Decided to come to Clayton's for my birthday dinner while I was staying nearby. Wanted to treat myself after reading all the raving reviews. However, I was really quite disappointed. My salad appetizer was really tasty and a winner. The fish entree was a real disappointment though! It was pretty bland and the fingerling potatoes were a bit al dente. Definitely not worth $34! The drinks were okay but also really overpriced. It wasn't overly busy and there were lots of available tables. Was surprised service was lacking. The server didn't ask how my meal was and was difficult to flag down. I don't think I will ever return there if I'm in the area again. Would much rather go to Big Water Fish Market in Siesta Key, around the corner from this place. read more

I had the macadamia crusted grouper and the boss had the fish special in a pernod cream sauce. My wife loved the cream sauce with the fish. I found out I am not a fan of pernod, but she loved her dish. My grouper was tasty and the bok choy and potato mash was yummy. Service was quick and friendly. Vibe is chilled. We love Clayton's!!! From a night time snack, to a girls night for drinks and apps, to an actual date night Clayton's can do it all! Don't miss the chance to eat at this lovely restaurant. They just changed the menus too so the chef gets to try something new! We got spicy margs which were yummy but def very spicy & we got lots of appetizers! The service here is one of a kind. A real family mentality and you can tell. Clayton's is a must if you are visiting Sarasota! The one down side is there's not enough free parking. This area tends to get very busy so adding more free parking for restaurant customers would be a nice thank you to loyal customers. read more

Kids meal oven fired cheese pizza add a touch of salt, so good! Caesar salad was quite tasty but heavy on the dressing g (4$!) beet salad was tasty, missing some cheese (Gorgonzola or blue or something) farmhouse salad gobbled up quickly. Everything was fresh. Dinner for us was a split gnocchi and scallops with 2 wine pairings.scallops were cooked perfectly, missing bread to sop up the sauce! Years ago, we used to live on Siesta and Clayton's was one of our favorite local spots for dinner. Though we had not been there in a while, we decided to stop for dinner and could not have been more pleased! Our server, Barbara, was friendly and informative. She was always at the ready to refill water glasses, and lots of good information about offerings. Mavis, I imagine the manager, came by several times to see how we were doing. The point being the service was fabulous . My husband ordered the lettuce wedge and calamari and he declared both delicious. I had the mussels and house salad... The mussels were outstanding, the salad ingredients extremely fresh For dessert, I had the butter pecan bourbon martini, which was on the drink menu, but should've been on the dessert menu. Congratulations to Clayton's for keeping a high standard during difficult times. I hope anyone who sees this review and is close enough to go by will choose to dine there. The food was good; we ordered the macadamia nut grouper and the margarita pizza and both were very tasty. My only comment is the pizza maker rolled the dough a little too much so half the pizza had a very thin, crunchy crust. The other note was the pizza didn't have very much cheese, but the overall flavor of the pizza was good. read more

We ate here for NYE. The food was definitely what I had hoped for after reading reviews Our server Barbara was very attentive. The filet was the LARGEST , juiciest fhave ever ordered. The mashed potatoes were to die for (90% of the time I do not order mashed, because I am always disappointed. Filet came with a seasonal baby zucchini and orange pepper side. The scallop gnocchi- A MUST TRY, gorgeous perfectly seared, & seasoned. Macadamia Tart & PB&J cheesecake was just not for me ( I'm a creme brûlée girl) but they tasted well prepared and delicious. If you are looking for fresh excellent tasting seafood come to Claytons. This is our third time here and every time we are impressed. Barbara was our server and was super attentive. Our drinks were always filled and she explained the menu thoroughly. We ordered the bucatini which was filled with seafood (shrimp, mussels, calamari and clams) in a delicious seafood broth. We also order the Teriyaki salmon which comes with a delicious vinegary cucumbers salad, sticky rice and bok choy. Jacob the manager passed by several times to check in on us which was such a nice touch. If you are coming during the winter it is suggested to make a reservation. Came here for dinner with 5 adults. Can't believe I have been coming to siesta for 30 years and it was my first time here. The vibe is cute and family friendly. They have a full bar in the center and the tables are dressed in blue and yellow- very inviting. The service is friendly and excellent. The food is delicious. We had conch chowder - amazing, crab cakes - delicious.. also the gnocchi with scallops - delicious in an amazing sauce. The famous grouper was my dish - it was exquisite. It has these sauteed mushrooms that come with it that are the bomb.com! Highly recommend. We finished with the peach upside down cake, the key lime pie and the brownie. For the table, the key lime pie was the winner and better than the best key lime pie from anywhere in the keys! For me, the peach upside down cake was the winner. Decide for yourself.
