We decided to try this place because of the favorable reviews and we're always looking for new places to try. The drink selections and atmosphere were great and our server was nice, which is why I'm giving the 2 stars. Food gets 0 stars. Maybe we just happened to be there on an "off" night but the food was disappointing. My bucket of nachos ($12) with the added steak (add'l $9) was meh and contained just a few pieces of steak at the bottom of the bucket. The $9 charge to add steak was outrageous since I think I counted maybe 5-6 bits of steak. We had to look for it and all the toppings were at the bottom so chips became soggy and greasy. Husband got the mac and cheese with Cheez-it topping. It took a long time to wait for it and it wasn't worth the cost ($16). Wanted to like it but the prices and quality of food on the evening we visited didn't impress. read more

Nice environment and our server was fantastic. The food was lacking though. We all ordered medium steak tips and a fish and chips. Fish and chips were great. All the steak tips were ordered medium and came out well done with maybe three individual tips actually being medium. There were four orders of steak tips too. The yuka biscuit was great and broccoli was decent. An excessive use of garlic(which I like but not my entire party love garlic). The musical "guest" was fantastic as well. I went to Cleat and Anchor and specifically marked how much I had spent because I run a tight budget. I added my total spent to my spreadsheet, and went on with my day. Upon looking when the final credit transaction went through, my total was increased by a dollar. They added a dollar to my tip without my consent. Although this is not enough of a difference for me to be too upset, I will not be spending any more money there and encourage anybody visiting to check and make sure that they are not charged more than they wrote down. read more

Tried visiting when they first opened, but it was so packed, we couldn't get in. Finally made it for dinner this weekend. It's a nice atmosphere and a great bar. The craft beer list is very good and there are some creative cocktails. We started with a the fried calamari. The top layer was very good, but those underneath were a little mushy, like they had not been drained properly. My husband had the fish&chips. Similar issue with his fish, crispy on top; disappointing that it comes with tots and not fries. I had the scallops wrapped in duck bacon. I was surprised that this was priced at market. I inquired on the price ($30) and ordered it without the risotto and just vegetables. I was somewhat surprised when it arrived with just 3 scallops (and not very large ones). The bacon was tasty, but the scallops were a bit bland. The balsamic drizzle was barely that. If we return, it will be enjoy some cocktails at the bar and maybe try an appetizer or sandwich. We visited the Cleat & Anchor the other night, we had an delicious meal, pulled pork, pulled chicken sandwich, the fried pickles were awesome. Best part, the cocktails - they were so fancy and tasty. They have lots of choices and are served in really cool glasses... The very best part of our visit was the service, we had a friendly, sweet waitress named Dana. She had a big smile under her mask, and was very attentive! We'd go back for sure!! read more

My wife and I went there on the Saturday of labor day weekend for an early dinner. The host walked us past several empty tables only to try to squeeze us between two large parties in the rear of the dining room. We asked to be moved before even taking our seats; and fortunately we were moved to the vacant tables we had previously walked by. They have a large beer selection that I was satisfied with; however my wife ordered a mojito that was oddly sweet and very strong. For an appetizer, we had their take on poutine. It was the best part of our dining experience. For meals, she had steak tips and enjoyed her meal. I had their vegetarian option. Their menu goes in depth labeling items as gluten free/vegetarian/etc but failed to label things as spicy! My dish was drenched in a spicy red tomato based sauce that I found extremely spicy; I couldn't eat it. I'd only recommend this place for beer drinkers who want apps read more

Bad food paired with bad service is a combination that always ruins an evening. My family dined outside at the Cleat & Anchor on a Sunday evening in July. At 8PM, the outside dining area was 1/4 full however our waitress only managed to visit our table twice, once to grab our drink & food order and the second to run the tab. After seeing a man smoking meat in front of the restaurant when we pulled up, the party gravitated to the BBQ options on the menu. Sadly the pulled pork which topped the bucket of nachos not only lacked BBQ sauce, but also acquired the same texture as shoe leather. The $20 appetizer was uneatable. The pulled chicken sandwich also had no sauce and the same awful, overcooked texture. Last but not least, we found a few bugs in the shrimp caesar (I will say, it was a buggy night so they may have landed in the salad after it was delivered). We had to do a cheerleading routine just to get our waitress's attention, desperate to get the bill and get out so we could avoid obtaining even more bug bites. At that point, it wasn't worth even telling our waitress how we really felt about the entire experience. read more

