My husband and I went there for lunch the other day. It was about 2-3 in the afternoon so the place wasn't very busy. I didn't get our servers name (he was a young black man) but he was so super nice. My husband teases me about how much sugar I sweeten my tea with and our server joked around with us about it. We got the appetizer plate to share. It came with chili con queso, nachos, deluxe quesadillas, chicken flautas, guacamole and sour cream. It was delicious! It was also big, so if you order one, have at least another person or 2 to share it with. My husband ordered a chili festival dish with a cheese chili rellino and chicken enchilada with boom boom sauce. He loved it. The boom boom sauce is so awesome. I had the Elvis Green Chili Fried Chicken. I LOVE THIS DISH!!!!! It is a chicken breast that is coated in Lay's potato chips and fried. I ordered it with boom boom sauce which gives it the right amount of kick. You have to try it, I crave it!! I heard about this place from the guys at work so decided to try it today. I ordered two chicken enchiladas with the sour cream sauce. Too much lime flavoring for my taste, but that's ok. i am excited to share this review because I had a recent discovery that I wish I had known about in the past. I have eaten at various Chuy's locations several times and never knew this: Every Monday thru Friday from 4-7, Chuy's has a free "nacho car." Essentially, there is a nacho buffet set up in the restaraunt that has great nacho fixin's and you can help yourself.....for free. i am assuming you'd need to be at least partaking in happy hour drink specials to have access to this. My excitement is two-fold: 1. The nacho fixin's are good, fresh and delicious. Queso cheese, refried beans, guac, salsa and ground sirloin. You fix your own nachos and decide what you want on them.I was really impressed with this. Cool set up. It's called a nacho car because the buffet is designed like the trunk of an old school car. 2. It's free. I think it's cool to have access to GOOD food when it's FREE! read more

This was my first time here for lunch after our friend suggested we go! There were 3 of us and we all got the chuychanga and it was amazing and huge! The queso was also super delicious! They have excellent sauces that you can choose from but other than that they are what you would expect at many chains serving this style of food. The atmosphere is loud and over the top. Service here was good. Ordered the Elvis Presley which is a huge meal. It's a tad over the normal as far as pricing. Single order of fajitas is $15 and order for two is $25. There were tons of great choices that were quite affordable, but I decided to go with the waitresses suggestion and do the chicken enchilada with one of the signature green sauces, and it was delicious! Haven't visited a Chuy's restaurant in awhile but it was just like any other time, DELICIOUS! I love this location in particular because it's usually never crowded and every server we've ever had is outstanding and at the top of their game. Got there right at 4 on the dot and you know what that means? Happy hour that included the nacho car and everybody and their mama was in line to get that good ole queso and seasoned ground beef to add to it, lol! By the time you get done gorging on that, you're pretty much stuffed and you don't have any room for your main meal, but we ordered 2 entrees anyways. I got the chicka chicka boom boom enchiladas, double rice, and my main squeeze got the "Big as your face" fajitas beef burrito with green chile rice. Since it was happy hour, I just had to get a couple of Mango margaritas on the rocks and boy did I get a buzz just off of the first one. Who ever was working the bar and making the drinks knows how to get it done I know that. Needless to say, we indeed got 2 togo box's since we filled up on all those chips, queso, and salsa! Shout out to the lovely Miss Kayla who was our server and one who loves her job. She was very helpful in suggesting certain menu items and we never had to flag her down because she was extremely attentive and watched her section very close. Great service, food, and atmosphere. Zero complaints. Food was delicious. As a vegetarian, I really liked that options were clearly marked (not common in Texas), and when I asked for another dish to substitute meat with charro beans, had no difficulties doing so. So enjoyed a very fresh salad in a taco bowl with beans. My husband and father-in-law split the chicken fajitas for one (with extra chicken added, a great suggestion by our waiter). It came out sizzling, with incredibly fresh, homemade flour tortillas, a decent sized portion for the fajita toppings (pico, guacamole, etc.), and a mid-sized portion of rice and beans. The atmosphere is very eclectic and chill. The walls divide it slightly into separate sections, which gives it a slightly higher sense of privacy, while still feeling open. Now, the main reason this clenched five stars is because of the great service. Willy (William) W was fantastic. He was incredibly friendly, efficient, and provided great suggestions (like adding additional chicken to the fajitas since they were splitting, or substituting beans for meat, and putting on the side). I went to Chuy's in Plano, TX near my home and had a horrible experience. The good was great, but that was all that was great. It started with seating at the bar. My friend and I sat at the bar for a drink and possible dinner. Within a few minutes of our arrival the bar filled up with little kids on both sides of us! One family had three kids and ordered appetizers and drinks. This quickly changed our decision about eating at the bar. Why are people under 21 allowed at the bar? I want to sit at the bar and have adult beverages and conversation. Minors shouldn't be allowed in the adult area. Where else would you like us to go to have adult-time while in Chuy's? I realize it's a family restaurant, but the bar is for adults. It got worse. We were seated in the dining area after about 45 minutes. There was a large party at the table next to ours. Around 10 adults and 5 kids. The adults were so loud. I felt like I was at a Chucky Cheese for adults and these people had been let loose! After a while the kids started to feed off of the parents energy and now it became a three-ring circus. Every table in the area kept staring at this group. They had already paid their bill and were just gabbing it up. This went on the entire time we were at our table. It was so loud that my friend and I could not hear each other. We did not have a pleasant meal at all. Our server brought us our bill and apologized for the group. She said many tables had complained. If people are complaining why didn't management do something? There were two people in regular clothes (not Chuy's t-shirts) that were in our area often but they never did anything. I feel that management should have asked this group to quieten down. If they didn't have the courage to do that, then I feel they should have comped everyone else's dinner in the area. I won't go back to this location! read more

