This place is gr8. Love their Tofu Tacos. Made me lowkey wet. The crispness of the taco made my heart melt as it graced my tongue. I've never had such pleasure my life to the point where I almost passed out. I'm glad I didn't pass out tho... That would've been embarrassing and I would be banned from the restaurant. I had chips on the side with a very moist salsa, It was the best day ever, it made my life. Words cannot describe how satisfied I am with this dish. I'm going to come back every Thursday at 7 PM, make sure y'all have medics on duty because I might pass out from overwhelming pleasure. Very Disappointing. My wife & I have historically dined here at every opportunity. The menu & service in the past has been excellent. Sadly, tonight we arrived for our reservation only to find out that they are only offering a buffet & none of the excellent menu we have enjoyed in the past. My wife has food allergies that preclude her from eating several of the items on tonight's buffet. We explained to the hostess our disappointment & issue with the allergies & she had nothing to say. The food is good here, but the service is lacking. We gave it 3 chances during our resort stay and every time the wait staff disappeared and forgot about us. They seem to prefer you just pay for the pricy buffet and serve yourself. But getting drinks, water, check or anything is so very very slow. If you order anything in the menu, don't be surprised if you recurve it almost an hour after you arrived. Otherwise the ambience and food are good. read more

My husband and I searched Yelp last night for a new Sunday brunch spot, and we found Cibolo Moon. So this morning off we went, and when we approached the JW Marriott we were blown away by the massive size of this place. We live in the area but are fairly newbies...this must be the biggest hotel/resort in San Antonio. It was about 10:30 on Sunday morning so we were able to find a parking place in front since folks were checking out. Walking into the hotel we had to dodge a couple of intense valet drivers (might want to slow 'er down a bit guys). Inside the entrance was just beautiful! This resort has everything a family would want in a destination getaway. Definitely top notch. Onto the restaurant... We were actually seated without a wait since it was just the two of us. A few larger parties in front of us were asked to wait for a table, as it was prime brunch time. We were seated at a table by a window with an amazing view of the Hill Country. Our waiter was very professional and didn't hang over us - he was friendly, got us what we needed, cleared the table (perfect service). The brunch buffet was good. There was an omelet station which we didn't use after two attempts because of the long line. The buffet itself had scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, breakfast potatoes, steel-cut oatmeal (good stuff), biscuits & gravy, waffles, pancakes, fruit, cured meats, cereal, and pastries. I guess I was expecting something a little more "lunch-like" in the brunch buffet options. Isn't brunch supposed to be a combo of breakfast and lunch? Still, I wouldn't complain at all about the food. Good stuff here. Since this was our first experience at this resort we weren't prepared for what to expect, so just be prepared for a busy restaurant with lots of families with lots of kids. Several women were wearing their bathing suits with just a see-through swimsuit coverup, as they would be hitting the resort's water park after breakfast. I'm sorry but that was just strange attire to wear among others trying to eat a nice breakfast. After brunch we took a stroll around the grounds, and decided if we had kiddos, this would be the place to be. There's golf the the dads, water park for the kids, a spa for the wife...and all near Six Flags, Sea World, and the San Antonio Riverwalk. And of course, the food is good. We will be back for Sunday brunch, but after 11:30 because the restaurant was clearing out by then. Just be sure you're not looking for a quiet brunch...this place is hoppin! read more

I wasn't sure if I should give this one or two stars. The JW needs to step up and train their waitstaff better. The food actually looked pretty good but it doesn't matter when your waiter can't get the basics correct. We ordered quickly for the kids (grilled cheese and fruit). She asked if they were splitting the meal (which they were) and we asked if we could just have strawberries, of which she said yes. She left to put the order in before taking our orders since we were still looking. Well, literally 15-20 minutes went by without our kids milks being delivered, nor our order being taken. Not sure where she went. By the time she got back, she brought us grilled cheese on one plate and fruit (no strawberries in sight) in another. Really? Is it that hard? I used to be a waiter so it really annoys me when someone can't get the smallest things like bringing the milk quickly for the kids, separating plates or being somewhat attentive to have the orders placed in a timely manner (especially when you know someone has kids and it is not a leisurely dinner). This is unacceptable in a place like the JW. It would be nice to not have to drive elsewhere for dinner, but after that experience, it is exactly what we ended up doing and will likely do when we stay there again. read more