Food was ok and the waitresses were nice although service was very slow. Prices were high for the amount of food received. The major problem was with the management and initiative of the staff. Tables full of dirty dishes sat full for over 20 minutes while patrons waited for tables (many walking out). The priority was folding napkins than cleaning tables and food on the floor. Either better train staff or get a manager that can direct incompetent staff. The cook staff delivering food from the kitchen while wiping sweat from their forehead was not impressive. Nice spot, but salads lack greatly. You might have well have given me a bowl of lettuce as my two snap peas and 4 carrot shavings, in addition to two beet slices which were not listed as in the dish, were the extent of the toppings.... for not a side salad, it was not worth the money, and I had to go pick up more food for dinner since this was not enough food whatsoever and I got the food for takeout. Best food of my life, bar staff super knowledgeable and friendly. I appreciate their cocktails... but you can't do any better than the pizza. A lot of people like pizza differently but you can explain exactly how you want it to the server and they make it spot on. I have been to Cleat and Anchor many times. The food is delicious, never had a bad meal. Very different meals to choose from. There is an enormous selection of beer on tap and the wine was very good. we have chatted with the owners while visiting several times and they are very nice always making sure the customers are happy. We were there Monday night for dinner, we ordered the boneless rib sandwich and a chicken sandwich -both were poor quality - when asked how our meals were, we said we weren't happy with the quality and the waitress laughed and walked away - I should have gotten a manager at that point but we just wanted to leave since during our dinner, someone threw a Heineken bottle over the fence and it smashed against the awning - customer service needs to be better before I ever go back. I get it, it's a stressful time and everyone is doing their best to adapt to our new reality, but if this is their best, whoa boy. Look out. I would hate to get their average. Do yourself a favor and keep driving past this place. There is better out there. read more

Great atmosphere (clean and modern with an appropriate nautical charm) and great food makes this a strong "recommend" from me. After a long weekend vaca, I stopped in for lunch before the long drive back home and left fully satisfied. All of the staff were extremely friendly and the menu was surprisingly diverse for casual dining. I ordered the Pesto Chicken Pizza and my girlfriend, who is vegetarian, ordered the crispy noodle salad. We both ordered the homemade ginger beer from the "mocktails" menu - these were beyond tasty! Our food arrived quickly and was very much on point. Pricing was reasonable and we were in and out in less than an hour. This is a new establishment in the Cape with amazing food. We got the dry rubbed buffalo wings, which were delicious. The 'not so chicken' wings (fried pork shanks) were a tasty experience, especially with honey sriracha sauce. Great drink menu full of craft beer. I've been waiting to try this place since it's opened and I am so excited for this new spot in Dennis Port! Pumped for a great new bar scene that actually has really good food. Not so chicken wings (pork shanks) with the honey siracha are delicious. My boyfriend got the roast beef sandwich and was pleasantly surprised with the robust flavor. Great new spot in town with a fun atmosphere, amazing drinks, and a delicious menu! My friend loved the craft beer selection, and I was obsessed with the hook, lime & sinker, a gin cocktail. For starters, we had the crab bruschetta, which had a generous amount of crab meat, and the clam chowder, which was the best Chowder ever. For dinner, we had the shrimp scampi and the burger. Man oh man idk where to start, o ly reason im giving a 2 star is because our server was the sweetest.holiday weekend we come in and wait at the hospital stand for about 6-7 mins before anyone greets us. There was probably about 10 people in the entire place. We finally get seats by a guy I'm pretty sure doesn't even work there. Walking too our seats I'm tripping because the floors are SO lopsided! We are seated order our drinks and food. My IPA was skunked,so that was sent back. Loaded tater tots and fried pickles were okay. I got the chicken tenders that tasted like fried fish because they are clearly frying the fish and chicken in the same oil. BBQ pizza absolutely disgusting. The chicken looked like pre-grilled and sliced chicken. Shepherds pie wasn't seasoned at all. Chicken pot pie was so THICK that no one ate it. Only decent thing was the buff chick sandwich which was completely modified. Bathroom is a closet. Would I go back HELL NO. I dont care house close it is to my house was super excited a out karaoke but honestly couldn't stick around after such bad food. read more

Only annoyance was that we showed up on a Saturday night with three people, including someone visibly pregnant, and they insisted that their multiple open tables in the bar area were only for groups of four or more.
