They don't have fries....tater tots...you know the frozen ones defrosted & heats for 5 min. I had a salad. It was fine. The chicken was cooked well. Only reason I'm giving this place a 3 star is because of the beer selection. I ordered the chicken pot pie and it was all gravy with no chicken. My girlfriend got the prime rib which was an 80% fat piece. I will say that they did send us home with a new cut of a less fatty piece of prime rib. I was surprised to see the big change in the menu, perhaps due to the recent events Only BBQ offered. The meat was smoked to perfection however the food lack seasoning. They offer fried pickles but do not offer a dipping sauce with it. The chicken fingers cooked to perfection however had no flavor at all nor did the Mac and cheese. The ribs are the most flavorful on the menu along with chicken wings but unfortunately they offer little BBQ Sauce with the meal. If you are looking for an amazing comfort food spot with great beer and cocktails selection, you are doing yourself a disservice if you have not yet visited this place. Do not let the stigma of the old Rumrunnners deter you, this is an entirely different restaurant. Like I said, a great craft beer selection, and it constantly rotates. Had the hot buttered rum drink and loaded tots. Both were amazing. The tots were loaded with cheese bacon and green onion. the hot buttered rum drink was that kind of drink where you just want to sit there and enjoy it for an hour. I unfortunately did not have that kind of patience and had to order another one lol The owner had previously recommended the clam chowder pizza, which I had been very worried about until I tried it. It absolutely works and I now recommend it to anyone else looking at it. From what I understand the bar manager also rotates the cocktail menu so that it reflects the season... The staff were very friendly and attentive, and the owners are extremely nice. They've done a great job with transforming the place, and it's now become a hip place to hang out, listen to music, have a great meal and drinks, and also cornhole in the warmer months! Cleat & Anchor has that type of menu and setting where I would be perfectly content to be locked there during the entirety of a blizzard. If I had anything bad to say about them, it would only be that they're about 15 miles too far east from my house :-) read more

The staff was friendly and energetic. The place was clean and atmosphere was very quaint fits the whole cape cod feel. The food was plenty and absolutely delicious. I would highly recommend the Anchor Poutine as a starter definitely could also be enjoyed as a meal as well. I enjoyed my half rack ribs and fried pickles. We went here 2 times during our week stay in Dennis. Night one, the service was excellent and the food was good. My husband had the Elk which was great, however he could have used a larger portion. The 2nd time we went, the service was not good and my daughter's Mac n cheese came out 10 minutes after everyone else got their food which was really annoying. Our waiter was no where near as good as the first night. Sadly this was our last impression of the restaurant. Clear & Anchor has become a go to spot for us. We ate there last night. We sat outside on their patio which has a nice atmosphere. The staff was friendly and attentive. Their craft beer menu is by far the best procured list I have found on mid and lower Cape with about 20 draft beer options and they are constantly rotating in new beers. Their craft drink list is creative and excellent. Their menu offers something for everyone from BBQ, to pub food and innovative/special entrees so something for everyone. I had the Wagyu burger and my wife had their salmon special along with a side of Mac &cheese. All of it was excellent. The wild boar special that another table ordered looked amazing. What a lovely joint. The drink menu was fulfilling yet not overwhelming; they had a nice section for gin and tonics (which I'm privy to). The atmosphere is lively (who can resist cornnhole?) as they have an indoor and outdoor area. The food was fantastic, I ordered the cheese board for a starter then the steak and smoked vegetables which complimented one another very well. I recommend getting the steak rare: the buttery inside enhanced the melty garlic and truffle butter on top. Portions were perfect and staff heightened the experience greatly. Try it out!! read more

They were able to seat my very large party of 14 with no notice, so that was great. That's where about all the stars were. There was hair in our salad, they forgot half of our order, gave away our wings to another table. Food was mediocre at best when it came and wasn't hot. Dried out thin fish - not good. I just ate one . Damn. One table spoon of average coke slaw. Tots were fine. Friend got a chicken (buffalo) sandwich - same - small and tough and dry - So sounds like cook can't figure out how long to keep something in a fryalator - Everything was mediocre. Pricey. Friday night of Labor Day weekend - 5:30 pm - dead and empty. No one in there. Chowder is super thick - how I like it. Delicious and thick as porridge. Wings were fine. Siracusa sauce good/ Korean BBQ was unbalanced super soy. Caesar salad was adequate but weird polenta croutons If you just want a bar - 5/5!!! Go here for amazing beer. Clear and Anchor is a favorite of ours for apps and drinks. We like the atmosphere a lot, and everyone is friendly and accommodating. Favorites are the chowder, which has little bits of fried clams in it, and the not quite chicken wings, which are little pork shanks. Get the Korean BBQ flavor--yummy! I would say that we have been less than thrilled with full dinner entrees, mostly based on limited choices and high prices, but for drinks and shared apps, it's a great little spot. read more