My daughters and I took a mini staycation at the JW Marriott recently, and we made 8:00pm reservations for Cibolo Moon. I'm glad we reserved a table, because the restaurant was packed with waterlogged families with hungry children looking dazed and waiting a long time for tables. We were escorted immediately to our table, well situated with a nice view of the patio and lawn. Rather than ordering from the children's menu, my girls decided to split the gargantuan chicken fried steak, which was more than enough food for the two of them. I had the burnt ends appetizer (really tasty brisket ends in BBQ sauce, topped with bleu cheese crumbles) and a spinach salad. Cibolo Moon is one of several dining options available at the resort, and I think it's a fine choice for an easy, festive dinner after a long day at the JW's fabulous pools. read more

My food was fine, as was the service. I left a $7 tip on a $30 bill but my card was charged for a $37 tip. I've worked with point of sale restaurant systems and they typically alert when the tip seems disproportionate to the total bill so I don't feel this was an error. I contacted the hotel and the charge was reversed but no one apologized or even contacted me to inform me of the credit. read more

Nothing seemed really fresh, surprising in Texas. Breakfast was greasy, maybe trying to imitate rustic western campsite food? Skip it. Service was mixed, poor for one meal and OK during another. My husband and I had dinner here. They brought us a complimentary appetizer of gulf shrimp, because we were first time customers--very nice. My husband had the special (looked like Ground Beef hash with potatoes to me) and I had the Beet Salad. It was a bit noisy, but it had a fun atmosphere. We passed the All-You-Can-Eat Buffet on the way in, looked great, but not many takers. I would question how fresh it would be, because it was slow. The waiter was comical and very helpful. Over priced mediocre food. We went to a party at this restaurant last night. The host purchased appetizers which consisted of chips and salsa, quac, and cheese dip. I thought it was such weird food for such a classy looking place. The guacamole was tasteless. The cheese dip looked like like a dip from 1990's with canned fake cheese and some Röteln tomatoes. The salsa was good. There was a brisket taco that was really good but it was served with a horrid greasy corn tortilla. For the meal I ordered the snapper and my husband ordered the filet (medium rare). The fish was over cooked. The steak was medium well. For $42 the stake should have been right. The fish was such a small portion with 10 French style green beans on the plate. I got our bill and looked to see a 24% service charge. Talk about bad taste! We had mediocre service, mediocre food and had to pay 24%service charge? So the top thing that really made me angry was when the manager went up to the host and told her we didn't spend enough money there and she would have to pay additionally money. The solution was for her to order a bunch of food to take home with her. I've never heard of such crap in my life. It was a really bad first impression! read more

Even after I read all the reviews about this place, I was still interested in trying it out, and it fell short. The burnt ends we're tasty but my GF said they needed to be more crunchy and that they were too greasy. The tortillas that came with the burnt ends we're out of place with the appetizer and tasted like the 99 cent tortillas from the grocery store. I ordered the baby back ribs and they were good. My GF ordered there nightly special, and that was a pork tenderloin. I was very disappointed with the dish and the grits that it came with we're cold and horrible. The presentation of the food was very poor. About 75% of the way through our meal, we discovered that we had small little brown napkins and every other table had nice linen napkins. The infused tequilas were the star of the meal. We ordered a strawberry jalapeño and a raspberry habanero and they were both tasty. I'm glad I tried it but would not recommend to others. read more

We ate at Cibolo Moon each morning of our stay. We ate the buffet each day since there were so many options. We got seated right away, even around 900a. Within 15 to 20 minutes after we sat down, it started to get busy. There were a ton of options on the buffet which is nice to see. HOT FOOD: eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy, waffles, pancakes COLD FOOD: salmon/lox, yogurt, fruit (honeydew, watermelon, pineapple, canteloupe) PASTRY: muffins (blueberry, banana nut), danish (cheese and fruit filled), croissants, white bread, sticky buns (delicious) and jalapeno and cheese biscuits. I am sure I am missing something, but they also had lots of condiments. Candied jalapeno, whisky syrup, whisky butter, whipped butter, honey, lots of jams and jellies. This makes the buffet so much more worthwhile. There are just so many options when you choose the food you want. The omelette station was great. I think the guy had three or four pans going at the same time and there were lots of different options. This was a great buffet. read more
