We discovered a charming donut shop while exploring the complex. Unlike modern stores, this one has an old-fashioned charm, featuring a regular glass display filled with donuts and tables with sofas for seating. The owner was incredibly friendly, and we had a delightful conversation. There are plenty of donut variations ftom just plain donut with sugar to filled donut. We purchased some donuts and tried the custard -filled donut holes, which the owner mentioned are their best sellers. Both the donuts and the donut holes were delicious.

Okay y'all I've been kind of craving apple fritters since I kept seeing someone on TikTok go through the bay area donut shops to get apple fritters and well, my luck would have it, the boba shop I decided to get our weekly boba at was next to a donut shop and this girl just taught a pilates class so best I will be getting an apple fritter for sure. In short, it was crispy, a bit oily (but expected), a little dry on the edges, but good. L O C A T I O N This Christy's Donuts is located on N Capitol Ave in the neighborhood of Berryessa in San Jose. They do have parking shared with the other shops and restaurants. Parking was relatively easy and even their compact spots were fairly spacious for even my car. I N S I D E It's not huge inside but I was specifically wanting to go in and out fairly quickly as I was there for one thing. D O N U T S They still had a variety of items in the afternoon I arrived and well they had the apple fritter. I was absolutely tempted to get my favorite donut (an old fashioned), but I prevented myself from buying more than the apple fritter. The apple fritter was $3 and I paid in cash as I had it on hand. I took this large apple fritter back home and took a bite. It was soft, yet crispy. Had a nice cinnamon taste as well as a tang which made it hard to stop. It was like sweet and sour. Perhaps they use a sour cream for their batter. They had small pieces of apples and crisp edges which was a bit dry but that helped with the crispiness. You do taste the oil but it is deep fried so I can't fault them for the oiliness. S E R V I C E Folks there were quite friendly and I easily paid and got my item in a quick manner! O V E R A L L I'm not going to drive all the way here for a donut, but if you're in the area, it's a good one to get your donut needs as well as other donut-like items.

These are way better than bearded papa's IMHO not too sweet of a filling which is perfect !

These are the best donut hole puff pastries ever! Light and fluffy and I would recommend bringing cash as it's $8.99 a dozen or $9.99 CC Heads up order at least 3 dozen as they are bite size and the owners are the sweetest! Support local small family owned businesses

    Gotta have that Apple Fritter

I visited about an hour before closing and glad they still have a decent selection left. I found this donut shop has a cozy charm that makes it well worth a visit. The lady behind the counter was sweet and welcoming! Their donut puffs are one of their best sellers and recommend anyone to try them. They come with different filling... such as custard cream and blueberry jam. My personal favorite is the one filled with custard because I am not a fan of jelly donuts. I loved how light and airy the shell was and you get this rich custard cream oozing out in every bite. They're so addictive that it's hard to not eat past one. Their apple fritter was also good since I oved how crispy the edges were while it was not exactly too dense. Since it was not too doughy, it was the ideal size and I could taste the apple flavor in every bite. All the other donuts were pretty good so you can't go wrong with them. I am begging you to try their donut filled puffs ~ you won't regret it!

LOVE LOVE LOVE this place! The custard filled donut hole are the perfect amount of sweetness (as this is one of the highest forms of praise an Asian can give a dessert). These were a hit in my office and I think a box of 2 dozen only lasted about 15 minutes. The family running the shop are so nice, I've been back a couple of other times to try their other donuts too! They've also got plenty of seating so you can enjoy your food with your friends too.

Christy's Donuts in San Jose is a must-stop! The custard-stuffed donut holes were absolutely perfect--fresh, soft, and the filling was light and not too sweet. Great quality and flavor all around. I'll definitely be back for more!

Went Friday morning after my usual night shift and I've never seen the line so long. I think I waited about 40 mins, which was well worth it, than the usually maybe 5-10 max. Ended up getting my usual mix of glazed raised, chocolate raised, maple raised, and a couple daily special which was apple buttermilk which were all amazing as usual. These donuts have the perfect balanced texture of being fluffy and crispy on the outside. Service as usual is excellent. They're pretty fast at helping everyone with what they want which was surprising to see the line. I even asked if that had been the norm recently and they said ever since the start of the donut wars and it being a Friday morning, it has been. Overall, ever since I've started going here I've always said they hands down have the best donuts in the Bay. I live in the North Bay and commute down to work but every place I've tried can't keep up with Stan's. Even after walking across the street and grabbing Randy's for direct comparison. I just wish they were open a little later but that's part of their charm.

At some point, she basically just stopped responding to me on the phone. All of this over a $30 order that probably could've been resolved with the tiniest bit of customer service. Instead, I'm now annoyed enough to be writing a catty Yelp review and hoping for Peter Bakery's demise lol -- Edit: just to reiterate here, cause I hate being called a liar. We walked into a cozy, compact space with shelves filled with freshly baked breads, pastries, and prepared foods, all arranged in a way that makes you want to browse slowly even though the shop is small. The atmosphere has that simple, welcoming feel reminiscent of the small bakeries you find throughout Japan, focusing more on quality and variety than on a large café setup. Seating is limited, so it is better suited for grabbing something to go rather than spending a long time inside. The biggest draw here is the combination of Japanese baked goods and savory items. The bakery selection offers a great mix of sweet and savory options, with classics like melon pan standing out for its crisp sugary topping and soft interior that stays light without being dry. The curry bread and croquette bread are also popular choices, both feeling comforting and freshly made rather than overly sweet or greasy. The bakery items are reasonably priced, which makes it easy to pick up multiple things without feeling like you are spending too much, and the variety means there is always something new to try. The onigiri selection is what really makes Clover stand out compared to a typical bakery. They offer a variety of rice balls with fillings like spicy tuna, tuna mayo, and unagi, making it a great option for a quick breakfast or light meal. The rice is well balanced and the fillings give each onigiri a different personality. The spicy tuna has a nice kick that comes through without overpowering the rice, while the unagi adds a sweeter, more savory flavor that works especially well with the slightly salty rice. The onigiri are a practical, satisfying choice for anyone looking for something more substantial than a pastry. Beyond the baked goods and onigiri, Clover also has drinks, sandwiches, and desserts including cakes and other pastries. The strawberry cake is a nice lighter dessert option, and the overall menu gives plenty of reasons to visit whether you are looking for breakfast, a snack, or something to bring home. The offerings feel thoughtfully selected, with enough variety to cover different cravings without making the menu feel scattered. Service is friendly and efficient, and the small size of the shop adds to the charm. Since it has become a popular local spot, some items can sell out during busy hours, so arriving earlier gives you the best selection. Parking can also be a little challenging during peak times, but the quick grab-and-go style makes the visit easy to manage. Clover Bakery & Cafe is a great stop for anyone who enjoys Japanese bakeries. The combination of fresh breads, affordable prices, and unique savory options like onigiri makes it feel different from a standard bakery. It is the type of place where it is worth picking up a few items and trying a mix of everything, leaving you with the sense that you have found a little neighborhood gem that delivers on both quality and variety.
