I am so bummed I had such a horrible experience with this shop. I was in here on a friday morning around 6am while my husband was getting gas. We were getting ready to drive to Nashville for a 36+ hour trip. Coffee was definitely a must have! I ordered 2 coffees and bagels. The iced coffee was WAY TOO sweet that it was completely undrinkable. I told the guy working (younger guy...maybe 30?) after one sip that I would love to have it fixed, since it was so bad. I was smiling/laughing about it because it was truly that bad, I thought it was an obvious fix. I've been an avid coffee drinker for years. It has never EVER been a big deal if the coffee needed fixed. Actually, that is just standard customer service anywhere you go (especially when its not prepackaged beverages/food). They guy started off by telling me he was going to charge me for another coffee. I honestly asked if he was kidding, and then he said he would at least need to charge me for a refill. All I asked for, was if he could top it off to help balance off the sweetness. We are not talking about an entire new cup of coffee. I asked again, why I would be charged if I just wanted my coffee fixed. He aggressively jerked my coffee out of my hand and very dramatically dumped it over half way out. Then he completely filled it with ice and only put a small amount of coffee back in it. It was literally all ice and a little coffee. I looked at him calmly and asked if he was serious about how he was treating me. He rolled his eyes and very rudely dismissed me. (Are you serious? Its coffee dude, chill out). I couldn't help but laugh at the emotional immaturity he showed about a stupid cup of coffee. I on the other hand had a very long drive ahead, and just really really wanted a good cup of coffee without dealing with a man-child melt down. I asked if he owned the shop and he ignored me, then I asked if I could have his name and he responded " I don't want to give you my name". Still waiting for my other coffee I purchased, I asked for it. He abruptly showed me the self serving station (I've never been here..didnt know). The customer behind me was laughing at the situation and shaking his head. I looked at the two girls working (who were extremely nice) and notified them that this was probably one of the worst services I've ever had. I give them 1 star because the girls were nice, and the self serve coffee was delicious. The ice coffee was absolutely terrible, but not as terrible as the rude guy who clearly does not know one thing about service....or coffee. As a small business owner myself, I feel terrible for the owner of this shop. Please do yourself a favor and have talk with him. You have a great shop and don't need a piss poor attitude to bring the quality down. Again super bummed this was such a horrible experience. I am in town for work 1-2 a month and this is right by where I stay. I don't recommend this place and have no plans on going back. read more

A tiny little getaway Bistro in Orange famous among the cyclists who often come here for a cup of coffee and catch among themselves. Some come for the smoothies and others for the bagels stuffed with many things. For me, I just come here to sit down and have a cup of house coffee with a bagel if I am hungry. This place is nothing different from the usual places that you encounter but sure doesn't disappoint you for a one time visit. The worst customer experience I've seen in a long time. The cashier gave me a sunrise instead of a Denver sunrise and charged an extra $1.50 to add tomatoes and bell peppers to the original sunrise. They couldn't refund it because they were out of bagels. Gem of a coffeeshop in the middle of chain store dominated Orange County! I popped in here to get some coffee this morning. Awesome find! I was thinking I was going to be relegated to gas station coffee because sometimes I don't have the patience for a Starbucks. The coffee here was pretty good. Way better than I expected. The service was outrageously friendly and the proprietors and regular customers all seemed to know each other's names! It was fantastic and charming. Parking is super easy since its in a big shopping center. My only con is that apparently they keep the pastries really, really cold. The guy asked me if I wanted my orange cranberry scone heated up. I said "no" assuming it was like most places and the thing is edible now and the "heat it up" thing is just in case I wanted it to be "warm" as if it just came out of the oven. He then proceeded to try to instruct me on how to heat up the scone which was really confusing because I did not know why he was telling me that when I just told him I didn't want it heated up. Then I am sitting in my car about 2 blocks away at a stop light when I decide to reach in and try this scone...it was rock hard cold! Then it all made sense....I did notice a high proportion of people all getting their pastries heated up and I did think that was odd...the high number of people wanting that microwave warmth...Anyways, despite that the pastry was good once I heated it up at the office! I would definitely come back and I will still get a pastry BUT I will say "yes" when they ask if you want it heated up! read more

My 1st time here and I won't be back. Snobby workers. The owner doesn't know how to greet so it's no suprise that the workers have no sense of customer service. Although my bagel tasted fresh they got my order wrong. I said everything bagel with avocado and turkey. They added cream cheese. I guess they can't listen either. Prices are too high. I have food allergies and I asked the girl at the front for an ingredients list for the pastries or an allergens list which they did not. No problem, most places don't, but I thought I ask. So the owner came up and I explained I have allergies and just wanted to know if some of the pastries I was interested in buying had soy flour, soy bean oil or soy as an emulsifier. In a very rude manner he said "I don't know; Probably" and walked away. Seriously?! This was my first time and the last time I will go to this coffee shop. This is my regular go-to coffee house. I love their blended mocha versus a Starbucks Mocha Frap. It has a much better flavor. They also have a great Denver Sunrise Bagel sandwich that is yummy! They also have sandwiches and smoothies. Always friendly service. My kids love the blueberry muffins. My only complaint is that they close too early! :) I highly recommend them! read more

My wife and I happened upon this nice gem of a coffee shop on an early start road trip to Palm Desert from Laguna Beach. It was perfect for a quick morning coffee, bagels,muffins and breakfast burritos to go. Everything was fresh, hot and the breakfast burrito was delicious and quite filling.I didn't make it back to the highway before I devoured this tasty combination of eggs, potatoes, cheese, chorizo,guacamole and salsa. I stop by CJ's every now & then and every time I've gone in I am never greeted. No one (including the manager) smiles. They rarely make eye contact when taking your order. I went back hoping maybe they were having a bad morning, but no, they are consistently sour faces. It looks like every day is a bad day. I will not be back. CJ s is by far the coolest coffee shop in Orange. It's up in the hills not the plaza. The staff are awesome. Evan is a hip friendly drummer who serves killer coffee in the afternoons and has a sweet playlist which always includes the Beatles. I find myself going out of my way to get my morning coffee from CJ's. Not only is the service great (A special thank you for Alex for being so gosh darn friendly) but also the coffee is heavenly. I never realized starbucks had bad coffee until I tasted the good stuff. They have an awesome breakfast and lunch menu too! For breakfast I always get the "sunrise" breakfast sandwich on a jalapeno cheese bagel and for lunch I get a veggie sandwich on the very berry bagel! read more

Another great cafe find in Orange! It was pretty crowded when I came on a Sunday morning, but they work fast to get the food and drinks out. I got a latte with an extra shot, which was a little bitter, but probably due to the extra espresso (but I really needed it!) so I think the regular version would taste just fine. I love that I can get a healthy, delicious, made to order meal there for the same price as the crap at John's place. I usually get good customer service and great drinks made here. Today I came in and was rushed by an employee with blonde/orange hair. There was no line when I came yet she was impatient w me and wouldn't give me my receipt. When I asked for it she said it was too late but I'm sure she was just too lazy to pull up the order.
