Really enjoyed brunch here. A little bit of a wait but that's expected for a popular breakfast/lunch spot. Very friendly staff and great menu choices. Food was delicious I ordered the Citrus pancakes they were fluffy and flavorful the orange glaze was a great topper. I also had eggs, turkey sausage, hash browns & grits on the side. Those were good would have preferred my turkey sausage & eggs to be cooked a tad bit longer. My husband ordered the soft shell crab Benedict that's was amazing as well. Where to begin ...........on entering citrus you're greeted by very friendly staff , the decor is fantastic and aptly suits the name citrus. It's very open and vibrant. On ordering food I couldn't make my mind up because everything looked delicious. I opted for the fried chicken eggs Benedict (scrambled) in a biscuit with sausage gravy, my girlfriend chose the citrus pancakes that were featured on DDD. Whilst waiting for the food the staff were curious and catered to our needs in regards to drinks ( refills ). Then the food came - OMG never before have I had anything that was cooked so perfectly. (Usually I will find a flaw - this was flawless) eggs cooked perfectly , chicken succulent and the gravy and biscuits were to die for. The hash browns !!!! Holy crap these were amazing crispy on the outside with a buttery moist centre MMmmmmmmm!. I tried my girlfriends pancakes , and without shadow of a doubt they were the best pancakes I have ever had , nice and fluffy , the citrus sauce really sets them off. It was like an explosion of awesomeness in my mouth !!!!!!. Needless to say this is by far my favourite breakfast place in America and if I could live there I would , failing that I guarantee I will be visiting there ALOT more often!!!!! read more

Came in after the new year for a good start. Though it was a weekday, I was surprised how packed it was. We were seated immediately by the hostess and our waitress came over shortly. She asked if we wanted anything besides water and I ended up getting their apple mimosa. She let me know ahead of time it was more like a glass of champagne with a dash and I told her that was fine. I looked over the menu and noted they had a lot of items to offer. After a few minutes she came back with drinks then asked if we were ready. I had the steak (medium well) and eggs with a sweet biscuit, while my dad got an omelette. We also go a side order of pancakes to split. After a few minutes of chatting our food came out. It looked pretty good so I was ready to dig in. My scrambled eggs were good and the biscuit was really nice also. The only negative thing about this restaurant was that we waited to be seated for almost 45 minutes on a Tuesday morning; which in essence just validated how good this place was. Called them around 8am Monday morning to see if they were able to accommodate 17 of us at 10:30am, a very sweet gal I spoke to on the phone (I forgot her name) said yes but we may have to sit booths back to back which was perfectly fine with us & to call back around 10 to see the wait time. I then called back at 10 just to see if there was a long wait & the gal said they had our tables set up & just waiting on us! I was not expecting that! We got there & they had us all sitting together! Our waitress (I also forgot her name, I know I'm sorry ) helped us all & was just on point & very patient. I know handling a large group is not easy but she was so great including everyone that assisted! I've been here plenty of times & its always been great but this time deserved a review!!! I saw online that Citrus had been showcased on Diners, drive ins, and dives on the Food Network. I knew this place had to be good, so while vacationing in Virginia Beach, my daughter and I knew we had to eat there. I was definitely not disappointed. The atmosphere was very nice and inviting. The staff was amazing and extremely friendly. Both my daughter and I ordered the country fried chicken Benedict. It was so big that neither of us could finish it. It was very good and fresh. I've wanted to try this place out since there always seems to be a line out the door when I drive by on Sundays after church. I decided to take my mother here after taking her to the spa last Saturday afternoon. When we walked in we were immediately greeted and then seated. It didn't take long for the waitress to come by our table to take our drink orders. We told her it was our first time and she offered some recommendations. We ended up ordering the crab benedict and lobster special, which were both delicious. We also had to try the fresh squeezed orange lemonade... yum! Checked out the new Citrus, and it was a good experience. Wow the building and decor is fabulous!!! I felt like I was in Florida!!! There was a wait for a table but it was only about 10 mins, so that was cool. We were greeted within 3 mins of sitting down, and our service was nice, and consistent. I was there with one other person, she had coffee and I am big on coffee so I tried it, it was ok, a little weak for me though.Our food took about 20-25 mins to get, which was no problem, the atmosphere is amazing, and they were busy for sure. I ordered the famous citrus pancakes, 2 eggs, and hashbrowns with cheese. Everything tasted FABULOUS!! My favorite part was how fluffy the pancakes were!!! We went here on a Tuesday morning, so we didn't have to wait at all. I was unsure if this place was actually going to be good because it seems like a lot of Virginia Beach restaurants have high reviews, so I didn't know if this place would be overrated or not. Conclusion: it's not. I had the citrus pancakes (2) topped with banana and pineapple pieces and the citrus glaze. The pancakes were yummy and flavorful without being heavy. Each pancake order is also served with two eggs and your choice of sausage (patties or links) or bacon. I also had the freshly squeezed orange lemonade, which was really refreshing and not over-sweetened. I also knew it was freshly squeezed because it took a long time for them to bring it out after I ordered it. Drinks usually come out pretty quickly. I also really enjoyed the atmosphere here: the colors, those resembling that of a citrus fruit, were bright and welcoming, which is perfect for starting off the day. I will definitely be returning here if given the chance, especially to try the softshell crab benedict (once I make some money though because it's ~22). I wouldn't come here for lunch though because the breakfast menu is the star of this restaurant. read more

