Love this new location where the Ruby Tuesday's used to be & wish it had been warm so I could have used their gorgeous patio. MUCH more spacious than the original location and therefore much quieter too. Great bar seating, which we took advantage of as it was busy on a Monday morning about 10am. Quick & pleasant service. Delicious Pineapple Upside Down Mimosa. Delicious hashbrowns, added chest and caramelized onion. Perfect bacon. Best scrambled eggs I've had at a restaurant in a long time. Very moist & perfectly cheesy. Had never had croissant French toast before, turns out it's great. Was a little dry but butter and syrup fixed that. It was my 1st time here. I really enjoyed this place! Was a little bit of a wait to get a table, but I understand why. The environment is really nice! Theres lots of space for walking through and I didn't feel cramped in at all. Everything was very clean and classy feeling but is still casual dress. The staff were all very friendly. And I love that the area inside is so well lit by sunshine because the larger windows. This place is absolutely horrible!! Jasmine was our server & my god was she the worst. First off, when she came to our table she never told us the specials, or offer us drinks. I know it was busy but she could of at least started with that... I ordered a omelette and my husband got French toast after waiting another 10-15 minutes on her to gather the drinks and she dropped off a check at a table then stood at a table talking. I was trying to be understanding but we did wait over a hour just to be sat. I told her I wanted to speak to the manger and that was a bigger mistake. It's pretty smart of them to open a breakfast & brunch place in the middle of Virginia Blvd and Laskin Rd so people don't have to go all the way to Ocean Front to have breakfast & brunch. There's not much restaurant in VB that has a good sense of interior design AND sells good food AND no over-pricing menu. The services are not extremely good but it isn't bad. It really depends. The food: Hash browns 5/5: It was delicious. The outside of it has a very strong butter taste and it was crispy, which I liked it so much. Egg Benedict 4/5: I had a broken poached egg, which is sad cuz breaking the yolk is the key of eating an egg to me lol. The Hollandaise sauce could have more taste in it. Oyster egg Benedict (Seasonal) 5/5: The poached eggs didn't break this time. The oysters were fried, which brought out the taste of the oysters. Soft-shell crab Benedict (Seasonal) 3.5/5: The soft-shell crab was not crispy enough. I like the oyster one better. Jumbo Lump Crab Benedict 3.5/5: I thought it would be more different that what I ordered. Basically it is just an Egg Benedict with some crab meats on top. Nothing special(They could think of making the sauce differently). Pancakes3/5: Although their pancakes are huger than my face and they only cost $1.99 for two, the center of them was kinda uncooked. Maybe it's too huge that their chef can't control the heat well? Grapefruit+Orange juice 5/5: It's so fresh and this combination is really good. It's just kinda pricy ($3 something, no refill, small glass). Overall, the food can be counted as "good" in VB because I've tasted better brunch in some other states. But hey, it's VB! It is defiantly a good place for a group of friends and family to have a breakfast or bunch. This place is a great spot for breakfast and brunch. I personally love their jumbo lump crab benedict and the citrus pankcakes. Im not a fan of pancakes but these are too good not to have. Fresh fruit and a delicious marmalade come with the pancakes making them super unique. I would give Citrus 5 stars if they had an unlimited mimosa option, but they dont. The cocktails are tasty but can get a but pricey if youre a lush like myself. read more