After living almost a year in Texas, I felt it was time to give "Tex-Mex" a try. Chuy's is near where I live, so Sunday after church I went to Chuy's. The reviews were good so I came in with high hopes. As I stepped inside I was expecting a typical Mexican food restaurant but for my surprise it was nothing like it. It's like a came to a classic American diner; it had old school Americana ornaments which were really cool and the place had a great vibe. Well I was fortunate to have Joseph as my waiter. He was great and really made my experience at Chuy's awesome. He was really knowledgable with their food and he even say down with us to give us a salsa sampling. The food was great!! Just the hand tortillas and boom boom sauce alone had me, they're delicious. The chica chica boom boom enchiladas were amazing!! Just walked away for the last time. We used to come here fairly frequently. The last few times, though, we've left due to a 45+ minute wait for 2. Tonight, being later, we thought we'd try again. Called first, and were told it would be 15-20 minutes, and we could go to the web site and check in. Did so, which also said 15-20 minutes. Get to the restaurant to tell them we're there, and are told, "I know it probably said 15-20 minutes online, but that's not very accurate." (Never mind we were told the same thing by a live person over the phone.) The real wait time? You guessed it: 45+ minutes. At 9:00 PM. Turned around and left. It's now 15 minutes later, and in that time, we've been able to drive someplace else down the road, be seated, Place our orders, and I've had time to write this. Oh...and our food was just delivered. It was my first time to Chuy's as we don't have one in our area. I was impressed when we walked in that the host was wiping down the menus. That tells me they care about not spreading germs. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. She was maybe a little too busy, but trying, so the service was ok. The food however, was not impressive to me. The salsa was pink and too hot for the average person to enjoy, the queso I ordered since I didn't like the salsa was so salty I could barely eat it and also too hot/spicy. Then our combo appetizer had good and bad, but was actually quite bland. Our favorite was the quesadilla. Our main course was fajitas and they were good according to my husband because they had a grilled taste, but tasted funny to me like lighter fluid and charcoal or something. Is Chuy's the best Tex Mex in town? No. Is it amazing? Absolutely. I will always love this place. The Chuychanga is always amazing, their daily specials are solid and I haven't really had a meal I didn't enjoy. It's definitely pretty crowded but the wait staff has always been attentive and the kitchen kicks food out pretty quick. The Texas martini is AMAZING and definitely worth the price. I have visited this Chuy's at least 200 times over the years, starting very shortly after they opened and while I have had tiny and short bouts of bad service or bad food, almost simply due to the law of averages at this point with the number of times I've been, but overall the prices are pretty reasonable, the food's great, and the staff almost always try their hardest to keep you happy. Everything from the Mexi-Cobb salad to some simple Chicken Fajita tacos are great, the sauces are perfect compliments, and those thin chips with either their very tangy salsa or - more importantly - the Creamy Jalapeno dressing (which you'll swear they put drugs in, it's so addictive) are still the absolute best. read more

2.5 to 3 stars depending on the visit. This is the Plano location off 75 and Parker. We've been going here for 15 whatever years they have been open. I have a love/hate relationship with this place. I like the food. I love the queso. Good margaritas. Funky atmosphere. Tacos are great... Chicka Chicka Boom Boom is great. Fajitas are great. The hand made tortillas are awesome. Some other places make their own flour tortillas, but who makes hand makes corn tortillas? No one else I know about (not chains anyway). I could make a meal out of just the queso and tortillas. The downsides are... 1) This place is ALWAYS packed to the gills. Unless you go at 3pm on a Monday you are going to wait in line for a half hour+. The bar used to be open seating, you at least had a small chance of grabbing a quick table. But now you have to wait like regular tables. Want to come here for dinner? You're going to wait an hour. 2) The patio is USELESS. It's on the side that faces Central Expressway. So all you hear is trucks and traffic and smell diesel fumes. WHY didn't they put the patio on the other side? At the old Dallas / Knox location we liked eating outside. Not here. 3) Service is very hit or miss. The food quality is pretty consistent, but because they are so busy all the time the wait staff always seem to be running around in a panic. Your order has a 50/50 shot of getting messed up. Drink orders will be forgotten. Refills sometimes never happen. 4) The take out food. They have a small section devoted to nothing but take out. We do this sometimes, but for some reason the food quality doesn't seem as good when we get home (only 10 mins away). It just doesn't taste the same. Hard to explain. 5) LOUD. Oh my god, you cannot have a conversation unless you are yelling at people. I know this goes hand in hand with the busy factor, but all the hard surfaces just make this place an echo chamber. On top of that they are piping in music... most of the time when the wife and I go we don't even bother to try to converse. Sometimes a place is just too successful for it's own good. This place prints money. But it's not always the most enjoyable experience. I'd say maybe if they cut out like 1/3 of the tables to reduce the number of people it might help, but then you would just have to wait even longer to get a table. read more