I ordered the seafood omlete like I have before but this time I ordered corn beef hash. It was delicious....Tons of chopped corn beef, grilled onions and peppers and potatoes. So, this time I decided not to get any breakfast food especially since that's what they're known for. I ordered the chicken salad sandwich on sourdough bread with French fries. The taste of the sandwich was great, there were big chunks of chicken in the chicken salad. The fries were seasoned very well, just wish there was a bigger portion. I also had a taste of my wife's banana pancakes. The flavor of the pancakes were great, but what made the pancakes pop was the pecan glaze that came on the side. There are still some things I'd like to try on the menu, so I'm pretty sure I'll be back. read more

Pros: Atmosphere, large menu selection, drink menu, competitively priced. Cons: Long waits, poor attention to food quality, service when busy is less than adequate. Bottom line... If you want to drink at brunch, go here. If you want a quality meal you might consider this as a second or third option. We were not acknowledged until we asked how much longer the wait would be (45 min after we arrived). Seeing names that arrived after us being crossed off before we were seated only added to the frustration. The food arrived quickly...a little too quickly. Eggs were slightly under done (runny scrambled eggs), pancakes were done on the outsides but slightly doughy and under done towards the middle. Not enough to ruin the meal but definitely noticeable. On the upside, prices are reasonable. Quality and service consistent of a 2.5 star establishment. read more

Went here for Sunday brunch with some friends who had previously been and really liked it. Although the initial read on our hostess was a little cold- our waitress was an absolute gem and if I was evaluating on her service alone it would have been 5 stars. The food itself was pretty average quality diner food but it came quick and the price was pretty reasonable. I had the special Banana Pudding pancakes which were good and a latte that our incredible waitress drew a picture of a baby in for me (I'm 7 months pregnant). Such a love! My cousins and I came here for brunch before we headed back to NoVA from the beach. I was happy with their menu selection as it hit many of our different appetites. I got the eggs Benedict. The wait was shorter than quoted. The ambiance is great. Our server was excellent. She was very attentive and interacted with our kids. I think her name was Erica, blonde, in her 30s. I wish I could remember her name. I had the banana pancakes. They were fluffy and delicious. The waffle was good too. NEVER EVER EVER AGAIN! I went here for a birthday brunch. The wait for a table was a little lengthy but not too bad, however our 1st server acted like she couldn't have been less interested. We moved to another table because we needed more room, which also put us in a better server's area. I ended up ordering the mango almond croissant french toast, the smoked gouda grits, and a fried chicken breast to eat with my grits vs. shrimp which of course was an additional $8. I also ordered a mermaid mimosa. The mimosa was great, however the food was horrible. All of my food was cold, it tasted low quality and was definitely over priced. The The grits where laughably unseasoned there was no smoke on the gouda it was the WORST smoke cheese I've ever had. With all of the meats they listed as part of the dish they literally only put a pinch of eat which amounted to a big bowl of seasonless grits for like $13 with almost no protein. The croissants they use for the french toast tasted like lil Debbie made them, they'd be better off going to Sam's. It was just nasty... The chicken breast was good but small and definitely not worth $8. With tip my ticket ended up being almost $80... The while experience was ridiculous the food was disgusting and probably never go back even if someone else is willing to pay... read more

Came here for Saturday brunch. You know a place is good when it's crowded and a lot of people are willing to wait half an hour. There were a lot of options on the menu and it seemed like for most dishes, you get a lot for a good price. I got the jumbo lump crab benedict with hash browns and a tropical mimosa. Everything came out quickly and I was very satisfied with it all. The crab meat was a nice addition to the eggs benedict. I had ordered my hash brown with cheese and onion, not knowing that it was was a dollar extra but it was delicious nonetheless. The tropical mimosa was a nice blend of flavors. I also tried my friend's citrus mimosa which I enjoyed as well despite containing cranberry juice (could hardly taste it). Overall I would definitely come here again when I'm in the area. read more

We never bothered with the original Citrus since it was so far away on Shore drive and the intelligence on wait times for Brunch was highly discouraging. With this second, and much larger, Citrus now open we finally tried it out a couple of Sundays ago. Even with the larger venue, we had to wait over an hour for a table. I guess they just can't help being popular. You can try to snag a seat at the bar which is first come first serve if that is your thing. However, we wanted a table and when we finally got one, we were starving. Spending an hour watching all that incredible looking food pass by your face is pure torture. The $5 Bloody's and mimosa's are well worth it. Just keep your expectations in line. It isn't champagne you are getting with your OJ, it is cheap sparkling wine. But at the price you pay I am okay with that. Food really was excellent. I had the bennies with lump crab meat. Hash browns with onions on the side. I don't remember what my lady or our friend had. I was too enamored with my own plate of food. I would gladly wait another hour to get my hands on another plate of crab bennies. It was a heck of a way to kick off a Sunday. read more