We arrived around 8am which is a good time to arrive because by the time you leave, there is a packed waiting area of hungry people waiting to be seated. Every time I visit here, I go straight for the Soft Shell Crab Eggs Benedict. The market price was $21.99. Worth every bite!! When it's in season, get it while you can! I think the last time I visited Citrus it was in 2011. Funny enough it was actually the very first picture I ever posted on Instagram! I actually had a GREAT meal here, so taste was not the reason why its taken me 5 years to return. More like life. Anyway, decided to visit the newer (and closer) location the other day and once again I was totally impressed! My friend and I visited this spot after a heavy gym session so we were starved! The wait wasn't terrible. But everything seems longer when you're hungry. I really like this new location! So open and there is SO MUCH SPACE with so many windows! I love all of the natural light it lets on. Great design work! Food was perfect! I got the Crossfit. Which no one has seemed to comment on! So I'm excited to be the first. I REALLY LOVED this meal! Its Turkey, Avocado, Beets, Spinach and Hummus on a sliced marinated Portobello mushroom. And I got to choose my side which was steamed broccoli-duh! haha. Anyway, there were some awesome flavors on this! I always get really worried about beets. They can sometimes have such a strong, over powering, earthy flavor and on many occasions have ruined my meal. But when prepared correctly (or maybe purchased at the peak of ripeness) they can compliment a dish perfectly. This was one of those times. Everything really flowed on this dish, and there was actually an underlying pizza favor? Maybe it was something the mushroom was marinated in? Or maybe it was just my silly taste buds, but hey, I was NOT complaining! The dish also had a good amount of turkey on it! I was worried there wouldn't be enough meat, so I ordered a side of chicken sausage which was cooked perfectly-not dry. Which I was worried about. This meal as a whole was light, yet filling. I didn't leave feeling like I wanted be get rolled out of there. Which was nice for once! ha. I would definitely recommend this dish to all of the health conscious eaters out there! My friend got the Country Fried steak and some Pumpkin pancakes. I had a bite of the CFS and it was pretty good! And he was kind enough to give me a pancake. It was GREAT! The taste was on point. And it came with maple pecan syrup, if I'm correct? Very very good! As we were walking out we eyed the desserts they had on display and couldn't take another set without snagging one. Ugh! It was one of their giant Peanut Butter Caramel Cupcakes. Phenomenal!! I had one bite and made my friend take it from me because bad things were about to happen to that helpless cupcake. First impression is great. We came at 7am on the dot and everyone was super friendly and nice (perky but not overly so). The restaurant itself is spacious, open, and airy, which adds a nice touch to a place dedicated to breakfast and brunch. There are green, yellow, and orange glass panels in the middle of the restaurant that reflect some gorgeous lighting. Food was very hearty and delicious without being too heavy and rich feeling. I would say everything did need a sprinkle of extra salt but that was an easy fix. Soft shell crab benedict was nicely fried while still soft, and the spinach and tomato added some greens to it. We got the hash browns loaded (cheese and onions) and that tasted better than the regular ones. Jumbo crab omelette was fluffy and had great crab meat in it, and their sausage links are thick and juicy. I loved the citrus glaze on the citrus pancakes (tangy, a bit sweet, and not heavy at all). I ordered a double espresso and asked for it to be over ice and it was amazing. Our server added some milk to it and with a tiny bit of sugar it made a great iced coffee. The wait was longer than we like for breakfast but it was worth it. Once we were in, the staff was attentive and upbeat. The food arrived quickly and it was hot and delicious. Our server Kathleen was very nice, professional and checked in with us regularly with a smile. One other thing, this was the only breakfast place we've been to all week that had gluten free bread so that I could have toast along with everyone else for breakfast. Yay. read more

There is nothing wrong with Citrus. It is a better-than-average breakfast diner in a nice location with a friendly, competent staff and a good selection of food and drinks. Their prices are reasonable and there is almost always a waiting list to be seated. They are one of the better breakfast places in Virginia Beach. For any major metropolitan area, Citrus would be an "also-ran". The hollandaise sauce for their variety of eggs benedict dishes is bland. The hash browns are slightly underdone on the inside and just barely crispy on the outside. The drip coffee is okay, but is kind of weak and nothing special (think IHOP coffee). Creamer is served in pre-packaged plastic cups. Citrus is an okay diner and a place I am happy to go eat when I am invited as part of a group. It is not the kind of place I would rave about to friends. read more

Citrus is definitely a go-to place for brunch. It's a very popular spot. I've never been when it wasn't jam-packed with guests. Even when it's raining. The wait can sometimes be pretty long, but it's worth it. All their food is really good. We always enjoy our meals there and just basically devour our whole plates. Their variety of mimosas are also delicious. I could drink them all day long! There servers are extremely friendly. Several of them walked by and asked how we were doing. I think all of the servers have the same kind of sorority-girl look to them at both locations, but they have always been super nice and attentive. I really enjoy coming here. read more

