Our first table ended up being under a spotlight that was directly in our line of sight (it looked like it was meant for the specials board), so we asked to move. Staff was accommodating and got us to a better table quickly. The space itself is really nice. It was clean, rustically decorated, and the live plants in liquor bottles on the tables are a nice touch. Our server was friendly from the start and took drink orders right away. My daughter and I had sodas, and my husband ordered the Southern Charm Old Fashioned off the specials menu, which he enjoyed. The menu is on the smaller side, which we actually like. One unique detail was the option to "buy a round for the kitchen," which we thought was a really nice touch and decided to add it when we ordered our appetizer. We started with the fried deviled eggs after a friend recommended them. They were creative with three styles (classic with pickle, togarashi ginger, and crispy prosciutto), but overall a bit on the dry side and not as flavorful as we expected. We asked for Dijon, but they don't have it. Our server suggested and brought out the Baja dipping sauce instead, which did pair well and kind of improved them. My husband had the fish and chips and really enjoyed it. He said the fish was flaky and well cooked. I ordered the Union grilled cheese, which unfortunately seemed like it had been sitting a bit before being served, as the bottom was soggy. It was just okay overall and not particularly memorable for the price. The sweet potato fries on the side were the clear standout. They were crispy, the perfect balance of sweet and salty and honestly the best part of the dish. Our daughter had the kid's smashburger. It was exactly that. Service throughout the meal was good. She was friendly, attentive without being overbearing, and there when needed. The main disappointment came at the end. When our meals were served, the server actually offered sauces at the table (ketchup, mayo, ranch, etc.), and specifically suggested items like the baja sauce for the eggs and ranch to us. Because of that, we were surprised to see several charges for the sauces on the bill, especially since they were offered and recommended at the table with no mention of any additional cost. We were also charged a credit card fee, with no signage anywhere (entrance, hostess stand, or menu) indicating that paying with a card would include an extra charge. It just left an unnecessary sour note on an otherwise solid, casual meal. Nothing was bad, and nothing really stood out as exceptional, but the lack of transparency around those final charges really impacted the overall experience for us.

I got my crab cake sandwich and hush puppies (which I included a photo of), my grandma and mom got bang bang shrimp, one brother got hot dogs and the other got chicken strips. Then, an incomplete party of 6 was sat at one of the large booths. We expressed concern to the hostess and were told we were "next on the list". Another hosted arrived and explained that we were not sat in the order we arrived because of the infant and the high top. We expressed we would like to sit at the high top and then we were provided a high chair that fit at the high top table.. First come first serve was not what was practiced here today, and unfortunately I was with an infant so we felt it a little harder than we would have otherwise. Overall it was very disappointing. We typically love the food and the service. We just hope that this doesn't become a trend - would hate to see this place go downhill..

It's not fancy, but the food is better than many places pretending to be much fancier and you're not paying for decorations or expensive wall and floor coverings. I can't wait to go back for their rib night, I have been told by many friends that they are very good.

MY GO-TO & FAVORITE BRUNCH PLACE! First learned abut Citrus from co-workers raving about the food and drinks and decided to try it out a few months ago. I'm glad I took their advice!! After numerous visits, this has become my #1 place to bring friends visiting from out of town and general weekend breakfast place. They have the typical breakfast combos - pancakes, french toast, eggs benny, waffles, etc. Nothing has ever disappointed and they have their own takes/twists on the food. They're generous with their portions and their waitstaff is friendly and make sure your coffee cup is never empty. Although the wait time can range anywhere from 30 mins to 1 hr, their bar is open to kill time and their back patio provides a space for everyone waiting - big plus there's more outdoor seating and even cornhole to play to pass the time. Definitely try their drinks...there's a large variety of mixed drinks and mimosas ($3 for a regular, $7+ for their specialty ones). I believe their specials change every weekend; each one I've tried has never disappointed and is definitely delicious. When I'm not trying their specials, I usually get my typical eggs benny with home fries - always great and never any complaints. Overall, a great place for brunch and great food! read more

