My family went to this establishment to get halo-halo but was disgusted when we sat down to see the manager come to the garbage to just push it down. It's the afternoon and you would think that the garbage would be watched closer than it was. Within minutes it became bigger and bigger. Looking at the counter all the employees were just standing ,two ( one was the manager) we're counting the till for a money change while the others were just standing around. My mom waved them to come over to clean, but they just looked at her and continued to just stand. I finally got up, walked over while they were still counting money and three were just standing and was told to hold on. After a few minutes, I finally told them my mom was disgusted with the garbage pile up and that it should be cleaned. One lady gave me a look while the manager smiled and told one of the standing employees to go clean. Not cool. Easily the best Chinese food I've ever had in a mall, & lots of different things I haven't seen in chinese restaurants (because it's Filipino). The menu presentation was great; usually you go into a Chinese or Japanese takeout restaurant the the pictures of the food look utterly unappealing. Everything looked good here. I recommend getting pork siomai & sesame balls with whatever you get; one's sweet & crunchy, the other soft & savory. I'd come back just for those. We tried the asado siopao; first pork bao I've ever had that actually tasted like it was really pork. So this place is right next door to a good sized asian supermarket & directly across from a Filipino bakery. read more

chowking... that's how i felt eating this mess of a food. choking. this place has got to be joking. i've dined at Chowking in the PI before and i'm very disappointed to say that the "american" version is a disgrace to the name/label. The noodles were over cooked and soggy in texture and salty in taste. The chicken was overly dry and bland - i had to take in gulps of water to wash out the dryness. and the so-called roast duck was dried out with no meat. it was like suckling on bones just to get some flavor of heat lamp out into your mouth. the only thing reasonable edible was the rice and even that was bland and not jasmine thai rice. terrible food. i know its fast food but even taco bell at its worst tasted better than chowking's best. read more

Wow what happened? The last time we were at Chow King the line was crazy but manageable, upon our most recent visit, it was eerily quiet for a Saturday lunch hour, while the line at Jolibee was pretty long. Our order was taken pretty fast, but the food took a while, and we were afraid we were going to miss our movie. Once we got our food we were pretty disappointed. I got the bangus, with a fried egg, and rice. The fried egg, was not runny as we remembered, and it was cooked like the McDonald's Egg McMuffin. I was really looking forward to the runny yolk with my bangus (fried milk fish) and rice. The Mr's meal was disappointing as well, he said the longanisa (sausage) tasted off, and the pancit wasn't very good, the only thing I liked was the lumpia. We didn't finish our meals, and left going to the movies feeling more satisfied with a tub of popcorn. read more

Now I understand this is the only Chowking around, which surprises me, since wouldn't you think that would mean they would offer bigger and better options? Small serving sizes. Unfilled Halo Halo. Expensive prices for the portions. Not to mention the service is a bit "womp womp." I'd really really really like to give this place more stars since it's the only Chowking here. I went there for the first time because of a very long line at the South Center Jolly Bee. I had the Chicken Mami and my with had the Chicken Lariat. We shared each other's meal as usual and were very happy. The Chicken Lariat was far superior to Jolly Bee's Chicken Joy and the Chicken Mami was out standing. We were so pleased that we got a Bulalo soup to go for later. The Bulalo was delicious as well. From now on we will be going straight to Chow King instead of Jolly Bee. Jolly Bee is all hype. Filipino's go crazy for any Filipino related franchises in America. You can only find Chowking in Washington State at Southcenter Mall next to Jollibee, Potato Corner, Seafood City, Valerio's and Red Ribbon. At first, you might think that Chowking isn't as good as Jollibee and Red Ribbon because of line difference, but being that I am from the Philippines and visit the homeland often I know that they are all equally good. I suggest ordering Taho (tofu in sugar syrup), Siopao (Filipino version of the Chinese Humbao) and any of the soups on the menu with a side of Tokwa't Baboy (tofu and pork soaked in Vinegar and Soy Sauce). I personally like eating at Chowking more than Jollibee because Chowking has more than just the typical fast food of the Philippines (Chicken, Rice, Fries, Potatoes and Gravy). They do serve Halo-Halo (MixMix dessert) here, but I like Jollibee's Halo-Halo much better. read more

