Love, love, LOVE their Elvis fried chicken breast plate. It is just so awesome. Their variety of salsas is awesome. (Be careful though, if you ask for an extra little dish of salsa, you will be charged $4!!) The boom boom salsa is delicious. As well as the creamy green salsa. I have also tried the enchiladas verdes and the vegetarian enchiladas. They were excellent. I like this place. The tortillas are awesome. There is a "tortillera" making all the tortillas in front of everyone behind a glass display. Even the huge burrito tortillas are homemade. Delicious. What a great ending to a great day at SeaWorld with our grandkids! We walked in 10 minutes before they stopped serving and they treated us like we were their first customer of the day. Wow, the food was very nice. The beef fajitas were tasty and the tortillas were cooked properly.. The refried beans had a very nice flavor. Our server, Alex was very good. This is my first time here, we showed up with a party of 20. The drinks, food and service we all Great. I have zero complaints when it comes to that part of the restaurant. The only part of the restaurant that I see could have needed some improvement was the restroom, I could have done with out the authentic smell of a Mexican bathroom. Been to Chuy's all across Texas and tonight was upsetting, The wait staff was great, the food prep was ok. Waited 40 minutes to get in on a holiday weekend. Management either was not on there A game or the kitchen was short staffed. Had a large party of 14 , food came out in batches of 3-4 and one of our orders was wrong three times in a row. Manager never came to smooth things over. But our waitress was sincerely apologetic and we dealt with it. read more

I was really craving Green Chile enchiladas I looked up local Mexican restaurants and Chuy's popped up. Restaurant is really colorful and fun to look at on the inside. They brought us out chips and two different salsas and I was in love! The tomato salsa might not be for everyone, but I personally loved it because I love anything with lime/lemon and it had a lot of that in there. The other salsa that they brought was a creamy jalapeño one and it was delicious, a bit spicy so watch out. So yummy! I was a little disappointed not in the enchiladas itself but more so that there wasn't enough spice even though it was supposed to be a little spicy. I'll be back to try the "next level" green enchiladas. (There were two different ones, one spicer than the other) our server was wonderful! Love her. Chuy's is for sure a Tex-Mex restaurant. Typical chain Tex-Mex. I liked it. We really liked the Jalapeño Ranch sauce. Chips were pretty good. They had a few vegetarian options that were marked vegetarian. The one star was earned by the great service. That was the only strong point of this franchise. The food was quite horrible. I ordered a dish that offered 3 types of enchiladas and a hard shell taco so I could sample everything. Each enchilada had a pre-made a few days before and then frozen taste to them and the 3 different types of "sauces" tasted like they came from a can. The rice was absolutely flavorless, the beans tasted like they came from a can, and the tortillas tasted like week old store bought tortillas. The frozen margarita had a weird taste to it that I couldn't identify. I've had better experiences at Taco Bell's at 1/4 the cost. Went there for lunch with 10 of my co-workers March 23rd. I ordered the Stacked Enchilada, it was so bad that after 2 bites I gave it back to the waitress; didn't eat anything else. Full disclosure: I go about once a week. The service is great and the food delicious. I've had the Pancho nachos, enchiladas, fajitas, and chilies rellenos; all excellent! Typically I get the chilies rellenos grilled to make it low carb and on the lighter side. Again the food is delicious and on busy work days I even get it delivered with grub hub. My preference is to eat there. Can't say enough about the good service. Like I said, I go there once a week for about three years now and have never had a bad experience. They are so courteous and patient. I'll keep coming back at least once a week! read more

Really bad experience here. We arrived as a party of two and were told there was a 45 minute wait. That was fine, it is a Friday evening. My wife and I walk into the bar and again, no seats (yet there were children sitting at the bar top). We walked to the end of the bar top and saw two empty seats. We asked the bartender about the seats and we were told someone was sitting there. Well, 25 minutes later when we walked out the door, those two seats were still empty. I'm not really sure but with a packed house, it seems kind of asinine to hold seats at the bar for well over 20 minutes. That added to the fact there were children sitting at the bar was enough to make us leave. read more