I visited your restaurant in Virginia Beach for breakfast on 7/14/25 at 11:00 AM. Unfortunately, my experience was disappointing due to the unprofessional behavior of our server. The waitress had an unfriendly attitude and responded with a smart mouth on several occasions. After bringing our orange juices, she accidentally spilled one on the table. When I pointed it out, she said she would return but after five minutes passed and no one came, I asked again if the table could be wiped. She curtly replied, "I said I was going to come back." While taking our order, she first had her back turned, making it difficult to communicate. I also had to flag her down just to get a simple refill. When the check arrived, I immediately attempted to give her my credit card, but while I retrieved it, she impatiently said, "I have other things I have to do," despite the restaurant not being busy at all. Overall, her attitude and lack of attention to basic service made the experience unpleasant. I'm sharing this in hopes it can be addressed, as this level of service is not what I expect from your establishment. read more

WARNING This place is a tourist trap. The food sucks and the owners know it. They know that a lot of tourist visit the area and will only come to their restaurant once. So they don't care how there food taste as long as they can get your money. All the positives reviews on here are from the owners, their family and friends. Just check their Facebook page. You will see the same people who post on here on their Facebook page. They are all friends. The food here is horrible. ALL OF IT. This is the kind of place you come to and never come back. And what's worse, the owners are very mean people. If you complain about the food they get really pissed off and go off on you. Be careful because the owner Lance has a very bad temper and just might assault you if you complain about their food. He can be very violent so be careful. Better yet, just stay away from this place. I have been to this place twice and the food just plan sucks. I would not recommend his place to anyone. It's not worth it. Go to Golden Corral instead. At least there you will find something eatable. read more

My family member came into town unexpectedly. My whole house hold family is doing a cleanse so we literally have nothing in the house. The family member woke me up and said wanted breakfast so I said, "I can call Citrus and we can do a to go order after I make my shake!" When I called, she told me they do not do to go orders over the phone on weekends. I was so hurt because I wanted to go in and out. That was the only downside of today. It is understandable on why they don't do it over the phone because they're soooooo busy (parking lot is always packed). So when we got there today we were greeted and helped right away. I believe we waited for about 10 minutes which isn't bad around the bar and watched everyone make mimosas. I appreciate how the staff was also asking if we were already helped which was a great feeling. We will always be coming back. read more

The food here is horrible. I ordered the Cape Henry Breakfast Special. (2 Eggs any style with grits, toast and bacon) The eggs were very watery and they only give you one slice of toast. I never been to a restaurant and ordered breakfast and get only one slice of toast. Every other restaurant gives you two slices of toast. Everything was so nasty that I couldn't eat. The grits were the worse I ever had. I took one spoon full and I had to spit it out. I told the server to take it back. Then the owner Lance gave me a dirty look because I sent the grits back. When I paid my check the owner Lance told me that if I don't like their grits then try to find some place else to eat. He was so rude and obnoxious. I will never go back there again. The owner is an idiot and the food sucks. Stay away from this place. It's not worth it. read more

Do not eat here. You will die. My wife and I just been here today for breakfast and she got food poisoning and is in the hospital. She said she thinks it was the grits because it taste like chemicals. I had the grits too but I didn't eat them because to me they tasted foul. About 45 minutes after we left the restaurant my wife began to get sick. She started vomiting and she was getting severe abdominal pain and fever. I took her to the emergency room and after some blood test she was diagnosed with food poisoning. She was admitted and is now getting intravenous antibiotic treatment for the food poisoning. Please please please DO NOT eat here. I would hate to see someone else get sick. I hope the owners do something about their food. It is contaminated and making people sick. read more

1 Star because I can't go lower. Sunday breakfast wait staff is a bunch of high-schoolers except maybe two late-twenty-somethings. They walk around like zombies because they don't have their phones to keep them occupied or tell them what to do/think. Manager is creepy, which explains the H.S. age wait staff. Didn't try the food because the zombies are apparently incapable of taking orders. We DID get our drinks, which were delivered by a surly waitress who thinks that carrying drink glasses with her greasy meat-hooks wrapped around the rim is sanitary and good service. Won't be back. Of course they won't miss us because there are enough stupid millenials to buy into Citrus' hype, poor service and over-priced basic (fast) food. read more

