Our waiter was very attentive however waiting for a table was a s--t show. They told us it was a 20 minute Wait and after 45 min sitting outside heavily pregnant in the heat I started to question what was the hold up for a table; especially when people who arrived AFTER us were being seated! That really irked me.. love how they even crossed us off the list but never called our names as we were waiting. Absolutely horrible!!! Walked in and was seated immediately, off to a good start, so I thought...waited about 5 minutes to place our drink order and received them in an acceptable time. Placed our food order and the wait began. It took an hour and 10 minutes to get our food. When we finally got it we were told they were out of rice. The food was very bland, beans were cold, my son's order was wrong....I requested to speak to the manager who did apologize and comp the meals that were wrong or missing their rice. Been here a couple of times. The 1st time was a great experience. The hostess, the waiter, the food all great and the place was packed. The 2nd time was about a year later. Totally opposite experience. The hostess acted like we were bothering her by even walking in. Walked us to a table, and we asked for a booth again this seemed to bother her as she rolled her eyes and walked us to a booth. She placed our menus on the table and left without a word. Our waiter had energy and asked if we needed anything often. But when we did need refills or more chips and brought it to his attention it would take awhile to receive these things. Food looked ok at best. Not what you would expect from a San Antonio mexican restraunt as well known as this one. It was a rainy day and the place was not very busy. First of all, my family and I love Chuys. Problem is with this store. We have had great service and food here, but it's reliability to do so is questionable. On multiple occasions we have dined here including tonight. Service can be slow as if they are understaffed??? But regardless regularly we receive cold food. Yes it was cooked but you can tell it had been sitting on the counter for a while. Especially when the sauces have gelitanized over the food, cold to the touch. Of course they offer to recook but we have already waited 45 minutes. I don't want to wait any longer. Tonight my daughter order the Elvis chicken fried chicken and it was actually raw!!!!. She allowed them to recook and this time it was over cooked/fried really dark batter to where the chicken was tough. Maybe it's the location meaning the employees, because my wife and I will eat at least once a week at the IH 10 W location for lunch and never have an issue. And believe me it is always busy there in comparison to the Hwy 151 location. It is a shame, since it is so close to home, that I can't eat dinner here during the week or over weekends. Nice ambience, but not enough waiting room. The chips are good and they offer 3 different salsas. One was like a ranch jalapeño dip. I got chicken enchiladas. The rice wasn't that great. I had begun to think that the joys I had in my past with food were fantastical conjugations and the food that I remembered didn't actually taste as it did. The fresh salsa my mother once made must have been simply an over-hyped memory. The fresh guacamole at that NYC restaurant must have merged with the joy of the company I was in. Chuys, you have opened my eyes to the magical world of food that I had crafted in my mind -- there was truth in it. It didn't matter what I ate, because it was all the best I've ever had, but I had the guacamole appetizer, the free salsa for the table, the house margaritas, the soft Taco with fajita steak and deluxe tomatillo, and the chicca chicca boom boom. I have never had better guacamole, salsa, margaritas or tacos. I'm floored. Stunned. I'm legitimately emotional at this experience and the tearful joy I've had will carry with me for, I imagine, my life. Also, Valerie our server was awesome. read more

My family ate here and my son had the been and cheese burrito and loved it. My husband had the green chile taquitos and loved it. Overall very good, lightly breaded with just the right amount of cilantro and sauce. 5 Star rating attributable to aforementioned server Haley W. Delicious!! I went here with folks from work. I had the chicken fajitas. The fajitas were so much better than any fajitas I've had in any other state. I will say I love chuys, and visit two that I'm close to here in Dallas. So, when I noticed this one on our trip I was so excited because I knew the food would be awesome. Sadly, it wasn't as the ones up here. I am quite picky so they always make my dish when ordered. Yes, I know I'm one of those annoying customers, however I don't see it as that bad. I get the chimichanga (which they call the chuychanga) with just chicken and cheese inside because I do. It like cilantro or peppers. Since I do this they have to make it right then from what I've been told by servers because they're already pre-made I guess. Well, the ones here in Dallas are delicious and the inside is still juicy and savoring in flavor even though this is a deep fried dish. The one here though was not so juicy or savoring. The majority of the chicken was fried to a crisp so it was so hard to chew, and sadly I was upset because of this. I wasn't even able to finish it all because it became to hard to chew since it was all dried out. The queso of course was great so that was a plus.. Our waitress was a bit spacey. We had to re-ask for certain things, and sadly no they weren't busy or I wouldn't be making a statement about it. read more

(5 adults 3 grandkids) I arrived late so my meal was chosen for me. the fajitas for 2 was very nice. rice and beans were average to above average. kids liked the crayons and ate their food so it must have been up to snuff. waitress tried hard and had a great attitude .just needs a little polish . when a table of 8 asks for more butter you don't return with 1 pat . not a server problem just lack of experience. overall a great time will by all means be back. read more
