Then I tried to order my usual drink, but because it had been more than 90 days since my last visit, my previous order was gone. So I started looking through the menu, only to realize the lemon frozen slush and the lime frozen slush were no longer there. I literally spent over 30 minutes sitting in the Sonic stall scrolling through the app because you have to order through it to get the half-price slushes. Now they have these new slushes with some type of tea concentrate, and I already know I don't like green tea. I didn't want to risk paying for something I probably wouldn't enjoy, especially since there wasn't an option to sample it. So I opened my Maps app to see what was nearby. That's when I noticed that a young lady I'd been following on Instagram had her Italian ice shop close by. I thought, "Oh my goodness!" It was less than a mile away, so I drove over to Killa Italian Ice & Smoothie and picked up some lemonade and a slice of cake. After that, I thought, "Let me see what other small businesses I can support while I'm over here." I wasn't really interested in any of the other food options because they were things I could already get in Woodbridge. So I searched for bakeries and found Sweet Tooth Cafe & Cakes, just a short drive away. I walked in, and to my surprise, they had a full restaurant menu in addition to their baked goods. Let me tell you, these people were so amazingly welcoming the moment I walked in. "Hey, sis!" "Hi, welcome!" I immediately felt at home, and I honestly haven't felt that way in an establishment in a very long time. I ended up telling the young lady behind the register about my whole Sonic adventure, and she said, "Well, let me let you try my chicken curry salad." Now, I didn't have the heart to tell her that I don't like chicken salad, so I said, "Okay." Let me tell you...that chicken curry salad was banging. I was like, "Oh wow. This is good." As we kept talking, I looked over the menu and realized I didn't want my usual comfort foods like pizza, collard greens, or macaroni. I wanted to try something different. So I ordered their Chicken with Attitude with rice and cabbage. The chicken had a Middle Eastern rustic flavor. It was roasted, incredibly tender, and unlike anything I'd had before. It's definitely a different taste and probably an acquired one, but I really enjoyed it. Although I'd only had that sample of the chicken curry salad, it was so good that I ordered half a pound of it to take home, along with a piece of pound cake. Like I said at the beginning, I DO NOT EAT chicken salad, but it completely surprised me. But beyond the food, they brought me a complimentary lemonade while I was sitting there eating. It tasted so fresh, like freshly squeezed lemon with other fresh fruit over ice. It was absolutely delicious and refreshing. Everywhere throughout the restaurant were little signs about genuine kindness. The whole place just felt welcoming. Being from Alabama, I grew up with Southern hospitality. You make eye contact, greet people, and make them feel at home. That's not meant to discredit businesses in DC, Maryland, or Virginia. This area is a melting pot of people from all over the world, and culturally, not everyone expresses hospitality the same way. But when I walked into Sweet Tooth Cafe & Cakes, every single person embodied that welcoming spirit. It wasn't just one employee. It was the people behind the counter, the people coming out of the kitchen, and even those arriving for work. I just remember thinking, "Wow." I felt safe. I felt welcomed. I felt wanted. I felt at home. I felt like family. More than the food, I felt like I had found my tribe. I found my village. I honestly wish I lived closer because, if I did, I'd probably be there every day. Since moving to this area in 2009, that's the feeling I've been missing. If I could recommend Sweet Tooth Cafe & Cakes a million times over, it wouldn't just be because of the food. It would be because of the sense of belonging. It's that feeling of walking into a place where everybody knows your name, even when they don't. I got jerk wings (but there was hardly any seasoning on them), peach cobbler (was mostly just peaches that tasted canned), cookies and cream cheesecake, and glazed pound cake.

Disappointed with the Customer Service Experience at Chunky and Bop's My family and I recently visited Chunky and Bop's after hearing rave reviews about the food. Despite it being an hour's drive from our home, we were eager to give it a try. We arrived around 2:00 PM and were warned by a customer leaving the restaurant that it would be an hour and a half wait to get our food. Although that was a long wait, we decided to stay due to the positive reviews and the time we had already invested in traveling there. Unfortunately, the experience did not live up to expectations. Initially, the ordering system was shut down so the staff could catch up with existing orders. While we understood this reasoning and were willing to wait, the situation dragged on for an unacceptable amount of time. After waiting for two hours, the owner provided us with a meal that had been prepared for another customer who had canceled their order. While we were thankful for this gesture, especially since my husband and I are diabetics, we were left wondering why they didn't simply inform us that no additional orders would be taken. Instead, we continued waiting unnecessarily. We were told repeatedly that the ordering system would reopen shortly, but those assurances were never followed through. The owner's assistant claimed it was his first day on the job, yet he appeared very familiar with the regulars and spent most of his time chatting at the bar instead of addressing customer concerns. The owner mentioned that orders would resume once they caught up to a specific number, but this never happened. We ultimately waited for three and a half hours, only to leave disappointed and frustrated by the lack of communication and integrity. As business owners ourselves, with my husband having over 30 years of experience as a chef, we understand the challenges of running a restaurant. However, the poor customer service and disorganized operations we experienced at Chunky and Bop's were unacceptable. While