My family and I went for our first time yesterday and were quite surprised we hadn't been here sooner. Started with chicken quesadillas as an appetizer and came out quick with the cheese still melting inside. Wife had a margarita on the rocks she said was really good and then tried a cherry limeade with Tito's that she said perfect and had just the right amount of liquor to juices. For our entree my daughter had bean and cheese tacos ( she's picky about the beans and cheese places use for tacos, but loved it here), wife did bean and cheese nachos and were cheesy with right amount of beans with the tortilla chips freshly fried and crispy.( My wife is allergic to spicy stuff like peppers and spices that have capsicum with sucks for a San Antonian but she adjusts. But shout out to our server Skylar for checking on some plates that had pepper, there have been countless times servers just guess or pretend to ask and later on my wife breaks out cutting dinner short, thank you for that Sky, as spelled on her name tag). Finally I had the comida deluxe which was more than enough, enchiladas, beef taco, chicken flautas, tostada dipped in queso oh yeah with rice and beans. Well definitely go back, Skylar was awesome as she provided great service, didn't catch m.o.d( manager on duty) name but he randomly checked on us to do a table touch and appreciated it as other managers in restaurants just walk around only going to tables if something comes up. read more

The food is not great. I'm not a fan of their version of Tex Mex Food. The sauce taste like it comes from a can and the chicken enchiladas are dry. They do have good specials but it's only in the bar for the nachos and it's crowded. The drinks in the bar is average. Not my favorite- but it will do. The decorations are very cool- which I think really brings people back. The lights and colors makes it "Mexican themed" and fun. The service is a hit or mis. When the service is good- it's amazing. When it's bad- it makes me not want to return ever again. I've made it a point to ask for their best server the have that night- I don't care if I have to wait to be seated in their section. I don't want to take any chances with bad service. I honestly come here only for birthdays or occasions where it's their turn to pick dinner. So far, the food I have chosen here has been great. The "chuychanga" is my favorite. Top that with one of their sauces and you are now good to go. Wasn't too excited about their salsa, but definitely not a deal breaker. Service was great 5 out of the 6 times I've gone. The one time it wasn't, the restaurant was almost empty and they sat us right next to a lady that had 4 children eating with another lady. 1 baby in a carrier, a toddler, and the other 2 were like 5 yrs old. I would have thought they would have at least not put us on the adjacent table considering 90% of the tables were empty. We were greated and offered a table without any waiting, but we insisted on a table in the bar. Our server Daniella was very polite and took our drink order promptly after we were seated. Our drink order was complicated but she not only handled it well, but she offered up some upgrades that really spruced things up. The main menu was TexMex, but Daniella was able to offer up her experience with New Mexico style options that would have otherwise not been obvious from the regular menu. We didn't feel sold on the changes, but rather guided in the right direction of what we like and wanted. The food quality was excellent along with the service; I would definitely recommend Chuy's to my friends and family. Not your typical Tex Mex style of food, but it is pretty good. Lot of options on the menu and signature sauces are very good. Chips and salsa are always fresh and the chile con queso is just right. Prices are very reasonable, kids meal are only $5 and includes the drink which a good deal. Most of the meals are around $10. Again this is a different type of Tex Mex, more of Austin kind of place. But they have good combinations of food and sauces that you will not find elsewhere. You do have to ask for tortillas for you meal. I recommend if you are tired of eating at your typical Mexican food restaurant in San Antonio. read more

I have always enjoyed coming to chuys for lunch or dinner. Today I came with coworkers for happy hour and they throughly enjoyed it to the point where they mentioned that this should be our new happy hour spot. They have delicious margaritas and today I tried their strawberry mojito for the first time. Their mojito was very light and crisp, perfect for a summer day. We also enjoyed their free nacho bar and ordered some yummy quesadillas. We will be coming back soon for happy hour as they had amazing service and even accommodated adding an extra table when more guests arrived. read more

Always good Mexican food. I ate the quesadilla off the appetizer menu, and they were very good. They looked more like tacos, folded in half, and when I put beans and rice in them, they were amazing.
