorDash. I said but I didn't order thru DD otherwise I would've called them. I was given to the "supervisor" and she said the same thing. Issue wasn't resolved. Called 2 days later and spoke again to the same supervisor and now she tells me I need to call my bank. I said what is my bank going to do about it. She repeats again that I need to call DD. If you go on their website, nowhere does it say that if you plan to have it delivered it doesn't show you any option who the delivery service would go through. See the attached photo. Bottom line, know what your website actually says otherwise you just sound ignorant and dumb. Both people I spoke to shouldn't be in customer service as they don't have any professionalism. No longer will I eat there or have anything delivered again. I'd rather spend my money elsewhere. Keep your 2.7 rating. As a filipino, you're a disgrace to our people especially the way the supervisor spoke. read more

Beef noodle soup. This is such a disappointment for $11. If you're watching your blood pressure don't have this because the broth is very x3 salty! I was able to count my cabbage pieces and I had 5, 2 small beef meat and noodles well I guess about right. I had to add a small cup of water to my broth btw. 2 chonky pieces of chicken with chow mein and rice and a soda to go for $13? A steal in this day and age. Now I really don't expect good service or upscale environment at this price. This is a fast food establishment in a small ethnic mall. But the chicken is banging. Light and crispy. The chow mein is also very good. I can forgive the rest of the meal. The food is delicious most especially the siopao and chicken. Service was fast. The ambiance is nice.

They had a sign "fresh food takes time to prepare". They weren't kidding. The wait was a little irritating but when I purchased 2 order of 6 get 1 free, and get 5 on my 2nd order, now I was upset for a second. Funny how they strategically placed the complete tray on top, now I got upset for a minute. The guy in front of me lifted the tray and I wondered, wow he's very observant, I should have done the same. In the back of my head, how often do these your employee do this and are they doing it intentionally ? I understand we're all human and we make mistakes. Got a broccoli beef bowl which is affordable and tasty. I think the cuts of meat are thicker now, they used to be thinner which I kind of prefer. Also got halo halo which has ube ice cream, crushed ice, ube jam, milk, and sweetened assorted beans and jellies. The beans and jellies were on the skimpy side, there were barely enough to even cover the bottom. The ice would be better if it was more finely crushed, it was like eating cold crunchy glass shards. Chowking is childhood memory for many Filipinos, and it's mine for sure. I never realized that Chowking was a Filipino take on Chinese cuisine! Who knew? Settled within a plaza with seafood city at the center, chowking is one of the big 3 Filipino eateries- other than Goldilocks and Red Ribbon. This venue is a bit smaller with indoor seating in front of the cashier area and back seating with larger tables. The place is quiet but attracts many Filipino diners to sit and enjoy. My family decided to opt in for their 2 piece entree laureate deal that comes with 2 sides of rice and noodles, 2 pieces of chicken, and 1 meat for $13.99; it's not a bad deal in variety but could have better serving sizes. The fried chicken can't compare to jollibee in flavor or crispyness, but it was alright. Super salty for my liking and they didn't have gravy either. Standard steamed white rice but their noodles were actually good. For my meat, I got sweet and sour pork- the meat was warm but the texture was a bit hard to chew and didn't have that much flavor except the sweetened coating. Their take on Chinese shumai is filled with beef, so be aware if you decide to order this in lieu of dim sum. Nice place to grab a quick bite. read more

Been coming here for quite some time. Over the weekend, my family was having dinner with my brother in law and his family and my nephew said he wanted to try halo halo. It was 8PM on a Saturday, Chowking closes at 9. My son and I got there by 8:30 and apologized for coming in so late. Then asked if it would be possible to order 7 halo halo's. The cashier went to the lady off to the side whom was currently making 2 halo halo to ask if there was enough ingredients to make my order. She didn't even hesitate, she enthusiastically nodded yes. We waited maybe 10 minutes if that. I thanked them profusely and the lady whom had a manager presence kindly suggested that we could call in an order if we wanted it to be ready by the time we got there. We tried their Bundle feast 2 (pancit with 10 pcs fried chicken [half original and half spicy]). All we could say is that the chicken is crispy, but way too salty and dry. Pancit is tasteless; it has lots of fishballs, some cabbage, and 2 tiny pieces of chicken... lol. And their siomai, I don't even know what to say...it looked and tasted gross; thank goodness we only ordered 4 pcs. I give them 2 stars for prompt service. First time I've ever had any food from Chowking, and got it delivered via GrubHub. We got the Meaty Asado Siopao and Bundle Feast 2, which has fried chicken (all original) and Pancit Canton. The "Meaty Asado Siopao", we would call banh bao, was pretty much as expected, except I was surprised it was flat like a sandwich. No big deal, it tasted exactly as expected, very good. The fried chicken, comparing to other fried chicken that we eat like Von's and Popeye's, was excellent and stood up very well in comparison. I didn't get the spicy, just original, so I assume "spicy" is mildly spicy, not actually spicy. The flavor stood out. The Pancit Canton, what we would call chow mein, typical of many types we've had many, many times over the years, was actually tastier than we typically have. Its taste stood out more than expected. It actually had a few pieces of chicken, which I didn't expect because the bundle comes with fried chicken, and had less cabbage than expected. Overall it was a good substitute for rice if you aren't having rice with the other foods. Bottom line, if you want it at all spicy, group it up with your favorite spicy sauce like Sriracha or Frank's Red Hot. Don't expect mainstream Chinese food to be spicy, even if they say it's "spicy". However, none of this food was bland at all, unlike some Chinese restaurants, it was all very tasty. I would have knocked off a point for the very little amount of vegetables in the pancit, but there were honestly way too many positive points for all this food that make up for that. read more
