The food is amazing. Start with homemade chips with some of the best fresh salsa I have had in a long time. I got a chicken burrito and it came out huge! Have a big appetite if you order one of these. My wife had a taco salad and again nice portion size. They also have some sauces you can choose from. So this is a unique review for me to write. I typically would not pick Chuy's for dinner since I have reactions to vegetable peppers so I knew going in this would be difficult, but it was a friend's birthday dinner. So I looked at the menu for options and asked the server how some food was prepared. The manager ended up coming over to talk me through the menu and I was able to get a roasted chicken burrito. It was huge, hot, and delicious. I was even able to get a sauce (that I put on the side just in case), but it was fantastic (tomatillo sauce). The watermelon margaritas were very refreshing and I opted for sugar on the rim and an extra floater on the side. The kids ordered off the kids meal (cheese quesadilla and chicken tenders). Those came out fast and hot for the kids to start eating while the adults sat and relaxed. The servers were very attentive and even brought out some Sopaipilla for the birthday boy (who shared so I can say they were good and I liked better with the honey). This was my first visit to this location. I have been eating at Chuy's since they first opened in Austin. I have high expectations for them. Chuy's has done a great job maintaining consistency across the chain. Upon arrival 30 minutes to closing we were told there was a 20 minute wait. We were like were here so we will wait. I feel that we were told that so maybe we would leave. That was the impresa everyone in my party had so it wasn't just me. We were seated within minutes of saying we would wait. This location is no different than the others I've been relating to the food. The food was spot on, the service wasn't the greatest but we got fed. I know it was close to closing so i think I'll give them a pass on the mediocre service. We did have to ask for items multiple times to get an item. I'll try this location again but hope the experience is better because they deserve a 5 star. read more

I was on my way to the hotel and was looking for places to stop and eat. I passed by Chewys and decided to pass by inside the Plaza which has various options. The entrance is very unique and we'll decorated with an Elvis Presley statue. When we found out it was Mexican we decided to stay. Everybody was extremely nice and courteous to our every need. They immediately sat us down and brought chips and dips. The jalapeño ranch sauce was delicious! When our chips ran low, our waitress refilled our chips and dipping sauces. I have been to this location several times and tried few different things, their taco salad is tasty, anything is good with avocado in it! I liked their stuffed avocado which is a Tuesday special, least favorite is their chicka chicka boom boom, although liked by many I found it extremely boring with chicken and cheese, nothing else and you have to rely on boom boom sauce to make it taste good. I will keep trying new dishes there! So far not bad, although I am still not that keen on Mexican food. read more