I didn't think this would be a very kid-friendly place, but they were great with my 2 year old. They didn't have a printed kids menu, but made her a kids Mac n cheese, which was incredibly large (I could have split it with her easily for an entree). My celiac dad was so thrilled that they had a GF dedicated fryer - he scarfed down calamari and fish n chips (which he hasn't had for years!). My Asian noodle salad was good and drinks were great too. Only thing was the bathrooms were really gross. One of the ladies stalls was out of order, the other one had explicit instructions on how to flush. Yuck! read more

I suppose we should have had an idea of what this place was like since there were hardly any people inside but we were hungry so we went in. I ordered a Manhattan and it was disgusting! No taste of bourbon, only a strong taste of vermouth. I ordered the ribs and though I will say there was decent meat in the bone the flavor was nasty and seemed like the only spice used was peppercorn. The tater tots were good and reminded me of when I was in elementary school. My wife had the smoked jerk chicken. The Chicken must have been anorexic because there was hardly any meat - the flavor was nasty. John Taffer needs to do a bar rescue here because this was not worth the visit. read more

Went here the first year they opened, and there was not much on the menu for me. That time my husband got a salmon dish that he loved (but is no longer on the menu) and he loved it and always wanted to go back but I did not want to. After looking at their menu, we decided to try it again and I was pleasantly surprised. I had the dry rub buffalo chicken tenders and they were delicious. The dry rub covered the entire tender and not just sprinkled on like I have had at other places. My husband had the not-so-chicken wings. They were pork shank in Korean BBQ sauce (you had your pick of sauce) He loved them and said it was a type of meal you could not find anywhere else. I also ordered a chowder and specifically asked for 2 spoons. I also asked for ranch dressing instead of blue cheese. The chowder was thick and had a lot of large pieces of clams. However, it was bland and had no taste and tasted "floury". They have pizza on the menu as well as a few pasta dishes and sandwiches. The reason why I gave a 4 out of 5 is because the service we had was not very good. We ate at the bar and it was not crowded at all. The bartender gave my husband his drink and I thought she was going to make mine and she totally forgot to make it, serving the other guests who then came to the bar. I had to ask her if she forgot my drink and she said she did. Then the chowder came out and they gave us 2 chowders, instead of 2 spoons. It did seem that the bartender did put that in the computer and she told the server as such. I also got blue cheese instead of ranch dressing. Also, the prices are high for what you get. I can get really good boneless wings across the street for the same price but have 10 instead of 4 tenders. All in all, I would still go back as I like their new menu. I do wish they had kept their Thursday Prime Rib Night, but hopefully it will be back in the fall. read more

My fiancé and I haven't been to this part of the cape and didn't realize how early the restaurants closed. While driving around looking for somewhere to get a late dinner we stumbled across Cleat & Anchor at 9:45. Not only were they not upset that we ordered food right before the kitchen closed but Josh was exceptional and made our night. It's hard to come across great service these days so we were extremely impressed with how welcoming and outgoing he was. Our food was delicious & the portions were huge. Definitely ordered too much and took most home with us. Next time we come to the Cape, we will def be visiting the Cleat & Anchor again. read more

Food was good, but NO wheelchair accessible bathroom. After I ordered a beer, appetizers, and a $40 lobster roll, I asked if there was a bathroom I could get into. They told me I could try and use one across the street at another restaurant. WTF?! You mean go outside, cross the crushed shell parking lot, then negotiate traffic on a busy street, and use a bathroom in another place? Didn't think to mention that before I ordered $60 worth of food?! They comped my lobster roll and that was nice, but it doesn't make up for what happened and lack of compliance with building codes. We have been coming to Dennis every summer for years. It gets busy and sometimes you have to wait a little longer for things. This was not the case at Cleat and Anchor, the place was fairly empty when we came in. Our server came by and got drink orders and then after we got our drinks took our food order. All seemed fine and then 30minutes after taking our food order our server came back to retake it. He claimed it was so he could go check on it, but having served for years I know he would have had a table number for that. It was clear he had forgotten to put the food in. We all make mistakes and if he had just said I'm sorry it didn't make it in I would have been much more forgiving. But he lied and repeatedly insisted our food would be out any minute, we didn't get our food for an hour after he took our order a second time. I flagged the manager down to explain that we had been waiting over an hour, he was rude and apathetic. Didn't seem to see anything wrong with waiting an hour and a half for a medium rare burger. The food was fine when it finally did come but the server's lack of honesty and the managers attitude are unacceptable, plenty of great places to eat in the Dennis area, definitely won't be back to Cleat and Anchor. read more
