Made a reservation for Friday at 5pm and it was pretty empty. Bar seating only. Service was great and atmosphere was higher end than I thought it would be. Upon arriving, we noticed that the menu is different from their website. Apparently they changed it 2 days ago which was disappointing because we wanted to try the steak and seafood combo. We ended up getting the A5 combo which was $88 and the portions were very small. Flavors were good but nothing extraordinary and unfortunately didn't have that melt in your mouth experience when it came to the meat. It was pretty chewy. We wouldn't come back but it was good to experience.

Wagyu sushi is honestly not something I had ever considered (unless the wagyu is on a piece of uni / toro lol), but this spot offers just plain raw meat on rice which I thought to be a bit odd until I thought about it more. The quality of meat paired with the amount they serve and the toppings are amazing here! They've completely changed my mind on what a handroll should be. Even their non-meat pieces which are seafood focused are also delicious! A few pieces go a long way. I came for mother's day and they even gave my mom a rose - talk about great service. Only gripe was that they were pretty slow when we wanted to order anything or get the check despite only 2 other parties in the entire restaurant and multiple waiters.

One of the best hand roll spots I've had! Love how you can see all the chefs make the rolls in front of you at the sushi counter. You can definitely tell they use premium ingredients. Definitely a great spot for date night and I'd recommend + return. Good experience There are a-la carte menu with appetizers and hand rolls and two sets: one is fish&meat mixed ($69) another is dedicated to wagyu ($88). Handrolls themselves are rather big: less rice, more filling, which is good. Appetizers are fresh. For drinks there are sake options, wines, cocktails (low-abs as well). The places are located on the counter, so you can see how dishes were prepared, meat grills just in front of you. Staff is friendly and welcoming.

A nice place for "not full enough." I mean, it's a handroll restaurant. Good place for starter. The next stop is to find a ramen bar and swallow those greasy noodles up!

We had a fantastic time at Chubby Nori !! Best hand-rolls i've ever had, ingredients are extremely fresh and bring tons of flavor in every bite. The ambience is incredible, server was attentive and knowledgeable, drinks were also delicious! 10/10 highly recommend for a date or a group of friends. Will 100% be back, this place is incredible definitely the newest gem in town.

Decent A5 hand roll experience, phanomon services, highly recommened!!! Very new restaurant, we'll be back

    Wagyu and tartare

The food was overall delicious. Wagyu was cooked to perfection. The hamachi was fresh. Sushi rice was perfectly done. The fries were great. My only complaint was the truffle edamame.. I would not recommend. Very plain and just tasted like regular smegular salted edamame... also took foreverrrr to come out. Like it came out half way through our meal. Not when a STARTER is supposed to come out. The service was lacking. We sat for maybe 15 minutes before anyone came and asked for our order. One of our dishes was completely forgot about (and the waiter acted as if it was still coming out).. I would have preferred he admit the mistake and apologize. Not try to play it off... also, it was difficult to get his attention and order more food. He wasn't one to check in and ask if things were okay, and it was hard to flag him over to our seats.. Eventually we closed out, gave up and ate elsewhere... I think they need more people taking orders/waitstaff. I also witnessed quite a bit of confusion between him & the cooks throughout the night. Bar staff was great. Attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly. I wish they were the ones taking food orders in the back. Much better than whoever was in the food area... I would give 4/5. Star deducted due to subpar service & that part of our meal was forgotten about.

Their hand rolls are on the next level! So fresh and delicious! They also serve and present the hand rolls nicely. Love the location and environment as well. Definitely recommend to people when o love seafood, Wagyu, and hand rolls.

The atmosphere here was a bit more lively and crowded compared to the more relaxed vibe of the UWS spot. I enjoyed my meal even more this time around. I started with the beet salad, which was delicious and offered great value given the generous portion size. it featured sliced beets, arugula, goat cheese, and walnuts. I also had my eye on the hijiki soybean salad--which is a bit smaller and reportedly homemade--so I may try that next time, along with the warm mushroom salad which looked very tasty. The edamame was standard but served as a nice starter. For my main rolls, I chose the salmon avocado and the yellowtail scallion. Both were very fresh and definitely worth ordering again. The salmon avocado roll had a nice touch of sesame seeds on the rice, while the yellowtail scallion was prepared with the seaweed on the outside. My boyfriend's sushi entree looked excellent, so I am considering that or the sushi-sashimi combo for my next visit. The entrees provide a substantial amount of food, and I especially appreciate that they allow you to choose which roll comes with your meal.

The slices aren't thin, delicate, and melt-in-your-mouth as one usually gets in a sit down; they are extra thick, and I had to really bite down on some of the pieces. The rice was nicely seasoned and was cooked well + portions are also big to match those thiccccc salmon slices. To be honest, I was getting a little nauseated after 5 pieces, haha~ They were definitely delicious but I'd probably just eat 3 or 4 pieces and share with a friend! It was easy to text the number on the website and coordinate a pickup time, and the staff was friendly when I arrived. The restaurant is a little hard to find as the windows are blinded and the sign is a piece of paper on the door.

The katsu was very, very moist on the inside, with a crispy batter that was so light it was almost flavorless. I honestly couldn't really tell the difference between the tenderloin and pork loin. Overall the dish had a very light flavor and I added quite a bit of sauce and wasabi. Some of the less memorable dishes were the eggplant agebitashi and truffle rice. The eggplant agebitashi tasted like a cross between an eggplant parm and a bolognese. The truffle rice had a very strong truffle flavor that ended up overpowering everything else in the dish. I thought the slices of raw button mushrooms were a little strange. I really enjoyed the sabazushi. The pieces of mackerel were thick and carried a lot of that characteristic mackerel oily flavor, but the oiliness was cut by enough vinegar to balance everything out. The niku udon was also a surprise hit. The noodles were wide, flat, super slurpy, and the broth carried a deep umami flavor. Overall, I had a pretty solid experience here.
