Love the Carmel location. Hate the Fishers location this time. Just received The Deluxe City Sampler - pulled pork was mostly fat. Brisket was overcooked and cold. Ribs were cold. Both large sides - green beans with bacon and baked beans with brisket were cold. The Texas Toast was anything but toasted. The corn bread was burnt. We asked for more and they just brought more burnt corn bread, said "it's all that way". The only item that was hot and spot on was the chicken. Carmel location you've earned our business and its twice as far from home! After typing my review the Manager - Kelli stopped by the table and we chatted about the food quality. She apologized and provided us with a pass for a replacement Deluxe City Sampler for our next trip. Good customer service, but after the fact. Great place to buy barbeque meat by the pound. I usually use their online ordering system and prepay. Beware - this place is crazy busy. Even if you pay ahead - you WILL wait at the pick up counter. Would advise that you pick up during off hours. The barbeque is excellent. I'll get a pound each of pulled pork and brisket - then buy my own buns and make my own slaw. Will feed family of 5 for 2 days. Very friendly staff. Seems like a very well run place - even though the pick up counter can be a clusterfudge at times. read more

City Barbeque is a okay restaurant just far from a very good restaurant. First is the confusing food delivery - you wait in a small cue to get to order - no problem there. Our friendly receptionist (are they waitress?) was eager to take our order but didn't know their beer selections - they only have four but we got it figured out. Then the confusion set in - we had a party of six - do we get a table - do we stand around and wait for our food - they didn't get a name or an order number so we found a table. Then we waited a bit and realized that our order was sitting at the counter - guess they announced the order but we didn't hear. Seems like a number or name would solve this but whatever. The food was consistently okay but nothing to get excited about. Ribs were meaty but didn't have any smoky flavor and the sauce wasn't distinctive, just middle of the road like it was designed in a corporate kitchen to appeal to everyone. My wife's brisket taqo's (the "q" is trendy) were probably the worst dish with dry brisket in gummy shells - she has to soak them in sauce to get them down. The pulled pork might have been the best - juicy and tender. Sides were again just okay (although two of the orders didn't show) - mac & cheese was super sauced in a yellow cheese whiz kind of stuff - not a fan. Green bean were fine, collards needed some vinegar and the watermelon was very fresh. Another weird part of City Bareque is clearing your own table - I don't care that the restaurant asks me to but with some seriously messy dishes - bones, juice from collards and beans, sauce, etc - they could make the process easier - dumping the waste into a hole then separating the silver ware from the plates into a small slot above black tubs wasn't great. The pork here is great. For some reason when we do take out it tastes way better than in the store. When they have t the sweet potatoes are so good. They corn casserole is worth every bite. I don't think the sauces are the best on the area but the meat is so good it doesn't need it. read more

We love City BBQ! The portion sizes are large, my husband and I usually share a city sampler and leave satisfied, not overly full. The deluxe city sampler is enough to feed three adults with extra left over. I'm a fan of the sausage and pulled pork. I also love the green beans. Everything has a nice smoked flavor. Great food, speedy service, and decent prices if you're eating with 1-3. I had the pulled pork, and it's definitely the best you can get around Fishers. The meat was tender and it had a nice seasoning, especially when coupled with one of the sauces. The place had a rustic feel and it was well-decorated. The only complaint I had was that as a first time customer, it was a bit confusing figuring out whether to wait at the counter for my food or if I was supposed to wait at a table. read more

Love City Barbeque and the Fishers location. The staff is always friendly, and I've tried almost every menu item and have never been disappointed. My personal favorite is the brisket sandwich with a side of corn pudding and baked beans. The cornbread is my other favorite. If you want fries they are always fresh and will not disappoint. The only side I didn't find appealing was the coleslaw. It's a personal preference, but their slaw is a vinegar based slaw and I'm not a fan. Overall though highly recommended. read more

A $10 lunch buys a 1/4 pound pulled pork sandwich, corn bread, Mac and Cheese, am oversized serving of fresh cut fries, and a large drink. All very pleasing to the taste buds, to be sure. I just came here for the first time last night, and it won't be my last! I knew going in, it had to be pulled pork. Butttttttt, what sides did I want to get? After some persuasion, I ended up with Corn pudding, and french fries. French fries were meh, while the pudding was YAY! We ordered our Thanksgiving turkey from here. My dad ordered and paid over the phone. As well as calling a week prior to verify all was well with the order. When I arrived to pick it up on Thanksgiving Day they had no order and said they don't take or charge credit cards over the phone. After looking for a number of minutes they said "we'll just give you someone's leftover turkey." So, they charges me, and off I went. Later that night my dad looked at his credit card statement and they DID previously charge him for the turkey when the order was placed. Providing no confirmation number or anything for pick up. When asked, their response was "we don't do that." Their food is amazing! Their ordering process and customer service was terrible. It's not like you can just go home and bake a turkey to fix their screw up when it's THANKSGIVING DAY! read more

The bar b que is OK. However, our baked beans were under- cooked. Biggest complaint was the fact that on a 10 degree evening the air conditioner blew right on top of us. We brought it to the waiter's attention without any action taken in to turn it off. Better places for good bar b.que. read more

My family lives out of state so it's just me, and since I can't have a smoker in my apartment complex to cook my own, I decided to visit City BBQ. First, the staff is great. Always friendly, polite and courteous (this seems to be a lost art nowadays). They take pride in the menu and restaurant. Greeted with smiles on both visits. While I've never dined in, the restaurant appears clean. It's a nice BBQ spot. The food is good but not knock your socks off good. Today, I had 1/2 slab w/ vinegar slaw and baked beans w/ brisket. The ribs were good. Nice and tender. Cooked about right. However, they seem to lack something for my taste buds. Maybe it's the rub. Could be the sauce (tasted the original and the spicy). BBQ if one of my favorite fares. This just didn't do it for me. It is, however, a good option if you don't know how or don't want to cook your own. I will visit again because there are more menu items I'd like to try. Maybe other items, like the brisket and pulled pork, will wow my palette. Maybe next time I'll dine in. read more

This place has great brisket. They smoke everything in the back and all of the meats I've had have been very good there. Just the right spices. Not a huge killer on the pocketbook either. If often gets crowded. Go there early if you've never been before. They do have some outdoor seating if you are interested. read more

Love this place! My husband and I order it for take out at least once or twice a month (thank you online ordering!) We always get the Judge's Sampler and it is such a great deal for all of the food you get! We always have leftovers even with my 3 year old eating from it. The ribs, brisket and pork are all delicious. We get fries and peach cobbler as the sides. Fries are fresh and hand cut. Their Texas toast is the best that I have and my husband cannot get enough of the cornbread. The BBQ sauces are so good with the spicy kind being my favorite. The cashiers are always so friendly. This place is a must! Oh and do NOT skip out on the peach cobbler with their whipped cream! You won't be disappointed. read more

This is the third location of City Barbeque we have tried in Indianapolis, one in Lexington. It was great as usual. Sauce is at the tables but I like the sauce up front that has been heated. Amazing.