I've been to both Citrus locations and have been thrilled every time! I finally ordered the crab benedict (for lunch!) instead of my usual scrambled eggs because I was feeling bold haha. Anyway, it was as incredible as all their food is. The reason I always get the scrambled eggs is because they have an unrivaled fluffy consistency. I finally asked how they do that and the waitress said they put the eggs in a blender first. Who knew! It's these extra steps that makes them so good I think, and it was really kind of her to let me know that. Also, this is the ONLY place where I don't have to tell them how to cook the bacon, they do it right every time, a little crispy. You can't go wrong at Citrus. read more

Citrus restaurant used to be a favorite during our vacations, but it has gone downhill. The breakfast, once tasty, is now comparable to IHOP, and the menu lacks anything special. We were surprised that there was no wait time when we visited on a weekend at 9 am. Moreover, the lack of Wi-Fi was disappointing, and the data signal was weak. The overall customer experience is basic, with nothing remarkable to mention. There are other great breakfast spots in town that offer a terrific menu and use local ingredients, so I would pass on Citrus. read more

Amazing food every time!! This is a great place for anyone-families, couples, individuals...Indoor has a great bar and dining area, while the outdoor patio area is perfect when weather permits. You can have a girls brunch, family outing, a meeting, or just enjoy the sunshine while having one of their amazing mimosas or enjoying something from their menu! There are plenty of healthy options. The highlight of our visit was the southern comfort sandwich. So delicious. I've of never thought to put bbq and Mac n cheese on a sandwich but it was fantastic. Service was mediocre. Server seemed more occupied with sitting down to chat with a friend a couple booths over. Drinks where decent. Bloody Mary was good, just seemed bland. The wait was at least 15 minutes or so long, but it was TOTALLY worth it! Guy Feiri came here some years ago shooting his hit show on 'Food Network', 'Diners, Drive ins, and Dives'. The eggs are so 'melt in your mouth' with the cheese and everything. My mouth is watering just typing these! I am HUGE on brunch and this place never disappoints. The only downside to being so good is that the wait is never less that 25-30 minutes, but it's worth it!! Tip: if you're going on Sunday get there EARLY! The wait is always close to an hour!! read more

It was a 1950s-style diner with a great atmosphere, but the waitresses, with their sour faces and attitudes, were distracting, to say the least. We ordered our food; I got the veggie burrito. Sherri asked me if I wanted salsa and sour cream on the side. I said sure! I started to realize she might be charging me for things I'm unaware of when I asked for hot tea and honey. I ended up getting the honey first from someone else who brought it over because she forgot my tea for some time before even noticing. The honey came in a little sealed jar. I asked her, when she finally brought my tea, if I had to pay for the honey. She told me it was 1.75 for it! She could tell I was shocked and got huffy-puffy with me and said, "What, you don't want your tea now?" and I told her I did, but I never opened the honey because I was catching on to what she was doing. I eventually told her to take the honey jar back, and I would use sugar instead. When we asked her for boxes, she brought them to us and just stood there, interrupting our conversation, forcing us to check out right then and there! It was super uncomfortable... I was feeling suspicious of her, so I asked to see my receipt because she obviously wasn't planning on giving me one. She wanted me to pay directly on her toast tablet and do it immediately because she was just awkwardly standing there! And as I asked for a receipt, we told her we wanted to split the pancake we shared because we were paying separately. She became noticeably agitated and said she wouldn't be able to print my receipt then.. which didn't make any sense at all. My friend and I both used those toast tablets at prior serving jobs, we knew she was being fishy. We told her just don't split it then, bring us receipts. She brought them with an attitude and bad energy and walked away. I was charged for the salsa and sour cream she OFFERED me without letting me know they were an upcharge! My home fries came out burnt, and the burrito had absolutely no flavor. I didn't even use the sour cream; I was debating asking for a manager and getting it off my bill... but my friend and I figured if she has been here this long with that kind of service, management obviously doesn't care and is in on the scheming behavior too. I DID NOT tip her, because she was being deceptive the entire time. I did not ASK for sour cream and salsa; she offered it to me and never let me know it was an upcharge. Her attitude is also a big factor in why she did not get a tip from me, and I'm usually a 20 percent or more tipper. She also quickly turned it away from me when I was signing the tablet and mumbled something again, then went over to another waitress, and i could visibly see her talking crap about me. I tried to call and talk to a manager, but you can't call to talk to anyone; they don't even have a welcoming voicemail! I will NEVER EVERRRRRRRRR go back to this place, and I will tell everyone I know about the experience too. Stay away from this soul-sucking place!

