I was in the mood for BBQ so decided to try something new and try this place out. I was pleasantly surprised by this spot. The pulled pork sandwich was so delicious and so tender. I also loved the BBQ sauce and it was so good and not too thin. The only reason it isn't five stars is that the ribs were not quite as tender as I like but overall so good. The fries were also pretty good and it is a good price for how big the sandwich is. The lemonade is also pretty tasty. I will also say that we wanted to sit outside and none of the tables were set up for people to sit but napkins and ketchup were out on one table so it was easy enough to grab stuff and get the table ready to sit outside. I ordered a brisket sandwich for myself and 3 sides. The sandwich was amazing the sides on the other hand was absolutely horrible!!! My 14 year old daughter cooks better than this. City Barbeque is a nice little spot. It's very casual and offers great food! My grandchildren (Margaret & Olivia) love the chicken tenders and mac and cheese. Ours girls can be a little difficult when they are hungry so it's very easy to order at the register and then get them seated to wait for their food. The more cowbell sandwich, my favorite thing on their menu, is delicious (though I usually remove the onions due to personal preference)! The beef is always just how I like it and very juicy! My husband always gets their ribs (with a side salad at my insistence). We used to love their coleslaw but they might have changed the recipe because it is not how I remember it. The staff are polite most of the time. A few times I have ordered and a few have been less than enthused to be there, but 9/10 times they are very friendly! When I brought it home, it was not a brisket sandwich. It was a chicken sandwich. I called the number via yelp and got to customer service. This is where they failed miserably and earned 2 stars. I don't live in or near Decatur. I was in the city on special occasion and decided to try this place since it was nearby. I called to resolve the issue. During the call the representative asked me a million questions and collected personal data. It got to the point where I had to ask her why she needed all this information for an order they got wrong- she said I want to add you to our rewards program. I said lady, this is my first time at your establishment and you all messed up my order. I really just want to correct it. I asked if I could pick up the correct sandwich the next day because it was late and I didn't want to drive all the way back to Decatur so late. The lady boldly stated "No. If you don't get it today you can get a free dessert". I literally hung up and began writing this review. He has worked here for majority of my time visiting this location, and what a great job he does. He is sharp, and attentive, putting orders together in timely manner without missing a beat. Rearly do I find a BBQ place with such great sides. This hit it. Green beans are the bomb followed by the Collard and potatoe salad. I rarely eat anybody potato salad but my Mom. I finally had the chance to try the new City Barbeque location in McDonough. I liked it. It's a cute little casual eatery spot. I had the Dirty Bird sandwich alongside the peach cobbler. Yes, I was up to some big backtivities. I did not care! My only caveat is that the server gave me no silverware. She didn't give me a fork even though I ordered cobbler. I was visiting my entertainment clients to go over an agreement for some upcoming songs, and decided that I'd take them out to lunch. They suggested this place. Little did I know that I was craving BBQ inside and the minute we walked in, I was overwhelmed with the fresh smell of cooked beef, pork, and chicken. There was four of us so we got the Judge's Sampler which came with everything - chicken, pulled pork, ribs, brisket, cornbread, greens, fries, Mac & Cheese and much more. Their lemonade and sweet tea (Arnold Palmer) were a perfect compliment to the most southernly of southern meals.... BBQ! All in all I will definitely be coming back here. Obviously, I was taking her away from standing there doing absolutely nothing. No. 3 Clearly questions are met with hand motions as opposed to verbal responses and No. 4 there must be somewhere else to put the plastic forks to keep from getting dirty looks when reaching too near the guard dog. I was super excited to try this place. The inside reminded me of a new aged BBQ spot in NC somewhere...it smelled amazing and I wanted to try everything! I ordered the BBQ Sampler w/ Brisket & Pulled Pork. I prayed to the BBQ Gods that the Brisket would be juicy and flavorful..it was neither. The brisket looked pre sliced and dried out. That made for disappointment. The pulled pork however was as great! The brisket baked beans had no flavor and lacked sweetness (personal preference) it also only had tiny pieces of brisket in it. The best part of this experience was the sweet tea/lemonade mix that I made in the dining room and the BBQ sauce. That vinegar sauce was DYNAMITE! I mixed it with the original BBQ Sauce and it was so freaking good with the pulled pork. I'm hoping I just caught them on a bad brisket day so I'll give it another try soon. read more

I wouldn't normally feel the need to leave a positive review for curbside pickup a year into the pandemic but this is one the very few places that does it right. They deserve recognition for it. You don't need to download an app, the system will still send you updates via text and you can actually reply by text. The response to your replies are instant and clear instructions for pickup are relayed. I ordered two meals worth of food 3 hours ahead. My food was ready and delivered to my vehicle 3 minutes past my designated pick up time during Saturday dinner rush. Everything was warm, fresh, and well packaged. Nothing missing. Which is a sad thing that I feel the need to comment on. I've had to cancel orders and charges from several other businesses in the area because they can't get it right. I've been passing this place everyday and finally decided to check it out today. I'm so happy I did. When going inside you can order before seating down. I ordered pulled pork sandwich, two sides potato salad and Mac and cheese. I was most pleased about be offered to sample the sides before ordering. Everything was delicious, the pulled pork sandwich had a lot of meat on it, enough for two sandwiches. I liked the variety of barbque sauces to choose from. I stuck with the sweet barbeque flavor. Inside looks very nice and clean, lots of spacious seating, there is also outside seating for those warm spring days. The staff was the best part of my visit. I drove 30min to visit your 2511 Blackmon Dr location and was very disappointed. I arrived at 7:45pm on Saturday, 1/4/25. I noticed about three customers in line above me, once they got to the register, they just left out the door and did not place their order. When I got to the register to order the first thing the cashier said is we are out of ribs and bone-in chicken. Well, I drove to get the brisket chili, but as soon as I ordered it the cashier said we are also out of chili. This is horrible management of how much food is needed on a Saturday evening. People are a bit more critical when you actual shell out your own money. I ordered the "Light Lunch" option today - brisket with two sides - Collards and Gumbo. Dining companion had pulled pork, mac&cheese and green beans. The sandwiches are very small - like sliders. I don't have a problem with that as I think most restaurant portions are waay too large and I typically end up with a to-go box. The problem was the food. The brisket was more of a pulled, glomped together style than slice of meat. At first I thought I had gotten the pulled pork order. It was so fatty is was inedible. I pulled the greasy buns apart and it was 50% fat. This was not "marbling," these were the pieces you cut off the brisket and don't serve. The texture was gross. The sides were good but very, very salty. The Collards had tons of pork in them, good flavor and the right spiciness - but too much salt.