the food may be great, it is not worth enduring such a disappointing experience. Unfortunately, my family and I have decided not to return. They advertise as authentic philly cheesesteaks, but if philly cheesesteaks taste like that. Philly can have them. Absolute B's and over hyped, if you ask me. I believe that they honestly deleting negative reviews on their social medias and keeping all the good reviews. Hell, the good reviews maybe all people he knows! I ordered an 18in cheesesteaks with mushrooms, onions, and white American cheese. I got two sandwiches put together, raw onions, over cooked mushrooms. Sandwich was saggy and wet with no flavor. Only taste you get is from the cheese and raw onions. The store business must be slowing down. I went on a Friday only 5 people in the store with me. My order still took over 1hr. Jerry's carryout on MLK make faster and better cheesesteaks, and they get hit all day, still get your food within 30mins. Nice and hot too. The supposed owner Todd was very nonchalant about my sandwich and me wanting a remake. He spoke on how his Ribeyes is the best, and you can't please everyone. All I wanted was a remake man. I do not recommend at all. They staff, whole nother subject. Very young immature and they be on their phones alot with gloves on( did not see them change their gloves nor once!) My family and I visited Chunky and Bop's during our first trip to Washington, and it ended up being one of the highlights of our visit! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with such kindness and outstanding customer service. The staff made us feel so welcome and comfortable, almost like we were regulars instead of first-time visitors. The food was incredible! My Philly cheesesteak was fresh, hot, and packed with flavor. Every bite was delicious, and I honestly finished it in just a few bites because I couldn't stop eating it. The fries were perfectly cooked and seasoned so well that they were just as good as the sandwich. You can really tell that they care about the quality of their food. I recently visited Chunky and Bops and had the opportunity to try their cheesesteak, which was undeniably phenomenal in taste. The sandwich had a fresh, rich flavor that set it apart, especially because it wasn't overly greasy like traditional Philly cheesesteaks--something I imagine many would appreciate. However, I couldn't help but feel that the overall experience could have been elevated if the tomatoes, peppers, and their special sauce were grilled alongside everything else. This would have blended the flavors more cohesively and brought out a deeper, smoky essence to the sandwich. On a brighter note, I also had the sweet potato fries, and let me just say--these were hands-down the best sweet potato fries I've ever had. Perfectly crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and seasoned to perfection, they were an absolute highlight of the meal. I went to Chunky and Bops with my sister on 2/8/25 in the afternoon. I had to judge for myself if Chunky and Bops philly cheesesteaks lived up to the hype I've been hearing about. Chunky and Bops surpassed my expectations! Chunky and Bops delivered ok! I was expecting at least an hour wait because there was a sign posted stating one hour wait time and I saw on social media wait times are about an hour or longer. Surprisingly our wait was just 25 minutes. The cheesesteaks were amazing, meaty and very flavorful. Our food was hot and brought out to us by the owner Todd. It was a pleasure meeting Todd. Todd was very welcoming and provided exceptional customer service. I told my nephew about the place. My nephew ordered online. When he arrived his food was ready. He took the food home and his family enjoyed the cheesesteaks. In the words of my nephew the cheesesteaks were the bomb! We will definitely be repeat customers. read more

If you don't mind waiting 1.5 hours to get a cold sandwich (with no toppings and zero flavor) and cold fries, you are at the right place. Not to mention, I paid for bacon that was not on the sandwich. To see the kids in the window joking around while waiting 1.5 hours for my sandwich is nonsense. Being optimistic, I waited for my highly recommended meal. No notification on my phone to let me know if my food was ready as promised. If this is what Philly Cheesesteaks taste like now, Eddie Leonards, Jersey Mikes, etc. have nothing to worry about. I have seen videos of ladies sitting and eating sandwiches and giving C & B the highest of praise. Not my experience. The service is as outstanding as the Philly cheesesteak I had today! I was a 1st time visitor at the La Fantome Food Court (Riverdale, MD) location, and was glad I allowed a little extra time to get situated and place an order. This can be a busy place - for good reason. Wow, was it worth it. That sandwich took me right back to Philly. Everything from the ingredients to the prep was just like home. However, the service left a lot to be desired. The food took quite a while to come out, and I was given sweet potato fries instead of regular ones, which wasn't what I ordered. While the taste made up for some of the frustration, I'd recommend the restaurant work on prepping their meats ahead of time to reduce wait times. Had a great experience at this cheesesteak spot! It's very close and convenient for game days near Northwest Stadium. The place is clean and open, making for a comfortable vibe. This was the BEST cheesesteak I've had since moving here from Boston. It's the real deal if you know what a Philly cheesesteak should be. This place is incredible! I have had the Big Boy Cheesesteak-not steak and cheese! It was just like home! The mixture of provolone, white cheddar and whiz... is a must have! i Fundraise with the soft pretzels and sell out in 20 minutes! The Italian hoagie is the best in town! Hands down best cheese steaks being away from Philly. The owners are fantastic Mr. Todd and his son are so warm and family oriented. We got 5 cheesesteaks and pretzels man I tell you. I had the veggie sub, and it was delicious and very well-seasoned. It was the first time I dined out without reaching for the salt and pepper. The sweet potato fries were crinkle-cut and unlike any I've had before; they were so good!