Our server was Kesheila and she was so sweet. I haven't had a great server like this in so long. I ordered the barbacoa chilaquiles breakfast bowl and it was delicious. I would definitely order this again. It was also 54grams of protein. My fiancé ordered the tri-fecta with lemon ricotta pancakes. The lemon curd was so fluffy. The lemon curd was the right amount of sweetness. We didn't need to add syrup while eating the pancake. The eggs were cooked over medium and it was perfect. We also tried the morning meditation on their limited time fall menu. The drink tasted refreshing. It was breezy and the drank fell after we tried a couple sips of it. They brought us a new one and we are totally grateful. We enjoyed the food and will definitely be back to this location.

Both were refreshing, the lavender lemonade could have been alittle stronger but still a great drink for brunch. For our entrees I ordered the Trifecta with the Belgian waffle and pork sausage links. I feel like that's a staple at the restaurant and it hits the spot every time. On the other hand my partner ordered the hash bowl- market style and it came out looking amazing. You get a huge portion and the whole bowl really comes together. I honestly really enjoyed his and definitely would get that for myself next time I came. One thing I did want to note is they could do something about all the flies coming inside the restaurant. But overall very friendly and welcoming place.

There are NO VEGAN OPTIONS on the menu, so I made do. What I received was toast slathered in butter. Did I eat? No. Am I still hungry? Yes. I had a lemon slice off the edge of my mom's water as my meal. In fairness to our waitress, we were a LARGE group of 14. To compile various meals of that magnitude is not easy. Too many items, however came out incomplete, wrong, cold, and tasteless. The grits--were like white, muddy water. And we had MORE than one order of them. How can you make grits taste like, well NOTHING!? They were tasteless and cold--and even the cheese on the grits did not improve the taste. The side of ham never actually appeared with the rest of the meal. Once my husband ate ALL of his meal, the ham finally arrived. The burger was good though, so in fairness, I should mention the good if I am going to talk about the bad. This will be our last visit. We have been coming here for YEARS, but the lack of quality of food and arrival time of our food to the table is not worth the money we paid. We will not return.

The two main roads they are located in between is Nimmo Pkwy and Elson Green Ave. My most recent visit here was on June 6, 2026. With the place being located in a shopping center, parking wasn't an issue, even though it was on a Saturday morning. The outside of the place is simple, but you can see the place easily with the green lettering. When my mom and I came inside, we were able to just find a table and then they would come by in a moment. It was a bit busy, but I was surprised that it took them several minutes to finally come to the table to get the menus and drink orders placed. Once the drinks came to the table, our server asked us if we were ready to order, but we weren't quite yet. I went with water with lemon for a drink while my mom went with Pepsi since they have Pepsi products here. She came back a few minutes later, and we were finally ready to order. I decided to go with the French Toast Breakfast Specialty along with Crispy Bacon, 2 Eggs, and a Biscuit on the side as a la carte items. My mom went with the 2 Eggs & 2 Items Breakfast Special. She did hers with French Toast (1.5 Slices), Crispy Bacon, and two scrambled eggs. It was less than 10 minutes for the food to come out, which was a nice surprise considering how busy they were on this visit. The entrees looked really good and hot when they came out. I don't do the syrups any longer due to the high sugar content, so I just did the French Toast with butter on it, which was good the way it was. The bacon was nice and crispy, along with the scrambled eggs being good too. The biscuit was a great way to finish off the meal. Although the meal did elevate the glucose higher than I thought, it was still good. My mom said the food she had was good too, and there were no issues. Overall, this experience was better than the last time I was here about ten years ago. The service was a little off at first since it took awhile for them to get to the table originally. There was a feeling of being rushed to order, but I guess that's because it is a small space inside with limited seating. One thing to note about that is if you come on a weekend or a holiday, there is a limit of 90 minutes to be there. If you're in the Red Mill Commons area and looking for a breakfast spot, this place is still worth considering.