BUYER BEWARE!!!!! The food here is not good at all. I went here this weekend and ordered the mango french toast with almonds. It looked delicious and like it could be a specialty item but trust me when I tell you there is NOTHING special about this dish. I also had the Western omelet which was flavorless & the hash browns were also trash. The best part of my meal was the toast which was regular toast which I added jelly to. I could do that at home and save $40! I actually told my server we did not like the French toast bc it wasn't good and the server said she would have it taken off. Than she apparently went and told who was assigned to be my server who wasn't very attentive Nielle at all that we were not satisfied & she immediately came over to tell us she had no plans to take it off because we ate more than 2 bites. REALLY! Two bites between two people! WTF! I confirmed the last server told us she would remove it because we were not satisfied with it. Nielle than said she would check with her manager. She came back and proceeded to say she spoke to the manager who also said that it's not possible to remove the item we were not satisfied with. The manager didn't even have the courtesy to come out and speak with us so I requested to speak to the manager. The manager April who came out stated that it's simply the policy and nothing they could do and made it a point to point out that they even have a sign at the door saying the same thing. I've never heard of this in food service at all but I really think it's complete crap to force a sale to someone of food that is not satisfactory and still force it on someone who isn't satisfied. They even offered to give me a to go box for the plate of food we expressed we did not like. RUDE! I would never go back or recommend this place to anyone moving forward. read more

Well, I came back five days later for the Citrus pancakes. We had a table of 7, a baby, and two dogs, so the wait was substantially longer due to it being a Sunday and having to eat on the patio. Considering this, the wait wasn't bad at all. Had another Bloody Mary (or two!) and mimosas while we waited. The citrus pancakes are everything I hoped for and more. It was on Food Network for a reason, y'all. You can't leave Virginia Beach without having brunch here. Friendly staff, fresh local food, and great drinks! Also, the sweet potato biscuits. Visiting some family down here (I'm from NYC) and my aunt decided to bring us to Citrus for our first lunch of the trip. Even before eating, the first thing I really enjoyed was that the entire restaurant had a solid, consistent aesthetic from the menus to the decor etc. I thought that was really cool. I got a chicken sandwich and some of my other family members got breakfast, all of which was delicious. I liked that the servings weren't GIGANTIC (like a traditional diner) and I was able to finish everything since it was a human-sized portion. I tried a bit of pancake too and they were fantastic! They taste like malt pancakes to me but I'm not too sure. Anyway, I wish we'd come here a second time because it was a really nice lunch experience. read more

We came here on 7/28/16 around 1pm, and enjoyed our meal so much. Our wait time wasn't bad, about 15-20 mins. Seeing as how it was pretty busy and close to closing time, I was expecting longer. After our buzzer alerted us, we were seated and right away our waitress Kendall came to give us menus and introduce herself. She was very attentive and polite the whole time. I told her I was in the mood for a sweet-ish mimosa and she recommended that I try the "heat wave".. glad I did, it was very tasty and refreshing.. definitely appropriate for the 100 degree weather during that time. All of our meals were delicious and cooked to perfection. Everything just tasted so fresh and homemade. My son boasted that the turkey bacon was the "best he'd ever had"! Citrus is a must-stop restaurant when we visit VA Beach. It is so good. I have only ever been on a Sunday morning so there is always a wait. It's usually under 30 min and there is plenty of seating in the lobby. The food is delicious! They serve every combination of eggs you can think of. The breakfast meats, hash browns and sides are always on point. The pancakes are amazing too. They have bar options as well, usually in the form Of Mimosas, but I believe they have more options as well. As I mentioned I've only been there for breakfast. For the amount of food you get, the menu is reasonably priced and I have always walked away stuffed to the gills. The wait staff is very friendly and very accommodating. There is outdoor seating on the patio that allows pets (not something I am a personal fan of, but it's an option). I highly recommend Citrus if you are in the area. read more

My friends and I started coming to citrus every Monday. We called it "Mimosa Monday" because they're regular mimosas are $3 each. I normally order coffee with French vanilla creamer with either eggs Benedict or the vegan hash with extra salsa. We normally sat at the bar and the bar tenders were always super nice to us. This was so therapeutic and much needed, that it went from mimosa Monday to us eating here every other day! I've been here a few times, always had great food. Yesterday I went on a weekday and chose to eat outside to avoid the usual wait. I wanted the mango French toast (because I've had it before and it was incredible) but asked and found out there was no way to order a half order of 2 slices instead of 4 so I opted for the citrus pancakes to save money and not waste the food. I was glad that the pancakes came with a choice of meat, my bacon was pretty good. I asked if I could substitute the eggs for something else but was told that wasn't an option. Had the Spanish omelette (bacon, onions, tomatoes ,peppers) with no cheese and a side of cubed potatoes and toast! The wait was 40+ minutes so my hubby and I decided to sit at the bar and only had to wait 15mins. The service was quick, order the food and it came out within 10 mins! Food was hot and delicious. The only recommendation i have, is to add more bacon to the omelette, my omelette barely had any bacon in it. My husband ordered a citrus mimosa that he really enjoyed.