This is located inside the Westfield mall in south center Tukwila by the seafood city grocery. It is across jolliebee. Parking can get really crowded as the Asian community comes here often and it's the only one in Washington state. I come here for the taho (soft tofu with tapioca pearls & syrup) sadly i didn't have it today. I ordered the chef choice with two chicken and some egg rice. While the chicken was crispy and all its okay...it isn't comparable to jolliebee as they have no gravy and it's more of a lumpia sweet sauce. Again I don't usually eat their chicken here I normally order taho & bola bola soapao because it's quick and it tastes good. If you're looking for a place to try a Filipino common fast food this is one of them. Just try to come when it isn't too busy. read more

Please don't hate me because I'm brutally honest about this place- but honestly, it's nothing to write home about. I've been here three or four times and I'm not a raving fan. I've convinced myself that the "next visit" will be much better- but I've struck out and I don't think I'll ever have that "next visit" again, unless of course my sister drags me there or my mom is craving for some Filipino fast-food. Went there last Saturday around 7 and the wait wasn't as bad. It was crowded with all the tables pretty much filled. We were greeted by a very friendly cashier and noticed someone always clearing off the tables as soon as one opened. We ordered the #11 which was the garlic chicken and chose the Bihon as the side. The chicken was good with the exception that every bite had a bone or cartilage. I've also tasted better Bihon but it was still good. We also ordered Palabok and was disappointed. It lacked flavor and preferred thicker noodles. My fiance ordered the King size Halo-Halo and he said it was really good. To be honest, there's other Filipino restaurants I would rather go to than here. The crowds, lack of variety and so-so tasting food is enough for me to go else where. read more

Chowking is another fast food chain that started in the Philippines some 28 years ago serving Filipino-Chinese fare. The menu includes breakfast plates, noodles, combination plates and steamed buns. I do like the beef wonton noodle soup, but do not really care for the other offerings - it is fast food version of Chinese food after all. I have only dined at Chowking once, but have returned a few times to purchase packs of their barbequed pork and chicken buns. Where to start, ok with the menu. Asked for the family chicken meal. Shows that you get chicken, veggies and noodles for the regular. Not the case, pic don't represent what you get. When got food only got chicken and additional sides added. No veggies or noodles. So to get the displayed $26.99 family meal really it is $40.00 plus tax. Then it took 25 minutes plus just to get the rest of the meal. Oh did I meant ion we got it for here. The seating area was dirty, no one was out cleaning or wiping off tables, drink stations was a mess. So our meal came with no dishes, no plastic ware. Only napkins. When we finally got the veggies we found out that they do have plates and plasticware. But not other customers had been given them either. So based on my first visit, I will not return. Food was just ok, greasy chicken, the halo halo was good. Service sucked. And there was no language barrier as I was with my Filipino friend. Bad service equals bad experience here. This is the 2nd time I tried Chowking. 1st time, I tried the chicken and I was impressed. It also comes with mushroom gravy. Chicken skin was so crunchy and tasty. I also tried the Wonton soup. That tasted okay, I was not wowed like the chicken. Soup broth was good, but I didn't like the way they chopped up the noodles. It makes it seem like there are lots of noodles, but when you slurp the noodles, you literally get cut short! My wife had the pancit noodles and that was okay also, I have tasted better. I'm not a big Filipino food fan, but their fried chicken with mushroom gravy was pretty good. Right now they have a promotion with 10 pieces of chicken (legs and thighs) with gravy for $9.99. I got the food to go, and by the time I brought it work, the chicken was still warm and crispy. We also got the boneless milkfish, pork adobo, and dim sum platter. The opportunity to be an early bird came on Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m. First stop was Jollibees but wasn't super wowed over the Southcenter menu vs. the webite that I've been drooling over. Over to Chowking. Ordered the beef wonton noodle soup, shanghai lumpia, shumai and a pork siaopao (sp?). They didn't start their fried chicken till 9:30 so back I sent to Jollibees. The soup tasted like something grandma would make, the beef tender and flavorful. Plenty of noodles, about 4 wontons and some greens finished it off. The shumai and lumpia were good. Sweet chili sauce instead of sweet and sour would have helped the lumpias. The pork bun was good and full of meat. They sell frozen ones, but you can't beat a freshly steamed bun. Despite countless and frequent trips to LA, and eating at other Filipino fast food joints from time to time down there, I never had Chowking until recently. I was in the area and craving some Filipino breakfast and figured one of the restaurants in the food court in the "Little Manila" corner of Southcenter mall might have some. I was right! The longanisa was good, although doesn't taste like what you're used to. The tocino, milk fish and garlic fried rice were all pretty decent too. They are friendly and they speak Tagalog. I got my food in less than 10 minutes and the soup was very satisfactory to my needs.
