I had a vendor that would bring these donuts to us at work and we were all hooked. I don't live by the shop but will find a reason to get over there just for their custard filled doughnut holes. Some things stay with you as you grow up. A diner type doughnut shop is one of those things. Christy's belongs on Route 66 in the 50's but only on the inside. The outside of the shop is 70's strip mall still. I've been here on multiple occasions since 1984. I don't know if the name has changed, but the inside of this place has not. It ranks up there in 'old school' along with the Kozy Kitchen in Milpitas (long torn down) or the Truckadero (also long torn down). Very good coffee, doughnuts and a place to sit and take account on ones things to be thankful for so that the days may continue to march by, but just not as quickly. read more

I have been searching for a long time for a great donut shop. Krispy Kreme has gone way downhill. Most places close before 2. My dad bought the custard filled donuts for me a while ago and I was hooked ever since. I thought they were chicken nuggets at first sight, but that just heightened my level of surprise. So it's less than $4 for a dozen. Much cheaper than if you only buy half. The outside is a bit sweet because of all that glaze, but it evens out with milk. The family that owns the place is very friendly and easy to talk to. I'm planning to go here again tomorrow morning so I can get my custard holes before they run out! read more

My rating is not based on the donuts since I'm not a donut person so I can't tell you if the donuts are good. The 5 stars is for the cream puffs (aka donut holes)!!! You can't really compare them to Beard Papa but I can say they are a cross between Beard Papa and the cream puffs you get in the frozen section at Costco. The custard inside is yummy. The price is good too. I went crazy once and bought too many and left them in the fridge for a few days. They don't last in the fridge. I actually tried freezing them once too and it wasn't too bad but fresh is still the best. I had a breakfast crossaint once and it was yummy too but you really can't mess up a crossaint with egg, ham and cheese. Anything with cheese is good! read more

My go-to donut place near my house! Every time I'm there, they're stocked with everything on the menu (except when you come near closing for obvious reasons). They are always nice and patient while you're picking out your dozen (or more) donuts. There's rarely ever a long line so you pretty much get in and out within 3 mins max! The donuts are big and crispy and soft and airy all at the same time! Delicious and way better than Krispy Kreme in my honest opinion! Would definitely recommend anyone to come here! read more

The place is quite old but don't let it fool you. It's not a hole in the wall though. I live literally a block away and love the convenience of walking to get my donut fix. We buy a dozen every weekend. Family favorite is the plain but yummy sugar donut. The jelly, chocolate sprinkles, and the powdered donuts are good too. Donuts are fluffy and the quality lasts 3 days! We get the regular dozen at 9.99. If you get their bigger donuts or their "fancy" donuts the price goes up 15.99 and 18.99 I believe which is expensive. Their fancy donuts aren't fancy. But if you like the usual suspects then you'll be just fine! read more

It is sort of hard to find if you are new, but man is this place good! I am new to the area, and my local joints used to be Evergreen Donuts and Mr Chaus, but man, this tastes just like ED! Which is my favorite by the way. Cash only for small orders and if you want to spend more for a bigger event, breakfast for the little kids/team, they do have credit cards. But I cannot remember if he charges for it.. Loads of seating and they are open 430-4! I do wish the guy would smile more and talk, I am new and am trying to find my "regular" customer feeling lol. The food is on, the service is polite, but the policy is draconian by today's American standards. First, there is an $8.00 minimum on credit purchases. Well, at least there's the option. I ordered the French vanilla coffee, which I found too sweet. I asked to exchange it for plain coffee. They wouldn't do it, instead charging me for a second coffee. I really should've just walked out at this point, but my morning head was fuzzy. Then, I got my sandwich. It's a cold sandwich they nuke. So, the croissant and bacon were soft rather rather than flaky crispy. My craving for two French crullers and coffee ended up costing me $18.00. Not worth it. read more

We went here this morning based on the yelp reviews. A few warnings 1. they only accept credit cards if your spend 8 dollars or more and then they charge you .89 to use the credit card. 2. the person who helped us spoke no English. I asked for a maple donut -- my husband said make that 2 -- and then she gave us three maple donuts. 3. I was pretty clear that we did not have cash AND ordered a half dozen. I then ordered a maple frosted donut. She grabbed a white small bag to stick the donuts in. I said may be please have a box? She threw our donuts and then angrily grabbed a box (umm I am pretty sure 6 frosted donuts would not go over well in a bag). I'm actually a fan of their custard French donut holes. They're light, full of custard, and sugary on the outside. I can actually eat half a dozen to myself, saving more for later. I haven't had any other donuts from here, though I am interested in trying them all. The place itself, when you walk in, has a small entry area to place your order or make your donut selection. They have a large area in front of this with a really good amount of tables and chairs. I noticed that there were a lot of people coming in and out ordering donuts to go. I may say though, that their eating area looks like a kinda nice place to just sit, relax, and enjoy a donut or two. I noticed there were a couple families in there doing just that- at 8am in the morning. So I love their custard French, would definitely come back for it again and again, I'm not too sure how their other menu items taste like, nor am I really familiar with their service (except that they're quick). read more

I'm from North Carolina, so I grew up on sweet tea, college basketball and Krispy Kremes. The Krispy Kremes, especially, seem largely hated here in California. (They're great, I swear!). Anyway, some old friends were in town and, of course, local donuts were on the menu. The donuts were delicious but different in texture from KK and you always have a soft spot for what you grew up with. Definitely a neighborhood gem! Donuts are well made with great consistency and everything is delicious. Definitely recommend the custard-filled donut holes. You will get so much delight biting into the puffy dough and tasting that creamy custard. What a combination. Traditional glazed and chocolate standard are great go to choices as well. The glaze doesn't crumble and you're not left with a heavy taste of sugar coating over your teeth. Didn't stay to eat but the place had plenty of seating area that looked like an old ice cream parlor of a western film era. The donut counter was the standard display food case.