I've heard some good reviews about this place and finally got to check it out. We were told there'd be a 15-20min wait but was luckily called once we got the pager within minutes of arriving. Place has a kitschy vibe and decor still so much fun. Once we were sat our server asked for our drink order and served us with two baskets of freshly made and fried tortilla chips accompanied by a bowl of salsa (good but a tad spicy) and a bowl of their creamy jalapeño dip. Chips were awesome, refillable and arrived warm always. We ordered the Chika Chika Boom Boom which consisted of two chicken enchiladas topped with this tangy spicy yet slight creamy green chiles sauce served with rice and beans and the #1 Comida Deluxe which was like a sampling of two of their cheese enchiladas topped with a meat and cheese sauce, two chicken flautas, two ground beef tacos and tostadas, guacamole, salsa and rice and beans. National Margarita Day! We called and inquired about their promotions for the day. We were advised that they had a special on house margaritas and I inquired about the other margaritas. I was told that they special margaritas were a dollar or more off for the celebration.. I inquired to the server about the drink specials and was only advised about the house special margaritas. I inquired about the specialty margaritas and was told they would check and see what the deals were. I informed our server that I had called and was told of reduced prices on the special margaritas. The server checked with the manager and was advised that the specials were only on the house margaritas. I think the legal term is bait snd switch. The food was good, the server attentive, but I would had preferred a mixed margarita over a pre-mixed batch margarita. As soon as you walk up - you'll see a massive Elvis head; you have arrived! haha Upon entering, the hostess station is surrounded but memories the restaurant has had and a HUGE array of some of the most awesome custom shirts I've seen in quite a while! Let's get to the shirts, there's adult and kids sizes; tons of designs to chose from with Chuy's fish or name so cleverly implemented into some of your already favorite and famous things. Easy to pick your size and pay right in the front of the restaurant. Don't let the outside fool you - this is a pretty expansive restaurant, and let me tell you - ENDLESS stuff to look at! The food was amazing, one of the best meals I've had in a while. I got the enchiladas; on point, beans and rice were PERFECTLY seasoned - this wasn't some fake it to make it Mexican food; this was LEGIT. We were looking for a good place to have lunch on a rainy day in Orlando and Chuy's came up as a good Tex-Mex recommendation nearby. Upon walking in, we were greeted by kind staff who took our info and told us it would be about 15-20 min wait. The decor in here was colorful, unique and festive. I noticed the bar area was decorated with antiques, reclaimed wood and photos of dogs -- I believe patrons' dogs! We also noticed a series of hilarious tshirts for sale on the wall. They were plays on all sorts of popular pop-culture references -- Pokemon, Super Mario Bros and much more. The marketer in me wondered how they get away with selling those shirts from a copyright perspective but... let's not get into that here. ;) The food was pretty delicious. I ordered the cheese enchiladas and the beans and rice were perfect. They definitely give good portions. The waitress was really attentive and helpful. There was a balloon maker there and while I think the balloons were a good add on for kids, he also did sang upon request and I found it a bit disruptive. Another thing I wasn't a huge fan of was the utensils in paper packaging. I thought it was a bit wasteful and there were religious quotes on it? Just found it a bit odd. For my 200th review - I wasn't sure what place to review!! People usually save the 100th, 200th, etc reviews for something crazy like Jean-Georges or what have you. But me? My answer came the first night after my plane touched down in Orlando. I decided I wanted sushi, since I love it and it's difficult to locate where I currently live. Heading down International drive to a well-reviewed sushi spot, low did my leftward glance reveal none-other than a Chuy's!!! Now listen, I know Texmex and sushi are about as far apart on the eatery scale as you can get - but when you harken from the land of chips and salsa - aka Texas, and have been to several Chuy's (Austin! San Antonio! Houston! Dallas!) and you absolutely adore them - you do not question, you make a U-turn and go! We were super excited to spy a Chuy's, you understand, (my husband is a huge fan as well) and then even more excited to find this was their first week being open! Meant to be? I think so! They had less salsa than I recall (Chuy's used to have 2 salsas but they've been phasing out the non-fresh one for a while methinks) but brought us the jalapeno-cream sauce b/c apparently it is a waiter-favorite. And yes, it too is delicious. Digging into the salsa fresca is like heaping chip-fulls of home into my belly. (PS: The waiters were all really cute and friendly). ****Now I'm not gonna beat around the bush: For those of you who live in Orlando and for whom Chuy's is new - you should feel super lucky! And also, you should get the 'Chuychanga'. Chicken, herbs, and cheese in an perfectly fried pocket of tortilla, served with whichever sauce you want!! (And you want the Green Chili sauce, Trust me!) (ok you may want the Hatch Green Chili sauce... but really, you have to try this with the Green Chili sauce!!). It comes with beans that are very good as well as rice and a small salad, like most true Texmex joints would serve you. If you have a small stomach (or ate tons of chips) half of this excellent Chuychanga could be dinner and the other half always makes a great breakfast... or just pig out - who's stopping you? The bartender specifically was less than impressive and I expected better considering Orlando is known for hospitality . This is proof that not every review I do of I-Drive restaurants is a negative one! I would have given it 4 stars if it weren't for the weird, off-putting smell that hits you as soon as you walk in. That, and I personally didn't like the decor that made the place feel run-down and not particularly clean, but I'm pretty sure that was intentional. I wanted to try this place out because their menu boasted a couple of vegetarian options that I thought would be easily made vegan. For all you vegans out there, your only option besides appetizers are the veggie enchiladas sans cheese, but you're in luck because this was actually really good! A lot of yummy veggies inside a blue corn tortilla and covered in ranchero sauce with a side of beans and rice. They reminded me a lot of the Amy's Kitchen vegan enchiladas. They do have another vegetarian option on the menu, the vegetarian combo plate. I asked if they could substitute the cheese inside the chile relleno with guacamole but our server told me no, it comes pre-made and can't be altered, so that was a bummer. Nevertheless, I was very happy with my enchiladas and between the large portion and the unlimited chips and salsa, I was stuffed! My dining group (a vegetarian and two omnis) were just as full and satisfied as I was. I'm glad to have found a new lunch option close to work. They also pride themselves on the blending and borrowing of lots of Hub-Caps from all over the world as well.....(but more on that later) The menu here is not overly complex, (once you get past the fact that a lot of dishes have Elvis in the name)..It's standard Tex Mex fare...Nachos, Combo Platters, Big as Yo Face Burritos, Tacos, Enchiladas, and Fajitas. All beer comes in bottles only...no draught. The house specialty is of course Margaritas, made with fresh squeezed lime juice and they have a Martini made with Jalapeño stuffed olives. What you can expect from Chuy's, aside from good food, is a wacky and very tacky Tex-Mex restaurant, that is a mixture of shrines to Elvis and carved wooden dogs, and lots of hubcaps, that can be disorienting at first. read more

Decided to check this place out almost 3 months after my initial visit and wow, what a difference! The place was not nearly as packed as my first visit but still had a steady flow of people coming and going. We had a table of 4 adults and 2 children and had no wait whatsoever. Dominick (hoping I'm addressing the right person since this is the name on our receipt) was a dream of a server. Super friendly , took our orders and checked on us frequently. He and his crew noticed that our baskets of chips were quickly being emptied at a record speed and they would replenish right away! Btw those chips are seriously addictive. And the salsa and creamy jalapeno dip are just an added bonus. The fact that they're complimentary is almost shocking. I would probably pay for it but don't tell them I said that! I had the "Big as Yo Face" burrito and chose the vegetarian option (bean and cheese) topped with Ranchero sauce. It came with a side of Mexican rice and some greens, pico de gallo and jalapenos. The entrees are huge and are more than enough for 2 people. I was able to get through half of my burrito before I threw in the towel. But it makes for great leftovers! Not only is the food really tasty but the environment and décor are lively and perfect for any celebration! They have some fun little props to pose with in the lobby to take photos with. Also, spiciest Tex-Mex restaurant I've ever eaten at- love that! I'm excited that they're opening a location in Tallahassee I ordered the chicken salad, my mom ordered the stuffed avocado, and my husband ordered the enchiladas. No complaints from anyone. All of our plates were super tasty. I didn't like their chips all that much, very thin, I prefer them to be thick and crispy. But the salsa was great- very fresh with a good kick. I got a ton of food for not too much and since I came during happy hour, I was able to get some ground beef, queso and salsa from the nacho bar. Both were really good and the salsa was very fresh. The queso was amazing. The taco salad was really good. I think I would get it without carrots next time since I found them sort of overwhelming in the salad but otherwise it was a nice mix. Chuy's On International Drive Visited Chuy's on Saturday, January 10th, 2015. The place was busy but we were able to get seated right away. Our waiter, Ronnie, was awesome!!! Super attentive, friendly, and professional! He gave us really nice suggestions as what to eat. Big portions, reasonable prices!!! Nothing special about the place ...
